Mrs. Riker died February 19, 2000 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital after an extended illness. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Dr. Donald Riker; and her two daughters, Susan Riker of Knoxville, TN and Amy Riker of Tuscon, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, Philip and Bertha Provencher and her brother, Richard Provencher. No services are scheduled. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements by NIE FUNERAL HOME, 2400 Carpenter Rd.

Foerster, Elizabeth M. Bessie, Salem Township, MI

Age 81, passed away February 19, 2000 in Howell. She was born November 13, 1918 in Kingston, Ontario, Canada to the late William and Mary J. Hannah Porter. Mrs. Foerster came to the Salem Twp community 57 years ago. She was a homemaker and loved to read and do puzzles; she also loved her cat. Survivors include her four children, Patricia (Harry) Detweiler of California, Mary L. Rudd of Ann Arbor Sandra (Clinton) Hoard of Gregory and Norman Jr. (Lois) of Hamburg; brothers, Ray Porter of Manchester and Tom Porter of Gregory; sisters, Marion (Irvine) Rummler of Dexter, Gertrude Eisele of Manchester and Connie (Edwin) Wright of Wellston, MI; twelve grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and by her husband Norman Foerster Sr. Funeral services Tuesday, February 22, 2000 at 1 p.m. at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home with Pastor Drex Morton officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery, Plymouth, MI. Memorial tributes may be made to the charity of your choice

Wilson, John R., Leslie, MI

(Formerly of Ypsilanti)
Age 78, died Saturday, February 19, 2000 at Foote Hospital in Jackson. He was born January 15, 1922 in Ironton, OH, son of Edward and Eva (Lohr) Wilson. John had lived in the areafor the past nine years and enjoyed winters in Inverness, Florida. He also loved sports, gardening and watching wild birds. He worked for NSK in Ann Arbor for 31 years retiring in 1984. He was a Veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army. On December 24, 1948 he married Eleanor Willett and she survives. Also surviving are one son, Steven (Daisy) Wilson of Stockbridge; two daughters, Janet West of Leslie, MI and Sue (Robert) Ashby of Ypsilanti; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Emory; and a sister, Carrie Ferguson. Funeral services 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2000 at the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home, Stockbridge, Rev. Dr. Robert Henning officiating. Burial will follow at the Fitchburg cemetery in Bunker Hill Twp, MI. Expressions of sympathy can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Kidney Foundation. The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m.

Schneider, Richard K.,

Age 71, passed away February 19, 2000 at home. He was born on March 29, 1928 in Ann Arbor, MI to Herbert and Pauline (Koch) Schneider. He was married to Jean Stachelek on October 23, 1989. Formerly from Ann Arbor, he moved to South Lyon approximately 17 years ago. He had been a former employee of Erwin Orchards. Richard was a member and trustee of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He belonged to the Early Engine Club in Ypsilanti. Richard is survived by his wife, Jean Schneider of South Lyon; his children, Joan Cottrell of Ypsilanti, Ellen (Kurt) Siller of Ann Arbor, Debbie Hill of South Lyon, Frank Baker of Ypsilanti; his grandchildren, Alise, Alexandria, Matthew, and Marie. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1-4 & 6-9 p.m. Final visitation will be from 10:15 to 11a.m. on Wednesday. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home, 122 West Lake St (Ten Mile), South Lyon. Interment will follow at South Lyon cemetery. Memorials in Richard's memory may be made to the Humane Society or to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 7701 East M-36, Hamburg, MI 48139.

Nelson, Pauline Elizabeth, Ann Arbor, MI

Age 86, passed away at home Sunday, February 20, 2000. She was born on January 16, 1914, in Wilkinsburg, PA, the daughter of William Roy and Martha Ellen Patrick Woodward. She studied social work at the University of Michigan where she received her AB in 1935. She worked at a settlement house in Toledo, OH, until 1937 when she married Wilbur Nelson. She and her family lived in Washington, DC and Ames, Iowa, prior to moving to Ann Arbor in 1947. She served on the Board of Directors of Lurie Terrace Senior Living Apartments, volunteered at Maxey Boys Training School, and volunteered with U of M International Neighbors. She was a great lover of arts and crafts. She hosted craft-making get-togethers as part of her volunteer work and family activities. She raised a large family of one daughter and five sons, as well as being a favorite friend of several neighborhood children and young adults. She had supported many organizations, including the Ann Arbor Environmental Center and the American Friends Service Committee and was a member of the Northside Presbyterian Church. She is survived by a sister, Patricia Cautley; children, Patricia Smiley of San Francisco, CA, Gregory Nelson of Ann Arbor, Doug Nelson of Ann Arbor, David Nelson of Rochester, NY; seven grandchildren, Leah Lujan, Paula Smiley, Erica Watia-Smiley, Demian Smiley, Maya Smiley, Robie Smiley, Michael Nelson; and one grandchild, Anthony Beron. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur; and two sons Bruce and John. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Friends Service Committee. Memorial service will be held Saturday, February 26,1 p.m. at the Northside Presbyterian Church, 1679 Broadway, Ann Arbor. Arrangements: MUEHLIG CHAPEL

Kerwin, Mary S., South Lyon, MI

Age 84, died Tuesday, February 22, 2000. Wife of the late William. Mother of Frank (Sue), Louise Authement, Tom (Winnie), Mark (Lynda), Mathew (Marian), Sara Gregory (Kris), and the late Rose Anne. Also 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one sister, and two brothers. Memorial service Saturday, February 26, 2000, 10 a.m. at Oak Chapel at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens cemetery (Novi at 12 Mile) Memorials to Alzheimer's would be appreciated. Liwosz, Carolyn Lee, Northfield Township, MI

Age 57, died February 22, 2000 at home. She was born the daughter of Thomas and Evelyn (Carrigan) Douillard on July 20, 1942 in Detroit, MI. On April 14, 1965 in Dearborn, MI, Carolyn married her loving husband, Dennis. She spent her life as a homemaker and a mother. In addition to her husband, Dennis, Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Denise (Michael) Lawrence of Ypsilanti; two grandchildren, Desiree Liwosz and Indeya Lawrence; one great-grandchild, Desmond Hobbs; and her two brothers, Thomas Douillard and Paul Sharp. Visitation Friday, February 25, from 3-6 p.m. with the funeral service at 6 p.m. at BELL-BOREK FUNERAL HOME in Hamburg.

Robinson, Julia B. (Ms. Judy), Ypsilanti, MI

passed away February 20, 2000.Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 25 at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 410 S. Adams, Ypsilanti.

Vezina, John Hughes, Ann Arbor, MI

Age 79, passed away on February 21, 2000 at home in the presence of his family. He was born June 2, 1920 in Escanaba to George Elsear Vezina and Lillian Hughes Vezina. The family moved to Blaney Park, MI in 1925. He was a graduate of Flint Central High School, attended the University of Michigan from 1938-1942 and was a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity. He entered the U.S. Military Service in 1942, serving overseas in the ETO with the 106th Infantry Division asa Sergeant. In December of 1944, while participating in the Battle of the Bulge, Jack was captured by the Germans and liberated in April 1945. Honorably discharged in November 1945, he received many medals for meritorious achievement and wounds in combat that included the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He returned to Ann Arbor to finish his education, receiving an A.B. Degree in 1947. He was a member of the 1947 UofM Big Ten Championship Golf Team, Ann Arbor City Golf Champion, Barton Hills Country Club Golf Champion. His most thrilling golfing experience was being the amateur partner of Babe Didrikson Zaharias during an exhibition match. He was married April 30, 1949 to Margaret Whitker Sadler; and they celebrated their 50th anniversary on April 30, 1999. Jack was a former purchasing manager of Chrysler's Introl Division, retiring in 1982 after 30 years service. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, past usher and deacon. He was also a former member and past director of Barton Hills Country Club, Travis Pointe Country Club and on the Board of Directors of Cap, Inc.In addition, he served United Wayas Industry Chairman, was a former member of UofM Men's Club, U of M Club of Ann Arbor, and UofM Alumni Association. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Paul and George Vezina; sisters, Nina Current, Mary Ziegel and Frances Carlton. He is survived by his wife; a sister, Jane White; and many nieces and nephews. Private entombment will be held at Washtenong Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Glaucoma Research at the U of M Kellogg Eye Center, 1000 Wall Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48105 or the American Cancer Society, Washtenaw County Unit, 2385 S. Huron Pkwy, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48104. Arrangements by Muehlig Chapel.

Laubengayer, Arnold F., Ann Arbor, MI

Age 74, died on Tuesday, February 22, 2000 at his home. He was born in Scio Township on January 19, 1926, the son of Herman and Henrietta Jedele Laubengayer. In 1946 he married Ethel Ostrander and she survives.Mr. Laubengayer was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and was a member of IBEW Local 252 for over 50 years. He was also a Veteran ofthe U.S. Army. In 1953 he co-founded Arrow Electric in Ann Arbor. In addition to his wife Ethel, he is survived by two daughters, Suzanne (David) Bolhouse of Ypsilanti and Constance Bowers of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; histwo grandchildren, Michael (Marcia) Bolhouse of Charlevoix and Sheila (Ronald) Keltsch of Kalamazoo. Two sisters, Charlotte Schneider and Eva Root of Ann Arbor also survive. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert and his parents. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2000 at the MUEHLIG CHAPEL, Rev. Robert Hoepner will officiate. Burial will be in Washtenong Memorial Park. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, are suggested to Hospice of Washtenaw or to Redeemer Lutheran Church.
