Shankle, John Thomas
Ann Arbor, MI

Age 72, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2007 following an extended illness. He was born January 3, 1935 in Decatur, AL, the son of Barney K. and Lula M. (Hayes) Shankle. On March 5, 1954, he married Mildred Davis in Iuka, MS and she survives. He worked for Ford Motor Company for ten years, then he owned and operated Shankle Motor Sales in Ypsilanti for over forty years. He was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Ypsilanti. John was an avid musician, composer and vocalist. He was instrumental in promoting national talent for local venues for the likes of Merle Haggard, Barbara Mandrell, Gordon Terry and many more. After finding Christ, he shared his musical talents with the church. In addition to his loving wife of 53 years, survivors include - two daughters, Olivia (Ric) Bentley and Renee (Nick) Kelley; three grandchildren, Steve (Amanda) Clark, Stephanie Clark and Don Bingham; three great grandchildren, Joseph, Emma and Abigail Clark; three brothers, Wendell, Rudy (Nettie) and Duel Shankle; four sisters, Delores (John) Petty, Lois (Gerald) Haeussler, Debra (Robert) Little and Melissa (Jim) Kirby; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Allen and Clyde and one grandson, Dustin Bingham. The visitation will be 2-4 & 6-9 pm Thursday at Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be 11 -00 am Friday, November 3, 2007 at First Free Will Baptist Church, 1244 Holmes Road, Ypsilanti. Burial will follow in North Hamburg cemetery.

Stanley, Lonzo
Belleville, MI
(formerly of Pikeville, KY)

Age 57, passed away Friday, October 26, 2007 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He was born April 2, 1950 in Pikeville, KY, the son of Roy and Alice (Thacker) Stanley. Survivors include- his sisters, Doreen (Charles) Varney and Clarene (Bob) Milczarski; one nephew, John Dotson; and one great nephew, Harold Dotson. Visitation will be 6-9 pm Saturday, October 27, 2007 at Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be held at Rogers Funeral Home in Belfry, KY and burial will be in Stanley cemetery in Pikeville, KY.

Straub, Kenneth
Age 93, died Friday, November 02, 2007 at Arbor Hospice surrounded by his loving family. He was born in 1914 in Milan to Edward and Rose Straub. On February 5, 1947 he married Myrtle Bolz in Taylor, MI and she survives. Ken was a retired contractor - builder and a member of Christ Our King Church Lutheran in Saline. Survivors besides his wife Myrtle include a son Rev. Roger (Karin) Straub of Lansing, a daughter Sharon (Adam) Snyder of Milan, a grandson Brandon Straub, granddaughter Briana (Jay) Meyers and their daughter Brookelynn, and step grandchildren Allen and Aerial Dale. He was preceded in death by two brothers Edward and Albert and a sister Edna. Visitation will be held at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan on Monday from 2-5 and 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held 11-00am. Tuesday at Christ Our King Lutheran Church in Saline with Rev. Tom Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in Marble Park cemetery, Milan. Straub, Kenneth H.
Milan, MI

Age 93, died Friday, November 02, 2007 at Arbor Hospice surrounded by his loving family. He was born in 1914 in Milan to Edward and Rose Straub. Towler, Earl "Brose"
Ypsilanti Township, MI

Age 70, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2007. He was born January 26, 1937 in Ann Arbor, the son of Ira and Weltha (Fuller) Towler Sr. On May 20, 1966, he married Barbara Mann in Ypsilanti and she survives. Also surviving are- two sons, John David Towler and Scott Michael Snyder; two daughters, Lisa Dawn Towler and Holly JoAnn (Al Herrst) Towler; six grandchildren, John Snyder, Scott Snyder Jr., Ashlee Torres, Scott Towler, Steven Towler and Trisha Torres; two brothers, Ora (Helen) Towler and James Towler Sr.; one sister, JoAnn Barenscheer; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Kevin John Towler, three brothers and two sisters. Memorial contributions to the family would be appreciated. Envelopes are available at Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel where visitation will be 2-4 & 6-9 pm Tuesday, October 30, 2007. Age 56, passed away October 15, 2007 at home with her loving family at her side. She was born November 29, 1950 in Paintsville, KY, to Malcomb and Mary (Goble) Ward. Survivors include- her caretakers, Stephen and Donna Kimble; two brothers, Robert (Sally) Cyphers and Larry (Kathy) Ward; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two nieces. The funeral service will be 2-00 pm Thursday, October 18 at Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel with Rev. Walker Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Denton cemetery. The visitation will be 6-9 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
Weller, Jo Ellen- ~Jody~
Weller, Jo Ellen "Jody" Milan, Michigan Age 59 died Friday, November 02, 2007 at home. She was born June 10, 1948 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Joseph and Jean (Swift) Workman, On October 19, 1968 she married Earl G. Weller in College Park, MD and he survives. She is also survived by her father Joseph of Terrell, Texas, a son Christopher E. Weller of Milan and daughter Wendy A. (Larry, Jr.) Read of Blissfield. She was preceded in death by her mother. Jody was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Ann Arbor and worked for the VA Hospital until retiring in 2001. Visitation will be held at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan on Sunday from 3-6pm where funeral services will be held 11-00am. Monday. Private burial will follow in Marble Park cemetery.

White, James E.
Ypsilanti, MI

Age 61, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2007 at the Heartland Nursing Center in Allen Park. He was born June 15, 1946 in Ypsilanti, MI, the son of Guy J. and Flora (McCollum) White. Survivors include - two brothers, Leniol (Doris) White of Fowlerville and John (Linda) White of Taylor; one sister L'Rita (Gene) Albright of Ypsilanti; his very special friend, Gregg S. Andrews of Ypsilanti his aunt, Priscilla "Pearl" Howard of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Tom and David. Cremation has taken place. The memorial service will be 11 -00 am Saturday, October 27, 2007 at Victorious Life Church of God 1405 Sweet Road, Ypsilanti with Pastor Larry Anderson officiating. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Victorious Life Church of God Food Ministry. Envelopes are available at the church where the family will greet friends from 10 am until time of service Saturday. Arrangements handled by Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel.

Arnold, Jesse Junior
Ypsilanti, MI
Age 82, passed away Monday, June 16, 2008 at home. He was born May 2, 1926 in Huntland, TN, the son of Albert and Annie Pearl (Grammer) Arnold. Jesse served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On June 22, 1946, he married Jewel Walker in Huntsville, AL and she preceded him in death March 26, 2001. Jesse was self-employed as an antique dealer and he loved to fish. Survivors include- one daughter, Kaye (Brian) Ewalt of Brooklyn, MI; one son, Larry (Carol) Arnold of Belleville; six grandchildren, Rhonda (Michael) Smith, Ronnie (Kim) Arnold, Larry (Jennifer) Arnold, David (Jennifer) Arnold, Robin (Ewalt) Heiler and Abbey Ewalt; seven great grandchildren, Shelby, Zack, Travis, Olivia, Hannah, Sarah and Taylor; one sister, Ozell of TN; close family friend, Dorothy Bunck; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and five brothers. The funeral service will be 11-00 am Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Jeanne Housmann officiating. Cremation will follow. Brashaw, Jacob Matthew

Infant son of Cotton and Angela (Ferguson) Brashaw died Saturday, June 28, 2008 at Mott Children's Hospital. He was born June 8, 2008. In addition to his parents, survivors include- maternal grandparents, Earl and Shelly VanValkenburg; paternal grandmother, Kathy (Ray) Douglas; paternal grandfather, Cotton Brashaw, Sr.; two aunts, Rebecca (James) McQueen and Jennifer Brashaw; and two cousins. The funeral service will be 11-00 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel. Burial will take place at Cotton cemetery in Alabama. Contributions in his memory may be made to Mott Children's Hospital. Envelopes are available at the funeral home where the family will receive friends 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday.

Bullock, Brenda Sue
Ypsilanti, MI
Age 51, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2008. She was born May 9, 1957 in San Francisco, CA. She came to the Ypsilanti area in 1972 and graduated from Ypsilanti High School in 1975. Survivors include- her parents, Betty and Gene Buczek; one daughter, Christy Ann Bullock; two grandchildren, her pride and joy, Chase Michael and Maddelynne Olivia; two brothers, Michael and Richard Buczek; one sister, Vicki (Ron) Montgomery; two nieces, Erica and Chelsea and one nephew, Ryan; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. The funeral mass will be 11-00 am Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at Transfiguration Catholic Church, 1301 S. Harris Road, Ypsilanti. Cremation will follow. The family will receive friends at Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel 2-4 & 6-9 pm Tuesday and at the church from 10-00 am until time of mass Wednesday.

Davis, Ruth (Fox)
Belleville, MI
Age 87, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2008 in Columbia, SC. She was born May 21, 1921 in Toledo, OH, to Wilson and Mae (daily) Fox. On October 24, 1942 she married Carl E. Davis in Toledo, and he preceded her in death on June 6, 1960. Survivors include- two sons, Craig W. Davis and Terry E. Davis; granddaughters, Theresa, Julie and Jennifer Davis; grandson Jonathan Davis; great-grandchildren Lindsay and Liam. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, a sister and one grandson. Mrs. Davis graduated from the University of Toledo in 1943 and from the University of Michigan in 1947 with a Library Science Degree. She worked for the Romulus Community Schools as a high school librarian for 30 years. In retirement she served as a volunteer in the Gerald Ford Presidential Library in Ann Arbor. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, and a lifetime member of the University of Michigan Alumni Society. She was also a member of the U of M School of Information Alumni Society, the Belleville Chapter #73 Order of Eastern Star, the Golden Hour Club (city of Wayne), Past President's Club of the Belleville BPW, the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel, and the AARP. The funeral service will be 2-00 pm Monday, June 23, 2008 at Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel with Rev. David McKinstry officiating. Burial will follow in Washtenong Memorial Park. Contributions in her memory may be made to Faith United Methodist Church or the charity of Choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home where the family will receive friends after 12-30 pm Monday.

Duede, Crystal Virginiarose
Ypsilanti, MI
Age 81, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008 peacefully at home with her family by her side. Crystal was born September 8, 1926 in Ypsilanti, the daughter of the late Milo and Margaret (Brown) Ballard. On December 21, 1963, she married Ralph E. Duede. Crystal had been a resident of Ypsilanti all of her life and prior to her illness, was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Belleville. Crystal was an LPN and retired from the Ypsilanti State Psychiatric Hospital in 1965. She was an artist and loved all media. She also made and was an avid collector of dolls, enjoyed beadwork crochet, sewing, jewelry-making and spending time with her friends and family. Survivors include- her husband, Ralph; daughter, Faith (Robert Hubbard) Duede; step-grandson, Adam Hubbard of Ocean Springs, MS; one sister, Barbara Havens of McBain; one brother, Jesse (Diane) Ballard of Washington; and many very dear nieces and nephews, as well as her husband's family. The funeral service will be 1-30 pm Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel with Pastor Joanne Bartelt officiating. Burial will follow in Union-Udell cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to either the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home where the family will receive friends 4-9 pm Monday.

Farmer, Bruce M.
Saline, MI (formerly of Ypsilanti)
Age 48, passed away Friday, June 27, 2008 at home. He was born January 23, 1960 in Ypsilanti, the son of J.D. and Marna (Dawson) Farmer. On December 14, 2007, he married Lezlie Allison in Toledo and she survives. Bruce worked at American Soy Products in Saline and was a member of The M.R.C.A. Flying Club. He loved to hunt, fish and camp. In addition to his wife, survivors include- one daughter, Erin Farmer of AZ; one son, Alex Farmer of Saline; four stepdaughters, Erin, Megan, Cecilia and Stephanie, all of Livonia; his parents, J.D. and Marna Farmer of Ypsilanti; one sister, Debbie (Sam) Argiero of Pinckney; one brother, Barry (Laura) Farmer of Imlay City, MI; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. The memorial service will be 11-00 am, Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at Forest Avenue Baptist Church, 218 E. Forest Avenue, Ypsilanti with Pastor Ronald G. Clark officiating. Contributions in his memory may be made to either St. Joseph Mercy Hospice or Forest Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund. Envelopes are available at the church where friends may gather from 10-00 am until time of service Wednesday. Arrangements by STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel.
