Ramona Ione Martin

Saline

Ramona Ione Martin, 77, died on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital.

She was born on Oct. 21, 1928 in Lucas County, Ohio, the daughter of Ellwood M. and Ethel I (McNutt) Owen.

Survivors include: three children, Cynthia Martin of Austin, Texas, James Martin of Three Rivers, Mich., and Jeffrey (Val) Martin of Bluff Dale, Texas. Other survivors include two grandsons, two granddaughters, and three great-grandchildren. Ramona is also survived by one sister, Marcy Graban of Saline. She was preceded in death by her parents and one younger sister.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Christ Our King Lutheran Church, 3255 Saline-Waterworks Rd., Saline on Friday, Nov. 4 at 11 a.m.

Arrangements by the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home, Saline.

Shirley I. Dutton

Milan

Shirley I. Dutton, age 75, passed away peacefully, in her sleep, while at home on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2005.

Shirley was born near her grandfather's farm in Lake, Mich. on July 18, 1930. She was the oldest of six children born to Ira and Gladys (Darnell) Presswood. The family resided in Ann Arbor where she grew up, attended Ann Arbor High School, graduating in 1947. Shirley also served in the Women's Air Corps from 1951-1952. After serving in the armed forces, she worked in the early computer industry for companies such as Kemper Insurance in Chicago. Locally, Shirley worked for Washtenaw Community College where she retired as a cashier after almost 20 years. She also was past president of the Teamsters Clerical Union. Besides her parents, her husband HMC George W. Dutton preceded her in death in 2002.

She is survived by two devoted sons, Steven R. (Kristi) King and Thomas G. (Jodi) Dutton; four loving grandchildren, Robert and Lauren King; and Madison and Alexander Dutton, all of Ann Arbor; her two sisters, Sheila (Ray) Biggs and Colleen Presswood of Ann Arbor; and three brothers, Paul (Sandy) Presswood of Cheboygan; Robert Presswood of Houston, Texas; and Michael Presswood of Wayne also survived.

Shirley was greatly loved by her friends and family and all the different pets that she adopted over the years. Her loving husband George affectionately called her "Big Red" because of her vivid red hair and for often being bigger than life for all of us. She was a source of inspiration and support and always had a quick wit to provide a laugh whenever it was needed.

Visitation will be held at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan on Wednesday, Nov. 2, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. where her funeral services will be on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Kristine Sigal officiating. Those desiring may make contributions to the Humane Society of Huron Valley, 3100 Cherry Hill Rd., Ann Arbor, MI 48105.

Richard Smith

Formerly of Milan

Richard Smith, 65 of Lake Worth, Florida passed away Nov. 9, 2005.

He was born April 18, 1940 in Milan to Julius and Mary Josephine (Guess) Smith. After graduating from Milan High School, class of 1958, where he varsity lettered for two years in football and basketball, he entered the USAF and retired in 1978. He was a Vietnam Veteran and a life member of VFW Post 4360 of Palm Springs, Fla.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Bertie, and his parents. He is survived by his brother Fred (Karen); sisters JoAnn (Joe) Maddaford of West Palm Beach, Fla. and Barbara Jean (Jerry) Erneston of LaBelle, Fla.; children, Barbara Ann, Debbie, Richard (Kathy) and Robert (LeeAnn); and three grandchildren.

No services were held. The family requests all donations be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Ave., West Palm Beach, Fla.

Karen Ann Prajzner

Karen Ann Prajzner, infant daughter of Daniel Prajzner and Debra Chriscinske was stillborn Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at Bixby Medical Center.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by two half-sisters, Jessica Prajzner and Lyndsai Chriscinske; her grandparents, Gary and LuAnn Chriscinske, Ann Chriscinske, and Alex and Janet Prajzner; great-grandmother, Florence Barber; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Anderson Funeral Home out of Adrian.

Mildred Hilge

Ypsilanti

Mildren Hilge, 94, passed away Monday, Nov. 28, 2005 in Ypsilanti.

She was the dear wife of the late Paul Hilge and loving aunt to her nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was be held at Muehlig Funeral Chapel, (403 S. Fourth Avenue, Ann Arbor) on Saturday, Dec. 3. Burial followed at Highland cemetery in Ypsilanti.

Serena May Osborne

Formerly of Macon

Serena May Osborne passed away Dec. 2, 2005 at Bixby Medical Center at 6:45 a.m.

She was born May 20, 1928 in Ann Arbor to parents Oscar and Emma (Bartlett) Hehr. She was married to Robert Allen Osborne on Aug. 28, 1960 and resided in Macon until a recent move to Tecumseh. Serena was a member of Macon United Methodist Church and an active member of the UMW. She was a homemaker and worked several years in the food services at Boysville in Macon. She was happiest when serving her family, friends and neighbors with love and generosity.

She is survived by her husband and three children, daughter Pamela (David) Snyder and sons Douglas (Elise) Haines and Robert (Linda) Haines and one sister Luetta Osborne. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Christina Bastanfar, Bryan Snyder, Renee Lukas, Nicole Haines, Amy Haines, Julie Van Black, and Lori Haines. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren and two loving nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, George Osborne.

The funeral service took place on Monday, Dec. 5 at the Macon United Methodist Church with Rev. Dale Brown officiating. Burial followed at the Macon cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Macon United Methodist Church. Also, in lieu of flowers, non-perishable food items will be accepted at the funeral home or church to be donated to the Salvation Army.

Brent Anthony Legault

Milan

Anthony Brent Legault, age 23, died unexpectedly Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005 in Green Bay, Wis.

He was born Aug. 5, 1982 in Ypsilanti. Brent graduated from Milan High School in 2001. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Ypsilanti. He also enjoyed music and played the piano.

Survivors include: his parents, Barbara (Tim) Smith of Milan and Michael (Gayle) Legault of Belleville; grandparents, Herbert and Mary Lou Linke and Raymond and Patricia Legault; two sisters, Rachel and Nichole Legault; one brother, Timothy Smith Jr.; godmother, Linda Linke Zemmer; special friend, Holly Whitton of Green Bay, Wis., and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, Dec. 8 at 11 a.m. at Victorious Life Church, 1405 Sweet Rd., Ypsilanti.

Contributions may be made in Brent's name to Dawn Farms. Envelopes are available at Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel where the family will greet friends on Wednesday, Dec. 7 from 6-9 p.m. and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday.

Wanda J. Thompson

Milan

Wanda J. Thompson was born on Sept. 26, 1919 to Ivan and Viola Fern Bird. She passed away on Friday, Dec. 9, 2005 at the Saline Evangelical Home after a long illness.

She was married to Jack D. Thompson on Jan. 18, 1939 and he survives. Wanda's parents and sister Wilda Craig Doran preceded her in death. Wanda was very active in the Milan community. She was a longtime member of the People's Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder, a Sunday school teacher as well as a participant on countless church committees. She was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, a Scout leader, worked on the city election board and was a substitute U.S. rural mail carrier for many years. Until recently, Wanda was food director for the Milan Senior Lunch Program. She volunteered for Aid in Milan, the Umbrella Shop, and the Milan Area Chamber of Commerce. Her most treasured job was being a mother, cooking and baking for her family, and cheering for the Milan Big Reds.

Wanda was a dear person who will be greatly missed by the community as well as her family and friends.

Besides her husband, survivors include: her four children, Larry Thompson (Joanne) of St. Louis, Mo., Von Thompson (Cindi) of Saline, Jon (Sharon) Thompson of Willis, and daughter Lou Ann Thompson of Milan; a niece, Kristin Craig Smith (Gerald) of Chelsea; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place; a memorial service honoring her life will take place on Jan. 8, 2006 at 4:30 p.m. at the People's Presbyterian Church, 210 Smith St., Milan. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the People's Presbyterian Church.

Rose E. Rhora

Formerly of Milan

The Lord called Rose E. Rhora, 88, of Tecumseh home to be with her husband Howard on Friday, Dec. 9, 2005.

She was born March 14, 1917 in Milan, the daughter of Roscoe and Nancy (Preston) Rendel. She was married to Howard Rhora on April 20, 1934 and he preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 2001. Rose was a member of the Britton Congregational Church where she was also a member of the Mary Martha Circle. She was a member of the Herrick Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Macon Extension Club, and Holloway Mothers' Club. She was employed in the meat department at Country Market, Vescio's Grocery, and as receptionist for Dr. William Adams Dental Office in Tecumseh.

Rose is survived by two sons, Harold (Julie) Rhora of Tecumseh and Jerry (Carol) Rhora of Hazel Park; one daughter, Lu Ann Gove of Anchorage, Alaska; two brothers, Leland Rendel of Ypsilanti and George Rendel of Florida; four sisters, Ruth Reum of Milan, Mildred Rowe and Margaret (George) Schechter of Ypsilanti, and Lucille (Walt) Dindoffer of Lambertville; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. In addition to her husband, Howard, one sister, Dorothy Rendel, preceded Rose in death. Howard and Rose lived in the neighborhood for more than 30 years. The family would like to express a special thanks to those neighbors who watched over her since Howard's passing.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Dec. 13 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Tecumseh Chapel of Couture-Handler Funeral Homes. The funeral service was at the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 11 a.m. with Pastor David Welcome officiating. Burial followed at Brookside cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Britton Congregational Church.

Couture-Handler Funeral Home in Tecumseh handled services. The funeral was held Monday, Dec. 5 at the Macon United Methodist Church with burial at the Macon cemetery.

Alexander Abbott

Bradford

Formerly of Saline

Alexander Abbott Bradford, age 18, of Ortonville, passed away Dec. 12, 2005.

Alexander was the beloved son of Christopher and Donna, dear brother of Ruby Claire and Owen Christopher, grandson of Joe and Jean Abbott of Saline, Nancy and Terry Owen of Ohio, and William and Bobbie Bradford of Saline. He was the great-grandson of Ruby Pickett of Kentucky, Jeanne Keplinger of Ohio, and Mary Helen Callender of Dearborn.

A memorial service was held Dec. 15 at the Lewis E. Wint & Son TRUST 100 Funeral Home of Clarkston.

Larry W. Ruble

Formerly of Saline

Larry W. Ruble, age 70 of Brooklyn, passed away at W.A. Foote Memorial Hospital on Dec. 12, 2005.

Mr. Ruble was born Nov. 19, 1935 in Parkersburg, W.V. He was the son of Everett and Bertha (Brown) Ruble. Larry was a member of the American Legion Brooklyn Post 315, a former member of Kiwanis. Larry served our country during the Korean War in the Navy on the U.S. Coral Sea and the USS Midway.

Larry is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sharon; a brother Gayle (Patsy) Ruble of Greencastle, Pa.; a nephew, Gayle Jr. (Leslie) Ruble of Orlando, Fla.; and a niece, Andrea (Howard) Sprankle of Greencastle, Pa.

His parents preceded Larry in death. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Macedonia United Brethren Church in Greencastle, Pa. or Greater Hillsdale Humane Society.
