Age 84, passed away Sunday, February 21, 1999. Visitation Wednesday 5-8 p.m. and Thursday 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. at KEEHN FUNERAL HOME, Brighton. Funeral Friday 11 a.m. at the Green Oak Free Methodist Church.

Bowman, Preston L., Ypsilanti, MI

Age 79, passed away Sunday, February 21, 1999 at his home. He was born April 9, 1919 in Yards, VA, the son of Davis and Cynthia (Tabor) Bowman. Preston served in the Army Airforce Command #1558 ATC during World War II. He spent two years in the States and two years in the South Pacific as a sergeant. He worked 10 years in the coal mines and three years at a textile plant in Martinsville, VA before coming to MI in 1955. He worked at Hoover Ball Bearing Co. (now N.S.K.) on S. State Street in Ann Arbor for 10 years. It was there in 1964 that he met and later married his wife, Edith Gale Bowman, who survives. Together, they raised her son, Bruce W. (Retha) Hansen of Whitmore Lake, MI, who also works at N.S.K. Other survivors include: one stepson, Ernest (Mary) Hansen of Lancaster, CA; three stepdaughters, Judie (Don) Folger of Ada, OK, Aletha (David) Vaught of Coeur d'Alene, ID and gale Simek of San Diego, CA; 17 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Page of Wythville, VA, Flora Holder of Moorseville, NC, Lucille Greer of Winston-Salem, NC and Margaret Holder of Vinemont, AL; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preston and his wife, Edith, have been especially blessed with two very special neighbors, Wayne and Denise McKalpain and their daughter, Monique, who have been at their side with them during his long illness. He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. Preston was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ypsilanti. He also belonged to the Ypsilanti Senior Citizens, the Township Senior Citizens, A.A.R.P., and he worked as a volunteer Gold Coat at Beyer Hospital for nine years. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, February 25, 1999 at First United Methodist Church of Ypsilanti with Rev. Terry W. Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Highland cemetery. Donations may be made to Arbor Hospice or the First United Methodist Church of Ypsilanti in Preston's memory. Envelopes are available at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel where the family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Wednesday.

McLaughlin, Katherine V., Ypsilanti Township, MI

Age 79, Mrs. Laughlin passed away Monday, February 22, 1999 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor. She was born January 15, 1920 in Beckley, WV, daughter of the late James and Lula May (Stroud) Warden. Mrs. McLaughlin was a member of the Church of Christ, Ypsilanti. Survived by her husband, Cash McLaughlin; two sons, Michael McLaughlin of Maybee, and Joseph (Deborah) McLaughlin of Westland; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lloyd (Mary) Warden of Florida. Preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Herbert, Jesse, and James Warden; and a sister, Isabelle Burke. In-state, DAVID C. BROWN FUNERAL HOME, 460 E. Huron River Dr., Belleville where friends may call 7-9 p.m. tonight and 12-9 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral service 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Mr. Leonard White officiating. Interment, Michigan Memorial Park, Flat Rock. Memorial contributions to the Church of Christ would be appreciated.

McPherson, Gaye L., Belleville, MI

Age 42, passed away Saturday, February 20, 1999 at her home. She was born November 2, 1956 in Ypsilanti, MI, daughter of the late Wallace and Marjorie (Copeland) March. Mrs. McPherson was employed by Huron Woods of Ann Arbor and a member of Wayne Wesleyan Church. She is survived by her husband, David McPherson; four children, Holly (Donny Swinson) Nevins, Kiley Nevins both of Belleville, David (Cheryl) McPherson, Jr. and Kenneth (Agnes) McPherson both of Ann Arbor; two grandchildren, Selena Swinson and David McPherson III; also two sisters, Carolyn (Floyd) Dennis of Harrison and Sue (David) Curns of Willis. Preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Terry March. There will be a Memorial Service 11 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 1999 at DAVID C. BROWN FUNERAL HOME, 460 E. Huron River Drive, Belleville with Father Thomas Cusick and Pastor Dave Dahlberg officiating. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Wayne Wesleyan Church or Huron Woods Staff Education and Training.

Holliday, William Leslie, Seminole, FL

Age 38, died Monday, February 22, 1999 at his residence under the care of Hospice of the Florida Suncoast. Born in Ypsilanti, MI, he came here in 1985 from Kent, Ohio. He was President and Owner of Reliable Painting & Waterproofing. He attended Kent State University, and was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. He was a Martial Artist holding numerous ranks in many styles wano Michi Ryu, Kenpo, Isshin Ryu, Torasamado, Tae Kwon Do and Judo. He also was an avid fisherman, diver and watersports enthusiast, and thought the Gulf of Mexico was his own personal playground. Survivors include his wife of three years, Janet Holliday of Seminole, FL; one son, William Lee Holliday of Seminole, FL; one sister, Lisa Marziale of Miami, FL; parents, William and Nancy Holliday, Leesville, LA; grandmother, LuNella Aller of Ann Arbor; and grandfather, George Holliday of Ann Arbor.

Gibson, Norman R., Ann Arbor, MI

Age 69, died Sunday, February 21, 1999, after a lengthy illness at Hamilton House Residence in Ann Arbor. He was born in Howell, MI on March 14, 1929, the son of Norman and Carol (Reader) Gibson. Mr. Gibson grew up in the Detroit area and graduated from Redford High School in 1947. He went on to attend Wayne State University and graduated with a B.A. in journalism in 1951 and was the editor for the Summer Collegian, the Wayne State paper. Mr. Gibson's journalism career includes a stint as a news writer for WXYZ in Detroit and in Bad Axe, MI as a newspaper writer. Norman then moved to the Ann Arbor area in 1955. He worked for the Ann Arbor News on the police beat and as a drama columnist. Norman was also a member of the Ann Arbor Civic Theater. He was awarded second place in journalistic awards program conducted by the Michigan Probation, Prison and Parole Association. Mr. Gibson is survived by his children, Paul R. (Mary) of Redford, MI, Gail (James) Jarskey of Ann Arbor, MI, Glenn (Julie) of White Lake, MI, and Vicki Gibson of Jackson, MI; sister, Barbara Miller of Livonia, MI; brother, Thomas Gibson of Fairfield, CT; grandchildren, Paul R. II, Katie Rachel, Julie and David Gibson, Kim Jarskey, and Tammi and Stacy Gibson. He is also survived by five nieces. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 27, at 1 p.m. at First Congregational Church in Ann Arbor. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the University of Michigan-Kellogg Eye Center, Low Vision Clinic, 1000 Wall Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48105. Arrangements by MUEHLIG FUNERAL CHAPEL.

Johnson, Jerry W., Ypsilanti Township, MI

Age 58, died Sunday, February 21, 1999 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He was born March 16, 1940 in Ypsilanti, MI, the son of LeRoy W. and Grace A. (Helmbold) Johnson. On March 4, 1959, he married Maxine Mickey Brodie and she survives. Mr. Johnson was employed by General Motors, Willow Run Plant for 33 years, retiring in 1993. He was a former member of the Ypsilanti Assembly of God. In addition to his wife, survivors include: one son, Robert (Sharon) Jeffers of Ypsilanti; one daughter, Zelma Cricket (Clayton) Cook of Ypsilanti; two granddaughters, Christine Marie Jeffers and Cheena Marie Johnson; two great granddaughters, Samantha Kay Webster and Alexis Lynn Jeffers; one brother, Wilfred Johnson of Belleville; two sisters, Caroline Zelma (Silas) Meadows of Ypsilanti and Linda Mae (Jerry) Smith of Ypsilanti; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Sherry Lynn Jeffers Webster. The funeral service will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday, February 25, 1999 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Highland cemetery. Contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home where the family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Panas, Josephine Ginger, Detroit, MI

Age 74, died Monday, February 22, 1999 at Oakwood Hospital after a brief illness. Survivors include her niece, Catherine Chetana Florida; brother, David Panas of Grand Rapids, MI; and other friends and relatives. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Lighthouse Center, P.O. Box 645, Whitmore Lake, MI 48189. Envelopes are available at the NIE FUNERAL HOME, 2400 Carpenter Road, where the family will receive friends Saturday, February 27, 1999 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon, at which time funeral services will be held. Burial will follow at Rowes Corner cemetery, Sharon Township, MI.

Fuller, Dorothy Jean Frog, Ypsilanti, MI

passed away February 22, 1999 at the age of 55. She is survived by her two daughters, Kimberly Fuller and Terri (Rodney) Williams; her three grandchildren, Jennifer, Rodney Jr., and Nicholas; and a host of cousins and friends. According to her wishes,Dorothy has made an anatomical donation to University of Michigan. A time of fellowship and gathering will be held at the Arrowwood Community Center on Sunday, February 28, 1999 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Arrangements by the Muehlig Funeral Chapel.

McDermott, Helene E., Ypsilanti, MI

Age 56, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, February 23, 1999 at St.Joseph Mercy Hospital. She was born August 29, 1942 in Morristown, NJ,the daughter of John and Anna-Lisa (Soccillo) McDermott Sr. She worked at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for 30 years. She loved her family and friends very much and also her cats, Puffs and Smokey. Survivors include her parents, John and Anna-Lisa McDermott of WI; two sisters, Lillian Brady of Belleville and Mary-Lisa McDermott-Robbins of WI; her two brothers, John Henry McDermott Jr of Houghton Lake and Edward Robert McDermott of NJ; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 26, 1999 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Fr. Edmond Ertzbischoff officiating. Burial will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Roscommon Township cemetery, Houghton Lake, MI. Memorials may be made to either the Huron Valley Humane Society or St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Oncology Department. The envelopes are available at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. Thursday.

Hamilton, Beulah M., Hinton, WV

Age 89, died Monday, February 22, 1999 at the Summers Co. Hospital,following a long illness. Born April 15, 1909 in Hillsdale Co., MI to Vernon and Mable Howald Hackett. She married Woodward Clouse who preceded her in death. She later married James Hamilton who also preceded her in death in 1963. She was employed by the University of Michigan Law Club from 1965-1980 as a cafeteria worker. She resided in Ypsilanti, MI for over 50 years. In 1997 she moved to Hinton, WV, to be cared for by her brother, Wayne Hackett. She is survived by a brother, D. Wayne Hackett of Hinton, WV; and three grandsons, Woody, John, and Mark Clouse; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by three sisters, Vena Brown, Myrna Berklich and Juanita Sweeter; a daughter, Mary Lou Marsh; a son, Robert Clouse; and grandson, Terry Marsh. Graveside services and burial will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Arbor Crest Memorial Park. There will be no visitation.

Krzesinski, Genevieve Mae, Van Buren Township, MI

Age 67. Mrs. Krzesinski passed away on Monday, February 22, 1999 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Superior Township, MI. She was born October 26, 1931 in Carleton, MI, daughter of the late Jacob and Mary (Sabaj) Kardys. Mrs. Krzesinski is survived by two sons, Rick (Kristine) Krzesinski of Saline and Randall Krzesinski of California; three sisters, Stella Robak of Westland, Marion Bajor of Carleton and Theresa Proben of Inkster; one brother, Edward Kardys of Romulus. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Derrick Krzesinski of Salt Lake City, Utah, Cori Krzesinski of Oregon and Erin Farmer of Saline. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Krzesinski in 1992 and by two brothers, Chester and Barney Kardys. In state at David C. Brown Funeral Home, 460 E. Huron River Dr, Belleville, MI, where friends may call today from 1-9 p.m. with the Rosary at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening. Prayers at funeral home 9:15 a.m. Thursday proceeding to St. Anthony Catholic Church for 10 a.m. Funeral Mass with Father Thomas H. Cusick, Celebrant. Interment in St. Patricks Catholic cemetery, Carleton, MI.

Jahncke, Dellas, Ypsilanti, MI

Age 86, died Saturday, February 20, 1999 at Heartland Care Center, Livonia, Michigan. He was born February 18, 1913, in Oelwein, Iowa, the son of Edward H. and Rilla M. (Hoppes) Jahncke. On April 18, 1936 he married Pearl Brandes at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ypsilanti and she survives. Mr. Jahncke was employed with Streicker Tool and Die, Indoor Comfort and Acme Glass retiring in 1995. He was also a member of Transfiguration Catholic Church in Ypsilanti. Surviving, besides his loving wife, are two daughters, Joan (Jim) Pryce and Carol A. Jahncke; one son, Ronald (Grethel) Jahncke; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one brother, Richard Jahncke of Chelsea, MI; and one sister, Verdys Shephard of Belleville, MI. He was preceded in death by one son, Floyd. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 27 at 11 a.m. at Transfiguration Catholic Church with Fr. David Franco OSFS as celebrant. Memorial contributions in Mr. Jahnckes memory may be made to Heartland Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the time of service or by contacting Janowiak Funeral Home, Geer-Logan Chapel.
