Tolles, Richard A., Sand Lake Heights, Tawas, MI

(Formerly of Milan)
Age 82. Mr. Tolles died on Thursday, September 30, 1999 in Tawas. He was born July 16, 1917 in Detroit and was former owner of the Milan Pattern Shop. He was a life member and Pilgrim of the Milan Lodge of the Loyal Order of Moose. He was an avid sportsman and golfer, very active in the Boy Scouts, and was a loving father and husband. He will be fondly remembered by friends and family. Surviving are his wife Lorraine; two sons, Thomas of Lincolnton, NC and Robert (Lynda) of Goodlettsville, TN; five daughters, Sandra Wilson of Craig, AK, Carole (Jay) Root of Dexter, Mary Beth Bayer of Ann Arbor, Patricia Tolles of Seattle, WA, and Virginia (Kevin) Elliott of Pinckney; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Helen on May 3, 1989.Memorial service 2 p.m. Thursday, October 14 at St. Andrew's United Church of Christ, 7610 Ann Arbor St., Dexter, with Pastor Gary Kwiatek officiating. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Jacques & Kobs Funeral Home, Tawas.

Wiley, Ollie, Age 81, died Sunday October 3, 1999.

He worked at Ford Motor Company. He was a member of the Milan Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses. He leaves his wife of 59 years, Vera Hunter Wiley; daughter, Teressa C. Wiley McAdoo; grandchildren, Lynette T. McAdoo, Charmane L. McAdoo, Leonard Jr. (Kecia) McAdoo, Terry L. (Kathy) McAdoo, Rosalyn, Grayback, Toya, Ethel Grant and families; and great-grandchildren Carmen T., Leonard III, and Joshua W. McAdoo, Sarah (Joel) McCurdy, Samuel (Margaret) Lapadat; a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Ollie Wiley III. Ollie Jr. was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1953 and was a faithful Witness until his death. A memorial service will be held Wednesday October 6, 1999, 5:30 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 338 Lewis St. Milan. Walter Todd officiating. Ethington, Cullen LeMan, Ypsilanti Township, MI

Age 9, passed away Sunday, October 3, 1999. He was born May 15, 1990in Ypsilanti, MI, the son of Leonard and Cynthia (Richerson) Ethington. He was a 4th grader at Erickson Elementary School, where he was a peer mediator. Cullen loved all sports and loved music, including playing the drums and singing. He attended The Word of Deliverance Church all of his life. Survivors include his parents; four brothers, Jelani, Kalonji, Caleb and Carlton Ethington; grandparents, Joe and Janice Stines of Ypsilanti; one great-grandmother, Quivery Whitfield; and a numerous extended family. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 9, 1999 at Bethesda Bible Church with the Bishop F.E. Holmes Sr of the Word of Deliverance Church officiating with the visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes are available at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel where visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Friday. The family hour will be 7-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Taylor, Martha Helon, Ypsilanti, MI

Age 45, passed away October 5, 1999 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. She was born in Yazoo City, MS on August 31, 1954, the daughter of Tillmon and Elsie (Hammond) Taylor. She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, Angela, Shawn and Tiffany Taylor;ten grandchildren; three brothers, William (Martha) , Fred and Edward (Karen) Taylor; four sisters, Mary Kearney, Ester (Charles) Stevens, Willie Mae Cameron, Dr. Rosannah Taylor; special niece, Patricia Taylor; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Visitation will be Friday from 3-8 p.m. at Lucille's Funeral Home, Ypsilanti. The family hour will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John Baptist Church with funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. Rev. Harvey Leggett will officiating. Burial will be in United Memorial Gardens.

Adams, Gregory M., Howell, MI

Age 47, died Tuesday, October 5, 1999. Funeral will be held 11 a.m. Friday. Visitation Thursday 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. with 7 p.m. scripture service at the MacDonald's Funeral Home, Howell. 517-546-2800

McMullen, Sharan L., Newberry, MI

Wurster, Karl F. Jr., Ann Arbor, MI

Age 73, died suddenly on Tuesday, October 5, 1999 at his home. He was born April 6, 1926 in Ann Arbor, MI, son of Karl F. and Louetta (Schaible) Wurster Sr. He had been an AnnArbor resident for over 51 years. He married Marjorie Noble on July 10, 1948 at the St. Johns Lutheran Church Parsonage, Bridgewater, MI and she survives. Mr. Wurster was employed by Ann Arbor Buick for over 22 years until his retirement in 1988. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II and was a member of the St. Johns Lutheran Church. Survivors include his two daughters, Vickie (Kenneth) Buss of Buies Creek, NC and Jill (Gary) Rymanowicz of Ypsilanti; five grandchildren, Jaime and Kylie Rymanowicz and David, Lisa and Katie Buss; sister, Joan (Donald) Colby; two brothers, David (Ruth) Wurster and Dan (Kaylynn) Wurster; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 9 at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home, Saline, with the Rev. Erling D. Aaserud officiating. Burial will take place in St. John's Lutheran Church cemetery, Bridgewater. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. John's Lutheran Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home where friends may begin calling Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Wilson, Hilda M. (Rice) , Marshall, Michigan

Age 85, formerly of Ypsilanti died Tuesday. She is the daughter of the late Russell and Estella Rice. She is survived by a cousin, Robert Coe of Walled Lake; and close friends, Martha Schnaitman of Marshall, Jack and Constance Finlayson, Winston and Carolyn Finlayson of Petoskey and Tula Stinson of Elkhart, IN. Services will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, the Kempf Funeral Home. Interment will be held 2 p.m. at the Denton cemetery, VanBaren, Township. Memorial contributions to the American Red Cross or the Humane Society. Arrangements are by the Kempf Funeral Home, Marshall, MI.

Walker, Philip Michael, Ann Arbor, MI

(Formerly of Detroit)
Age 52, died October 5, 1999. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Walker of West Virginia, and sister, Barbara Diane Walker. Surviving relatives are his children, Melissa Walker and Philip Michael Walker, Jr., of Detroit; his mother, Megan Walker; and sister, Irene Delyth Balmer of Ann Arbor. He leaves dear friend and buddy, Paula Burnett; and numerous friends and extended family members. Mike served in the US Army, including 3 tours of duty in Vietnam. Mike's gentle, loving presence will be sorely missed by his family and friends. He devoted his life to serving others. What Mike had he gave away freely. He was a talented, creative and sensitive soul who loved nature and had a unique ability to connect with the animal world. Now in mid-life he was beginning to express his true nature. A sudden turn, from an accidental fall, has taken him from beyond our earthly vision, yet his love continues to bless us all. Visitation will be at the MUEHLIG CHAPEL, in Ann Arbor, Friday October 8 from 2-4 p.m and 6-9 p.m. with a prayer vigil at 8 p.m. A graveside service will be led by Rev. David Bell on Saturday, October 9 at 1 p.m. at the Arborcrest cemetery in Ann Arbor, MI. All are welcome to attend.

Legg, Phyllis, Formerly of Ann Arbor, MI

Age 85, died on October 4, 1999 at Chelsea Community Hospital. She was born December 19, 1913 in Davis, West Virginia to Harry and Gretchen Weaver. She graduated from Davis High School and then from Indiana State Teachers College in Indiana, PA. She later moved to Ann Arbor where she was on the staff of The University of Michigan for twenty years. She married Frank E. Legg, Jr., a Professor at the U of M in July of 1971; he preceded her in death on December 19, 1983. Mrs. Legg was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Ypsilanti, and, after moving to Chelsea, joined the First United Methodist Church there. Survivors include two nieces, Mrs. Phyllis Casper of Adrian, MI and Cathy Shuler of Colleyville, TX; her three nephews, Norman Weaver Jr. of Joshua, TX, Robert Weaver of Inkster, MI and Richard Weaver of Riverside, CA. Phyllis' friends are invited to participate in a memorial service on Monday, October 18 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Chelsea Retirement Community, 805 West Middle St, Chelsea, MI, with Chaplain Gordon Schleicher officiating. Following the service, there will be a reception in the living room of the Retirement Community. For more information, please call Connie Amick at 475-8633. Arrangements by Muehlig Chapel.

Predovich, Greta Olson, Ann Arbor, MI

Age 68, died Wednesday, October 6, 1999 at her home in Ann Arbor. She was born on September 14, 1931 in Detroit, MI and she was married to Kenneth Predovich June 25, 1977. Greta attended schools for the deaf in Michigan and Ohio, and was active in organizations for the deaf. Greta's sense of humor and warmth enriched the lived of her family and those who knew her, and she will be dearly missed. Survivors include husband, Kenneth Prodovich; brother, Nels (Mary) Olson of Ann Arbor; nephew, Jon (Julia Vosper) Olson of Milwaukee; nieces, Lydie (Chris) Raschka of New York City; Siri (Jonathan Strom) Olson of Atlanta, and Kari (Charles Tein) Olson of New York City; grand-nephews, Ezra and Ingo; and grand-nieces, Ahna, Madeline and Solveig; and many cousins. Memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Saturday at Lord of Light Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor.

Korn, Louise A., Chelsea, MI

Age 86, died October 6, 1999. She was born on September 9, 1913 in Princeton, KY, the daughter of George and Bedie (Lax) Harmon. She married Robert L. Burns, and then Jacob Korn. Survivors includes one son, Robert L. Burns Jr. of Atlanta, GA; one daughter, Barbara J. (Robert C.) Burton of Chelsea. Arrangements by COLE FUNERAL CHAPEL.

Chance, James Allen, Ypsilanti, MI

Age 82, passed away Sunday, October 3, 1999 at Beyer Hospital. He was born to the late John and Mary Chance in Fayetteville, NC on November 10, 1916. Upon receiving an Honorable discharge from serving in World War II, he relocated to Ypsilanti, MI where he resided for the past 46 years. Until his retirement, he worked construction and was self-employed. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Daisy Chance; one son, James (Joyce) Chance; one daughter, Essie (Bennie) Benjamin; seven grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one sister, Mary B. Bowens; three brothers, Samuel and Joseph Chance, and John Shaw; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 7, 1999 from 4-9 p.m. at McFall Brothers, Inc., 9419 Dexter Ave, Detroit, MI (313-895-8900). Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 8, 1999 at 2:30 p.m. at United Memorial Gardens, 4800 Curtis, Plymouth, MI. Brother Pierre Gillenwater, officiating.
