Willard Thomas Young

Formerly of Saline

Willard Thomas Young, passed away March 31, 2006 in Fort Myers, Fla.

Willard was born March 1, 1925 in Flint, the son of Mary Gowan and Claude Young. Willard attended secondary school in Bakersville, Mo. and enlisted in the Navy at Columbia. Willard was wounded during the naval invasion of the Philippines during the Battle of Corregidor during World War II. Before the war, he married Ardath Cary in Edina Mo. After the war he returned to dairy farming near Columbia, and then Brattleboro Vt. Willard also worked as a salesman near Detroit. He later owned Ford Tractor Sales in Saline for several years. He retired to Fort Myers, Fla.

His son, Thomas Young, preceded him in death as well as his parents and sister, Erma Allen, and twin brothers, Harold of Illinois and Gerald Young of California.

Willard is survived by daughters Arden Knoll of Green Bay, Wis., Jennifer Skonieczny of Salem, Mo., and a son, Dennis Young of Hamlin W.V. Also surviving are six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one niece, Mary Ellen Ritchie; and a nephew, James Burgess.

His cremated remains will be interred at Arlington National cemetery. Donations in Willard Young's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association., 225 N. Michigan Ave., Flr. 17, Chicago, Ill. 60601-7633.

Willard A. Feldkamp

Saline

Willard A. Feldkamp, age 88, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2006 at the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor.

He was born Oct. 29, 1917 in Saline, the son of Aaron and Bertha (Finkbeiner) Feldkamp. On Sept. 10, 1941, he married Arleen Hanson and they enjoyed 59 years of marriage together until her death on Nov. 20, 2000. Willard was a member of the United States Navy serving during World War II aboard the USS Yorktown. Following the war, he worked for the city of Ann Arbor's wastewater treatment plant until retiring in the late 1970s. Willard was a lifelong active member of Bethel United Church of Christ in Manchester.

Survivors include: one daughter, Julie Feldkamp and granddaughters, Kristen (Dan) Miller and Erin (Scott) Grace. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Madison and Sam Miller, and Emma and Morgan Grace, all of whom he loved dearly. Other survivors include his brother Leon (Lois) Feldkamp; sisters Ellen (Albert) Easudes, Sylvia Kalmbach, Marian (Charles) Allmand; brother-in-law Glenford Hanson and sister-in-law Geraldine Feeman. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his infant brother Waldo, brothers-in-law Herschel Feeman and Elmer Kalmbach and sister-in-law Dorothy Hanson. Willard was a kind and generous man who loved God, his family and friends, camping, travel and helping others. He died a gentle and quiet\ death and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were held April 19 at the Bethel United Church of Christ in Manchester.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bethel UCC or to the Saline Evangelical Home. Envelopes are available at Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline. Burial took place at the Bethel United Church of Christ cemetery.

Daniel Raymond Clore Sr.

Adrian

Daniel Raymond Clore Sr., age 61 of Adrian passed away suddenly Tuesday, April 11, 2006.

He was born Aug. 16, 1944 in Milan, the son of Victor Sr. and Eleanor (Burger) Clore and his father precedes him in death. Daniel was also preceded in death by his second wife, Leona in 2000; a brother, Thomas Clore; and a sister, Margaret Mary Clore. He is survived by his mother of Onsted; his first wife, Marie (Al) McGowan of Blissfield; children Anna (Rick) Brandon of Manitou Beach, Daniel Jr. (Jennifer) Clore of Adrian, Amanda (Kelly) O'Neill of Adrian, Victor Richard Clore III of Blissfield and Jerry (Vicki) Kinsley of Big Rapids; 20 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and brothers, Fr. Victor Clore of Detroit and Fred (Nancy) Clore of Tucson, Ariz.; step-children Lawrence R. Barnhart Jr. and Raymond (Bridget) Barnhart; and many nephews and nieces.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Daniel's life will take place at St. Joseph Shrine Catholic Church on Friday, April 21, at 11 a.m. with Fr. Victor Clore officiate.

Ann Corrigan Murray

Saline

Ann Corrigan Murray, passed away April 10, 2006. Ann was born October 22, 1941 in Baltimore, Md. to Daniel Corrigan and Marjorie Scott, [who preceded her in death] and was an only child.

Ann was a leukemia survivor since 1999. She was married on Nov. 26, 1966 to Daniel J. Murray of Maple Heights, Ohio. Ann graduated with an associate's degree from Virginia Intermont College; and earned a B.A. in psychology and sociology from Muskingum College, Ohio; a master of arts degree in rehabilitation counseling and sociology from Kent State University in 1971. Ann did additional public administration graduate work at Eastern Michigan University.

Ann was employed as a vocational rehabilitation counselor for the state of Michigan from 1965 until her retirement in 1997, most of that time as a youth specialist. She was also a Licensed Professional Counselor.

She was well known for her ever-present smile, bright red hair, and her joy in working with young people.

She was a past president of Ypsilanti Business and Professional Women and of the Ann Arbor association for Personnel Women, board member of Michigan Rehabilitation Association, member of Ann Arbor Academy advisory board, member of Ann Arbor Human Resources Forum, board member of Hospice of Washtenaw, and was on the boards of the state and local chapters of the Learning Disabilities Association [LDA].

Ann enjoyed world travel, learning about other world cultures, art, gardening, playing the Hammered Dulcimer and reading.

Her husband Daniel J. Murray, her son Michael P. Murray and his wife Kathryn Murray, and granddaughter Addison Grace Murray survive her.

She has been cremated according to her wishes and a memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Genanne J. (Young) Loughrin

Formerly of Saline

Genanne J. (Young) Loughrin, age 68, of Holland, died Friday, April 14, 2006 at Hospice House of Holland.

Born in Saline, Genanne was a graduate of Saline High School, attended Antioch College and graduated from Case Western Reserve. Locally, she was a member of Christ Community Church of Spring Lake, Women's Wisdom of West Michigan, Great Lakes Center for Sages, Circle of Crones and actively involved in community theater.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, in 2001. Genanne is survived by her three sons, Timothy, Christopher and Matthew; her daughters-in-law, Tamara, Susan and Janine; her grandchildren, Owen, Natalya, Kieran, Caleb and Sierra.

A memorial service will was held April 18 at Christ Community Church 225 E. Exchange Street in Spring Lake. The Rev. Peter Theune officiated the service.

Virginia Anne Burlingame

Ann Arbor

Formerly of Milan

Virginia Anne Burlingame, age 91, died Saturday, April 15, 2006 at Arbor Hospice, Ann Arbor following an extended stay at Glacier Hills.

She was born March 21, 1915 in St. Louis, the daughter of Rossiter and Alma Farnsworth. She married Richard F. Burlingame in 1936 and moved to Milan in 1939.

She is survived by daughters, Katherine (Frederick) Nestrock, Waldwick, N.J. and Janice (Stephen) Toth, Waterford, Mich. and son, Gordon (Carolyn) Burlingame of Milan; five granddaughters and one great-granddaughter; one sister, Katherine Tice, and nephew Bob (Donna) Tice of Golden, Colo. sister-in-law, Dorothy Reese of Ann Arbor; nephew Bill Bright of Ypsilanti and a niece, Barbara (Don) Chaffin of Ann Arbor.

For many years Virginia was a homemaker whose great joy was to host family gatherings. She expressed her creativity through a life long interest in painting; participating for many years in the Ann Arbor Art Fair and the Ann Arbor Art Association. Virginia also volunteered many hours at the University Hospital helping with the "art cart." She was a lovely wife and mother.

In accordance with Virginia's wishes a private family gathering was held. Those who wish may direct memorial contributions in Virginia's name to Arbor Hospice or a charity of choice.

Joann Kalesar

Saline

Joann Kalesar, age 96, died Monday April 17, 2006 at the St. Joseph Mercy Saline Hospital.

She was born Aug. 21, 1909 in Poland, the daughter of Stephen and Julia (Lupenski) Perkowski. On Oct. 26, 1929 from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Wyandotte, Joann married Joseph Kalesar and he preceded her in death after 64 years of marriage. Joann was a member of the Saline Senior Center.

Survivors include: one daughter, Joann (Joe) Salame; four grandsons, Joseph, Jerard (Shannon, ) James and John (Kristen) Salame; three great-grandchildren, Julia, Joey and Shelby Salame. Joann was preceded in death by four siblings, Mary, Jake, Francis and Sophie.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Saline on Thursday, April 20 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Fr. William J. Stevenson as Celebrant. Burial will be in the Mt. Carmel Catholic cemetery in Wyandotte, Mich.

Friends may begin calling at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline on Wednesday April 19 from 3-5 p.m. and 6-8:30 p.m. and from the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 10:30 a.m. A rosary will be recited at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

David L. Robinson

Milan

David L. Robinson, age 87, died April 18, 2006 after a brief illness at St. Joseph Hospital in Ann Arbor.

He was born Oct. 26, 1918 in Dundee Township to Clarence and Grace (Rankin) Robinson. On Feb. 15, 1941, he married Estella R. Meads in Bowling Green, Ohio and she survives. David served in the Navy during WWII from 1944-46 as Seaman 1st Class, mostly in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He loved farming and raised Registered Brown Swiss Cattle. After farming he was a receiving clerk at Wolverine Plastic in Milan. He then transferred to Alma Mich. where he retired and moved back to Milan in 1984. In retirement, David loved to garden with an abundant vegetable garden and roses that many people stopped to admire. Besides his wife of 65 years, Estella, he is survived by a daughter-in-law Carol Robinson, four grandchildren, William, Christopher, Rebecca Robinson, Deborah Vinson, three great-grandchildren, Brooks, Branden, Bryson Vinson all of Toledo, Ohio, sisters, Margaret (Lorain) Fisk of Dundee, Norma (Roy) Mansfield of Elmhurst, N.Y. and 26 nieces and nephews who were blessed with his gentle nature and who all claimed him as their favorite uncle. His parents, a brother Donald and son David William Robinson preceded him in death.

Visitation will be held at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan on Thursday from 5-9 p.m. where the funeral will be Friday at 11a.m. Burial will follow at Marble Park cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to a charity of one's choice.

Rev. Leland E. Booker

Saline

The Rev. Leland Eugene Booker, age 79, died Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at the Evangelical Home in Saline.

He was born Oct. 11, 1926 in Darke County, Ohio, the son of John H. and S. Almeda (Besecker) Booker. Pastor Booker graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1950; served 4 years in the U.S. Army; attended Defiance College, graduated from Univ. of Maine; and Bangor Theological Seminary in 1965, and was ordained in October 1965 in Phillipsburg, Ohio. He served as pastor in Galesburg, Flat Rock, Wyoming, Crystal, Chelsea and Flat Rock, retiring in February of 1995. He was then interim pastor at Covenant Church in Chelsea. On May 12, 1956, he married Bertha Harrod in Oran, Ohio.

Survivors include his wife Bertha; his daughters, Belinda Marie Booker of Oxford, Mich. and Louise Ellen Booker (Michael) St. John of Lake, Mich.; four adoring grandsons, Corey, Ryan, Evan and Ethan St. John; one brother, Steven (Patti) and one sister, Anna (David) Warnick both of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jay.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 29, 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Saline, with Rev. Ron Cook officiating. A private burial will be held in Houston cemetery, Houston, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be made to Brecon Village-designated for Leland, St. Paul United Church of Christ in Saline, or Michigan Conference of United Church of Christ.

Rose Lee McKinney

Saline

Rose Lee McKinney, age 83, of Saline passed away on April 17, 2006.

Rose was born in Petersburg, Va, and was a former resident of Ypsilanti, where she was an active member of the American Legion. Her children Peggy McCartney VanTassel, Ginger Rose Hamman, and Dianne McKinney Delcourt, as well as seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren survive her. Rose was preceded in death by son Buddy Mroczek, and grandsons Tim Dyal and Dennis Dyal.

A memorial service will be held at the Saline American Legion on Thursday, April 20 at 4 p.m.

David A. Bordine

Hartland, Wis.

Formerly of Milan

David A. Bordine, age 48 died April 19, 2006 at Angels Grace Hospice in Hartland, with his family by his side. David was born Aug. 10, 1957 in Ann Arbor to Stanton and Mary Lou (Southward) Bordine. He was a 1975 graduate of Pioneer High School, Ann Arbor and a 1980 graduate of Western Michigan University. David sold medical supplies for more than 20 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and coaching his children's sports.

David is survived by his two children, Travis and Margaret Bordine, both of Illinois; parents, Stan and Lou of Milan; a brother, Dan (Marie) of Milan; two sisters, Debbie (Ed) Eggert of Ida and Diane (Alex) Paich of Milan; as well as several nieces and nephews. His grandparents preceded him in death. The funeral service was held Monday, April 24 at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home in Milan. Burial took place at Marble Park cemetery, in Milan. Those desiring, may make contributions to the American Kidney Foundation.
