Age 82, died Thursday, June 24, 1999 at Heartland Manor. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

MILLICAN-HUDSON, Carol Diane

- Of Flint, age 54, died Tuesday, June 22, 1999 from injuries received as a result of an automobile accident. Funeral service will be held at 11AM today at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Berniece Matejcek officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills cemetery.

MERSINIAS, Chris

- Of Swartz Creek, age 86, died June 25, 1999 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral arrangements to be announced.

McKELLAR, Clara M. (Klari Varro)

- Age 76, our loving mother, passed away at McLaren Hospital Friday, June 25, 1999. She was a lifelong resident of Flint, retiring from Sears Roebuck & Company in 1989. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years. She is survived by: her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Cletis Ann McKellar; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and John Foley, all of Flint; her daughter, Peggy Forsman of Lansing; granddaughter and her husband, Debi and Carl Sapolin of New York; grandson, Jeff Bacon of Grand Rapids; granddaughter, Christy Canaday; grandsons, David and Bill McKellar of Flint; sisters, Lynn Crepeau of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Irene Ganley of Port Hueneme, CA; brother-in-law and sister- in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. David McKellar of Grand Blanc; and many special nieces and nephews. She was loved by all and will remain in our hearts forever. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the First Presbyterian Church of Flint in her memory. Funeral services will be held 3:30PM Monday, June 28, 1999 from the Floral Chapel of the Dodds-Dumanois Funeral Home, Dr. James Rae will officiate. Burial in Sunset Hills cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-5PM on Sunday.

BATTLES, James A.

- Of Davison, age 79, died Wednesday, June 23, 1999 at his residence. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Hopewell General Baptist Church, 5162 N. Belsay Rd., Flint, MI 48506. Mr. Battles was born in Flint, MI on March 28, 1920, the son of John Battles, Stella (Bassham) Battles and stepfather Dueal. James had lived in the Flint area most of his life. James married Glada Herman on October 7, 1939. Mr. Battles was a member of Hopewell General Baptist Church. James was a 32nd Degree, life member of Davison Masonic Lodge #236 F.&A.M. and a life time member of ELF Khurafeh Shrine. Mr. Battles retired from General Motors in 1983, after working for 45 years. James is survived by: wife, Glada; sons, James J. Battles and wife Rebecca, Robert A. Battles and wife Joyce; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Majorie Antaya and Mary Jane and husband Rev. Gerald Payne of Arkansas; brother, Jack Battles and wife Norma. James was preceded in death by his parents and step- father, sister, Lucille McNew, and brother, Charles Battles.

BAILEY, Isobel L.

- Of Flint, age 93, died Tuesday, June 22, 1999 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 11AM Friday, June 25, 1999 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Burial in Sunset Hills cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Cecilia Society of Flint. Visitation 12PM- 8PM Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Bailey was born in Clinton, Michigan on January 16, 1906 and was a resident of Flint most of her life. She married Stanley R. Bailey on September 30, 1922. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church. She was a member of the St. Cecilia Society for more than 50 years and was made an honorary member in 1995. Mrs. Bailey attended Baker Business College and worked at Consumers Power Company for 14 years. Surviving are son, Robert Bailey, Ph.D, of New York City; daughter, Judith, R.N., and husband William Wilson of Flint; 3 grandsons; 2 great- granddaughters; brother, Frank Hulett; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 4 sisters; a brother and by her husband, Stanley, in 1977. The family would like to thank Dr. Malde for all of his special and tender care he provided to our mother over the years.

WAHL, Jacob

- Of Flint, age 83, died Sunday, June 20, 1999 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral service was held at 10AM today.

VENNE, Eleanor M.

- Of Flint, age 89, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 1999 at Genesys Convalescent Care Center. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 26, 1999 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 2500 N. Franklin Ave., Flint, Fr. Francis Faraci will be officiating. Burial will follow at New Calvary Catholic cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday at the Brown Funeral Home, 1616 Davison Rd. and a Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. A memorial contribution may be made in Eleanor's name to the Maryknoll Missionaries of New York. Eleanor was born on July 25, 1909 in Houghton Co., MI, the daughter of Joseph and Delmina (Gareau) Venne. Eleanor has lived in Flint for most of her life. Eleanor was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church for many years. She retired from A.C. Spark Plug in 1969 after 37 years of service, where she was a member of UAW Local #651. Eleanor was the remaining survivor of 12 children. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Family would like to thank the staff of Genesys Convalescent Care Center for all of their kindness and compassion.

THOMPSON, David G.

- Of Flushing, age 75, died Monday, June 21, 1999 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 10AM Friday, June 25, 1999 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Flushing. Pastor Clifford Bira will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills cemetery. Visitation will be 11AM-9PM Thursday at Rossell Funeral Home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church.

GETTY, Caroline E.

- Age 71, of Lapeer, died June 22, 1999 at Lapeer Regional Hospital. She was born August 19, 1927 in Marlette, daughter of Claude and Esther (Knowles) Lee. She married Bernard Getty on August 17, 1945 in Flushing. He preceded her death. Surviving are: children, Barbara and husband Roger Dixon of Lapeer, Laurie and husband Thomas Daane of Lapeer, Tom and wife Diane Getty of Columbiaville and Charles and wife Debbie Getty of Flint; 10 grandchildren; 3 great- grandchildren; sisters, Mary and husband Lester Dorner of Lapeer, Hazel and husband Ron Leslie of Florida, Dorothy and husband Roy Griswold of Columbiaville; brothers, Jerry and wife Nancy Lee of Lennon and Harold and wife Maxine Lee of California; mother-in- law, Rena Inhelder of Lapeer. Besides her husband, Bernard, a son, Dennis Getty, also preceded her in death. Friends may visit the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 until 9PM. Funeral service will be held Thursday, June 24, 1999 at 1:30PM at the Baird-Newton Funeral Home in Lapeer, Pastor Ron Scott will officiate with burial in Oregon Township cemetery.

DeVANEY, Ada Bell

- Of Lapeer, age 93, died Monday, June 21, 1999. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 24, 1999 at 1 PM at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Pastor Joseph Bower, Pastor David Hill and Pastor Arvle DeVaney (Son) officiating. Burial at Stiles cemetery. Visitation from 2-9 PM Wednesday. Surviving are: children, Jo (Daniel "Al") Hall of Lapeer, Arvle (Joyce) DeVaney of Howard City, MI, Frank (Nancy) DeVaney of Lapeer, Pat (Sally) DeVaney of Lapeer, Shirley (Hiram) Hill of North Branch, MI and Ken (Miram) DeVaney of Vicksburg, MI; step-son, Clarence DeVaney of Rockwood, TN; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 5 great- great-grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 2 step great- grandchildren; 2 half-sisters; Margaret Long and Mary Latham both of Pontiac, MI; step-brother, Carl Moore. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl M. DeVaney, December 9, 1964; brothers, Chris, Jay and Jack Moore; sisters, Emma Arden, Bessie Kelley and Delia DeVaney. Mrs. DeVaney was a long time member of the First Baptist Church, Lapeer. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Memorials may be made to WMPC Radio Station.

COLE, Patricia A. "Pat" (LaFrance)

- Of Burton, age 59, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 1999 at her residence. Funeral service will be held at 10AM Friday, June 25, 1999 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Grant H. Wessel officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. Visitation 5- 9PM Wednesday and 10AM-12PM and 5-9PM Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Cole was born in Flint, Michigan on May 8, 1940. She married Alton C. Cole on October 14, 1961 in Flint. Mrs. Cole was employed by Clara Barton Terrace Convalescent Home for 20 years. Surviving are son, Kevin and mother-in-law, Mallie Cole, both of Cameron, North Carolina; 2 sisters- in-law, Katie Frye and Carolyn Talbert and brother-in-law, Bobby Cole, all of North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton and parents, Peter and Mary; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

CAMPBELL, Jeffrey Matthew

- Age 42, of Jonesville, passed away June 20, 1999 at his residence, after about with Leukemia. Funeral services will be held at Hillsdale United Bretheren Church, Hillsdale, MI at 11AM on Wednesday, June 23, 1999. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 22 from 7-9PM at the church. Mr. Campbell was born in Genesee County on August 25, 1956, the son of James Carl Campbell and Janet Jayne (Turner) Campbell. He graduated from Flint Northern in 1974. Jeff was employed by the State of Michigan at the Forensic Center in Yspilanti for 19 years. He was a member of the Hillsdale United Bretheren Church and a member of the Klan Campbell Society. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents and son, Joshua Caleb Campbell. He is survived by: his wife, Peggy J. (Shaffer) Campbell; son, Jeffery Matthew Campbell, II; 2 daughters, Lori L. Buehrer and Katherine R.B. Campbell; grandson, Caleb M. Buehrer; sister, JoEllen Maybank; grandmother, Cora (Pennington) Campbell of West Virginia; and many loving uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers gifts and memorials may be sent to Hillsdale, United Bretheren Church, 20040 S. Howell St., Hillsdale, MI 49250.

- Longtime resident of Genesee Twp., age 96, died Friday, June 18, 1999. Funeral services were held today.
