Johnson, Judy Ann
Ypsilanti Township, MI
Age 55, passed away Friday, June 24, 2005. She was born April 28, 1950 in Booneville, MS, the daughter of Mary Louise Miller-Brown and James Brown. Judy was baptized at Wolf Creek Baptist Church in Booneville at an early age. In Judy’s earlier years, she came to Michigan with her mom who was looking for a better life for herself and her children. Judy attended and graduated from Ann Arbor Pioneer high school. She continued on in life by becoming a mother, wife and homemaker. She soon entered into the work force, working for General Motors. Judy had a host of hobbies and talents. She was a seamstress, and especially loved creating outfits that were her special design – therefore creating a “one of a kind, ” just like herself!!!! She loved to take pictures and to shoot that movie camera. Just by looking at the pictures she took you knew that she herself was special. Judy also enjoyed doing ceramics later on in her life, when she began to get ill. The ceramics were a creative outlet for her and she used to say that it “kept her busy.” Judy was an entrepreneur, who at one time owned a shop called “Judy’s Boutique.” If you ever went to Judy’s Boutique, you would not leave without a wig, because Judy was a shrewd salesperson. She was definitely a self-made person. Judy also formed a modeling group, which held fashion shows in the Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor and metropolitan Detroit areas. I, we, all of us will miss her. Judy leaves behind a husband, Leroy Johnson; two sons, Leroy Harris and Lamar Harris; stepdaughters, Chantu Johnson, Melissa Johnson-Evans and Helen B. Stewart; granddaughters, Martiona Webster and Remina Reeves; mother, Mary L. Miller-Brown; sisters and brothers, Fred Miller, Jimmy Miller, Barbara Brown, Christopher Brown, Letitia Mitchell and Lulita Parker-Watts; mother-in-law, Vera Coffer; brother-in-law, Tommy Johnson; sisters-in-law, Shirley Johnson-Conley, Yvonne Johnson and Francine Ellison; and a host of other relatives, foster children and friends. The funeral service will be 11-00 A.M. Friday, July 1 at New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church, 2345 Tyler Road, Ypsilanti, with Rev. Dr. J. Nathaniel Crout officiating. Entombment will follow in United Memorial Gardens. Visitation at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel will be from 2-00 – 9-00 P.M. Thursday with the family hour from 7-00-8-00 P.M.
