Robert C. Brown

Clarkston

Formerly of Saline

Robert C. Brown, age 64, of Clarkston, formerly of Saline, died unexpectedly on March 14, 2005.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife of 37 years, Susan; children, Jenny (Mike) Kokoszka of Commerce and Evan Brown of Clarkston; a son- in-law, Donald (the late Maxine) Counts of Clarkston; sisters, Carol (Don) Maxwell of Virginia and Jo (Tom) Schultz of Ontario. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Mary.

Bob was a member of the American Bar Association. He was a partner at Kus, Ryan, Schluentz & Brown, Auburn Hills. He was formerly employed at Michigan National Bank & Bank of the Commonwealth.

Any donations to the family will be used for Wayne State University Law School Scholarship Fund. (www.legacy.com).

Thomas E. Schumaier

Hamburg

Formerly of Saline

Thomas E. Schumaier, 65, of Hamburg, formerly of Saline, died Friday, March 18, 2005 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Superior Township.

He was born in Ann Arbor Dec. 9, 1939 to Rudolph and Frieda (Hass) Schumaier. He was a 1957 graduate of Saline High School and also graduated from UCLA and was employed as an electrical engineer in the aerospace industry including Bendix Corp. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Survivors include: two brothers, Timothy (Hanan) of Farmington Hills and Terence of Dundee. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Rudolph James Schumaier, and an infant sister.

Friends may call Thursday from 5–9 p.m. and also Friday from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. at the Cover Funeral Home in Dundee. He will lie in state Saturday, March 26 at Calvary Baptist Church in Dundee from 9:30 a.m. until services at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place at St. Joseph cemetery in Whitaker.

Lola C. (Sanch) Warner

Milan

Lola C. (Sanch) Warner, age 63, died Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at Arbor Hospice with her family and a dear friend by her side.

She was born Oct. 2, 1941, in Ann Arbor to Edmund and Opal (Buchanan) Sanch. Lola graduated from Milan High School, was a hairdresser, then drove a school bus for Milan Area Schools. She was a member of Marble Memorial United Methodist Church where she was married in 1962. Lola enjoyed spending time with family, friends and her pets. She also enjoyed talking on the CB radio, and was known to many as the "Guardian Angel" of the highway.

Survivors include: two daughters, Wendy (Jeff) Miller of Blissfield and Angel Warner of Saline; one grandson, Landon; and two sisters, Laura (Joe) Bireley of Hudson, Fla., and Susan Sanch of Ypsilanti; two brothers, Edmund Sanch of Ypsilanti and Philip (Deborah) Sanch of Milan; five nieces; one nephew; six great-nieces; and four great- nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Burial was held in Marble Park cemetery, Milan.

Those desiring may make contributions to Arbor Hospice or Aid in Milan.

James Earl Eaton

Deanna Dara (Cook) Eaton Saline

James Earl Eaton, born Dec. 22, 1951, and his wife, (soul mate), Deanna Dara (Cook) Eaton, born Nov. 11, 1946, were tragically killed on March 30, 2005, when their private aircraft went down in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Venice, Fla.

Jim is survived by his mother, Catherine Burnett of Logansport, Ind.; daughter, Genessa Eaton of Saline; his sister, Barbara (Thomas) Kistler; niece, Tammy (David) Gibson; nephews, Bryan (Jennie) Kistler and Kevin Kistler, all of Logansport; and grandson, Ray Eaton of Saline.

Dee is survived by her mother, Margaret Cook of Midland; sisters, Carlene (David) Spitnale of Midland, and Cheryl (William) Pribus of Atco, N.J.; niece, Terri (Al) Carey; and Scott (Birgirt) Spitnale of Heidesheim, W. Germany.

Jim was a graduate of Cafton High (Logansport), Ball State University, and was CEO of American-Wera of Saline. Dee was a graduate of Midland High, Western and Eastern Michigan University, and was employed as a tax consultant for Ford Motor Co.

Jim and Dee touched so many lives in such a positive manner that their presence will be greatly missed by all who loved them. "…and I (they) will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."…together! Psalm 23:6b

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Donations may be sent to the Scoliosis Foundation.

Emma "Editha" Mueller

Saline

Emma "Editha" Mueller, 84, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2005, at the Saline Evangelical Home surrounded by family and friends.

Editha was born on Nov. 29, 1920 to Otto (Laura P. Herzog) Malcolm in Ann Arbor. Editha was a founding member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Saline. For many years she was also their organist and active member in the choir. In Editha's spare time, she derived pleasure from her quilting. Editha was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Carl Mueller in 1992.

She leaves behind one son, Dr. Thomas Mueller of Saline; two grandsons; Trevor and Nate, both of Ann Arbor; ex-daughter in-law, Joyce Vivirski of Ann Arbor; and very special friends, Jack and Ginger Shears; and many nieces and nephews. She will also miss and be missed by all her extended family at St. Andrew's Catholic Church.

Burial took place at Oakwood cemetery in Saline.

Alfred W. Torrey

Traverse City

Alfred Walter Torrey of Traverse City, died Friday, April 8, 2005, at Munson Medical Center. He was 86.

He was born on April 23, 1918 near Milan in Washtenaw County. He was the son of Clinton and Clarabelle (Dexter) Torrey. Following graduation from high school, he attended one year of college and in 1941 he began recruit school to become a Michigan State Police officer, a career that would span 33 years. On March 20, 1948, Al married Anita Lois Lowry in Sebewaing, Mich. Al served posts in Rockford, Bad Axe, Jackson, and Cheboygan before being assigned to the Traverse City Post. Retiring in 1974, at the rank of sergeant, Al began a new career as the Director of Security for the Interlochen Center for the Arts. He enjoyed his position at Interlochen and retired after 10 years of service. Following their retirements, he and Anita enjoyed traveling across the country in their motor home and treasured their many friends they met along the way. Al enjoyed his family, playing cards of all kinds - especially bridge, had a great interest in flying, loved the game of golf, and was a member of the Elks club.

Al is survived by his loving wife of 57 years; his three sons, David (Wanda) of Kalkaska, Lee (Onlee) of Traverse City, James (Robin) of St. Charles, Ill.; eight grandsons, Jason (Laura), Wesley (Joy), Brent, Nathan, Aaron (Becky), James, August and Joseph; two granddaughters, Kelly Westphal and Angie (Luke) Harris, four great-grandchildren; a sister, Phyllis Sweet, and a brother Charles (Betty) Torrey; brother-in-law, Wesley (Adeline) Lowry of Evart; and a number of nieces and nephews. Al was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Wesley; and a sister, Margaret Miller.

The family asks that memorial contributions by directed to the Traverse Bay Regional Dialysis Center, c/o Munson Medical Center, 1105 Sixth Street, Traverse City, MI 49684.

William C. Hiller

South Lyon

William C. Hiller, 35, of South Lyon died suddenly on April 10, 2005. Beloved husband of Jean (Guthrie, formerly of Saline). Adored father of Liam and Adelynne. Loving son of Bill and Julie. Dearest brother of Mark (Danielle) and Tamara (Carl Brent). He was also loved by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, and by parents-in-law Gordon and Carol Wild.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 14 at Casterline Funeral Home in South Lyon. Burial took place at St. John's Lutheran Church, Bridgewater.

Arlene M. (Lasky) Steszewski

East Farms, Conn.

Mrs. Arlene M. (Lasky) Steszewski, age 70, of the Village at East Farms, died Thursday, April 14, 2005 at her home. She was the widow of Kazimierz S. Steszewski.

Mrs. Steszewski was born in Jackson, Mich. on Nov. 16, 1934, daughter of the later Walter and Dorothy (Rogers) Laskey Jr. She was retired as an administrative assistant from Maritime Employees Beneficial Association and was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Southbury and also St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church in Prospect. She is survived by two daughters, Teresa Groshans of Waterbury and Mary Waterfield of San Francisco; and two grandchildren, Catherine and Benjamin Groshans, both of Waterbury.

A memorial service will be held in June in Jackson. Burial will be in St. Johns cemetery in Jackson at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.

Jeannette H. Bondie

Saline

Jeannette H. Bondie, age 88, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2005 at her residence following an extended illness.

Jeannette was born April 15, 1917 to Otto C. and Mary J. (Buck) Hagans in Paola, Kan. On July 18, 1940, she married her beloved husband, Joseph Bondie in Saline, and he survives along with son, Philip (Judi) Bondie and daughter, Jean Bondie, all of Saline; grandchildren Susan (Skip) Tyson of Wilmington, N.C. and Christopher Guinnup of Ann Arbor; great-grandchildren Chester and Bellany Tyson of Wilmington; and a host of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother, William Hagans of Apache Junction, Ariz. She was preceded in death by brother, Charles Hagans and sister, Harriet Lambarth.

Jeannette graduated from University High in Ann Arbor, and later Cleary College. She worked for many years at Hoover Ball and Bearing in Ann Arbor. She was a devoted wife and mother, Girl Scout leader, and Saline Hospital and Red Cross volunteer. She had been an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Saline.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 1 at 2 p.m. at the Saline First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. James E. Tuttle officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Saline United Methodist Church.

Virgil L. "Bud" Lindzy

Saline

Virgil L. "Bud" Lindzy, age 63, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2005, surrounded by his family and many friends following an extended illness.

Bud was born on July 1, 1941 to Virgil and Neva Lindzy in Dundee. On Feb. 11, 1967, he married the love of his life, Barbara Norris, in Milan. Bud retired from the Ford Rawsonville Plant on July 1, 2000 as a No. 3 cleaner. Bud enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, farming, and working endless hours on his and his friends' cars. He was also a proud member of the Son's of the Legions in Saline, the Moose Lodge in Belleville, and Eagles of Ypsilanti.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Patricia Lindzy and Virginia Norris. Bud leaves behind his wife, Barbara; one son, Virgil "Buddy" (Gina Kennon) Lindzy of Milan; one daughter, Kellie (Mike Schneider) Lindzy of Saline; three grandchildren: Amber Nicole Lindzy, Alyssia Marie Warren, Patrick Paul Warren; a sister, Vera Shock; three brothers: Albert, Robert, and Paul Smith; as well as many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Burial was held at the Union Udell cemetery in Ypsilanti Township. Donations may be made to St. Joseph Mercy Hospice.

Milton A. Reimold

Saline

Milton A. Reimold, age 77, died Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at his home, peacefully with his family by his side.

He was born on March 31, 1928 in Freedom Township, the son of Alfred and Alma (Kappler) Reimold. He was the beloved husband of Beverly Brewer of 48 years. Milt was a member of the United State Army serving during the Korean War. He was a lifelong resident of Saline and a member of the Bethel United Church of Christ, Freedom Township. He was an appliance repairman for many years and touched the lives of the many people he served.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Beverly, and his children: Jeffrey (Karen) Reimold, Lori (John) Tursak, and Debbie (Keith) Hibbard; his beloved grandchildren, Krista, Emily, David, Cameron, Connor, and Hailey. Other survivors include his siblings: Ellen Egeler, Alvin Reimold, Calvin (Marva) Reimold, and Earl (Anna) Reimold, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Irena Wahr.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Mercy Hospice or the American Heart Association Burial has taken place at Bethel United Church of Christ.
