Hilton, Walter J.
Ypsilanti Township, MI

Age 79, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2005 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, following an extended illness. He was born January 6, 1926 in Castalian Springs, TN, the son of Stokley and Tryphenia (Bradley) Hilton. Walt served honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was an area lifelong farmer. Many Ypsilanti residents knew him as the “Red-headed Milkman” from McCalla Dairy. Survivors include- his loving companion, Joan Kay; three sisters, Mary Sue Bracy, Carrie Raiford and Jane (Frederick) Rasmussen; five brothers, William, Nathan (Roberta), Joseph, Herbert (Betty Jean) and James Hilton; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Polly Robinson and Elizabeth Richter. Visitation will be 3-5 and 6-8-00 P.M. Tuesday December 20 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel. Funeral service and burial will take place in Gallatin, TN.

Jones, Randy B.
Milan, MI

Age 59 died Saturday afternoon, December 10, 2005 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born October 8, 1946 in Detroit, MI to Reginald and Angela (McCabe) Jones. On October 19, 1968 he married Cindy Mamayek in Maybee and she survives. A graduate of M.S.U. in floral design, Randy and Cindy owned and operated Cottage of Milan Floral and Gifts from 1966-1998. He then worked for American Health and Nutrition of Ann Arbor until 2004. He most recently managed Midwest Organic Farmer’s Co-op. Randy was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Saline and the K of C #6674 of Saline. He also was a member of the Monroe Co. 4H, Milan Jaycees, Milan Area Volunteer Fire Dept., past president of the Milan Fair Board, Washtenaw Co. Sportsman’s Club, the Erie Bird Watcher’s Club and was an avid hunter. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors besides his wife Cindy include two daughters; Karen (Darrell) Sheats, Kimmie Sue (Ben) Gilson, grandsons; Douglas, Kevin and David Sheats, twin granddaughters Caroline and Justine Gilson all of Milan. His mother Angela Jones, five brothers; Mike (Brenda), John, Bob (Kathy), Frank (Michele), Matt (Lorene), two sisters; Pamela Jones and Regina “Jeannie” (Jody) Harvell, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his father, a brother Jeff and a granddaughter.
Friends may call at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan on Tuesday and Wednesday from 1-4 and 6-9pm where a rosary will be prayed on Wednesday at 8-00pm.
He will lie in state at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Saline on Thursday from 10-00am until 11-00 with Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11-00am. His cousin Fr. Dan Homan and Fr. Will Stephenson will con-celebrate the Mass. Burial will follow at Michigan Memorial Park, Flat Rock.
Those desiring may make contributions in Randy’s memory to the family, for a scholarship fund designated for his grandchildren he so dearly loved and adored.

Keller, Ruby L. (Stults)
Pittsfield Township, MI

Age 68, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. She was born July 12, 1937 in Russellville, AL, the daughter of Clarence and Methyl (Hovater) Stults. Survivors include- three sons, Larry, Ricky (Cheryl) and Timmy Keller; two daughters Linda Keller and Donna Green; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Junior “J.D.” Russell; two sisters, Edith and Mary Joyce; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Reba Hamilton.
Cremation has taken place. Arrangements by STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel.

McGaffin, Ethel M.
Ypsilanti, MI

Age 93, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2005 in Richland Township, Bucks County, PA, where she had resided for the past five years. She had previously lived with her son, David McGaffin in Hatfield Township, PA. She was born October 12, 1912 in St. Johns, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of the late Robert and Maude (Dobbins) Caulfield. She was a homemaker. Mrs. McGaffin’s husband, David King McGaffin died January 11, 1983. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Ypsilanti. In addition to her son, David, survivors include a grandson, David McGaffin of State College, PA and a granddaughter, Mary Beth (Chris) Robinson of Chalfont, PA. The burial will be 9-30 A.M. Wednesday, December 28 at Highland cemetery and the public is welcome. The memorial service will be 11-00 A.M. Wednesday, December 28 at First Baptist Church, 1110 W. Cross Street, Ypsilanti with Pastor Randy Johnson officiating. Arrangements by STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel.

McQueary, Pauline A.
Van Buren Township, MI

Age 90, died December 29, 2005. Funeral 12 noon Monday, January 2, 2006 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE with Pastor Wesley Rowe of Calvary Bible Church officiating. Visitation 10-00 A.M. until time of service. Burial in Highland cemetery.

Morris, Patrick Quincy
Ypsilanti, MI

Infant son of Alicia Brown, died December 12, 2005. Funeral 11-00 A.M. Thursday, December 15 at St. John Baptist Church, 866 Monroe, Ypsilanti with family hour from 10-00 A.M. until time of service. Burial in United Memorial Gardens. Arrangements- Stark Funeral Service.

Pegouskie, Bruce D.
Belleville, MI

Age 44, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2005 at his residence. He was born April 3, 1961 in Saline, MI, the son of Gerald W. and Janice R. (Zook) Pegouskie. He was a 1979 graduate of Lincoln Consolidated High School. Bruce enjoyed photography, NASCAR, football and deer hunting. Survivors include- his best friend for over 20 years, Patty Elka; mother, Janice Pegouskie; five sisters, Debora (Anthony) Vazquez, Victoria (Michael) Casper, Anita Perrigo, Cynthia (Jeffrey) Burger and Theresa (Aldo Fiorani) Strickland; five nieces and nephews; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald, in 1982. The funeral service will be 1-30 P.M. Monday, December 19 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel. Cremation will follow. Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 12 noon until time of service Monday.

Shifferd, James R. “Jim”
Traverse City, MI
(formerly of Ypsilanti)

Age 84, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 11, 2005 at home with his family by his side. He was born May 11, 1921 in Columbus, OH, the son of John H. and Rosa M. (Welch) Shifferd. Jim served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and was a lifetime member of D.A.V. On August 29, 1942, he married Wanda E. Brown in Alma, MI and she survives. He lived in Ypsilanti most of his life and retired from Chrysler Introl in Ann Arbor in 1980. Jim was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Ypsilanti. He and Wanda moved to Traverse City in 1985 and lived in the Bradenton, FL area during the winter for the past twenty years. Jim played golf and had many wonderful friends across the country. He enjoyed activities with friends but his real passion was being with his family. In addition to his loving wife of 63 years, survivors include- three sons, Phillip (Joan) of South Lyon, John (Connie) of Houston, TX and Richard (Jan) of Williamsburg, MI; seven grandsons; nine great grandchildren; three brothers, Warren Shifferd of Delray Beach, FL, Donald Shifferd of Wayne, MI and Norman Shifferd of Montgomery, AL; one sister, Rosemary Polovino of Westland, MI; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Terry in 1983, one brother, Robert and one sister, Doris Stout. The funeral service will be 1-30 P.M. Thursday, December 15 at First United Methodist Church, 209 Washtenaw, Ypsilanti with Rev. Judith Mayo officiating. Burial will follow in Highland cemetery. Contributions may be made to Munson Health Care Hospice and Palliative Care. Envelopes are available at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel where the family will receive friends 6-9 P.M. Wednesday.

Shugg, Tressie G. (Bloom)
Ypsilanti, MI
April 1920 – January 2006

A kind and generous woman who loved many and whom many loved. Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, Friend and Sweetheart. How can we forget her laughter, sweet smile, beautiful complexion and bright blue eyes! She is dearly loved and will be sorely missed. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held 11-00 A.M. Saturday, January 7, 2006 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel with the family greeting friends from 10-00 A.M until time of service.

Spencer, Cecil D.
Ann Arbor, MI

Age 56, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2006 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He was born March 21, 1949 in Little Rock, AR, the son of Hazel and Lorrine (Clinkscale) Spencer. Cecil worked for the State of MI for many years. Survivors include- his daughter, Elizabeth Hall of Ypsilanti; two grandchildren, KeJuan and Taylor; and several aunts and one uncle. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. The funeral service will be 11-00 A.M. Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 3630 Platt Road, Ann Arbor with Rev. Maurice Gordon, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in United Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-9 P.M. Monday at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel. The family hour will be at the church from 10-00 A.M. until time of service Tuesday.

Stanton, Frank G.
Milan, MI

Age 86 died Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at his home surrounded by his family and his caregiver Liza Humphrey. He was born July 13, 1919 in Detroit to Frank and Kathleen (Heffernan) Stanton. Frank served in the Navy during WWII, was a businessman who owned and operated Ace Motor Trucking Co., and later Scot Shuptrine Furniture Store in Detroit. He also was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Milan and served on the York Twp. Board. Frank loved being at home where he enjoyed his private golf course, flying his plane and being with friends.
Survivors include two daughters; Amy (Dale) Craig of Pinckney and Suzanne (Richard) Williams of Okemos, six grandchildren; Hank, Amy and Matthew (Shelly) Risley, Jason and Frank Stanton and Eric (Stacy) Oliver. Three great grandchildren and his brother Ray (Lou) Stanton of Milan also survive.
His wife Phyllis, son Gerald, granddaughter Michelle, brothers Tommy and Fred and sister Dorothy Caplis preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan today (Thursday) from 5-8pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10-00am Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Milan with the Rite of Burial following in Marble Park cemetery, Milan. Those desiring may make contributions to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

TAUTKUS, ALEXANDER
Port Orange, FL
Formerly of Milan

Age 80 died Saturday, December 24, 2005 in Port Orange, Florida. He was born September 26, 1925 in Detroit to Anthony J. and Francis (Bagdonas) Tautkus. On September 4, 1948 he married Mary Zola and she preceded him in death October 21, 2002. He served in the Army during World War II, retired from General Motors Hydramatic, and was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Milan.
Survivors include a son William of Arlington, VA. and one daughter Rosemary Rendel of Port Orange, FL., five grandchildren; Michele, Michael, Dana, Kevin, and Nichole, six great-grandchildren; Ryan, Meghan, Alexandra, Katherine, Aren and Tabitha. Besides his wife he was preceded in death by two sons, Michael and Paul Tautkus.
Visitation will be held at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan on Wednesday from 4-8pm where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11-00 am with Fr. Bob Pienta officiating. Burial will follow at Marble Park cemetery. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association.

Tomecek, Irene S.
Milan Twp., MI

Age 79 died Wednesday morning December 28, 2005 at home surrounded by her family. She was born January 13, 1926 in Belleville to Anthony and Stephanie (Nowatka) Latocki. Irene had worked for the Willow Run Bomber Plant, then for Wolverine Plastics for many years. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Milan and the ladies Altar Society where she generously donated her time and talents. She was an active member of the Monroe County 4H Club where she taught sewing, cooking and assisted her husband Clyde with the horses. Irene also was a member of the Sullivan Center in London Township where she enjoyed being with her friends.
She is survived by a son Gerald (Lynette) Bordine of Maybee, three daughters; Diane Kiley of Milan, Linda (Melvin) Edmundson of Ypsilanti and Marjorie (Bill) Siefker of Milan, a step-son Joseph (Arden) Tomecek of Milan, 14 grandchildren, 15 great- grandchildren and a brother Joseph Latocki of Saline. She was preceded in death by her first husband Clyde Bordine in August of 1964, second husband John Tomecek in August of 1993 and two brothers Anthony and Eugene Latocki.
Friends may call at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan on Friday from 2-9pm. Funeral prayers will begin 10-00am Saturday at the funeral home with procession to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 10-30am. The rite of burial will follow in Marble Park cemetery, Milan.
