Eaton-Reding, Rev. Nancy M., DeWitt, MI

The beloved wife of Rivard E. Eaton-Reding. Daughter of Bill and Dee Eaton of Novi. Stepmother of Matthew (Jennifer) Reding of Kalamazoo and Mollie Reding of Boston, MA. Sister of Kathryn (David) Moore of Lake Havasu, AZ and Lynne (David) Buckman; aunt to nieces, Jennifer and Jill Buckman of Novi, MI. Granddaughter of Grace Kartje of Livonia, MI. Nancy and her husband resided in DeWitt, MI. She was born on November 21, 1951 in Detroit. Nancy was currently interim pastor at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Jackson and she had served congregations throughout Michigan. She graduated with a Masters degree of divinity from the Trinity College in Columbus, OH in 1987 and was ordained by Evangelical Lutheran Church of America in 1988. Nancy passed away after a brief struggle with acute Leukemia. She died Sunday, January 30, 2000 at the Ingham Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her family. Services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1505 W. Michigan, in Jackson, Thursday at 11 a.m. with Bishop Gary Hansen, Rev. Nancy Rhode and the Rev. Katherine Werner officiating. At her request, cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home, and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service, at the church. Schlaff, Margaret, Dexter, MI

Age 57, died Tuesday, February 1, 2000 at the University of Michigan. She was born January 19, 1943 in Ann Arbor, daughter of Joseph and Julia (Juergens) Honeck. Margaret was a wonderful grandmother and a person who would take of people; she was always willing to give of herself. Sheis survived by her two sons, Daniel (Michelle) Schlaff of Dexter and Douglas (Tracy) Schlaff of Dexter; grandchildren, Danielle and Micayla Schlaff and David Schlaff; her mother, Julia Honeck; brothers and sisters, Rosie (Don) Nordman, Butch (Suzie) Honeck, Judy (Jim) Wilson, Jerry (Sandra) Honeck, Gary (Mary) Honeck, Don Honeck, Norbert Honeck, and Norman (Carol) Honeck; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Honeck on May 16, 1998 and brother, David Honeck on June 15, 1981. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 3, 2000 at 11 a.m. at HOSMER-MUEHLIG FUNERAL CHAPEL, Dexter with Fr. Brendan Walsh presiding. Interment will bein St. Joseph Catholic cemetery.The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday 12-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m., Thursday from 10-11 a.m. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to the University of Michigan Cancer Center.

Weinlander, Max Martin Ph.D., Big Rapids, MI

Age 82, Clinical Psychologist, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2000at his home near Mecosta. He was a resident of Big Rapids (1980-1998). He is survived by his wife, formerly Albertina Abrams of Mecosta, married June 4, 1955. Also surviving are son, Bruce; three grandchildren, Mitchell, Martin and Sara of Granville, OH; and two nieces, Dee Ora Newcome of Plymouth, OH and Carol Weinlander of Crestline, OH; and several cousins in Michigan. Max was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Paul and Theo; and daughter; Annette Lemons. Max was born in Ypsilanti on September 9, 1917 to Paul and Emma (Lindeman) Weinlander. He graduated from Roosevelt High School where he was known as The Mighty Midget singles tennis player, he was 5'6;other members of the team were 6'or taller. Max earned an A.B. degree (Social Studies) from Eastern Michigan University (1940); an M.A. (Educational Psychology) from University of Michigan (1942); an M.A. (Clinical Psychology) from Wayne State University (1951) and a Ph.D. (Developmental Psychology) from University of Michigan (1955). Max served in the United States Army, 31st Infantry,European Theater from 1942-1945.He was teacher at Oxford and Keego Harbor Schools until 1946. In 1947he was a Psychometrist at the V.A. Hospital, Dearborn. From 1954-1964 he served consecutively as a member of the Parole Board, London, Ohio, Chief Psychologist at the Guidance Center, Springfield, Ohio where he became Acting Director in 1961. From 1964 to 1979 he was the Clinical and Consulting Psychologist, V.A. Hospital which led to his award for superior performance resulting in improved operations (1973). A commendation was presented to him by the V.A.director in Dayton, Ohio for saving a patient's life in a fire (March 6, 1973). Max was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #98,Disabled American Veterans Post #18, all of Big Rapids and the University of Michigan Alumni Club. He will be greatly missed. His work lives on in the many lives he touched, both in his private practice with children and family counseling, as well as with hospitalized veterans. Services will take place this spring,when family can attend at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Big Rapids with interment at Mount Hope cemetery in Mecosta. Contributions in Max Weinlander's memory may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church Roofing Fund or Home Hospice of Mecosta County. Arrangements are by Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids, MI

Below, Luella M., Ann Arbor, MI

Age 83, passed away January 31, 2000 at the Arbor Hospice residence. Mrs. Below was born December 2, 1916 in Northfield Twp., the daughter of William and Jessie (Smith) Miller. On July 16, 1923 she was baptized and May 24, 1931 she was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, Northfield Twp. On August 19, 1961 she married William C. Below of Ann Arbor, who preceded her in death November 8, 1988. Also preceding her in death was an infant daughter, Judith M. and a step-daughter, Dorothy (Below) Lesher. Survivors include special cousins, Donna and Harold Lemon of Whitmore Lake; a special God-child, Gail Girbach; a step son-in-law, Wayne Lesher of Lansing; and several cousins, nephews and nieces; and her many faithful, devoted and sincere friends. Mrs. Below was an employee of the Bell Telephone Company, the Ann Arbor Bank and the Ann Arbor Public Schools. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Ann Arbor and was affiliated with the church Women's Circle 2, ZLCW, The Elks Lodge of Plymouth, the Secretary Association of the Ann Arbor Public Schools, a member of MARSP, and the Inverness Country Club of North Lake. Mrs. Below will be remembered for her hobbies of painting, flower gardening, and her love of animals. Visitation will be at the MUEHLIG CHAPEL Thursday from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 4, 2000 at 11 a.m.at Zion Lutheran Church, 1501 W. Liberty, Ann Arbor. Burial will be at Leland cemetery, Northfield Twp. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church Tower Fund, Arbor Hospice Residence or the Huron Valley Humane Society.

Wells, Helen, Ypsilanti Twp, MI

Age 84, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2000 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. She was born August 9, 1915 in LaGrange, GA, the daughter of James and Bessie (Moses) Hardy. She was a member of St. John's Baptist Church. Those left to cherish her memories include two brothers, Sanders (Erma Lee) Hardy of Detroit and James (Laura) Hardy of LaGrange, GA; one sister, Mildred Scott of New York, NY; one daughter-in-law, Zola Wilburn of Kansas City, MO; one granddaughter, Marla Jean (Vernon) William of TX; one grandson, Albert W. Wilburn III of Kansas City, MO; several nieces and nephews; and a host of godchildren and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Albert W. Wilburn Sr. and her son, Albert W. Wilburn Jr. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 5, 2000 at St. John's Baptist Church with the Rev. Harvey Leggett officiating. Burial will follow in Highland cemetery. The family hour will be from 10:30 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church. Arrangement by STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel.

Grandmother of ten and great-grandmother of one. Sister of Mary, Dutch, Estelle and the late John, Benjamin, Peter, James and Jane. Schiller, Edna, Ann Arbor, MI

(Formerly of Detroit)
Age 90, died Monday, January 31, 2000 at Saline Evangelical Home. She was born November 18, 1909 in Freedom Twp, daughter of William and Louise (Beuerle) Schiller. Edna received her BA in 1932 and MA in 1960 from the University of Michigan. She taught in several Detroit area schools, and was a award winning published poet. She was a member of the U of M Womens Alumni Association of the Greater Detroit Area, and a world traveler with the U of M Alumni Association. Edna is survived by her sisters, Mabel Stollsteimer of Florida and Bertha Hunter of Ann Arbor; brother, Allen Schiller of Whitmore Lake; 12 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Lila Steeb and Alta Harris. The graveside service will be 3:15 p.m. Thursday at Bethlehem cemetery with the Rev. Gregory Smith officiating. Those who wish may make memorials to Saline Evangelical Home or the Bethlehem United Church of Christ. Arrangements by MUEHLIG CHAPEL.

Mueller, Robert J. Jr., Pinckney, MI

Age 50, died Monday, January 31, 2000 after a sudden illness. Born in Canton, OH, he was a 1967 graduate of the Central Catholic High School and had attended the Cleveland Electronics Institute. He was presently employed by Wyle Systems German electronics firm. Robert was a U.S. Army Veteran. Survived by his parents, Robert J. and Mildred Mueller of Canton, OH; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Charles Schaefer of Green, OH, Maryann Mueller of Ft. Myers, FL and Patricia Miller of Dayton, OH; two brothers, Conrad and Donald Mueller, both of Canton; a niece, Kelly Miller of Navarre; and nephew, Gregory Gelet of Chicago, IL. A Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in St. John's Catholic Church with Fr. Ronald Klingler as Celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 6-9 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home, 14th and Cleveland Ave N.W., Canton, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Allwardt, Rachel C., Ann Arbor, MI

passed away at Glacier Hills on January 31, 2000. She was born in DeWitt, MI on February 4, 1912 to Fenton and Alta Brink. She graduated from Central Michigan University and taught school in DeWitt, Lansing, Wyandotte and Japan for 37 years- a devoted teacher. She married Helmuth Allwardt in 1965 and they traveled extensively around the world. They lived in Florida and after his death she returned to Michigan. Until her recent illness, she had lived at Brookhaven for 8 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two sisters. She leaves a sister, Mrs Paul (Florence) Lavender; a niece, Mrs Kent (Tamara) Howe; and two nephews, Thomas (Susan) Lavender and Clark (Lynn) Gregory of Annandale, VA. She also had many great-nieces and nephews. She wasa member of the Lutheran Church of the Palms in Palm Harbor and a co-member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor. A memorial service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church Chapel at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 7, 2000. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements by MUEHLIG FUNERAL CHAPEL.

Lee, Mrs. Willie Mae (Clark),

God called her to rest on February 4, 2000. She was born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Nelson and Alberta (Woods) Clark on October 23, 1921 in Itta Bena, Mississippi. She met her husband, James Lee at the New Home Baptist Church in 1941 in Itta Bena, MS and they were joined in Holy Matrimony on March 22, 1946. She was a Born Again Christian in the early 1950'sunder the leadership of the late Elder Horace Jackson at Bethany Apostolic Church in Wayne. In 1985, she by her husbands side, moved her membership to Bethlehem Temple Church of Belleville. She leaves to cherish her memories her loving and devoted husband of 53 years, James Lee; her two daughters, Alberta (Curtis) Chinn and Emma (David) Turner; a granddaughter, Crystal (Kevin) Jones; a grandson, Anthony Chinn; one great-grandson, Alex; two sisters, Louise Clark and Annie White; two brothers, Walter (Ida) Clark and Nelson Clark; and one deceased, brother L.C. She is also survived by cousins, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, a host of nieces and nephews, and the church family. The family will receive friends visiting during the family hour on Thursday, February 10th from 7-8 p.m. at the Bethlehem Temple Church, 45100 Willow Road, Belleville, MI. Funeral services 11 a.m. Friday, February 11, 2000 at the Church with Pastor Elliott Karo officiating. Internment will be in United Memorial Gardens cemetery.
