Age 62, passed away January 28, 2000. Mr. Cantrell is survived by his wife, Mary E. Cantrell of O'Fallon, MO; her daughter, Christine (Mike) Erb; sons, Tom of O'Fallon, MO and John of Newberry, MI; grandson, Austin of O'Fallon, MO; three granddaughters of Newberry, MI. Services were held January 31 in St. Peters, MO.

Merry, Henry J.,

A Professor Emeritus of Political Science of Purdue University passed away January 24, 2000 in Ann Arbor, MI. Mr. Merry was born September 28, 1908, the son of Earl D. Merry and Lillian Eck Merry of Pontiac, MI. He earned his degrees from University of Michigan, American University, Harvard University and a Ph.D. from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Mr. Merry worked in the national government for several years and also did private legal work. He was an associate professor at Northern Illinois University, then of Purdue University Claumet Campus. Mr. Merry authored several books on political science. His writing appeared in American Bar Journal and other journals. A memorial service is being planned for early March in Ann Arbor. Parker, Marilyn A., Brighton, MI

Age 61, died Monday, February 7, 2000. Survivors include her husband, Lawrence and five children. Visitation will be Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at Lamb Funeral Home, Howell.

Plant, Florence Eliza Willis, Ypsilanti, MI

Age 92, died Monday, February 7, 2000. Born the third of five children on June 12, 1907 to Margaret (Johnston) and George Wesley Willis in West Laren, Ontario. She grew up in the nearby small town of Wardsville, Ontario, Canada. In 1931 she married Ernest W. Plant in Glenco, Ontario, Canada. The first settled in Detroit, later moving to Plymouth, Michigan. After his death in 1961, she moved to Ypsilanti, Michigan. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Ann Southgate (Robert) of Ann Arbor; grandchildren, Ruth Anne Southgate-Otto (Charles), Jane Elizabeth Southgate Held (Richard), Sara Margaret Southgate McCormick (Patrick), William Kenneth Hawes III (Lisa), Robert Ernest Hawes and great grandchildren, Stephanie Held, William Held, Robert Held, Heather Held, Ryan McCormick, Alexander McCormick, with another expected this summer. In 1998 she was preceded in death by her daughter, Ella Margaret Plant Hawes. Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 10th at Douglas Memorial Chapel of First Congregational Church, 608 East William Street in Ann Arbor. Interment at a later time in Woodslee, Ontario. Memorial gifts may be sent to Arbor Hospice, 2366 Oak Valley Drive, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48103. Folk, L. Craig, Brighton, MI

He married Ellen Genevieve Sullivan in 1959 and she survives. Visitation Wednesday 6-9pm, Thursday 2-9pm, Rosary 7:30pm. Prayers 10:30amFriday at Bell-Borek Funeral Home, Hamburg, (810) 231-0200, followed by 11am Funeral Mass at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

Urton, Ruth L., Cherokee Village, AK

(Formerly of Plymouth, MI)
Age 78, died Saturday, February 5, 2000 in Cherokee Village, AK. She worked as an administrative officer for the government. She came to the Plymouth Community in 1926 from Livonia. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Peace Lutheran Church in AR. She was treasurer of Superior Township from 1971 to 1984. She was also very active in several clubs and organizations in Cherokee. Surviving are her husband, Albert of Arkansas; one stepson, James (Barbara) Urton of Marblehead, OH; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; her sisters, Esther Merryfield and Evelyn LeFever, both of Plymouth; brothers, Edwin Ash, and Russell (Virginia) Ash, both of Plymouth, MI. She was preceded in death by her two sons, Thomas Clifford Urton and Donald Charles Urton. She was a loving wife, mother, step-mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Funeral will be Thursday, February 10 at 11 a.m. at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home with Pastor James Hoff officiating. Burial at Washtenong Memorial Park, Ann Arbor, MI. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Livonia, MI.

Glesner, Shirley Mae, Ann Arbor, MI

Age 70, died Friday, February 4, 2000 at her home after a brief illness. She was born February 25, 1929 in Ann Arbor, the daughter of Harlan C. and Hazel Mae (Hulbert) Roos. Shirley was a life long Ann Arbor resident. She married William G. Glesner Sr. on August 15, 1952; he preceded her in death on August 24, 1992. Shirley was a member of the Bethlehem United Church of Christ and Moose Lodge #1253. She had been a long-time employee of the Edwards Brothers Printing and University of Michigan Data Systems Center, retiring on November 21, 1986. Shirley is survived by her son, William Jr. (Suzan) of Ann Arbor; daughters, Becky (Carl) Wright of Ann Arbor and Brenda Chan of Canton; grandchildren, Jennifer Chan, James and John Wright; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brothers, Robert Charles Roos and Harlan Carl (Sox) Roos Jr. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 8 at 2:30 p.m. at Bethlehem United Church of Christ with Reverend Greg Smith presiding. Interment at Bethlehem cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Hospice of Washtenaw or to Cardio/Pulmonary Rehab of St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. Arrangements by MUEHLIG CHAPEL.

Boiciuk, Anna M., Ann Arbor, MI

Age 88, died on Tuesday, February 8, 2000 at the home of her son. Anna was a member of the St. Peter and Paul Romanian Orthodox Church in Dearborn, MI. She retired in 1974 from the Chrysler Corp after numerous years. Anna is survived by her daughters, Gladys (Richard) Dettling, Catherine M. Fortais; son, William D. (Georgeta) Boiciuk; her grandchildren, Richard (Charlene) Dettling, Debrah Dettling, George (Suzanne) Fortais, Barbara (Scott) Pierpont; great-grandchildren, Juliette (Anthony) Trinkle, Andrew E. Dettling, Alex G. Fortais and Jennifer K. Fortais; great-great-grandchild, Mitchell K. Pierpont; great-great-great-grandchild, Alissa Trinkle; her sisters, Dora Podetz and Rose Watt, both of Hamilton, Ontario; several nieces and nephews. Visitation both Thursday and Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Muehlig Chapel, 403 S. Fourth Ave. Prayer service will be held 7 p.m. both nights. Funeral 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 12, 2000 at Holy Dormition Romanian Orthodox Monastery, 3389 Rives Eaton Rd, Rives Junction, MI with Father Rome Rosco, Father Felix Dubnec and Father Michael Iancu officiating. Interment 2 p.m. at St. Mary's cemetery, Grass Lake.

Anderson, Alberta, Ann Arbor, MI

Mrs. Anderson departed this life on Sunday, February 6, 2000 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. She was born to Will Dennis and Ella Anderson Dennis, her parents, on October 5, 1915. In 1932, she married David L. Webb, Sr. and unto this union three children were born. In 1971, she was re-married to Robert J. Anderson until his passing in 1986. She worked for the Parke-Davis Corporation and ultimately retired from the Ann Arbor Public School System. She attended New Hope Baptist Church where she was a member of the Usher Board. Cherishing her memory are her three children, Beulah L. (Jasper) Gatson Sr. of Ann Arbor, David L. (Rochelle) Webb Jr. of Chicago, IL and Dorothy James of Ypsilanti; seven step-children, Robert (Lillie) Anderson of Detroit, Fred (Georgia) Anderson of Ann Arbor, Bobby (Debbie) of Ypsilanti, Ernestine (Theotis) Brown of Ypsilanti, Pecola (Jr.) Lewis of Ypsilanti, David (Pat) Anderson of Ypsilanti and Sherene (Gordon) Brown of Ann Arbor; four sisters, Ethel Gator of Alton, IL, Lucy Dixon of Alton, IL, Lennie Pettis of Oxford, MS and Flora Smith of Moro, AR. A sister, Mamie Cooper of Oxford, MS; and brothers, Willie Dennis of Oxford, MS and Jimmy Hunt of Detroit, MI preceded her in death; 11 grandchildren, with the loss of one, beloved Darrick; 19 great-grandchildren, with the loss of one, beloved Torry; and nine great-great-grandchildren. Very special friends, Dorothy Copeland of Ann Arbor, MI and Leta Curry of Atlanta, GA, and an abundant host of other very, very close family and friends. On Thursday, February 10, 2000 family and visitation is at 11 a.m. with the funeral service following at 12 Noon at New Hope Baptist Church, 120 Chapin St., Ann Arbor, the Rev. Albert Lightfoot officiating. Burial to follow at United Memorial Gardens cemetery.

Siefkes, Rev. Ulrich Luther, Pinckney, MI

Age 71, died Friday, February 4, 2000 in Bullhead City, Arizona. Memorial service 11 a.m. Saturday, February 12 at Grace Lutheran Church of Howell, 312 Prospect. (517-546-3350)

Lennon, Susanna Finlay, Went home to be with her Lord on

Tuesday, February 8, 2000. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Ernest; three sons, Thomas, Bradley, and Richard of Dayton, OH; and her grandchildren, Wendy Sharpe, Marcy, and Chad Lennon of Florida. She gave of her heart and touched many lives in her 78 years. Serving as a Wave during WWII, as a school teacher, founder of Operation Home Front, and as an inspirational writer and poet. Many of her works were published and broadcasted. Her later years were spent volunteering her time to teach children and adults the world of reading. She also sponsored many less fortunate children abroad. She is loved and missed by many. Memorial visitation and services will be held Saturday, February 12, 2000 from 2-4:30 p.m. at Muehlig Funeral Home, 403 S. Fourth Ave., Ann Arbor, MI. In lieu of flowers, make a donation to your favorite charity and perform a good deed for someone from the love of your heart.

Harris, George Edward, Ypsilanti Township, MI

Age 72, died Wednesday, February 9, 2000. He was born November 27, 1927 in Prestonsburg, KY, the son of Walter and Betty (Dials) Harris. Survivors include his two sisters, Goldie Goble of Lehigh, FL and Harmon (Bob) Gardner of Ypsilanti; two brothers, Walter (Nell) Harris of Wadesboro, NC and Frank (Bonnie) Goble of Ypsilanti Funeral service 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 12 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel with Rev. Walker Harris of Belleville Free Will Baptist Church officiating. Burial to follow in Highland cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.Envelopes are available at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 1-3 and 6-9 p.m. Friday

Korpal, Brian Joseph, Ypsilanti, MI

Age 42, died suddenly Wednesday, February 9, 2000. He was born June 28, 1957 in Wyandotte, MI, the son of Donald and Patricia (Demick) Korpal. On May 22, 1982, he married Sibyl Stock and she survives. Brian had been employed by Eastern Michigan University for 20 years. He had also delivered papers for the Ann Arbor News for 10 years. Brian was active in the Ypsilanti American Little League coaching for several years and he was currently on the Little League Board He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. In addition to his wife, survivors include his parents of Wyandotte; four children, Scott, Kevin, Aaron and Melany, all at home; and his brother Gary of Wyandotte. Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 12 at Transfiguration Catholic Church with Fr. Edmond Ertzbischoff of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church,celebrant Cremation will follow. Memorials may be made to the Ypsilanti American Little League. Envelopes are available at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel where the family will receive friends 4-9 p.m.Friday and at the Transfiguration Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday.
