Age 84, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at home with her loving family by her side. She was born June 18, 1921 in Fullerton, ND, the daughter of Edward and Velma (Cox) Erickson. On July 12, 1942, she married Melvin R. Johnson in Wadena, MN and he survives. June was a member of Faith Lutheran Church for over 40 years, where she was active in the Women’s Guild. While raising a good family, June was an excellent cook and enjoyed sewing. In addition to her loving husband of 63 years, survivors include- one son, Ronald (Christine) Johnson of Jackson; two daughters, Corinne Johnson of Ypsilanti and Janette (Frederick) Beiderbecke of Sacramento, CA; five grandchildren, Tony, Amie and Michael Johnson and Geoffrey and Vincent Beiderbecke; three brothers, Noel, Alfie and Earl Erickson; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Stanley and Manley Erickson and one sister, Vergie Peters. The funeral service will be 11-00 A.M. Saturday, May 27 at Faith Lutheran Church, 1255 E. Forest Avenue, Ypsilanti with Pastor Paul O. Richert officiating. Burial will follow in Knollwood Memorial Park. Contributions may be made in Mrs. Johnson’s memory to Faith Lutheran Church. Jordan, John H.
Ypsilanti, MI

Age 76, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2006 at his home with his family at his side. He was born January 28, 1930 in Luttrell, TN, the son of John A. and Arie (Hurst) Jordan. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1948-1955. On March 26, 1951, he married Alice A. Hylkema in San Bernadino, CA and she survives. He was employed by General Motors, Willow Run plant, retiring after 40 years. He attended North Prospect Baptist Church. Mr. Jordan was a member of the Ypsilanti Phoenix #13 Lodge. In addition to his loving wife of 55 years, survivors include- three children, Janice (Michael) Riggs of Ypsilanti, Arthur (Donna) Jordan of Saline and Renee Jordan of Ann Arbor; grandchildren, Kimberly Cook, Kristine Brown, Shane Cox, Heather Riggs, Jon Riggs, Matthew Jordan, Christopher Jordan, Holly Jordan and Austin Jordan; four great grandchildren; two sisters and one brother, Pauline Hughes, Roger Jordan and Margaret Jordan; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Phillip Jordan in 2003; three brothers, Fred, Ralph and Clyde; three sisters, Ethel, Minnie Lou and Bobbi; and his parents. The funeral service will be 11-00 A.M. Thursday, May 18 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel with Rev. Beddingfield officiating. Burial will follow in Highland cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 2-4 & 6-9 P.M. Wednesday with a Masonic service at 6-00 P.M.

Lee Jr., Clifton
Ypsilanti, MI

Age 45, departed this life June 1, 2006 in Ypsilanti. He was born January 23, 1961 in Ann Arbor, MI. He attended Van Buren and Ypsilanti Public Schools. Survivors include- his parents, Beatrice (Kearney) Lee-Mckeown and Clifton Lee Sr.; eight siblings; four children; and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be 11-00 A.M. Friday, June 9 at Messias Temple Church, 200 Harriet Street, Ypsilanti where the family hour will begin at 10-00 A.M. Burial will follow in United Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-9 P.M. Thursday at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel. Donations to help with funeral expenses are being accepted at all Citizens Bank branch offices through the Clifton Lee Jr. Memorial Fund.

McConeghy, Ross Gail
Beverly Hills, FL., Formerly of Milan

Age 66, died unexpectedly May 30, 2006. He was born August 9, 1939 in Reading, MI to Maxwell and Babe (Bowman) McConeghy who both preceded him in death.
On February 8, 1958 he married Sharon Hanson and she survives.
Survivors also include five children; Carrilou Kaufman of Glendale, Arizona, Steven Ross of Milan, Lisa (Kirk) Straub of Milan, Scott (Tish) of Ypsilanti, and Sean of Saline, 12 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, brother Gary (Janet) McConeghy of De Kalb, Illinois, sister Marcia (Gerald) Bolog of Milan, and several nieces and nephews.
Gail (Ross) retired as an engineer from Ford Motor Company Milan Plant in 1996 after 25 years of service. He served in the Air Force, was a volunteer for the Milan Area Fire Department, a member of the American Legion Post #268 of Milan, Loyal Order of the Milan Moose, an avid bowler, and a youth bowling instructor in Florida.
Visitation will be held at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan today (Thurs) from 2-4 and 6-9pm. where the funeral will be Friday at 11-00am. with Rev. Gordon Moore officiating. Military rites and burial will follow in Marble Park cemetery, Milan. Those desiring may make contributions to American Cancer Society.

Meeks, Curtis W.
Superior Township, MI

Age 52, passed away Monday, May 22, 2006 at the University of MI Hospital. He was born December 29, 1953 in Staten Island, NY, to Joseph and Virginia (Meeks) Huffman. Curtis worked for the University of Michigan for 26 years and he loved to fish. Survivors include- three sons, Curtis, Maurice and Eric, all of Ypsilanti; three grandchildren, Tianna, Errick and Ykilyah; his mother, Virginia Hargrove of Ypsilanti; four sisters, Anita Hargrove of Ypsilanti, Towana (Chris) Koger of TN, Sabrina (Alex) Brown of FL and Andrea Hargrove of Ypsilanti; two brothers, Gerald Hargrove of Ypsilanti and Rodney (Connie) Hargrove of FL; the love of his life, Rosaline Meeks; two special aunts Phyllis Evans of Romulus and Betty Ellis of FL; his great aunt, Alma Witcher of NY; four special cousins, Gladys, Bonita, Tonia and Chrissy; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, L.L. Hargrove and one brother, Eric Lee Hargrove Sr. The funeral service will be 11-00 A.M. Tuesday, May 30 at Christian Love Fellowship, 1601 Stamford, Ypsilanti with Apostle Robert Hill officiating. Burial will follow in United Memorial Gardens. Contributions may be made in Curtis’ memory to the American Diabetes Association. Envelopes are available at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel where visitation will be 6-9 P.M. Monday with the family hour from 7-8 P.M..

Metzger, Pauline (Dickson)
Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor, MI

Age 93, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2006. She was born June 8, 1912, in Seneca County, OH, the daughter of Merritt and Lavinia (Johnson) Good. Pauline was the beloved wife of the late William Randall Dickson and then, D.B. Metzger. She was a dedicated registered nurse, working for both the UM Hospital and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital and in later years, at Whitehall Convalescent Center. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ann Arbor and of Ypsilanti. She received the Presbyterian Women U.S.A.s Lifetime Honorary Membership Award. Pauline was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. Survivors include- two daughters. Alice (Dave) Pearson of TX and Randee (Christopher) York of Ypsilanti; stepson, Donald (Gail) Metzger of NH; one sister, Lois Stoehr of FL; proud grandmother of David (Laura) Pearson, Daniel (Rose) Pearson, Sarah (Damon) Gilless, Matthew Pearson and Debra (Derrick) Roberts; eight great grandchildren, Cody, Daniel, Cade, David, Brittany, Brett, Elijah and William and one great granddaughter due in October; and several nieces and one nephew. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Phyllis Moorhead. The funeral service will be 11-00 A.M. Friday, May 26 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Highland cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 2-4 & 6-9 P.M. Thursday.

Miller, Elnora Ruth (Busman)
Ypsilanti, MI

Age 91, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2006. She was born January 1, 1915, in Coopersville, MI, the daughter of Geert and Jennie (Sietsema) Busman. Elnora attended Coopersville High School and MI State Normal College (EMU). In 1934, she married Frank L. Miller, who passed away in 1981. She was an accountant at EMU for many years until she retired in 1978. After retirement, Elnora worked as a volunteer at Beyer Hospital and served a total of 10, 500 hours. She also was active in the Ypsilanti chapter of the Eastern Star, where she served as secretary and also as Past Matron of Chapter #119. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ypsilanti for many years. At the time of her death, Elnora was residing at the Gilbert Residence. She is survived by two nephews, Alfred and Donald Congdon and many grand-nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be 11-00 A.M. Saturday, May 20 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel with Rev. Keith Geiselman of First Presbyterian Church of Ypsilanti officiating. Burial will follow in Highland cemetery. Contributions in Elnora’s memory may be made to the Eastern Star. Envelopes are available at the funeral home where the family will greet friends 6-9 P.M. Friday and an Eastern Star service will be held at 7-00 P.M.

Morton, Ardella
Ypsilanti, MI

Age 90, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at home. She was born December 17, 1915, in Tchula, MS, the daughter of Davie and Rebecca (Williams) Brooks. On June 4, 1943, she married Saul Smith in MS; she then married Robert Morton on March 19, 1983, and they both preceded her in death. Ardella was a member of Second Baptist Church of Ypsilanti where she was a member of the Senior Choir and the Missionary Society. She worked as a cook at the University of MI for 15 years, retiring in 1988. Survivors include- three stepsons, R.D. (Lavert) Jones of OH, Robert (Minnie) Morton of Lansing and Clarence (Ruth) Morton of Ann Arbor; three stepdaughters, Ella (Bob) Hurst of Ann Arbor, Faye (John) Woods of OH and Florida M. Andrews of Ann Arbor; one nephew, James (Barbara) Hampton of Ypsilanti; and a host of step grandchildren, great-nieces and nephews and other family members and friends. In addition to her two husbands, she was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. The funeral service will be 11-00 A.M. Monday, May 22 at Second Baptist Church, 301 S. Hamilton, Ypsilanti with Rev. James Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in United Memorial Gardens. Contributions in Ardella’s memory may be made to the Second Baptist Church “Together We Build” Fund. Envelopes are available at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel where visitation will be 1-9 P.M. Sunday with the family hour from 7-9 P.M. There will also be visitation at the church from 10-00 A.M. until time of service Monday.

Perez, Gregory
Milan, MI

Age 92 died May 18, 2006 at Arbor Hospice Residence with his loving family by his side. He was born November 17, 1913 in Seguin, Texas to Pedro and Irene (Paiz) Perez. On July 3, 1948 he married Telesfora Origel and she preceded him in death on January 10, 1993. After serving in the Army during WWII, Greg worked for U of M, retiring in 1979. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Milan and the V.F.W.
Survivors include two sons, Enrique “Henry” (Olivia) of Lansing, Andrew (Cindy) of Whitmore Lake, a daughter Herlinda Bies of Monroe, two grandchildren Monica and Dominic “Nick” Bies, four brothers Antonio, Ernesto, Hilario and Ricardo Perez all of Flint, and one sister Emma Campos of San Antonio Texas. Besides his wife he was preceded in death by four brothers Jose, Jesus, Paul and Juan, two sisters Emma Sosa and Mary Perez.
Visitation will be held at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan on Sunday from 3-8pm where a rosary will be recited at 7-00pm. The funeral liturgy will begin at the funeral home on 10-00am Monday with procession to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for Mass of Christian Burial beginning 10-30am. Fr. Bob Pienta and Fr. Victor Clore will concelebrate. Burial will follow at Maple Grove cemetery, Dundee. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Arbor Hospice. Online condolences may be sent

Richardson, Marie R.
Ypsilanti, MI

Age 80, passed away Friday, June 2, 2006. She was born February 28, 1926 in Jamaica, NY, to Christopher and Marie (Hippard) Cummings, both preceded her in death. She retired from the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Pharmacy. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Survivors include- one son, Nelson Richardson of Ypsilanti; three granddaughters, Cindy (Kenny) Nathan, Monique and Sondra Richardson, all of Ypsilanti; three great grandchildren, Georgio Williams, Alexis Cranford and Antonio Scott, all of Ypsilanti; two sisters; one brother; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Sr. and one son, Alexander Jr. “Rocky.” The funeral service will be 11-00 A.M. Tuesday, June 6 at Second Baptist Church, 301 S. Hamilton, Ypsilanti with Rev. James Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in Alban cemetery. Visitation will be 1-8 P.M. Monday at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel. The family hour will be from 10-00 A.M. until time of service Tuesday at the church.

Salisbury, Billy Jo
Ypsilanti, MI

Age 56, died Wednesday, May 24, 2006. He was born November 25, 1949 in Ypsilanti, the son of Oscar and Cynthia (Joseph)Salisbury. He was known and loved by many. Survivors include- three children, Angela, Billy and B.J.; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Betty, Jackie and Reesa; two brothers, Jerry and David; and a host of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be 6-00 P.M. Wednesday, May 31 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE where the family will greet friends from 5-00 P.M. until time of service. Cremation will follow.

Steinman, Elmer
Milan, MI

Age 78, died May 25, 2006 at his home. He was born September 12, 1927 in Raisin Twp. MI to Henry and Bernice (Sorter) Steinman. He served in the United States Navy during WWII aboard the USS Iowa and the USS Cabilldo, “plank owner”. On December 18, 1947 he married Lila Norton, and she preceded him in death in June of 1999. He retired from Ford Motor Company as a tool and die maker after many years of service.
Survivors include, two son; Guy Steinman of Milan, Thomas (Debra) Steinman of Lake Elmo, MN., six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, one grand daughter; Dana Steinman, one brother; Leo Steinman, one sister; Agnes Kilpatrick.
At Elmer’s request cremation has taken place, and their will be no services. Arrangements are entrusted to Ochalek- Stark Funeral Home, Milan.

Sweet, Gerald D.
Milan Twp.

Age 77, died Saturday May 20, 2006 at his home with his family by his side. He was born April 12, 1929 in Milan to Lloyd and Grace (Robbins) Sweet. On February 2, 1946 he married Virginia Partlo and she preceded him in death on October 4, 1984. Mr. Sweet was employed by Emmett Bissell in Milan for over nine years then worked for the Carpenters Union Local 512 in Ann Arbor from 1965 until his retirement in 1992. Gerald loved to garden, raise flowers, watch and feed the birds, and travel. Above all he loved his family the most.
Mr. Sweet is survived by his daughter Dianna Shimmel of Prescott, MI, son Rick Sweet of Milan, four grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, sister Cora Webber of Thompsonville, and brother Lloyd (Betty) Sweet of Willis. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son Roger, brothers Carl, Vernon, and Jerry Sweet, and sisters Violet Scherdt, Jaunita Gunether, June Boone, Marie Layton, and Marlene Ellis.
Visitation will be held at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan tonight from 6-9pm and Tuesday from 12 noon-9pm. Funeral services will be held 1-00pm Wednesday at the Milan Baptist Church with Pastor Blake Hunt officiating. Burial will follow at Marble Park cemetery. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Oncology Dept.
