LAWRENCE, Lavern (Vern)
- Of Flint, formerly of Davison, age 43, died Friday, May 28, 1999 as a result of an accident at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, 1999 at the Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Pastor Jack Dowden officiating. Burial in Crestwood cemetery. Mr. Lawrence will lie in state at the funeral home where family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 6-9 PM Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a memorial fund in Vern's name.
LeVASSEUR, Dolores A.
- Of Mundy Township, age 63, died Sunday, May 30, 1999 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12Noon, Thursday, June 3, 1999 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley Street, Father Douglas Osborn officiating. Burial in New Calvary Catholic cemetery. Those desiring, may make contributions to St. John Vianney Memorial Fund. Visitation 6-9PM Tuesday and 1-9PM Wednesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A scripture service will be held at 4PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. LeVasseur was born in Oak Hill, West Virginia on June 11, 1935, the daughter of Charles A. and Elsie (King) Dooley and was a resident of the Flint area since 1955. She married Gerald L. LeVasseur on September 19, 1959 in Flint. She was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Surviving are her husband, Gerald of Mundy Township; children, Gerald, II of Mt. Morris Township, Catherine of Mundy Township, James of Richfield Township and Thomas of Mundy Township; brother, Charles K. (Jeanette) Dooley of Millington; step-brother, Tony Skipper (Bonnie) of Swartz Creek. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant children, Charles and Rebecca.

FABIAN, Mary C.
- Of Deerton, formerly of Flushing, age 79, died Sunday, May 30, 1999 at Marquette General Hospital. A Funeral Mass will be held 11AM Thursday, June 3, 1999 at St. Robert Catholic Church, Fr. Steven Makranyi will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Robert Catholic cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9PM Wednesday at Rossell Funeral Home. A scripture service will be 8PM Wednesday at the funeral home and a rosary service will follow. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to First Catholic Slovak Union-Jednota.
FORD, Gladys E.
- Age 88, of Mt. Morris Twp., died Monday, May 24, 1999 at her daughter's residence. A Memorial Service will be held 11AM Thursday, June 3, 1999 at Mayfair Bible Church, G-5339 W. Pierson Rd., Flushing, with Pastor Len Lason officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Mayfair Bible Church or Community Home Health Hospice. The Memorial service will honor both Gladys and her husband Clarence who passed away September 27, 1989. Gladys was born on August 9, 1910 in Bancroft, MI, the daughter of Alva and Florence Johnson. Surviving are: children, Jack and wife Lois Ford of Vassar, Carol "Pat" Baird of Flint, Douglas and wife Laura Ford of Orlando, FL, Florence and husband Bud Smith of Greenbush, MI, Leslie and wife Doreen Ford of Greenbush, MI and Janet and husband Leroy Wilson of Durand; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; 1 sister; and 4 half-brothers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; and her son, Russell Ford.
FOUST, Joan Carole
- Age 60, of Fenton, died Tuesday, June 1, 1999 at St. Joseph Hospital, Ann Arbor. Funeral services will be 11AM Friday, June 4, 1999 at the King of Glory Lutheran Church, 6012 E. River Rd., (the corner of River/Beecher Rds.), Flushing, Pastor Elaine M. Gomulka officiating. Visitation will be held at the Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton from 7-9PM Wednesday and 12-4 and 6- 9PM Thursday. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Leukemia Society of America. Mrs. Foust was born in Durand, MI, April 13, 1939, the daughter of Richard and Florence (Crain) Stilley. She had resided in Fenton the past 5 years, coming from Northville. She married Floyd Foust August 15, 1981 in Ann Arbor. She was a 1957 graduate of Clio High School and earned a Registered Nursing Degree from Kaskaskia College in Illinois. Mrs. Foust was employed by McPherson Hosptial as a Registered Nurse. She was a member of the King of Glory Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Church Council, which she served on the Community Service Committee. She was past president of the Open Gate Garden Club and was an active duty reservist with the U. S. Army, where she obtained the rank of Captain. Surviving are: husband, Floyd of Fenton; 3 children, Erica Sager of Ballwin, MO, Matthew (Robin) Barinotti of Okinawa, Japan and Amy (Kevin) Rice of Flint; 5 grandchildren; Brittney, Kaleigh, Jessica, Brandon and Zachary; mother, Florence Stilley of Haslett; brother, Richard (Joanne) Stilley of Grand Blanc; sister, Linda Cummings of Traverse City; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father.
PRUETT, Irene V.
- Age 77, of Fenton, formerly of Swartz Creek, died Tuesday, February 9, 1999 at Crestmont Nursing Care Facility. Funeral services were held 12 Noon today.
SCHOLL, Michael Vincent
- Of Marquette, formerly of Grand Blanc, age 26, passed Sunday February 14, 1999 in Marquette. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
SHARLAND, Fern D. (Herrick)
- Of Florida, formerly of Grand Blanc, age 83, passed away Saturday, February 13, 1999 at McLaren Hospice Residential Unit. Private services have been held with burial at Perry McFarlen cemetery. Contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 3704, Memphis, TN 38173-0704. She is survived by: her 2 daughters, N. Joyce and husband Walter Anderson, Sandra and husband Jim Goodrich, all of Fenton; 3 grandchildren, Erik J. and wife Kathryn Anderson, Lisa and husband Brian Engelhart, and Neil Goodrich; 2 sisters, Allie Woolston of GA, Ruby Karoly of FL. She was preceded in death by her husband Hugh Sharland in 1984.
SHULTZ, Robert G., Jr.
- Of Flushing, age 47, died Sunday, February 14 ,1999 at McLaren Hospice in Flint. Funeral services will be held at 3PM Thursday, February 18, 1999 at the Whipple-O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose, Rev. Robert Bolander officiating. Burial in Montrose Township cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1-3 and 6-9PM. Memorial contributions may be made to McLaren Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
SIMPSON, Richard A.
- Of Flint, age 33, died Sunday February 14 1999. Funeral service will be held at 2PM Thursday, February 18, 1999 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Mr. Adam Arnould officiating. Burial in Crestwood cemetery. Visitation 6- 9PM Tuesday and 11AM-9PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Richard was born in Orange, California on March 4, 1965 and was a resident of Flint most of his life. He was a member of Laborer's International Union of North America, Laborers Local #1191. Richard worked on several road projects in the Detroit area and the new Blue Water Bridge. Surviving are his parents, Robert and Jean Simpson of Flint; sisters, Rhonda Simpson and fiance' Robin Berry, Roberta and husband Rich Kelley, all of Flint; niece, Emily Kelley; nephew, Anthony Kelley; grandparents, Curtis and Uldene Fish of Flint; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
