Laverty, Joyce Anne,

passed away February 10, 2000. Born June 17, 1935. She was a graduate of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She was a member of St. Michael's and All Angles Episcopal Church in Dallas, TX. She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, John of 44 years; daughter, Lynn Laverty-Kis and husband, George Phoenixville, PA; son, John M. Laverty and wife, Susan of Yorktown, IN; a daughter, Cathy Dunn and husband, Karl of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Katherine Laverty-Kis, Claire and Anne Laverty, and Nicholas Dunn. She was most proud and happy to be a member of this family that she loved so dearly. May her love for the ocean and the continual lapping of the waves upon the shore be a reminder that she lives on in each loved one. Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m., Friday, February 18, 2000, at St. Michael's and All Angles Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to The Susan G. Grabitz, Paul, Semmes, AL

(Formerly of Ypsilanti, MI)
Age 81, passed away in his home on January 22, 2000. He is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Robert) Maier; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother Roman; and two sisters, Irene and Helen. A memorial service is being planned for mid-March at the Ypsilanti Moose Lodge, where Mr. Grabitz was a member for almost 40 years. For further information please call 517-851-4074

passed away February 11, 2000 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. She was born March 16, 1932. Survivors include her husband, Charles L. Smith; two daughters, Leslie (Butch) Allison, Tammy (Ron) Lay; one son, Charles (Dyan) Smith Jr.; seven grandchildren, April, Chastity (Jason), Teresa, Randi, Stephen, Kevin, Jeffrey; also surviving are many family and friends. Viewing will be Monday, February 14, 2000, at 2:00 p.m. Funeral Services will follow at 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow funeral services at Washtenog Memorial Park. Johnson, Thomas N., Augusta Twp., MI

Mr. Johnson, age 56, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2000 at his residence in the loving care of his family. He was born March 20, 1943 in Ann Arbor, MI, son of the late Richard Johnson and Marian (Laidlaw) Horton Mr. Johnson was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local #687 and he also served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He is survived by his loving companion, Rebecca Roth; daughter, Michelle Shelli (John) McKiernan of Jacksonville, NC; two sons, Thom Johnson of Grass Lake, MI, and Jason Johnson of Belleville; one step-son, Franklin Johnson of Belleville; his mother, Marian Horton; and step-father, Alan Horton, both of Willis, MI. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Garrett Atkins, DeMarco and Anna Young. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Johnson; and his sister, Judy Johnson. In State DAVID C. BROWN FUNERAL HOME 460 E. Huron River Drive, Belleville, MI, where friends may call from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Sunday and 6-9 p.m. Monday. Services 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 15 at the funeral home with Rev. William Hale Pastor of Hospice of Southeastern Michigan, officiating. Interment, Highland cemetery, Ypsilanti. Memorial contributions made to Hospice of Southeastern Michigan, would be appreciated.

Kerkhoff, Mary L., Ann Arbor, MI

Age 86, died February 11,2 000 at Arbor Hospice. She was born September 11, 1913 in Kewanee, IL, the daughter of Emil and Ameilie Landuyt. She was married to Gerard O. Kerkhoff who preceded her in death on May 15, 1983. Mary was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and formally a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dexter. She is survived by three daughters, Marilyn (Robert) Peltzer of Boulder, CO, Camilla (Lynwood) Noah of Chelsea and Dorothy Lieffers of Ann Arbor; five grandchildren, Gerard R. Peltzer of California, Katherine R. (Tim) Hylton of Ohio, Mary Lynn Noah (James Wilfong) of Lansing, Alicia (Giles) Nolan of New York, and Sara Anne Noah (Gary Thomas) of Colorado; sister, Louise Borkhuis of South Dakota; sister-in-law, Hazel Montross of Port Huron and brother in law, Jean Brown of Oregon. She was preceded in death by her sister, Camilla Brown; brothers, Rene Landuyt and Louis Landuyt, and son-in-law, Rick Lieffers. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 14, 2000, 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in Dexter with Fr. Brendon Walsh officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph cemetery, Dexter. Visitation will be held at the HOSMER MUEHLIG CHAPEL Dexter on Sunday at 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. with a scripture service at 7 p.m. Mass cards will be available at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Motor Meals of Ann Arbor or to the charity of donors choice.

Wysocki, John F., Belleville, MI

Age 63, passed away Friday, February 11, 2000 at his residence of 35 years. He was born November 6, 1936 in Hamtramck, MI. He was born and raised in Detroit, MI. John was united in marriage to Sue on June 12, 1958 in Redford, MI. He was an US Army Veteran, and also a member of the Belleville Moose Lodge #934. He retired from Central Transport. Survivors include his wife, Sue; one son, Douglas (Cheryl) of Newport, MI; two daughters, Sharon Lesniak of Belleville, Sandy (Paul) Innes of Belleville; one brother, David J. Wysocki of Warren, MI; and seven grandchildren. Visitation will be held Monday 2-9 p.m. at David C. Brown Funeral Home in Belleville. Services will be Tuesday 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home with Rev. Andrew Wesley of Transfiguration Catholic Church in Detroit. There will be a private cremation. Moose service will be held Monday at 7 p.m.

Wheaton, Florence S., Chelsea, MI

(Formerly of Ann Arbor, MI)
Age 83, died Monday, February 7, 2000 at Chelsea Retirement Community, her home since April 1986. She was born to Ernest and Violette (Bristol) Green, August 7, 1916 in Millington, MI. After her father's death she moved to Ann Arbor with her mother and older brother James E. Green. She married Richard Wheaton in 1952, and he preceded her in death in 1985. Florence was a devoted and active member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Ann Arbor. She was an officer in the VFW Auxiliary Post 423 and a member of Kings Daughters. As a worker in the King Seeley plant, she made her contribution during World War II, among other work. She was the homemaker not only for her cherished husband, but also for her mother, who lived with them for many years before her death.Florence participated in and enjoyed many activities at the Chelsea Retirement Community until her final, prolonged illness. Florence leaves many friends and family members, including Gordon Wheaton, her brother-in-law; Bee Green, her sister-in-law;Roland Green, her nephew; and Violette, Roland's daughter. All of them are grateful for happy memories in her company. A special time to remember service will be held Thursday, February 17, at 3 p.m. in the K-1 Unit of the Chelsea Retirement Community, 805 W. Middle St., Chelsea. Burial will take place at a later time at Arborcrest cemetery in Ann Arbor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chelsea Retirement Community or Calvary United Methodist Church in Ann Arbor. Arrangements by COLE FUNERAL CHAPEL, Chelsea.

Moore, Hazel R. (Gladding), Augusta Twp., MI

Age 84, loving wife of Clyde E. Moore slipped peacefully from her sleep into the eternal presence of the Lord, she so dearly loved on Friday, February 11, 2000. Hazel was born the daughter of George and Minnie Gladding on October 17, 1915, on a farm in Wolverine, MI, a place she fondly remembered. In addition to Clyde, her husband of 66 years, Hazel is survived by her son, Archie (Joan) Moore of Plymouth, MI; daughter Joann (Gale) Hall of Augusta Twp.; and one sister Neta Hule of Ypsilanti; three grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson also cherish her memory. Hazel retired from Ford Motor Company in the mid seventies after 30 years of dedicated service. She was preceded in death by brothers, Henry and Louis; sister, Isabelle; and by grandson, David Moore. Funeral service will be held Monday, February 14, 2000 at 1:30 p.m. at the JANOWIAK FUNERAL HOME, GEER-LOGAN CHAPEL with Pastor Blake W. Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Stoney Creek cemetery, Augusta, MI. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-8 p.m.

Meyer, Donald G., Whitmore Lake, MI

Age 82, died Friday February 11, 2000 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. Donald was born in Cleveland, OH on April 8, 1917 to Gustav E. Meyer and Hilda L. Dunsiviler Meyer. He worked for 45 years as a Supervisor for the Detroit area Department of Transportation, formerly the Detroit DSR, retiring in 1981. He is preceded in death by his wife, Nina in January 1994. Donald is survived by his sons, Donald (Sharon) Meyer, and Ronald Meyer. He is also survived by grandchildren, Darryl Meyer, Jennifer (Patrick) Steele,Angela Meyer and Dear friends, Virginia Storlie and Melanee Smith. Family Services will be private at a later date. Spoon, Harry, West Bloomfield, MI

Age 80, died February 13, 2000. A builders builder of residential and commercial property. He was the beloved husband of the late Mildred Spoon; dear father of Linda (Jack Simonton) Spoon-Simonton, Jeffrey (Terri Ginsburg) Spoon, and Alan (Terri) Spoon; grandfather of Michael and Huri Kushner, Benjamin and Jeffrey (Debbie) Simonton, Jae-Jae and Jeremy Spoon, Ryan, Leigh and Randy Spoon, Jacob, Noah and Orli Ginsburg; brother of Shirley Barak. Sweet, Maxwell G, Ann Arbor, MI

(Formerly of Chelsea)
Died Sunday morning, February 13, 2000 at HIllside Terrace Retirement Residence in Ann Arbor after a long bout with Parkinson's disease. Max was born April 11, 1913, the son of the late Glenn and Ethel (Mosure) Sweet in Carsonville, MI. Max served as a Captain in the US Army Infantry in World War II and was decorated with the Purple Heart and received two bronze battle stars. He received his MBA from the University of Michigan in 1948 and went on to a successful career as a C.P.A., retiring from Giffles Associates in Southfield in 1978. In the middle fifties he served as mayor of Chelsea. Mr. Sweet was a former chair of Washtenaw Chapter of the American Red Cross and was member of First Presbyterian Church of Ann Arbor. His life was characterized by devotion to his family and service to his community. Those who love and will miss him include his wife of 58 years, Shirley (nee Payne); daughter, Rebecca Glenn Sweet and her husband, Roland Loup and her daughter, Summer Alexis Sweet; son, William Mosure Sweet; son, Robert Elam Sweet and his wife Burgunda Volger Sweet and their children, Alexander Benedict Sweet, Aaron Maxwell Sweet, and Nicholas William Sweet, all of Ann Arbor; his brother, John Burton Jack Sweet of Sandusky, MI; numerous other relatives, neighbors, friends and business associates. His brothers, Allan and William Melford Sweet preceded him in death. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, February, 16 at First United Methodist Church, Chelsea with Rev. Richard E. Dake and Rev. David Krehbiel officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea and at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until hour of service.
