Age 79, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2008. She was born September 5, 1929 in Ypsilanti, the daughter of Ernest B. and Juanita (Richmond) Williams. On October 4, 1947, she married Howard H. Stoddard and he preceded her in death May 19, 2001. She was a member of Newport Community Church. Survivors include- five sons, Tom, George (Patty), Tod (Charlene), Douglas and Bruce Stoddard; one daughter, Jane (Tom) Dryer; fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; four sisters, Beverly Herig, Mary McFall, Jessie (Ray) Hammond and Donna Yoder; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be 10-00 am Monday, November 24 at Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel. Entombment will follow in Michigan Memorial Park, Flat Rock, MI. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 2-4 & 6-9 pm Sunday.

Suggitt, Bonita Jean
Ypsilanti, MI
Age 85, passed away Monday, November 24, 2008 at her home. She was born September 13, 1923 in Bemidji, MN, the daughter of Henry M. and Alice M. (Hammond) Wilson. Bonita was a member of the Ypsilanti Moose Lodge. She enjoyed gardening, scrapbooking, her “soap” One Life to Live, crossword puzzles, reading and traveling. Survivors include- her children, Susan (Tim) Aschmann of Ypsilanti, Teresa (Al) McGinnis of Jackson, GA and Penny (Mike) Williams of Tecumseh; nine grandchildren, Kristin Saultz of Belleville, Kathy Saultz of Howell, Karen Krebser of FL, Beth Krebser of New Orleans, Casey (Jennifer) Jones of Ypsilanti, Jeff Williams of Tecumseh, Adam West, Tina Sloan and Jessica West, all of Jackson, GA; and six great grandchildren, Katelyn, Brendan and Trevor Jones, all of Ypsilanti and Landrick West, Shallyah Sloan and Kentavious Sloan, all of Jackson, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband Karl E. Suggitt in 1995. Cremation has taken place. The memorial service will be 11-00 am Monday, December 1, 2008 at Community Free Will Baptist Church, 6945 McKean Road, Ypsilanti with Rev. Donald Viers officiating. Burial will follow in Denton cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the church where the family will greet friends from 10-00 am until time of service Monday.

Tomashefsky, Tina “Ma”
Ann Arbor, MI (formerly of Nanuet, NY)
Age 85, passed away Friday, November 21, 2008 in Ann Arbor with her loving family by her side. Tina was born December 7, 1922 in New York, the daughter of Joseph and Catherine (Piciulo) Esposito. She lived in the Bronx and Nanuet, NY for 83 years before moving to Ann Arbor almost three years ago. On November 22, 1947, Tina married a W.W. II Army veteran, Alexander Tomashefsky. Together they raised two sons in the Bronx. Tina worked very hard throughout her life. She also enjoyed cooking and hosting family dinners, bowling in her weekly league and playing cards and bingo with friends. An avid reader, Tina read over 1, 000 books in her lifetime. She always had the answer for a difficult clue in crossword puzzles. The joy of her life was watching her grandchildren and honorary great grandchildren grow up. She looked forward to Sunday telephone calls and holiday visits with them. Tina was always so proud of them and their accomplishments. She is survived by- two sons, Deacon Steve (Lucia) Thomashefski and John (Cherie) Thomashefski; eight grandchildren, Johanna, Susanna, Joseph, Christina, Peter, Rachel, Nicholas and Matthew; three sisters; Margaret (Andy) Gettings, Edna Magaldi and Rosemarie (Sal) Trapani; her former daughter-in-law and mother of Nicholas and Matthew, Cecelia Deuel; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Al, her parents, her stepfather, John Cardinali and her grandson, Dominic Thomashefski. The funeral mass will be 11-00 am Tuesday, November 25 at Transfiguration Catholic Church, 1301 S. Harris Road, Ypsilanti with Rev. Robert Roggenbuck as celebrant. Contributions in her memory may be made to Hope Clinic International - Tim's Fund for Kids, P.O. Box 980573, Ypsilanti, MI 48198-0573. Envelopes will be available at the church where the family will receive friends 7-9 pm Monday with the vigil service beginning at 7-30 pm from 10 am until time of mass Tuesday. Vance, William Kenneth
Saline, MI
Age 79 went home to be with his Lord on December 2, 2008 with his loving family by his side at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. Now he is free from pain and all his suffering. Born April 6, 1929 in Glade, West Virginia to McKinnly and Hattie (Martin) Vance, Ken served in the Army Airborne Division (101) in Germany as an MP from 1951-53. He worked at Milan Screw Products for over 30 years including 21 years there with his son Dale. After retirement he enjoyed working in his one acre garden and on his 1941 Dodge W.C. truck which his father had purchased for him as his first truck. Ken enjoyed driving this truck in the Memorial Day parade in Saline. Ken was married to Reva (Elkins) for almost 55 years and she survives along with their sons Ken Jr., and Dale and a daughter Debbie, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two brothers Mack and Archie Vance, six sisters, Mamie Cole, Mary Garrett, Ethel Johnson, Alice Coleman, Betty Burton, Dreama Helton. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home in Milan on Friday from noon until time of service at 2pm. Burial following at Marble Park cemetery, Milan. Contributions may be made to Humane Society of Huron Valley. www.ochalekstark.com.

Watson, Anna Mae
Wayne, MI (formerly of Westland)
Age 71, passed away Friday, November 28, 2008 at Annapolis Hospital. She was born April 18, 1937 in Round County, KY, the daughter of Alvis and Delma (Phillips) Meadows. On April 10, 1958, she married Jackie Watson in Angola, IN and he preceded her in death October 9, 1994. Anna was a homemaker all her life. Survivors include- two daughters, Mary (James) McDaniel of Nevada and Julia McDaniel of OK; one son, Michael Watson of Wayne; six grandchiklren; one great grandson; and three brothers, Jack (Sandra) Cline of Canto, Larry Cline of IL and Robert Cline of IN. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers. Memorial services will be held 1-30 pm Thursday, December 4, 2008 at Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Highland cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 4-9 pm Wednesday.

Williams, Mary Frances
Ypsilanti, MI
Age 86, passed away peacefully at home Friday, November 28, 2008 surrounded by her family. She was born April 18, 1922 in Ypsilanti, the daughter of Paul Isom and Virginia (Scott) Clay. She was a graduate of Ypsilanti High School and Michigan State Normal College (now EMU). For forty years, she taught elementary education in the Willow Run Public Schools, where she was much beloved by her students, before retiring in 1992. She was a member of the Michigan Education Association, the L'Sprit Club, and the Mr. and Mrs. Club of Ypsilanti. Mary Frances enjoyed attending plays and concerts, reading and traveling. She will always be remembered for her great love of children and was especially devoted to her family and grandchildren. She leaves behind- her loving children, Joseph (Ingrid) of Kalamazoo, Mark (Jannine) of VT, Bryan (RiaLee) of CA and Stacy (George) Bingham of Ypsilanti; her four grandchildren, Michael Slater, Jasmine Bingham, Joel Williams and Brianna Williams; her great granddaughter, Kamaria Slater; her brother, Emerson Clay of Ypsilanti; her sister-in-law, Josie Clay of Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Paul, Dunbar and James and two sisters, Effie Trigg and Opal Harris. The funeral service will be 11-00 am Monday, December 8, 2008 at Ypsilanti Seventh Day Adventist Church, 402 S. Adams, Ypsilanti with Pastor Cluade Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in United Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-9 pm Sunday at Stark Funeral Service. The family hour will be at the church from 10-00 am until time of service Monday.

Allgood, Omie I.
Ypsilanti, MI
Age 85, passed away Friday, January 2, 2009 at Bortz Health Care of Ypsilanti. She was born September 3, 1923 in Arkansas, the daughter of Leonard and Lola (McCloud) Hawkins. She married Andrew Allgood and he preceded her in death July 13, 1985. She was a homemaker all her life. Omie was a loving mother and grandmother. Survivors include- two sons, Ricky (Vickie) Allgood and Leonard Allgood, both of Ypsilanti; four daughters, Mary Margaret Blevins of Ypsilanti, Ruby Lee (Leland) Clay of TN, Nina (Robert) Whittington and Shirley Moody, both of Ypsilanti; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; one brother; two sisters; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister. The funeral service will be 11-00 am Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel with Pastor Don Viers of Community Free Will Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Knollwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 4-9 pm Tuesday.

Berbee, Leo M.
Milan, MI
Age 89 died January 9, 2009 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born December 1, 1919 in Pillager, MN to Peter and Anna (Puitz) Berbee. On January 12, 1945 he married Juanita Williamson and this Monday they would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. Leo was very proud serving in the Army-Air Corp, based in the Aleutian Islands during WWII. He also was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the Loyal Order of the Moose. He was a very loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who always put his family first. In addition to his wife of 64 years, he is survived by three daughters, Patricia (Victor) Gilica of Spokane, WA, Nancy (Matt) Szaflarski of Howell, MI, and Kathy (Paul) Gunderson of Milan, seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a brother Walter of MN. He was preceded in death by a grandson, brother and sister. Visitation will be held at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home in Milan on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8pm where a rosary will be recited at 7-30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Milan on Tuesday at 11-00am followed by Military Honors with Washtenaw County honor guard. Burial will be at St. John cemetery, Ypsilanti. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Joseph Mercy Hospice or the church.

Chadwell, Floyd Jr.
Ypsilanti, MI
Age 85, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at Huron Woods. He was born March 19, 1923 in Girdler, KY, the son of Floyd and Sallie (Hammons) Chadwell. On October 25, 1946, he married Nora Mills in Toledo, OH and she preceded him in death January 3, 1994. He then married Ruth (Delozier) Buberniak on October 16, 1996 in Corbin, KY and she survives. Floyd attended St. Matthew's United Methodist Church in Ypsilanti. He worked at Ford Motor Company for 30 years, retiring from the Ford Wixom plant in 1985. He was a member of the Ypsilanti Township Senior Center and loved gardening, fishing, camping and traveling. He loved his family very much. In addition to his beloved wife, Ruth of twelve years, survivors include- one daughter, Phyllis (Bill) Boklan of FL; three grandchildren, Shannon Parlin, Shelley Cogswell and Debbie Cogswell-Barks; eight great grandchildren; other loving family members, Harry (Michele) Buberniak, Susan (Paul) Caines and JoAnne (Kurt) Hinds; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Jewel Calhoun, one grandson, Ken Calhoun, six sisters and one brother. The funeral service will be 1-00 pm Friday, January 16, 2008 at Huron Woods, 5361 McAuley Drive, Ann Arbor, 734-712-2271 with Chaplain Dr. Marianne Danks officiating. Burial will be 3-00 pm Friday in Highland cemetery. Contributions in his memory may be made to either St. Matthew's United Methodist Church or Huron Woods. Conley, Mary M.
Ypsilanti, MI
Age 87, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at the Gilbert Residence. She was born January 5, 1922 in Gwinn, MI, the daughter of John and Madeline (Giachino) Desiatto. She was a graduate of Calumet (MI) High School and a graduate of Cleary College in 1940. On May 18, 1946, she married Don G. Conley at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ypsilanti and he survives. In addition to being a wife, homemaker and mother, she was a secretary. After 30 years with Eastern MI University, she retired as an executive secretary to the Vice President of Business and Finance in 1985. Mary was a member of Transfiguration Catholic Church since 1962. After retirement, Mary and her husband spent many winters in New Port Richey, FL and summers in Houghton Lake, MI. She was a very active member of the Women of the Moose, Ypsilanti Chapter #286 for many years and was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #282. She thoroughly enjoyed traveling, bowling, dancing, cards and boating. Also, she was an avid reader in later years. But most importantly, she enjoyed her family, grandchildren and friends. In addition to her loving husband of 62 years, survivors include- one son, Gary (Cynthia) Conley of New Boston, MI; one daughter, Kathryn (Gary) Blakemore of Ypsilanti; grandchildren, Henry and Jonathan Conley of New Boston, Erika and Laura Blakemore of Ypsilanti and Ryan Blakemore of NM; one great grandson, Jimmy; sister-in-law, Anna Desiatto; nephews, John (Carol) Desiatto and Michael Desiatto and one grandniece, all of Calumet, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Pauline Coleman and one brother, John Desiatto. Cremation has taken place. The memorial mass will be 10-30 am, Tuesday, January 13, 2008 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 410 W. Cross Street, Ypsilanti with Rev. Fr. Edmond Ertzbischoff as celebrant. Contributions in her memory may be made to the charity of one's choice. Envelopes are available at the church where the family will receive friends from 9-30 am until time of mass Tuesday. Arrangements handled through Stark Funeral Service.

Crampton, Frank “Mickey”
Port Charlotte, Florida (formerly of Milan)
Age 70 died Wednesday, January 07, 2009 at University of Michigan Hospital. He was born February 20, 1938 in Ypsilanti, MI to Frank and Geraldine (Fitzsimmons) Crampton. On September 2, 1961 he married Myra “Mike” Woodall and she preceded him in death on February 11, 2008. Mickey graduated from Ypsilanti H.S. in 1956 and served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a very loyal member of the Moose in Milan and Florida and was a very proud member of Plumber Pipefitters Union Local 190 as well as an avid golfer. He is survived by three children; Cynthia (Bill) Kanitz of Cadillac, Coleen (Martin) Ramirez of Detroit, Curt (Tammy) Crampton of Milan (and her son Harley), three grandchildren, Billy and Matt Kanitz and Kimberly Burga, nieces & nephew Kathy, Patty and Joe. Besides his wife he was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law Nancy and Jerry Gibaud and their daughter Margaret. The family will receive friends at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan on Friday (tomorrow) from 5-00 to 6-00 pm. where a memorial service will be held at 6-00pm. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan.

Ypsilanti, MI
Age 19, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2008 in South Bend, IN. She was born March 19, 1989 in Ann Arbor, MI. She was a 2007 graduate of Lincoln Consolidated High School, where she was a member of the marching band and concert band. Lauren was currently employed at Tim Horton's in Holland, OH. Survivors include- her parents, Dawn (Jerry) Cowhy and Tom Diefenthaler; one brother, Christopher Diefenthaler; one sister, Madison Cowhy; maternal grandparents, Sandra (Gene) Cherry and Michael (Gail) Ellison; paternal grandparents, Jim and Alice Diefenthaler; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. The funeral mass will be 11-00 am Saturday, December 27, 2008 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 410 W. Cross Street with Fr. Ed Ertzbischoff as celebrant. Private burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing, MI. Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Jude's Childrens' Hospital. Dugas, Scott A.
Ypsilanti, MI
Age 37, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2009 from injuries sustained in a snowmobile accident. He was born November 17, 1971 in Meridian, MS. He was a 1990 graduate of Ypsilanti High School. Scott played baseball with the Ypsilanti American Little League. He was an avid sports fan and loved to golf. Scott was a member of the Ypsilanti Eagles Aerie #2250. He has been employed with the Ypsilanti Department of Public Works for nine years. Survivors include- his parents, Frank and Nancy (Nowling) Dugas; sister, Stacie; his son, Andrew; stepdaughter, Taylor; girlfriend, Trish; grandparents, Douglass and Doris Nowling and Morley Kellogg; and his extended family, Gary (Linda) Nowling, John (Vickie) Nowling, Jim (Lois) Nowling, Bill (Lisa) Nowling, Betty (Carl) Danielson, Bonnie (Ed) Davis, John (Kathy) Dugas, Mary Ellen Wood, Patty Szabo, Mike (Sue) White, Nicole White, Janis (Skip) Riley, Joette (Russ) Ward and Jackie Walter. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Mary Dugas and L. Jane Kellogg. The funeral service will be 11-00 am Thursday, January 15, 2008 at Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel with Pastor Gordon Moore officiating. Contributions in his memory may be made to either the Humane Society of Huron Valley or Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley. Greenawalt, Loren D.

Age 54, passed away suddenly Saturday, December 20, 2008. He was born December 30, 1953 in LaGrange, IN, the son of Stanley and Ramona (Norris) Greenawalt. Loren grew up in LaGrange and attended several colleges, receiving degrees in music education and becoming an ordained minister. He ran his own children's music education business for many years in Texas, relocating to the Ann Arbor area several years ago to be near his family. A well-loved children's music educator, Loren was known as Mr. G. to many area preschools and day cares. He also loved his job as organist at the Michigan Theater and several local churches. He is survived by his son, Jeremy and Jeremy's wife, Bekah; sister, Pam Long and husband, Patrick; brother, Roger and wife, Amy; nieces, Jessica (Mark) Schur and Geneva Mitch Baczynski) Marks; great nephew, Eric Schur; and close friend, Ernie Toth. The funeral service will be 1-00 pm Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Greenwood United Methodist Church, 1001 Green Road, Ann Arbor. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Michigan Theater. Hopkins, Catherine U.
Ypsilanti, MI
Age 63, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2008 at Annapolis Hospital following a battle with cancer. She was born September 17, 1945 in Wayne, MI. Catherine was a 1963 graduate of Wayne Memorial High School. She worked for Oakwood Hospitals for 27 years, retiring in 2007. Survivors include- her husband of 44 years Victor; two daughters, Sherry (Richard) Browning of Canton and Laura U. Hopkins of Ypsilanti; three grandsons, Phillip, Michael and Victor Browning; and great granddaughter, Mikayla Browning. She was preceded in death by her mother, Thera Proctor and one brother, Frank Wilson. The funeral service will be 6-00 pm Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel. Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 5-00 pm until time of service Tuesday.

Madden, Helen L.
Ann Arbor, MI
Age 87, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at Huron Woods. She was born April 8, 1921 in Augusta, KS, the daughter of Harry and Lora (Abbett) Van Horn. On July 20, 1940, she married John D. Madden in Augusta, KS and he preceded her in death October 26, 1998. Helen was a homemaker until both of her children were grown. She then worked in the family Dairy Queen for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ypsilanti. She loved to sew, make apple pies and winter in Florida. Survivors include- son, Bill V. (Cheryl) Madden of Saline; daughter, Phyllis M. Madden of Monroe; granddaughters, Karen (James) Madden-Reilly of Saline and Laura (Marcus) Madden-Semones of Philadelphia, PA; and four great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Ermol Carter and Irene Parry. A memorial service was officiated by Rev. Ray Mondragon of First United Methodist Church of Ypsilanti and burial was in Highland cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to either the Alzheimers Association or Salvation Army. Arrangements handled through Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel.
