Robert Allen Osborn

Tecumseh

Robert Allen Osborne, age 80, of Tecumseh died April 22, 2006 in Toledo Hospital.

He was born July 6, 1925 in Macon, the son of Elton and Blanche (Hendershot) Osborne. On Aug. 28, 1960, he married Serena Hehr and she preceded him in death on Dec. 2, 2005. Robert was a lifelong member of Macon United Methodist Church. He worked in the cost department of Tecumseh Products for 44 years retiring in 1987. He also was the sexton for Macon cemetery from 1982 until 2003.

Robert is survived by two sons, Doug (Elise) Hanes of Deerfield and Robert (Linda) Haines of Milan; one daughter, Pam (David) Snyder of Manitou Beach; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Luetta Osborne; and several nieces and nephews. His parents, his wife Serena, two brothers, Ernest and George, and one sister, Jane Merritt, preceded him in death.

According to his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held April 26 at the Macon United Methodist Church with Rev. Dale Brown celebrant. Burial of the cremated remains will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Macon United Methodist Church or Macon cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Couture-Handler Funeral Homes.

Charles M. Bohanan

Milan

Charles M. Bohanan, age 81 died April 25, 2006 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital with his loving family by his side.

He was born April 15, 1925 in Knoxville, Tenn., to Oda and Birdie (Tharpe) Bohanan. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division. On Dec. 25, 1946, he married Virginia Sailers in Knoxville and she preceded him in death July 26, 1983. Charles lived in Belleville for 35 years until moving to Milan two years ago. He was an electrician for Ford Motor Co., Woodhaven plant for 30 years. Charles was a member of the Congress Street Church of God and served on the board of the church and as a lay pastor.

Survivors include: one daughter, Wanda (Sonny) Shock of Milan; one grandson, Justin; one step-grandson, Joshua; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, his parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Visitation was held at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan on Wednesday. The funeral will be Thursday at Congress Street Church of God, 1225 S. Congress St., Ypsilanti at 11 a.m. with visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service Rev. David Adams officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Adamsville cemetery, Adamsville, Mich.

Viola L. Sanders

Ann Arbor

Viola L. Sanders, age 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 24, 2006 at the Evangelical Home in Saline.

She was born March 8, 1913 in Lodi Township, the daughter of Albert D. and Anna M. (Furthmueller) Raus who preceded her in death. Viola was a lifelong resident of Ann Arbor and had been employed by Michigan Bell for more than 49 years, retiring in 1978. She was member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church E.L.C.A. of Ann Arbor and the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Women of the Moose Lodge 1253. Viola was married to Charles C. Sanders and he preceded her in death.

Survivors include: one sister, Desmonde L. (Raus) Kubiak of Shelby Township, Mich.; nieces and nephews, Edward A. Raus, Norwin H. (Janet) Raus Jr., Magedaline L. (Jack) Losee, Kathrene A. Hoey, Fredrick C. (Judy) Raus, Anna L. (Chester Riley) Babbitt, Michael T. (Sheryl) Kubiak, Thaddeus J. (Dianne) Kubiak, Theresa A. (Bruce Woodside) Kubiak, and John A. (Mary) Kubiak; as well as numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Norwin J. Raus Sr.; sister Malena M. (Raus) Wire; sister-in-law Hilda M. (Dieterle) Raus; brothers-in-law Mark C. Wire and Thaddeus H. Kubiak; and nieces Wendy G. Wire and Jane E. (Jordan) Raus.

Viola was an avid reader and stayed active until the end. She enjoyed her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 28 at 11 a.m. at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline, with Rev. Gretchen Bingea Officiating. Burial will follow at the Bethlehem cemetery in Ann Arbor.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Evangelical Home in Saline. Envelopes will be at the funeral home where friends may begin calling on Thursday, April 27 between the hours of 2–4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.

Gerald Leland Graf

Saline

Gerald Leland Graf, age 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 11, 2006 at Arbor Hospice after a lengthy illness.

He was born on May 31, 1927 in Clinton, the son of Leland and Martha (Dresselhouse) Graf. When he was a few months old, his parents moved to Saline, where he remained a lifetime resident and business owner. Jerry was a graduate of Saline High School class of 1944. A veteran of World War II, he served in the United States Navy and was a member of the American Legion Post 322. On Dec. 2, 1950, he married Barbara Schmidt in Ann Arbor and she survives. For more than 40 years, he owned Graf's Gulf Service and Westside Hardware, before working 13 years at Barnes ACE Hardware in Ann Arbor.

Survivors in addition to his wife Barbara include: sons Michael (Linda) Graf of Algonquin, Ill., Richard (Robin) Graf of Saugus, Calif.; daughters Linda Chadwick of Bloomfield Village, Mich., and Nancie (Tony) Sidiropoulos of Oak Hill, Va.; and one sister Joyce (Ronald) Hughes of Nunica, Mich. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Sara, Beth, Kelly and Kevin Graf, Alexandra and Thomas Chadwick, and Sara Sidiropoulos; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Monday, May 15, at the First United Methodist Church of Saline with Rev. Dr. James E. Tuttle officiate. Burial followed at Oakwood cemetery in Saline. A life-long animal lover, Mr. Graf asked that memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Huron Valley or to Arbor Hospice.

Jillian Katke

Manchester

Jillian Katke, age 5 of Manchester, passed away May 10, 2006 at home under the loving care of her family.

She was born Jan. 11, 2001 in Ann Arbor, the daughter of Peter and Melissa (Hicks) Katke and they survive. Jillian is also survived by her sister: Madison; paternal grandparents Ellen and Jeff Katke of Wolverine, Mich.; maternal grandparents Liz and Pete Roopas of Saline, Bob and Sandy Hicks of Jerome, and Shirley and Carl Grimmett of Taylor; aunts and uncles Mike Hicks (Amy Sanford), Brian (Roxanne) Katke, Jason Katke (Tabitha Benyo.)

A celebration of her life took place at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Saline on Saturday, May 13 with Fr. William Stevenson officiating. Cremation followed.

Memorial contributions may be given to the National Down Syndrome Society or to the Michigan Congenital Heart Center at University of Michigan Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Jenter Chapel in Manchester. In her short life, Jillian touched the lives and hearts of everyone who knew her. Her gentleness will be missed by family and friends.

Catherine L. Reinhold

Saline

Catherine L. Reinhold age 87 of Saline, died May 11, 2006 at Saint Joseph Mercy Saline Hospital.

She was born on July 17, 1918, the daughter of George and Irene (Owens) McIntyre. In 1950 she married Paul Garbe and he preceded her in death on July 15, 1972. She then married Arthur "Butch" Reinhold in 1978 and he preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 1982. Catherine worked as a boating carpenter for Chris Craft in Algonac, Mich. until her retirement in 1977. She loved playing the lotto and was a Detroit Tigers fan.

Catherine is survived by: one son, Michael (Barb) Garbe of Petoskey, Mich.; one daughter, Luanne Ignasiak of Tipton; one stepson, Paul (Sylvia) Garbe of Clinton Township; four grandchildren, Lisa Ignasiak, Lori Hartung Ryan Garbe, and Tracy (Steven) Moawad; four great-grandchildren, Ryan Garbe Ill, Olivia Cole, Eli Moawad and Nikole Hartung. She was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands.

According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Lung Association. Condolences may be offered to Luanne Ignasiak P.O. Box 433 Clinton, MI 49236 or at www.couture-handler.com. .

Arrangements were entrusted to Couture-Handler Funeral Homes, Tecumseh.

Jeffery A. Burgin

Formerly of Milan

Jeffery A. Burgin, age 54, passed away suddenly Thursday, May 11, 2006.

Jeff was a master craftsman who put his name on many of North Idaho's most spectacular homes. He brought his family to Coeur d'Alene in 1992 from Milan, seeking the beauty and serenity of the western landscape. Jeff's character rivaled those you only hear about in tall tales—strong values, chivalry, and strength. He was larger than life. Married 37 years to his high school sweetheart, Merrie, their relationship was always affectionate, deeply loving, and nurturing. Family meant everything to Jeff; his children were the biggest source of pride.

Dad, you were taken too soon but rest assured the time we did have with you filled a thousand storybooks and will shape your family for generations.

In addition to his wife Merrie, Jeff is survived by his children, Christie (Robert) Stasiak of Michigan, Brandon (Angela) Burgin, Andrea (Joel) Laker, Allison Burgin, and Andrew Burgin of Idaho; his mother Eleanor Auten; brother Kipp Burgin; and sister Linda Rendel. His grandchildren include Bailey and Kimber Burgin and Alexander Stasiak.

Contributions may be made to Andrew's college fun, Michigan Education Savings Program, 1770 Treyborne Circle, Commerce Township, MI 48390.

Peter Eric Chilkewitz

Ocala, Fla.

Peter Eric Chilkewitz, age 58, died Sunday, May 7, 2006 at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala, Fla.

Peter was born in Livonia. He moved to Ocala Fla., from Lake Worth, Texas two years ago. He was Catholic and a member of the Oak Run Country Club.

Survivors include: his brother, Lawrence "Joe" Chilkewitz of Ocala, and his sister, Nancy Thomas, of Garden City.

Frederick L. Sundling

Saline

Frederick L. Sundling, age 81, died Monday, May 8, 2006 at his home after an extended illness.

He was born Aug. 3, 1924 in Gladstone, Mich., the son of Carl and Jennie (Hansen) Sundling. He was a Saline resident since 1971. On Dec. 26, 1970, he married Grace (Yesley) and she survives. He was affiliated with the First United Methodist Church of Saline. Fred was a Veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Army. He was an Executive Director in Boy Scouts of America, the first Director of Washtenaw Council on Alcoholism, a substance abuse counselor for Macomb County Therapy Program and a continuous member of Alcoholics Anonymous for over 50 years.

Fred is survived by his wife Grace (Yesley), and three children from a previous marriage, Kristine L. (Glenn) Thomas of Ypsilanti, their two daughters Kathryn and Sarah; a son Mark A. Sundling of Ann Arbor and son David L. Sundling, also of Ann Arbor. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Jennie (Hansen) Sundling, his brother Richard Sundling and sister June (Sundling) Choate.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday. May 16 at the First United Methodist Church of Saline with Rev. Dr. James Tuttle officiating. Entombment took place at the Washtenong Memorial Park in Ann Arbor.

Memorial contributions may be made to: Arbor Hospice and Home Care, 2366 Oak Valley Dr., Ann Arbor, MI 48103. Envelopes will be available at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home.

Frederick W. Hinsman

Saline

Frederick William Hinsman, age 62, died suddenly Saturday, May 20, 2006.

He was born April 19, 1944 in Trenton, the son of Frederick and Frances (Bartnicki) Hinsman. On June 6, 1970 in Detroit, he married Bobbe J. Ostrander and she survives. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1962-1967 during the Vietnam Era, a member of the Seafarer's International Union from 1968-1969: a past member of the V.F.W. Post in Wyandotte; a friend of the First United Methodist Church in Saline; a Journeyman Millwright for 29 years at the Saline Ford-Visteon Plant and a member of the UAW Union, Local 892. Fred loved his family, his work and also loved books, classical music and a good cup of coffee.

Survivors in addition to his wife Bobbe of 37 years include: five daughters, Bethany (Mark) Myrick of Calif., Rachel (Mark) Datson of Belleville, Rebecca Hinsman of Belleville, Roberta Hinsman of Ann Arbor, and Nichole (Mike) Gosselin of Onsted; grandchildren Evie, Earl, Amarah, Jasmine, Mary, JJ. Michael, Taylor, Matty and Shaun. Fred is also survived by his mother, Frances Hinsman, four siblings, Pat (John) Brillowsky, Don Hinsman, Barbara (Bill) Barry, and Tom (Debby) Hinsman and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 23 at the First United Methodist Church in Saline with Rev. Dr. James E. Tuttle officiating. Cremation followed the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the First United Methodist Church.

Arrangements were handled by the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline.

Robert Conn

Ann Arbor

Robert Conn, age 71, died Monday May 22, 2006 at his home with his family by his side.

He was born April 22, 1935 in Flint, to Robert and Lela (Bottoms) Conn, who both preceded him in death. On Sept. 7, 1957, he married Marie Burns. Robert was employed by the City of Ann Arbor Police Department and retired after 35 years of dedicated service as a Captain in July of 1990. Robert was a long-time member of the Church of Christ and numerous service organizations. He loved his church, his community, being a police officer and especially his family.

Robert is survived by his wife Marie; his son Robert (Cindy) Conn III of Ann Arbor; his son Richard (Jennifer) Conn of Ann Arbor; his brother Ronald Conn of Gladwin and nephew Ronald Conn II of Ann Arbor; his nieces, Kathy Conn and Patricia Conn of Linden, Mich.; as well as six grandchildren, Robert IV (Lauren), Ryan (Natalie), Ross, Melanie, Brian and Molly Conn and by his nephew's children Kimberly, Ronald, Samantha Conn and his niece's child Katelyn.

Robert's family will receive friends at the Nie Family Funeral Home, 2400 Carpenter Rd., on Tuesday, May 30, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 31 at the Ann Arbor Church of Christ, 2500 S. Main St. Ann Arbor at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Bethlehem cemetery.

Ivan Turosky

Saline

Ivan Turosky, age 58 died suddenly Friday, May 26, 2006 at the University of Michigan Hospital.

He was born Dec. 7, 1947 in Almont, Mich., the son of Steven and Florence (Gewont) Turosky. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam Era, and a member of the Burhans-Hagedon American Legion Post 192 in Harbor Beach, Mich. On June 17, 1978 at the First United Methodist Church in Bad Axe, he married Janice McCrea and she survives. In 1978, Ivan received his Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the University of Michigan and was a plant engineer for the Ford Motor Co. He also attended the First United Methodist Church in Saline. Ivan was an avid Notre Dame fan and had a passion to play Santa Claus for various organizations and hospitals. He was a loving husband and father who had a tremendous sense of humor, even when one wasn't called for.

Survivors in addition to his wife Janice include: three children, Steven, Anastasia, and Nicholas, all at home, one sister, Maryanne (John) Neeb of Bad Axe; two nieces and one nephew. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 30 at the First United Methodist Church in Saline with Rev. Dr. James E. Tuttle officiating. Cremation followed the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Saline or to the Tri-County Sportsman's Club.
