Age 92, passed away Monday, September 5, 2005 at Superior Woods. She was born May 26, 1913 in New York, NY, the daughter of John J. and Susan (Conway) Heaney. Elizabeth was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Belleville and she worked at Spring Arbor for many years. Survivors include one niece, Linda L. (Richard) Oster of Belleville and two nephews, James F. (Bonnie) Heaney and John S. (Michelle) Heaney, both of Ypsilanti. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister. The funeral service will be 11-00 A.M. Wednesday, September 7 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel with Fr. Tom Cusick of St. Anthony Catholic Church officiating. Burial will follow in St. John cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10-00 A.M. until time of service Wednesday.

Howell, Olva M.
Ypsilanti, MI.
(formerly of Kentucky)

Age 60, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2005 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. She was born November 28, 1944 in Banner, KY, the daughter of Olva and Frances (Samons) Rice. On March 30, 2005, she married Hayes Howell Jr. and he survives. Olva worked at Chrysler Assembly for 20 years, retiring in 1987. In addition to her husband Hayes, survivors include- three daughters, Virginia Carpenter of Ypsilanti, Frances (Chuck) Nolte of KY and Dorrena (Martin) Fields of Ypsilanti; six grandchildren, Neil, Dean, Jeremy, Dillion, Jasmine and Shannon; one great grandson, Heyden; eight sisters; one brother; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be 3-9 P.M. Saturday, September 3 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel. The funeral service and burial will take place in KY.

Jenkins, Glenda Ann
Ypsilanti, MI

Age 46, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2005 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. She was born August 17, 1958 in Benton Harbor, Michigan, the daughter of James Edward and Anna Queen (McGough) Allen. Mrs. Jenkins graduated from Monticello High School, Monticello, Arkansas. On April 15, 1980, she married Warren Jenkins in Toledo, Ohio and he survives. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. In addition to her husband of 25 years, survivors include- two children, Lewis (Kolrena) and Anita (Adrian) Howard Jenkins; seven grandchildren, Patrick, Halethia, Shamia, Zamaria, Marcus, Harmony and Keion; her stepmother, Meta Flemmings; six sisters, Christie (Lamar) Phillips of Benton Harbor, Roberta Allen of Atlanta, GA, Dahletha (Terry) Armstead of Atlanta, GA, Karima Flemmings of Benton Harbor, Shanetta Flemmings of Atlanta, GA and Shonetta Howard of Benton Howard; two brothers, Mark (Ina) Allen of Benton Harbor and Tyrone Allen of Benton Harbor; one uncle, John (Clementine) Allen of Milwaukee, WI; three aunts, Georgia (Paul) Merritt of Benton Harbor, Willa Mae Allen of Chicago, IL and Ethel (Beverly) Jones of Alexandria, VA; great aunt, Georgia Tyson of Benton Harbor; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, James Darnell Allen Jr. The funeral service will be 11-00 A.M., Friday, August 19, 2005 at New Hope Baptist Church, 218 Chapin, Ann Arbor, with Dr. Albert J. Lightfoot, Pastor, officiating. Cremation will follow. The family hour will be at the church from 10-00 A.M. until time of service Friday. Kelsey, Donald F.
Milan, MI

Age 80 died Friday morning August 19, 2005 at Heartland Health Care Center-Ann Arbor. He was born November 21, 1924 in Milan to George and Ruth (Kreager) Kelsey. On June 28, 1952 he married Marguerite Whitehead in Milan and she survives. Don served in the navy during WWII, worked for Wolverine Plastics for 23 years before retiring from H&N Manufacturing in 1991. He also was a lifelong member of the Marble Memorial United Methodist Church and the Milan Senior Citizens Club.
Survivors besides his wife include a daughter Carolynn (Steven) Lenhoff of Southfield, a son Kevin R. (MaryKay) Kelsey of Winter Springs, Florida, six grandchildren; Bradley and Carissa Lenhoff, Kristin, Nathan, Ryan and Erik Kelsey, and two brothers; George (Thelma) of Milan and Ronald (Mary) of Macon.
Funeral services will be held 11-00 am Tuesday at Marble Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Kristine Sigal officiating. Burial with military honors under the auspices of Washtenaw County Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Marble Park cemetery, Milan. Those desiring may make contributions to the Marble Memorial United Methodist Church or the Milan Senior Citizens Club. Envelopes are available at the Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan where friends may call on Sunday from 3-8pm and on Monday from 2-4 and 6-9pm. and at the church on Tuesday from 10-00am until time of service.

Age 54, passed away Tuesday August 30, 2005 in Tinicum Township, PA. Loving husband of Deborah (Hayes) Kos. The memorial service will be 4-00 PM Wednesday September 7 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel.

Leaks, Jessie E.

Age 90, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2005 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. She was born May 31, 1915 in Weir, MS, the daughter of Lazarus and Lucinda (Robertson) Cunningham. She married Fred G. Leaks in Detroit and he preceded her in death January 5, 1971. She received her Bachelors Degree in Education and taught for the Mississippi Public Schools. Ms. Leaks was a member of Holy Cross Baptist Church in Detroit and she worked for the Warren Tank Arsenal for over 30 years. She is survived by four children, fourteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. The funeral service will be 11-00 A.M. Friday, September 9 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel with the family hour from 10-00 A.M. until time of service. Burial will follow in Woodlawn cemetery in Detroit. Contributions may be made to either Bortz Health Care of Ypsilanti or Ann Arbor Health Source. Envelopes are available at the funeral home where visitation will be 5-9 P.M. Thursday.

Massey, Priscilla M.
Chelsea, formerly of Ypsilanti

Age 96 died August 19, 2005 at the Chelsea Retirement Center. She was born February 4, 1909 in Alabaster, Michigan to Edward and Clara (Pelkey) LeFevre. On August 31, 1929 she married A. Glenn Massey in Bowling Green, Ohio and he preceded her in death on April 12, 1996. She is survived by two sons; Norman (Mary) of Tucson, AZ, Robert of CA., two daughters; Jane Marie (Charles) Hayes of Clinton and Geraldine Hale of Saline, 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 10 great great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 11-00am Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Saline with Fr. Will Stephenson as celebrant. Burial of cremains will follow in Oakwood cemetery, Saline, MI. Those desiring may make contributions to the Townsley Village at United Methodist Retirement Center, 805 W. Middle St., Chelsea MI. 48118. Arrangements by Ochalek Stark Funeral Service, Milan.

McElveen, Nellie Mae
Ypsilanti, MI

Age 84, passed away Monday, August 8, 2005 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. She was born October 12, 1920 in Goldsboro, North Carolina, the daughter of Wright and Rosa (Parker) Lanier. For many years, she worked for the University of Michigan, retiring in 1987. Survivors include - two sisters, Odel O’Neil and Annie Ruth King; one brother, Bill “Dennis” Lanier; her special goddaughter, Kathryn, who took wonderful care of her; and several nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave; two sisters, Arnether Parker and Lee Williams; and two brothers, Jessie Lanier and Isaac Parker. The graveside service will be held 11 -00 A.M. Monday, August 15 at Knollwood Memorial Park with Rev. Fred L. Davis of Community Church of God officiating. Visitation will be 6-9 P.M. Sunday at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel.

McNaughton, Maxine Blythe (Hill)
Ypsilanti, MI
Age 92, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at the Gilbert Residence. Maxine was born to Leslie L. and Fannie (Blythe) Hill on February 24, 1913 in Kellogg, Iowa, where she lived until she moved to Grand Rapids, MI in 1935. On January 31, 1941, she married Richard M. McNaughton at the Methodist Church Parsonage in Lowell, MI. They moved to Ypsilanti in 1946 where they have resided ever since. Maxine has been a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Ladies Auxiliary Aerie #2250 of Ypsilanti for 57 years, where she held several offices. In addition to her husband of 64 years, she is survived by son Earl and his wife Betty of Ypsilanti; grandchildren, Dale and his wife Michelle of Westland, Allen and his wife Ginger of Romulus, and Christa; and three great grandchildren, Samantha, John and Logan. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, J. Max Hill. Arrangements by STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel.

Morey, William Roderick, III “Bill”
Ypsilanti, MI

Age 72, passed away Friday, August 26, 2005 at Arbor Hospice Residence following an extended illness. He was born January 27, 1933 in Ypsilanti, the son of the late William H.P. and Gladys M. (Pelton) Morey. He is survived by his wife, Darlene; sister, Judith P. Morey of Ypsilanti; several close cousins; and two step granddaughters. Bill shared his perspective of life through his published writings, his artwork and his sense of humor. His take on life had a positive influence on family and friends. “ He was born with a gift of laughter, and a sense that the world was mad” from Scaramouche, Rafael Sabatini. A memorial service for the family and close friends will be held in September. Contributions in Bill’s memory may be made to Arbor Hospice, 2366 Oak Valley Drive, Ann Arbor, MI. 48103.

Patrina, Bessie Rose
Jacksonville, FL

Age 87, passed away Friday, August 5, 2005 in Jacksonville, after a brief illness. She was born January 8, 1918 in Highland Park, MI, the daughter of Steve and Kate (Malbesa) Mondich. She grew up in the loving household of Rade and Rosa Bokan in Highland Park. On January 19, 1935, she married Andrew F. Patrina in Detroit and he survives. She was a long-time resident of Ypsilanti until January 1985, when they relocated to Jacksonville, FL. She held several offices and was a life member of Ypsilanti Chapter #119, Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a long-time member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Ypsilanti and Church of Our Savior in Jacksonville. Other affiliations include the Florida State Associaton of Florida Artists and locally, the Brushettes (china painters) of Jacksonville, Hoxie Tucker Tent #137 (Circus Fans of America) in Florida and Friends of the Jacksonville Public Library. She will be greatly missed by her family and is survived by her adoring husband of 70 years, Andrew F. Patrina; daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary and Harold R. Hines of Fruit Cove, FL; and a nephew, Robert Bauman of Lake Isabella, CA. Her sister, Helen Janes and brothers, Dewitt C. Mondich, Milan Bokan and Raymond Bokan predeceased her. The funeral service will be 11-00 A.M. Saturday, August 13 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel with Rev. Fr. Jasper Pennington, the former rector from St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Highland cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Ypsilanti Historical Society. Schulz, Lorraine

Age 79, passed away Monday, September 5, 2005. She was born September 9, 1925 in Napoleon, ND, the daughter of Andrew and Caroline (Wentz) Zimmerman. On October 29, 1944, she married Dale Schulz in Napoleon and he survives. She had been a longtime member of Trinity Free Will Baptist Church of Ypsilanti and had been a member of the Ypsilanti Township Senior Center. In addition to her loving husband of 60 years, survivors include- two children, Dennis (Claudia) Schulz of Napoleon, ND and Cheryl (Tim) Watts of Ypsilanti; three grandchildren, Wade Schulz, Amy Prokop and Ryan Schulz; one great grandchild, Klayton Schulz; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Terence Schulz in 2004; one brother, John Zimmerman; and two sisters, Ella Oldenburger and Mary Delzer. The funeral service will be 11-00 A.M. Saturday, September 10 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel with Pastor Calvin Brown of Trinity Free Will Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Washtenong Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to either Trinity Free Will Baptist Church or the American Diabetes Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home where the family will receive friends 6-9 P.M. Friday.

Sizemore, Martha “Susan”
Ypsilanti, MI
Age 43, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at University Hospitals. She was born February 17, 1962 in Martin, KY, the daughter of Ronald D. and Kathryn J. (Martin) Allen. She had been a nurses’ aide for several years and she attended First Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include- her parents, Ronald D. Allen of McDowell, KY and Kathryn J. Eldridge of Ypsilanti; children, David W. Sizemore, Rachael A. Sizemore, Leigina Darby and Geoffrey Darby; two grandchildren, Jaykob and Johnathan Sizemore; brother and sister, Ronda David and Paul S. Allen, both of Ypsilanti; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Sherman and Jacqueline Martin and John and Arminia Allen. The memorial service will be 7-00 P.M. Tuesday, August 23 at First Free Will Baptist Church, 1244 Holmes Road, Ypsilanti where the family will greet friends at 6-00 P.M. Rev. Rudy Shankle will officiate. Arrangements by STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel.

Suliman, David A.
Willis, MI

Age 55 died unexpectedly on August 16, 2005. He was born January 3, 1950 to Anthony and Rosalina (Pereira) Suliman. In 1969 he married Fern Christman in Milan and she survives. David was a member of the Milan Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was a life long farmer and in 1981 started his own business, Suliman Produce. He was very caring and compassionate person who enjoyed sharing meals with those who stopped by. Survivors besides his devoted wife of 36 years include two sons; Brian Suliman, Michael (Carmin) Suliman and one granddaughter Candra Suliman all of Willis. His father Anthony of Willis, mother Rose of Canton, sister Kim (Blane) Rickel of ______, mother-in-law Hattie Bernice Christman of New Boston, as well as two nephews also survive.
Visitation will be held at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home in Milan on Thursday from 3-9pm and on Friday from 2-9pm. Cremation will follow with a memorial service scheduled at a later date. Those desiring may make contributions to the family.
