McGinley, Ruth Esther
Ypsilanti, MI

There is one less beautiful soul in the world today. Ruth Esther McGinley, age 85, formerly of Collegewood Drive, Ypsilanti, passed away at Bortz Health Care on Tuesday, December 21. Mrs. McGinley suffered from many illnesses that included Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. Ruth was born August 30, 1919 in Akron, OH but grew up in Pennsylvania. On April 18, 1941, she married Bernard McGinley. They later moved to Michigan in 1947, where she resided until her death. During Ruth’s many years in this area, she was a homemaker and worked in finance as an administrative assistant. She always willingly gave her time and talent to many causes, from assisting at her daughters’ schools to volunteering at her church and with the Red Cross. Mrs. McGinley was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard “Bernie” in August of 2001. All of her siblings, a brother and three sisters, have also passed away. Those surviving and feeling her loss are- daughters, Maureen Silverberg of Ypsilanti and Sharon Woodbridge of Maryland; son-in-law, Steve Silverberg of Ypsilanti; grandchildren, Bridgit Peeper of Ypsilanti, Brendan Peeper of Florida, Alison Fowler, Kevin and Justin Woodbridge of Maryland; and her great grandchildren, Ethan, Olivia and Natalie Fowler of Maryland and Brittany Paul of Florida. Many nieces, nephews, a brother-in-law and loving friends also survive. Alzheimer’s couldn’t diminish Ruth’s love for University of MI football. Almost to the end, she could be heard singing the MI Fight Song, “Hail to the Victors.” In keeping with the spirit of this holiday season that Ruth so much loved and because their mother always rejoiced in helping others, Maureen and Sharon ask that you reach inside your hearts and make a contribution to brighten the lives of those in need. The funeral mass will be 11-00 A.M. Tuesday, December 27 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 410 W. Cross Street, Ypsilanti with Fr. Edmond Ertzbischoff as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John cemetery. The family will receive friends at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Monday where a scripture service will be prayed at 7-00 P.M.
