JACKIE TARLEA

Saline

Jackie Tarlea, 31, of Saline died Dec. 21, 2007. She was the dear daughter of Teodor and Julia; sister of Bryan and Travis; and granddaughter of Aurora Tarlea.

She is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services were held Monday at the Santeiu and Son Funeral Home in Garden City and burial was at Union Udell cemetery in Ypsilanti Township.

NORMAN BOHNETT

Saline

Norman G. Bohnett, 96, of Saline died Dec. 23, 2007, at Tecumseh Place II in Tecumseh. He was born May 1, 1911, in Lodi Township the son of George and Amanda (Weimer) Bohnett.

Mr. Bohnett was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor. On Feb. 22, 1936, he married Elsie F. Marion, and she preceded him in death Feb. 20, 1985.

Mr. Bohnett was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Saline, where he served on the Church Council, the Saline Township Board, and was a delegate to the M.M.P.A. He was also a director of Shaw School.

Survivors include two sons, James H. (Laura) Bohnett and Neil (Corrine) Bohnett; one sister-in-law, Doris Marion; and five grandchildren, Susan (Leonard) Frey, Steven (Heather) Bohnett, James N. (Teri) Bohnett, David (Rebecca) Bohnett and Carlene (Scott) Rogers.

Other survivors include great-grandchildren Jacob and Stephanie Frey, Mike, Dan, Sam, Joe, Valerie, John and Marie Bohnett, Ryan and Blake Rogers; three step-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Ruth Couture.

In addition to his wife, Elise, he was preceded in death by one son, Larry; sisters, Gertrude (Fred) Braun, and Esther (Roland) Sweetland; and brothers-in-law, Jake (Hilda), Oscar (Oliva), Reuben (Elsie), Carl (Ruth), Emanuel (Dorothy), Alwin (Ethel), and Herman Marion.

A funeral was held Dec. 27 at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Saline. The Revs. William Natsis and Mark Smith officiated.

Burial was at Oakwood cemetery in Saline following the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Envelopes are available at the church.

LOIS I. BOWEN

Saline

Lois I. Bowen, 92, of Saline died Dec. 24, 2007, under the loving care of her family and Hospice of Jackson and Oaklawn.

She was born May 12, 1915, in Woodstock Township the daughter of Harvey and Letha (Morgan) Wilcox. She married Louis Bowen April 18, 1940, in Brooklyn, and he preceded her in death after 54 years of marriage in 1994.

Mrs. Bowen was a lifetime member and past matron of the Fraternal Order of the Eastern Star Lodge 311 in Saline, a member of St. Michael's and All Angels Episcopal Church. She worked as a registered nurse at the University of Michigan Hospitals.

Mrs. Bowen is survived by her daughter, Sandiland (Gene) Langschied of Brooklyn; granddaughter, Letha (Pete) Nichols; two great-grandsons, Dakota Spreeman and Bryce Nichols; a sister: Gail (Lanny) Walla; a cousin, Jean (Roy) Tanner; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life was held Dec. 28 at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Braun Chapel, in Brooklyn. The Rev. Daniel Schultz of Crosspointe Church officiated. Burial was at St. Michael's cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Fraternal Order of the Eastern Star Lodge 311.

MELVIN F. CROMER

Milan

Melvin F. Cromer, 80, of Milan died Dec. 21, 2007, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He was born July 21, 1927, in Anderson, South Carolina to Lawrence and Lura (Cox) Cromer. On Dec. 24, 1959, he married Joan Merillat in Ypsilanti, and she survives.

Mr. Cromer served in the Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Milan Baptist Church. He worked for General Motors-Willow Run plant from 1956 to 1967 and owned and operated Mel's Market in Ypsilanti from 1961 to 1986.

Survivors besides his wife include four children: Gwen (Tim) Rodgers of Camden, Mich.; Michael (Deborah) Cromer of Saline; Brian (Chris) Cromer of Naples, Fla.; and Todd (Jackie) Cromer of Milan. Other survivors include 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three sisters-in law, Sula, Bessie, and Janet (Merillat) Cromer, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by six brothers, two sisters, and a grandson.

Visitation was held at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home in Milan. A funeral was held Dec. 24 at the funeral home with Pastor Arnold Bracy officiating. Burial followed in Marble Park cemetery in Milan.

Memorial contributions may be made to Milan Baptist Church.

JOHN BAUMEISTER

Warren

John R. Baumeister, 66, of Warren died April 12, 2008, after a long battle with cancer. He was born Aug. 21, 1941.

He is survived by two daughters, Wendy (Brian) Burrows and Terri L. (Doug) Crosbie; three grandchildren, Doug Jr., Heather McPhee and Stephani; a brother, Tom (Sharon); a sister, Patricia Copeland; a niece, Selina (Tom) Watts; and his buddy, Bobo.

"As we lay our dad to rest in peace, he always will be loved and missed, " his family said.

Memorial contributions are welcomed and may be made to American Cancer Society of Michigan. Cremation took place Monday at Generation Funeral and Cremation.

LEWIS MUNFORD

Saline

Lewis D. Munford, 89, of Saline died April 7, 2008, at the Evangelical Home of Saline. He was born May of 1918 in Detroit, and was a graduate of the Ford Trade School.

Mr. Munford was an Army veteran in World War II. He had his private pilot's license and kept an airplane for many years at the Ann Arbor Airport. He also had several boats and loved fishing on the Great Lakes.

Mr. Munford was an avid HAM radio operator, as well, and his call sign was W8YIO.

Cremation has taken place. Military Honors Burial will take place at a later date at Great Lakes National cemetery in Holly.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline.

MICHAEL THOMAS HARRISON

Saline

Michael Thomas Harrison, 49, of Saline died Jan. 15, 2008, at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. He was born Sept. 8, 1958, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Pat and Rosie (Rowland) Harrison.

On Feb. 14, 1995, in Saline, he married Nancy J. Pope, and she survives.

Mr. Harrison loved hunting, fishing, stockcar racing, motocross racing and hockey.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy; his son, Michael Patrick Harrison of Saline; his parents, Pat and Rosie Harrison of Hemet, Calif.; sister, Wendy (David) Smith of Riverside, Calif.; sister, Terrianne (Mike) Nixson of Bermuda; brother, Keith Harrison of Lancaster, Calif.; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Norma and Richard Pope of Saline; sister-in-law, Lynn Pope of Grass Lake; brother-in-law, Dan (Jackie) Pope of Tecumseh; and brother-in-law, Larry Guenther of Munith.

Other survivors include many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Aaron Richard Harrison, and his brother, Robert J. Harrison.

Memorial services were held Jan. 21 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Saline. The Rev. Mark Smith officiated.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Mr. Harrison's name.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline.

FRANK JAMES RIGGS

Saline

Frank James Riggs, 93, of Saline died Jan. 17, 2008, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Aug. 9, 1914, the son of Harold and Ruth Riggs. On Sept. 9, 1938, he married the love of his life, Shirley Bock.

Mr. Riggs is survived by his wife, Shirley, of 69 years; children, Joe (Sue) Riggs, Karen (Dick) Mort and Trudy (Bill) Bell; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Riggs was a farmer and also worked at the University of Michigan. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Saline, where a memorial service was held Monday. The Rev. James Tuttle officiated.

Envelopes are available for Arbor Hospice and the Methodist church.

Arrangements were by Muehlig Chapel in Ann Arbor.

TOM MOEBS

Twain Harte, Calif.

Formerly of Milan

Tom Moebs, 68, of Twain Harte, Calif., died Jan. 15, 2008. He was born March 26, 1939, in Ann Arbor, and he grew up in Milan. He was the son of William and Evelyn Moebs.

Mr. Moebs graduated from Milan High School in 1957 and moved to Mercury, Nev., to work at the Nevada Test Site in 1962, where he met and married his wife, Pat Webster.

Mr. Moebs and his family later moved to California, where he owned and operated 7-Eleven franchises in Stockton and Oakdale before moving to Twain Harte in 1992. He owned and operated a 7-Eleven franchise in Twain Harte until his retirement in February 2007.

Mr. Moebs took great pride in helping the community of Twain Harte. He organized an annual Christmas Shopping Spree for needy children for the past 14 years.

Mr. Moebs is survived by his wife, Pat, of 45 years; his son, Bill (Suzie) Moebs, and grandchildren, Haley, Billy and Scotty of Sacramento, Calif.; his son, Tom (Bernita) Moebs and grandchildren, Brian, Daniel and Riley of Modesto, Calif.; his brother, William Moebs of Henderson, Nev.; and his sister, Susan (Gale) Polter of Dundee.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. A celebration of life was held Jan. 21 in Twain Harte, Calif.

ROBERT B. GREEN

Saline

Robert B. Green, 63, of Saline died suddenly Jan. 28, 2008, at home in Saline. He was born March 27, 1944, in Saline, the son of John and Marjorie (Boettger) Green.

Mr. Green was the owner of a painting business in Saline, and he was a songwriter and musician. He loved playing pool and he also loved his companion and friend, his dog, Bailey.

Mr. Green is survived by his children, Jason (Shelly) Louden, Jeffery Louden, Jennifer Louden and Jamie Lynn (Robert) Williams, all of Saline.

Other survivors include his grandchildren, Desirae, Ayla, Brionna, Maya, Isabella and Olivia; his brothers, Thomas (Linda) Green, Denny (Carmen) Green, Gary (Linett) Green and Steven Karpenski; and his former wife, Kathleen Louden; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Amy Karpenski.

A funeral was held Monday at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Saline. The Rev. Patti Kenney officiated. Burial was at Oakwood cemetery in Saline.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Robert Green Memorial Fund at TCF Bank. Envelopes are available at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline.
