Robert "Bob" Radenbaugh

Milan

Robert "Bob" Radenbaugh, 89, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2005.

He was born Aug. 5, 1916 in Payne, Ohio to Henry and Idella (Haggerty) Radenbaugh. Bob was a lifelong farmer in York Township on the family farm north of Milan since 1921. He was a partner in the Saline Hatchery and worked at Saline Valley Farms before retiring in 1975 from Chrysler Proving Grounds in Chelsea. He also was a member of Peoples Presbyterian Church in Milan.

Survivors include: one son, William (Thedra) Radenbaugh of Clovis, Calif.; three daughters, all of Milan, Bonnie (Karl) Jurgensen, Katherine Radenbaugh and Linda (Daniel) Wilfinger-Klein; seven grandchildren, Mary (Beau) Jurgensen-Weaver, Tye (Cindy) Jurgensen, Joel (Paulina) Radenbaugh, Terry and Doug Radenbaugh, Sean (Kelly) Klein and Tiffany Klein; and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Hedglen) of 50 years in 1989 and his second wife, Frances Wright, in 2005; a grandson, Tyke Jurgensen; two brothers, Ford and Paul, and two sisters, Delia Bruckner and Delores Lidgard.

The funeral was held Saturday at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home in Milan with the Rev. Arthur Oberg officiating. Burial followed in Marble Park cemetery.

Those desiring may make contributions to Arbor Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Aubrey "Mac" G. McCartney

Saline

Aubrey "Mac" Glen McCartney, age 86, died Sunday, May 7, 2006 at the Evangelical Home in Saline.

He was born April 16, 1920 in Ypsilanti, the son of Leroy Glen and Cora E. (Lieberman) McCartney. He had been a Saline resident for the past year moving here from Ypsilanti. On Jan. 24, 1943, he married Lorraine M. Rice in St. Louis Mo., and she survives. Mac was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ypsilanti and had been a member of the United States Army Air Force serving during World War II. He had also been a member and past Commander of the Ypsilanti American Legion Post 282 and a member of the 40 & 8. Mac was employed by Detroit Edison for over 37 years as a service planner until his retirement in 1983.

Survivors in addition to his wife Lorraine include: one son, Tom (Sue) McCartney of Saline and one daughter, Nancy Metcalf of Perry, Mich.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on May 10 at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home of Saline with Rev. Keith Geiselman officiating. Burial took place at the Union Udell cemetery in Ypsilanti Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ypsilanti American Legion Post 282 Scholarship Fund or the Saline Evangelical Home. Envelopes available at the funeral home.

Jeff Seeger

Fairview, Mich.

Jeff Seeger, age 30, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2006 at his Fairview home.

Beloved son of Matthew and Lynne Seeger, Jeff's life was one of love, compassion, and patience shared with those who were a part of his life. He was an example of faith in action throughout his short life and will be missed by his family and community. He was the proud uncle of Hunter and Haleigh Seeger and brother to Kevin (Melissa) Seeger, all of Reese, Mich.

In addition to his parents and brother and family, Jeff is survived by his grandparents LeRoy and Lois Rutherford of Fairview, and Hazel Seeger of Saline, as well as his aunt and uncle Lois and Jerry Seeger and Aunt Carol Nortley, all of Saline. Also survived by his special friends and mentors, Keith and Mary Kleinert of Houghton Lake, and Jamie Booth of Mio. His grandfather Matthew "Bud" Seeger preceded Jeff in death.

Memorial donations may be made in Jeff's name to COOR ISD, Adult Transition Program, taught by Mary Kleinert. These funds will be used for special activities for the members of this program. Jeff's years in this program were some of the best years of his life.

The funeral services were held on May 10 at the Fairview Mennonite Church with Pastor Eldon Krider and Pastor Virgil Hershberger officiates. Burial took place in Comins Township cemetery in Fairview, Mich.

Frederick L. Sundling,

Saline

Frederick L. Sundling, age 81, died Monday, May 8, 2006 at his home after an extended illness. He was born August 3, 1924 in Gladstone, Mich., the son of Carl and Jennie (Hansen) Sundling. He was a Saline resident since 1971. On Dec. 26, 1970, he married Grace (Yesley) and she survives. He was affiliated with The First United Methodist Church of Saline. Fred was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He was an Executive Director in Boy Scouts of America, the first Director of Washtenaw Council on Alcoholism, a substance abuse Counselor for Macomb County Therapy Program and a continuous member of Alcoholics Anonymous for over 50 years.

Fred is survived by his wife Grace (Yesley); three children from a previous marriage, Kristine L. (Glenn) Thomas of Ypsilanti, their two daughters Kathryn and Sarah; son Mark A. Sundling of Ann Arbor and son David L. Sundling, also of Ann Arbor. He is preceded in death by his parent Carl and Jennie (Hansen) Sundling, his brother Richard Sundling, and sister June (Sundling) Choate.

Funeral services were held on May 16, at the First United Methodist Church of Saline with Rev. Dr. James E. Tuttle, officiate. Entombment will take place at the Washtenong Memorial Park in Ann Arbor.

Memorial contributions may be made to: Arbor Hospice and Home Care, 2366 Oak Valley Dr., Ann Arbor, MI 48103. Envelopes will be available at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home Saline.

Robert Lyndel Cunningham

Saline

Robert Lyndel Cunningham, age 89, died Monday May 8, 2006 at the Saline Evangelical Home.

He was born Feb. 23, 1917 in Vanleer, Tenn, the son of Zollie and Olivia (Jeffers) Cunningham. On Aug. 3, 1945, he married Vera Rose Graviss and she preceded him in death. He then married Elise Vaughn and she also preceded him in death. Robert was a decorated WW II veteran serving in the U.S. Marine Corp 3rd Division, as a Staff Sergeant serving bravely at both Bouganville and Guam. He had been employed by General Motors Chevrolet Spring and Bumper Plant in Livonia, retiring in 1981.

He is survived by six children; Robert (Mary Beth) Cunningham of San Diego, Calif., Joyce A. St. Antoine of Canton, Thomas G. (Mary Beth) Cunningham of Tecumseh, Donald E. (Donna) Cunningham of Garden City, Paul J. (Tina) Cunningham of San Diego, Calif., and John M. (Jacquelyn) Cunningham of Saline. Robert is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and three more soon to arrive. Other survivors include two brothers, Curtis and Harrell, and two sisters, Gladys and Sara, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five siblings; Arthur, Homer, J.B., Buford and Dorothy.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will take place at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 506 N. Union St. Tecumseh, Monday, May 15, at 11 a.m. with Rev Fr. Dan Wheeler as Celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Saline Evangelical Home. Envelopes will be available at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline, where friends may begin calling on Sunday, May 14, between the hours of 2-8 p.m.

Timothy Aaron Thompson

Tecumseh

Timothy Aaron Thompson, 24, of Tecumseh went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005.

He was born Sept. 28, 1981 in Ypsilanti, the son of Craig and Dana (Thompson) Hendrickson. Tim was a member of the Britton Bethel Baptist Church in Britton. He was a graduate of Tecumseh High School, Class of 1999 and attended Washtenaw Community College. He was employed as a pipefitter at John Darr Mechanical in Ann Arbor and a member of Local 190, Pipefitters Union. Tim was an avid outdoorsman and was an outdoor sports enthusiast.

Tim is survived by his parents of Britton; grandparents, Robert and Callie Thompson of Ypsilanti, Bob and Peggy Gillespie of Lakeland, Fla., and Beverly Hendrickson of Grand Rapids; two brothers, Brandon Hendrickson of Britton and Jonathan (Aimee) Hendrickson of Brighton; one sister, Sarah Hendrickson of Tecumseh; two nieces, Hayley and Alyssa Hendrickson; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be at the Tecumseh Chapel of Couture-Handler Funeral Home on Thursday, Jan. 5, from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be on Friday, Jan. 6 at the Britton Bethel Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with Pastor Robert Wright officiating.

Visitation will also be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow at Holloway cemetery.

Irene S. Tomecek

Milan Township

Irene S. Tomecek, age 79, died Wednesday morning Dec. 28, 2005 at home surrounded by her family.

She was born Jan. 13, 1926 in Belleville to Anthony and Stephanie (Nowatka) Latocki. Irene had worked for the Willow Run Bomber Plant, then for Wolverine Plastics for many years. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Milan and the Ladies Altar Society where she generously donated her time and talents. She was an active member of the Monroe County 4-H Club where she taught sewing, cooking and assisted her husband Clyde with the horses. Irene also was a member of the Sullivan Center in London Township where she enjoyed being with her friends.

She is survived by a son Gerald (Lynette) Bordine of Maybee; three daughters, Diane Kiley of Milan, Linda (Melvin) Edmundson of Ypsilanti, and Marjorie (Bill) Siefker of Milan; a step-son, Joseph (Arden) Tomecek of Milan; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Joseph Latocki of Saline.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Clyde Bordine in August of 1964, second husband John Tomecek in August of 1993, and two brothers, Anthony and Eugene Latocki.

Friends may call at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan on Friday, Jan. 6 from 2-9 p.m. Funeral prayers will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7 at the funeral home with procession to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. The rite of burial will follow in Marble Park cemetery, Milan.

Katarina Dehlic

Saline

Katarina Dehlic, 84, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006 at St. Joseph Mercy Saline Hospital.

She was born on Nov. 20, 1921 in Croatia, the daughter of Peter and Dragica (Jarsulic) Colnar. In February of 1949 in Lipnik, Croatia at St. Isadore Catholic Church, she married Antun Dehlic and he preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 2001.

She is survived by one daughter, Ljubica Spahich and her husband Branko of Saline; granddaughter, Maryann Riggs and her husband, Richard of Saline; a grandson, Robert A. Spahich of Tecumseh; a granddaughter, Katherine E. Spahich of Tecumseh; a great-grandson, Adam M. Lange; a great-granddaughter, Olivia M. Riggs and a great-grandson, Andrew R. Riggs.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be given on Thursday, Jan. 5 at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Saline with Rev. Fr. Gordon P. Reigle as Celebrant. Burial will take place in Oakwood cemetery in Saline. The rosary will be prayed at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Visitation was held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Jan. 4.

Jeanne R. Jacox

Ypsilanti

Jeanne R. Jacox, age 80, passed away Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor.

She was born March 20, 1925 in Ypsilanti. Jeanne was the daughter of the late Earl and Ruth (Baker) Jacox. She worked for Ford Motor Co. for more than 30 years before her retirement. Jeanne enjoyed golf, archery, bowling and crafts.

She is survived by: a sister, Annette (Robert) Mach of Belleville; two nieces, Karen (David) Medley of Saline and Gina (Ron) Held of Belleville; two great-grandnephews, Aaron MacLeod of Ypsilanti and Brent (Erin) Held of Belleville; a great-grandniece Lindsay (Lane) Lancaster of Dearborn Heights; a great-great-grandniece, Allyson Held; and also many friends, including Gerry Ashby, Virginia Horner and Arleen Clark.

The funeral will be held Thursday, Jan. 12 from 2 p.m. at David C. Brown Funeral Home in Belleville. Entombment will be at Michigan Memorial Park in Flatrock.

Memorials can be made to the American Kidney Association or the Michigan Humane Society would be appreciated.

Dean R. Keeler

Milan

Dean R. Keller, age 80 died peacefully at home after a brief illness with his loving family by his side Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006.

He was born to Earl and Freda (Long) Keeler on April 11, 1925 in Hastings Mich. Dean served in the United States Army during WWII and Korea. He was stationed in Germany and Paris. Dean married Alice Anne Maurer Feb. 10, 1949 in Nashville, Mich. and she survives. Also surviving are nine children, Carol (Gene) Washchuk, David (Marsha) Keeler, Steven (Susan) Keeler, Nancy Keeler, Mike Keeler, Jeff (Heather) Keeler, Marti (Geoffrey) Ryan, Julie Keeler and Mary (Paul) Gailbreath; 13 grandchildren, Matt and Emily Washchuk, Erin and Joshua Keeler, Jennifer and Katie Keeler, Shawn and Jay Birchmeier, Kelli and Allison Keeler, Megan Ryan; one great-grandson, Brennon Pinkston; a brother, Lawrence "Honk" (Della) Keeler of Hastings and their six children.

Dean retired from Thermofil, Inc. in 1989, and then worked part-time for Milan Area Schools, and formally retired in 2001 but helped occasionally until his death. He also enjoyed playing golf, going to the movies and bowling with his wife and family. Dean and his best friend Tom Driscoll of Milan were serious harness racing fans and spent many great times together at local racetracks.

Family will receive friends at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan on Thursday, Jan. 12 from 12–3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. where the funeral will be Friday, Jan. 13 at 11 a.m.

Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Arbor Hospice or Monroe Salvation Army.

Helen M. Mayfield

Formerly of Saline

Helen M. Mayfield, age 103, died peacefully in her sleep, Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006 in Blairsville, Ga.

Helen was born Feb. 6, 1902 in Springfield, Ill. to Henry W. and Mary Peters Dresch. She married Harold G. Hoffacker in 1920 and he preceded her in death in 1943. Helen later married Dale C. Mayfield in 1945, who preceded her in death in 1962. Helen had two sons, Harold G. and Ralph Hoffacker, who both preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Mary (Harry) Dahl, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Helen was laid to rest at Camp Butler National cemetery in Springfield, Ill.

Luther K. Hertler

Auburn Hills

Luther K. Hertler, age 90, passed away Jan. 27, 2006.

He was the beloved husband of Helen and dear father of Marianne (Robin) Ferriby and grandfather of Megan, Andrew and Katherine. Luther was a member of the Finance Command of the U.S. Air Transport Command of the U.S. Air Corps in the China Burma Theater. Luther was a 15-year member of the Board of Directors at Garden City Osteopathic Hospital, former member of the Board of Directors at Farmington Savings & Loan, Michigan Opera Company, former treasurer of the Rosedale Park Improvement Assoc., and a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. Funeral Service was held at A. J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, Troy Mich., on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006. Memorial tributes can be sent to the Michigan Parkinson Foundation.
