Age 47, passed away Monday, June 6, 2005 at University of MI Hospital. She was born June 5, 1958 in Ypsilanti, the daughter of Lorenzo and Betty (Scheurer) Bullock. Diana worked at JAC Products in Saline for ten years. Survivors include- one son, David Salisbury of Adrian; one granddaughter, Shelby; two sisters, Brenda Horn of Clinton and Renee Asbury of Tecumseh; two nephews, Johnny and Denny; and one niece, Stacy. She was preceded in death by her parents. The funeral service will be 1-30 P.M. Friday, June 10 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel with Pastor Gordon Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Union-Udell cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 A.M.-4 P.M. and 6-9 P.M. Thursday.

Shepherd, Maurice R. “Bob”
Ypsilanti Township, MI

Age 69, passed away Monday, July 4, 2005 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital following a short illness. He was born October 16, 1935 in Ypsilanti, the son of Herbert and Martha (Marsh) Shepherd. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On September 4, 1961, he married Irene F. Young and she survives. Bob was employed by Ford Motor Company, Ypsilanti plant for 25 years, retiring in 1999. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his loving wife of 43 years, survivors include- two stepsons, Joseph Gerald (Naudine) Beard of Lewiston, MI and Roy David (Shirley) Beard of Central City, KY; seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one nephew, Dick (Beth) Wolf of Boston, MA; and one niece, Cathy (Carl) Wegener and family of Stillwater, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters. The funeral service will be 3-00 P.M. Friday, July 8 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Alban cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 2-4 & 6-9 P.M. Thursday.

Slay-Monahan, Katherine Virginia
Ypsilanti, MI

Age 83, passed away Friday, June 10, 2005 following an extended illness. She was born January 31, 1922, in Rome, GA, the daughter of Willard and Winnie (Sherman) Kyzer. Mrs. Slay-Monahan was an elementary teacher with the Ypsilanti Public Schools for several years. She then was a cook for the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority at the University of MI until the early 1980s. She was adventurous and loved to travel. Survivors include two sons, Ronald W. Slay and Christopher (Monica) Slay and three grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Ronald Joseph Slay and Thomas Owen Monahan Ph.D. The memorial service will be 11-00 A.M. Monday, June 13 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel. Contributions may be made to the Huron Valley Humane Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 10-00 A.M. until time of service Monday.

Smith, Kimberly Ann
Ypsilanti, MI

Age 45, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2005. She was born June 11, 1960 in Martin, KY, the daughter of Jack and Flo (Howard) Slone. Kimberly was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church and worked for ADP in Ann Arbor and Motor Wheel. Survivors include- one son, Shane Thomas Smith of Ypsilanti; one daughter, Whitney Lynn Bevins of Ypsilanti; her parents, Jack and Flo Slone of Ypsilanti; granddaughter, Layla Jade Smith; sister, Machelle Slone of Belleville; brother, Jack Shane (Lisa Marie) Slone of Belleville; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be 1-30 P.M. Monday, June 20 at First Free Will Baptist Church, 1244 Holmes Road, Ypsilanti with Rev. Rudy Shankle officiating. Contributions may be made to the family. Tansey, Holly

Age 24, passed away Monday June 20, 2005 following an extended illness. She was born December 30, 1980 in Ypsilanti. Survivors include- husband, Michael Tansey; three daughters, Magen-Rose Ann, Janice Lynn and Lizabeth Jade; her mother, Cathy (Joey) Mull of Ypsilanti; two sisters, Greta (Mike) Boyer of Belleville and Angela Johnson of Ypsilanti; one nephew; one niece; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. The funeral service will be 2-00 P.M. Saturday, June 25 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel. Cremation will follow. Contributions may be made to Michael for the care of the children. Envelopes are available at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 12 noon until time of service Saturday.

Tincher, Lawton
Ypsilanti Township, MI

Age 78, passed away Monday, June 27, 2005 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He was born May 25, 1927 in Jeff, KY, the son of Henry and Lula (Owen) Tincher. On March 17, 1947, he married Elizabeth Napier in Hazard, KY and she preceded him in death February 11, 1996. Lawton was a supervisor at General Motors Willow Run Assembly plant, retiring in 1982. He was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. Survivors include- two daughters, Betty Stamper of KY and Sherry (Al) Scott of Ypsilanti; one son, Henry (Kathi) Tincher of Ypsilanti; five grandsons; one granddaughter; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Fern Tincher and Rosetta Tincher. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers. The funeral service will be 1-00 P.M. Thursday, June 30 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel with Mr. Leonard White of Ridge Road Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in Washtenong Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to St. Joseph Mercy Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home where the family will receive friends 2-4 & 6-9 P.M. tonight.

Wages, Madalynne Hope and Melody Elease

Madalynne Hope, 1lb 3ozs and Melody Elease, 1lb 1oz, precious infant daughters of V. Lee and Deborah (Castor) Wages, went to be with the Lord Sunday June 19, 2005. In addition to their parents, survivors include- three siblings, Peter, Julianna and Emmalee Wages; their maternal grandmother, Martha Castor; and their paternal grandparents, Pete and Patti Wages. The funeral ceremony will be 6-00 P.M. Tuesday, June 21 at Southside Baptist Tabernacle 6710 Textile, Ypsilanti, with Dan Bledsoe officiating. A private graveside ceremony will be held 9-00 A.M. Wednesday at Union-Udell cemetery, Ypsilanti. Those desiring may make contributions to the Southside Baptist Tabernacle Church Playground Fund. Arrangements by STARK FUNERAL SERVICE. Willis, Sadie
Ypsilanti, MI

Age 76, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. She was born September 20, 1928 in Coatope, AL, the daughter of Ed and Lue Ella (Cooper) Tucker. She was a member of Christ Temple Baptist Church and Christ Temple Missionary Circle 2. Mrs. Willis volunteered as a grandparent at the Willow Run Public Schools. Survivors include- eleven children, Martha Davis, Marie (David) Franklin, Ella Clark, A.J. Willis Jr., Lorraine (David) Spencer and Jacqueline (James) Taylor, all of Ypsilanti, Jeffrey and Lester Johnson, both of Cleveland, OH, Bonnie Johnson of Ypsilanti, Benny Willis of Cleveland and Joyce Benson of Ypsilanti; a special Goddaughter, Velma (Versell) Jones; her son-in-law, Hubert West; 23 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; sister, Toogie Tucker; sister-in-law, Juanita Tucker; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Dorothy West, her parents and two brothers. The funeral service will be 11-00 A.M. Saturday, June 18 at Christ Temple Baptist Church, 2372 Holmes Road, Ypsilanti with Pastor Steven D. Riley officiating. Burial will follow in Highland cemetery. Age 61, died August 27, 2005. He was born June 29, 1944, the son of Edmund Norbert and Cecilia Josephine (Wantuch) Andreski. Beloved father of Christopher, Cheri Stone and Thomas M.; grandfather of six; loving brother of Ruth Otrompke, Edmund and David Andreski. Preceded in death by wife Betty J. (Fitzpatrick). Biggle, Hedwig T.
Ypsilanti, MI.

Age 85, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2005 at Arbor Hospice Residence. She was born May 29, 1920 in Detroit, the daughter of Anthony and Stefania (Uscinski) Janiszewski. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Ferndale, MI and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Wayne State University, where she was concertmistress of the Wayne State University Symphony Orchestra. She was a string instrument teacher for the Highland Park Schools and the Lincoln Consolidated Schools, where she established an elementary string instrumental program. A professional musician and soloist, she also gave private violin lessons and was concertmistress of the Ypsilanti Civic Symphony. Her quartet, “Romantic Strings, ” performed for a number of community and private events. She was a member of Mu Phi Epsilon sorority for over 60 years and received a number of scholarships and awards for her virtuoso performances. On June 21, 1947, she married Lloyd Biggle Jr. in Detroit and they were married for 55 years. He preceded he in death September 12, 2002. She was a passionate gardener, planting and caring for many varieties of flowers, vegetables and houseplants, sewed beautiful clothing and gifts for herself and others, and loved to cook her special Polish dishes. She enjoyed traveling with her family, especially to Las Vegas. Hedwig loved people and leaves many beloved students and friends to cherish her memory. Survivors include- her daughter, Donna Emerson of Caro, MI; son, Kenneth (Deanna) Biggle of Adrian, MI; sister, Helene Hirvela of St. Petersburg, FL; two nephews and their families. Hedwig’s family is proud of her courageous fight against cancer and grateful to all those who made her final years comfortable and filled with love. She was a very special lady. Visitation will be 3-00 – 7-00 P.M. Wednesday, September 7 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel with a brief memorial service following at 7-00 P.M. Burial will be 10-00 A.M. Thursday, September 8 at Arborcrest Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to either the American Cancer Society or Arbor Hospice Residence.

Carter, Edna Mae
Dexter, MI

Age 75, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2005. She was born August 30, 1929 in East Point, KY, the daughter of Ed and Mary (Craft) George. Mrs. Carter was a member of Trinity Free Will Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed. Survivors include- two daughters, Mrs. Mary V. (Carter) Meadows of Ypsilanti and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn and Joyce A. (Carter) Massengill of Dexter; five grandsons, Matthew and Richard Meadows, Billy and Bryan Hamilton, all of Michigan and Dwayne Massengill of TN; four great granddaughters, Ashley, Kim, Darian and Samantha; six great grandsons, Dylan, Billy Tyler, Tristan, Travis, Clayton and Ethan. She is also survived by five brothers and five sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Marvin Scott George; sister, Lois Jean Collins; her husband, Richard G. Carter; and her only granddaughter, Kimberly Sue Carter. There will be a memorial service 7-00 P.M. Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at Trinity Free Will Baptist Church, 410 Oregon, Ypsilanti. Contributions may be made to the church or Arbor Hospice. Envelopes are available at the church where the family will receive friends 5-7-00 P.M. Wednesday.

Cook, Kennie Joe
Ypsilanti, MI
Age 63, passed away suddenly Sunday, August 14, 2005. He was born July 8, 1943 in Ypsilanti, MI, the son of James E. and Ruby A. (Griffin) Cook. Mr. Cook was a painter for the Ypsilanti Public Schools, retiring in 2002. He was a member of the Ypsilanti Eagles, Aerie #2250 and was an avid car and boat enthusiast. Survivors include- two sons, Frederick and Daniel Cook; two grandchildren, Danielle and Patrick Cook; and two brothers, David and Roger Cook. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Pat Cook. The funeral service will be 1-30 P.M. Friday, August 19 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Washtenong Memorial Park. The family will greet friends at the funeral home 6-9 P.M. Wednesday and 2-4 & 6-9 P.M. Thursday.

Grady, Opal B.
Evart, Michigan

Age 83 passed away peacefully on Monday August 15, 2005 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 14, 1921 in Obion County, Tennessee to James and Lura (Bowden) Caksackkar. On October 28, 1939 she married Samuel Grady and he survives. She is also survived by two daughters; Laverne (Conrad) Henry of Milan and Sue (Clyde) Truesdell of Pickford, a son Bill (Susan) Grady of Canton, a daughter in-law Sharon Grady of Loveland, CO., ten grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. A sister Jean Calhoun, sister-in-law Vivian Caksackkar both of Union City, TN and many loving nieces and nephews also survive. Her parents, a son Ralph, three brothers and one sister preceded her in death. Visitation will be held at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan tonight from 6 – 8 pm. and on Thursday 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday 11-00am. with Rev. Dale Kleimola and Tom McMullen co-officiating. Burial will follow in Marble Park cemetery, Milan. Those desiring may make contributions to Hospice of Michigan, St. Paul Lutheran Church of Milan or Stalwart Presbyterian Church, Pickford, MI.
