Cooper, Annabella S.
Milan, MI

Age 82 died April 9, 2006 at Saline Evangelical Home. She was born June 6, 1923 in Union Springs, AL to Robert and Elizabeth (Turner) Cargill. On December 11, 1948 she married Benjamin H. Cooper, Jr. in Inkster and he survives.
Mrs. Cooper was a National Evangelist of the Apostolic Assemblies under the presiding Bishop G.M. Boone of Christ Foreign Mission Ministry and a member of the Bethlehem Temple Church of Milan.
Survivors in addition to her husband include three sons Joma Kenyetta of CA, Benjamin H. Cooper III of Westland, Glenn Cooper of Milan, four daughters Jacqueline Reed of Ann Arbor, Pamela J. Cooper of CA, Deborah Young of KY, Cassandra Cooper of TX, 13 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, James, William and Cleveland and one sister Louise Garrison.
A Family hour will be held from 11-00am to Noon on Saturday April 15, 2006 at the Cathedral of Deliverance of the Apostolic Faith in Ypsilanti where funeral services will begin at noon. Burial will follow in London cemetery, London Twp. Friends may call at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8pm. Those desiring may make contribution to the family.

Geyer, Randolph J. “Randy”
Ypsilanti, MI

Age 44, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, April 8, 2006 Survivors include- his mother, Arlene Geyer; two sons, Alexander and Zackery Geyer; two sisters, Terri Kodrick and Nona Geyer; four brothers, Samuel, Mark, Peter and David Geyer; and a host of other relatives. He was preceded in death by his twin sister, Veronica “Ronnie” Laureano. The funeral service will be 7-00 P.M. Tuesday, April 11 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel. Cremation will follow. Visitation will be 5-7 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Hargrove, Margaret
Milan, MI

Age 79, passed away Friday, April 7, 2006 at Bortz Health Care of Ypsilanti. She was born January 31, 1927 in Union City, TN, the daughter of Richard and Maggie (Henderson) Macklin. In March of 1950, she married Elijah Hargrove and he preceded her in death January 30, 2001. She had been a member of Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church in Whittaker for over 40 years. She had been employed by the UM Hospital for over ten years and later worked briefly at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. Survivors include - seven daughters, Doris Lackley, Marcia Hargrove, Cheryl (Lawrence) Addison, Pam Hargrove, Debra Hargrove, Marilyn Tilley and Donna Hargrove; three sons, Richard Lackley, Kenneth (Emma) Hargrove and Wayne Hargrove; 22 grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Hargrove and Jeanette Woods; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four sons, Louis, Charles, Frederick and Michael and six brothers and sisters. The funeral service will be 11-00 A.M. Friday, April 14 at Christian Tabernacle Baptist Church, 983 E. Michigan, Ypsilanti with Rev. Larry D. Davis officiating. Burial will follow in United Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 5-9 P.M. Thursday at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel. The family hour will be at the church from 10-00 A.M. until time of service Friday.

Horn Sr., Richard W. “Dick”
Ypsilanti, MI

Age 61, unexpectedly passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He was born March 17, 1945 in Ypsilanti, the son of Edward W. and Louise E. (Lidke) Horn. On March 28, 1963, he married Linda McCune in Ypsilanti and she survives. Mr. Horn served honorably in the U.S. Army. He was retired from Ford Motor Company, Ypsilanti plant. Mr. Horn was also a constable with Washtenaw County in the early 1970s. He loved to camp, especially with his grandchildren. In addition to his loving wife of 43 years, survivors include- two sons, Richie II and Charles Horn; three grandchildren, Brandon, Michelle and Kaylie Horn; two sisters, Patricia (Robert) Fish and Bonnie (Robert) Hagar; one brother, Robert (Christine) Horn; one aunt, Helen Lidke; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, George, Glenn, Ray, Harold and James Horn. The funeral service will be 2-00 P.M. Saturday, April 29, 2006 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bob Ray of Ypsilanti Pentecostal Church of God Church officiating. Burial will follow in Highland cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 5-9 P.M. Friday.

Kelsey, Floyd B.
Ann Arbor, MI

Age 72 died Monday April 10, 2006 at his son’s home in Indiana where he was residing since his illness. He was born December 27, 1933 in Hudson, MI to Harry and Irene (Wilsey) Kelsey. Floyd served in the U.S. Marine Corp. and retired from Tecumseh Products in 1997. He also was a member of the American Legion in Columbus, Georgia.
He is survived by his son Joseph (Monica) Kelsey of Woodburn, Indiana, a daughter Michele (Todd) Wurster of Toledo, Ohio, three grandchildren; Alexis Kelsey, J.J. Steinmetz, and Taylor Wurster, two sisters Harriet and Charlotte.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. Funeral services will be held 11-00am Thursday at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home with Pastor Gordon Moore officiating. Burial and military rites will follow at Washtenong Memorial Park, Ann Arbor. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-8pm and on Thursday from 10-00am until time of service. Lau, Charles
Ypsilanti, MI

Age 63, passed away Monday, April 17, 2006. He was born March 19, 1943 in Ypsilanti, the son of George and Elizabeth (Minehard) Lau. Survivors include- two daughters, Dawn (Dean) Kirby of Cadillac and Regina Lau of KY; and three grandchildren, Olivia, Joshua and Jacob. He was preceded in death by his parents. The funeral service will be 2-00 P.M. Saturday, April 22, 2006 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel with Pastor Gordon Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Highland cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-9 P.M. Thursday and 6-9 P.M. Friday.

McKinney, Calvin C.
Ypsilanti, MI

Age 70, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, April 16, 2006 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He was born May 23, 1935 in Livingston County, KY, the son of Clarence and Benny (Tipps) McKinney. On April 15, 1967, he married Pearl Thacker in Ypsilanti and she survives. Calvin was a retiree from Ford Motor Company and was a resident of Ypsilanti for over 50 years. He was of Free Will Baptist faith and attended Belleville Free Will Baptist Church. Calvin’s hobbies included carpentry, reading and traveling. In addition to his loving wife Pearl of 39 years, he is survived by one son, C. David (Carla) McKinney, one granddaughter, Kenicia and one grandson, Sean McKinney, all of Oregon, WI. Calvin was preceded in death by two sisters, Sue Pearson and Rachel Smith and two brothers, Elvis and Donnie McKinney. Visitation will be 2-10 P.M. today at the Belleville Free Will Baptist Church, 750 E. Huron River Drive, Belleville with a service at 7-00 P.M. tonight with Revs. Walker Harris and Ollie Lafferty co-officiating. Burial will be Thursday, April 20 in the Mountain View Gardens cemetery in Huddy, KY. Contributions in Calvin’s memory may be made to either the American Heart and Lung Association or the Humane Society. Arrangements by STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel.

McNaughton, Richard M.
Ypsilanti, MI

Age 90, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at Gilbert Residence. He was born February 20, 1916 in Lowell, MI, the son of Earl and Maude (Andrews) McNaughton. On January 31, 1941, he married Maxine Hill in Lowell and she preceded him in death August 17, 2005. Mac worked for Kaiser Frasier, then for Ford Motor Company as a millwright, where he retired from the Ypsilanti plant in 1977. He was a 60-year member of the Ypsilanti Eagles, Aerie #2250 and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ypsilanti. Survivors include- one son, Earl (Betty) McNaughton of Ypsilanti; three grandchildren, Dale, Allen and Christa; and three great grandchildren, Samantha, John and Logan. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Cremation has taken place. The memorial service will be 4-00 P.M. Friday, April 21, 2006 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel with Rev. Pamela Kail officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3-00 P.M. until time of service Friday.

Mitchell, Gregg Arthur
Ypsilanti, MI

Age 51, passed away Monday, April 3, 2006. He was born September 19, 1954 in Royal Oak, MI, the son of Donald and Vivian (Black) Mitchell. Gregg attended EMU and was two credits shy of an accounting degree. He began employment at Tom’s Party Store in Ypsilanti, working there for almost ten years, where he began his interest in the beer and wine industry. He then progressed through the ranks of Rave Associates, Beer and Wine Wholesale Distribution, eventually purchasing the company in the early 1990s. He retired in 2004. He recently purchased the Pickle Barrel in Willis, MI. Survivors include- his parents; wife, Karren; two daughters, Kayla Marie and Kelli Lee; two stepsons, Christopher William Skinner and Zachary George Skinner; stepdaughter, Sloane Elizabeth Skinner; one sister, Pamela (Phil) VonSeggern; one brother, Dale (Lauren) Mitchell; and Tonya Travis, his first wife. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements by STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel.

Patterson, Alice L. Hinton
Ypsilanti, MI

Age 84, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, April 6, 2006 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. She was born January 20, 1922 in Vicksburg, MS, the daughter of Archie and Alberta (White) Hawkins. Alice moved from MS to Ypsilanti on May 10, 1967. In 1974, she married her dear “Pat, ” Sylvester Patterson. She became a member of New Hope Baptist Church in 1975 and was a member of the Progressive Choir, Missionary Society and Mother’s Board. She was employed by the University of Michigan and retired in 1982. She leaves to cherish her memory- her children, Mary Reed of Ypsilanti, Doris Palmer of Memphis, TN, Dolly Hinton-James of Ypsilanti and James Earl (Natalie) Hinton of Ypsilanti; two stepchildren, Tommy (Erma) Hinton and Barbara Patterson, both of Ypsilanti; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Archie Hawkins Jr. and Fred Hawkins and two children, Erma Jean Johnson and Otis Ray Hinton. The funeral service will be 11-00 A.M. Thursday, April 13 at New Hope Baptist Church, 218 Chapin, Ann Arbor with Rev. Dr. Albert Lightfoot officiating. Burial will follow in United Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-9 P.M. Wednesday at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel with the family hour from 7-8 P.M. There will also be a family hour from 10-00 A.M. until time of service Thursday at the church.

Pelphrey, Ann
Brooklyn, MI
(formerly of Ypsilanti)

Age 53, passed away Friday, April 14, 2006 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. She was born May 7, 1952 in Detroit, the daughter of Louis and Nannie (Wilson) Bogy. On March 15, 1980, she married Allen Pelphrey in Ypsilanti and he survives. Ann was a former member of Antioch Baptist Church and worked at Ford Motor Company, Ypsilanti plant for 24 years. She loved to participate in many school functions with her son Brandon and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to her loving husband of 26 years, survivors include- one daughter, Lindsay (Mark) Rundles of Canton; one son, Brandon at home; two grandchildren, James and Kylie; two sisters, Kay (Dale) Hauk of FL and Sue (Robert) Whalen of Manchester; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Pam Lambert. The funeral service will be 11-00 A.M. Monday, April 17 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel with Rev. Wayne Jacobs of Stony Creek Free Will Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Washtenong Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-9 P.M. Saturday and 6-9 P.M. Sunday.

Schattenhelm, Hope Werner
Milan, MI formerly of Warren, MI
Age 81 died April 15, 2006 at Mt. Clemens General Hospital. She was born March 30, 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri to Harry and Mathilde Baker. On May 23, 1946 she married Ernst Werner in St. Louis and he preceded her in death on May 25, 1980. Hope received her RN degree from Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis in 1946 and her Bachelor of Science degree in social work from University of Detoit in 1974. She retired from Macomb County General Hospital where she was head nurse for postpartum in 1987. On April 3, 1987 she married Myron Schattenhelm at Greenfield Village in Dearborn, MI and he survives. Survivors also include two sons; Kurt (Mary)Werner of Helena, MT, David Werner of New Baltimore, MI a daughter Leslie (Robert) Soliz of Victoria, TX, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren. Hope was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Milan where she sang in choir, a volunteer at Aid in Milan for 15 years, a charter member of the Dulcimer Players Club in Evart, MI and a longtime member of the National Threshers Association. Visitation will be held Tuesday at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan, MI 2-4 & 7-9pm where a rosary will be recited at 7-30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Milan 10-00am Wednesday. Additional visitation will take place at Gendernalik Funeral Home, New Baltimore on Wednesday from 4-9pm. with funeral prayers beginning at 11-00am Thursday. Burial will follow in Resurrection cemetery, Clinton Twp, MI. Those desiring may make contributions to Aid in Milan, Second Harvest, or National Wildlife Foundation.
