CLAWSON -- Carroll W. Clawson, age 92, of Plainwell, died Wednesday, November 17, 1999 at the Borgess/Pipp Health Center in Plainwell. Mr. Clawson was born July 30, 1907 in Monterey Twp., the son of Clement & Adah (Wagner) Clawson. Carroll had worked in the grain elevators in Martin & Otsego for over 20 years and with the Weyerhauser Paper Co. in Plainwell for 11 years before retiring in 1970. On November 22, 1933 in Elkhart IN, Carroll married Ruth H. Kraft who survives, also surviving are his sister, Lucille McLaughlin of Martin and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Howard and 3 sisters, Ermina McBride, Thelma Miner and Marjorie Miner. Funeral Services were held Saturday at 1pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Pastor Joseph Spakeman from the United Methodist Church officiating. Interment Hudson Corners cemetery, Allegan Twp. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

VAN DUSSEN -- Dirk I. Van Dussen, Sr., aged 86, of Holland and formerly of Wayland, passed away at Laurels of Sandy Creek, Sunday, November 21, 1999. He is survived by his wife Gertrude; children, Irene (Monte) Scheerhoorn, Dirk Jr. (Betty) Van Dussen, Peter J. (Christine) Van Dussen, Phyllis (Sam) Bowman and Patricia (Donald) Kuiper; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, John Van Dussen, Sierd Van Dussen and Arnold Van Dussen; 4 sisters, Catherine Groeneveld, Clazina Hunderman, Bussie Sheaffer and Juriana Jager. Mr. Van Dussen was preceded in death by his children, Robert, Carol and Pearl. Funeral Services were held Wednesday at the funeral home with Dr. Ronald Zartman of Crystal Creek Community Church in Grandville officiating. Interment Jones cemetery, Dorr Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to Allegan Co. Wings of Hope Hospice or Wayland Ambulance. Arrangements by Archer, Hampel & Kubiak, Wayland Chapel.

TER BEEK -- Clarence H. TerBeek, age 85, of Byron Center passed away at home and went to be with his Lord Sunday, March 26, 2000. He is survived by his daughters Lois Wolf, and Char (Bill) Raterink both of Byron Center. Three grandchildren Bernard (Sharon) Wolf, Mary Postma, and Angela Diekman. Also four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Clarence was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Hazel; daughter Marilyn Washburn, son-in-law Bernard Wolf. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Byron Center First Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Thomas K. Groelsema officiating. Interment at Winchester cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church building fund. Arrangements by Archer, Hampel & Kubiak, Dorr Chapel.

WHITTREDGE -- Carol A. Whittredge, aged 66, of Wayland, passed away and went to be with her Lord, Sunday, March 26, 2000. She is survived by her children; Melody Whittredge, Gary Whittredge, Dale (Terrie) Whittredge; five grandchildren, Eric, Nicole, Jacob, Jared, Cassidy; brothers and sisters, Avis (Ernest) Jones, Margaret (Jack) Frost, Florence (Lou) Miedema, Larry (Arlene) Oetman, David (Arlene) Oetman; also three special friends, Marilyn Cone, Ann Adrion and Arlene Parker. Carol was preceded in death by her sister, Beatrice Bredeweg. Funeral Service was held Thursday at Calvary Church in Wayland with Rev. Michael Hasper and Rev. Ron Bouwkamp officiating. Interment Elmwood cemetery. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Archer, Hampel & Kubiak, Wayland Chapel.

GULCH -- Steven (Dude) Gulch, age 80, of Baldwin, formerly of Dorr passed away Friday, March 24, 2000. He is survived by his children Steven (Grace) Gulch, Barbara Gaedert, Stanley (Karen) Gulch, and Chris Gulch; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers Felix (Phyllis) Gulch, Edward Gulch, Bud Gulch, Ron (Kathy) Gulch, Jim Gulch, Tom Gulch; sisters Evelyn Niemczyk, Jeanette Kaseta, Elsie Prince and Christine Gulch. Several nieces and nephews and special friend Ann Bearman. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Rebecca Lynn Gaedert. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the funeral home. Military graveside service followed at St. Stanislaus cemetery in Hilliards. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association. Arrangements by Archer, Hampel & Kubiak, Wayland Chapel.

SINKE -- Gerard Peter "Doc" Sinke, 86, of Key Largo, Florida died on March 27, 2000, in Florida. He was born in Moline, Michigan in 1913 to Peter Sinke and Lena TenHoor Sinke. He married his sweetheart, Marguerite just after Pearl Harbor and left with the Army. He was a member of the field artillery from June 1941 until Nov 1945, serving in Northern France and was discharged as a Cpl. He and his brothers bought the family businesses in Michigan and ran Sinke Brothers Drain Tile Company for 20 years. He moved to Key Largo in 1970. He was a life member of both the NRA and VFW, and a member of the Key Largo Civic Club. He is survived by his loving wife Marge, sisters Grace (Jason) Rozema and Mariel Hathaway and a brother Leonard (Evelyn) Sinke all of Michigan, and numerous nieces and nephews. Burial at Florida National cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.

SLATTERY -- Doris Y. Slattery, age 62, of Spring Lake, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2000 at her home. Doris is remembered as being a deeply religious, generous and beautiful lady who took a lot of pride in her work as a pharmacist, making sure prescriptions were accurately and precisely filled. She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Slattery in 1988. Doris had a deep love for her children, Shawn Slattery of Battle Creek, Kate and Jeff Geer and Tim Slattery, all of Grand Rapids and her grandchildren, Jessica Geer, Julia Slattery and Samantha Geer. Also surviving are her sister, June and Bernard DeForest of Plainwell; brother, John and Becky Halloran of Otsego; nieces and nephews and Shawn, Kate and Tim's father, John Slattery of Battle Creek. The Rosary was prayed Wednesday evening at the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial for Doris was Thursday morning at Assumption B.V.M. Catholic Church, Belmont, MI with Rev. James Bozung as celebrant. Burial in Assumption cemetery. HALL -- Michael J. Hall. Hastings formerly of Orangeville. Mike's life began May 14, 1962 in Plainwell, the son of Ray Hall and Harriet Drewyor. He grew up in the Orangeville and Hastings area. Mike was an outdoorsman who enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and mushrooming. His family includes his father and stepmother, Ray and Donna Hall of Plainwell, brothers and sisters, Stephen Hall of Plainwell, Cindy Marshall and her husband John of Martin, Lori Straube and her husband Jon of Hastings, half-brothers, Don Hall of Plainwell and Kris Hall of Otsego, a stepbrother Eric Reed of Plainwell, 2 nieces, 2 nephews and 1 great niece. Mike died suddenly on Sunday, April 9, 2000. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother in 1998, and by a niece Jamie Lynn Murphy. A Celebration of Life Service was held Thursday at Orangeville Pentecostal Church. Mike Risner, James Hall and Rich Sheldon led the service. REINART -- Golden F. Reinart, age 81, of Monterey Twp., died Wednesday, April 12, 2000 in Monterey Twp. Mrs. Reinart was born January 13, 1919 in Monterey Twp., the daughter of Claude C. & Linnie M. (Moored) Parker. Golden was a member of the St. Mary's Visitation Catholic Church in New Salem. She was a graduate of Hopkins High School as well as Argubright Business College in Battle Creek. She worked at Sherman's in Battle Creek for many years. Surviving are 2 children & their spouses, Christopher & Rita Reinart of Monterey Twp. and Sarah & Daniel Larson of Kalamazoo; 5 grandchildren, Henry, Leonard & Stephen Reinart and Dustin & Stephanie Larson; 1 sister, Marguerite Sebright of Allegan; 2 sister-in-laws, Margery Reinart of Allegan and Margaret & Stanley Iciek of Wayland, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry; her brother, Alan Parker and 3 sisters, Lucille Munk and Hilda & Stella Parker. Friends may meet with the family on Sunday from 3-6p.m. at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, where the scripture service will be held at 5:30p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Visitation Parish. Rev. Fr. Richard Altine, Celebrant. Interment in the Church cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Visitation School.

SKINNER -- Howard Skinner, Monterey Twp., Hopkins, died Friday, April 7, 2000 at his residence. Mr. Skinner was born November 21, 1921 in the Sand Hills of Monterey, MI the son of Charles E. and Cora (Miller) Skinner. Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Sarah Jane (Simmons) Skinner; 3 children, Homer Lee Skinner and his fiancee, Lily Bryan of Hopkins, Comer Lance Skinner of Hopkins, Leah Jane & Bill Halstead of Allegan; 3 grandsons, Issac and Isaiah Halstead, Mike Bryan; 1 brother, Charles and Doris Skinner of Holland; many cousins, nieces and nephews. The pallbearers will be: Harley Schut, Don Glupker, Leonard Beltman, Basil Teed, Paul Berens, Lloyd Miller, Bob Truax, Alvin Schrock, Lester King, and Rick Porter, honorary pallbearers are: Issac Halstead, Isaiah Halstead, Mike Bryan and Scott Teed. Howard was born, raised his family and died under the same roof on the family homestead in Hopkins, MI. As well as farming, Howard was a livestock hauler, a mason who helped in the construction of Allegan General Hospital, and in the 1940's he had a trucking business. From 1965 to 1983 he was employed at the L. Perrigo Co. in the warehouse. After his retirement he continued farming. He was an honorary member of the Hopkins FFA Chapter 279 and a member of the Hopkins FFA Alumni. An outgoing and caring person, Howard was always there for his neighbors and community. He especially enjoyed his time with his grandchildren. His focus on the Amish traditions and his Amish friends were important to him. He was a local historian and used his ancestors knowledge for predicting the weather. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters, Mary Skinner, Marion (Richard) Dykstra, Dorothy (Peter) Dykstra and 4 infant brothers and sisters. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, led by Pastor Kenneth Reeves of Monterey Center United Methodist Church, Comer Skinner, lay speaker at Monterey Center United Methodist Church and Rich Hoezee, a Baptist lay speaker. Burial at Poplar Hill cemetery was preceded by a horse-drawn hearse and riders. Memorial contributions may be made to the Monterey Center United Methodist Church, Heartland Hospice, or the Jack L. Schut FFA Washington Leadership Memorial Scholarship Fund.

BOYER -- Beatrice N. Boyer (Standish) aged 75, of Hastings, formerly of Bradley passed away Thursday, October 12, 2000. She is survived by her children, Gary (Judy) Standish, Sheila Standish; step-children, Patricia Hunsucker, Ruth Stone; 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Funeral Services were held Monday at United Church of Wayland with Pastor Nancy Zerban officiating. Interment Elmwood cemetery. Memorials may be made to Pennock Hospital Memorial Fund or United Church of Wayland. Arrangements by Archer, Hampel & Kubiak, Wayland Chapel.

LAMPHEAR -- Karlton G. Lamphear, aged 77, of Payne Lake, passed away at Pennock Hospital in Hastings, Friday, October 13, 2000. He is survived by his daughters, Karen (Jess) Reil, Cindy Thompson & Pam (Mike) Scott; eleven grandchildren & four great-grandchildren; also his special friend, Irene Jost. Karlton was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Lamphear. He was a WWII Army Veteran & a Life Member of the Wayland VFW Post #7581. Funeral Services were held Tuesday at the funeral home. SNOEYINK -- Lue Ardis (Dean) Snoeyink, aged 68 of Shelbyville, passed away at her home on Thursday, October 12, 2000. She is survived by her children, George (Deborah) Weedall, Richard Weedall, Spark (Darlene) Weedall, Dona (Martin) Abbott, Wendy (Jim) Timm, Kendra Snoeyink, Kelly Snoeyink and fiance, Kenny Billington, Kimberly Slagter; grandchildren, Teresa, Vinny, Feather, Trina, Ricky, Serena, Blissful, Cody Joe, Jodi, Sparky, Mike, A.J., Josh, Cody, David, Violet, Brian, Adam, Shaen, Alexis, Jeremy, Bree; ten great grandchildren; very close friends, John & Betty Whitney and Laure' Whitney; also cousin, Don Shafer. Lue Ardis was a member of Otsego Eastern Star Lodge #169. Funeral Services were held Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Lee Zachman officiating. Interment Elmwood cemetery. IRVINE -- Rhoda W. Irvine, aged 80, of Grand Rapids, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2000, at home in the presence of her family. The former, Rhoda Woodfield was born in Sussex, England, and moved to Wayland, MI, subsequent to her marriage to Leslie C. Irvine of Manitoba, Canada, after World War II. She later moved to Grand Rapids, MI, in 1988. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London, England, Mrs. Irvine taught piano and music throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie C. Irvine, in 1960. Rhoda is survived by her daughters, Suzanne Wasylak of Framingham, MA, Lesley Kranenberg of Grand Rapids, MI; three grandchildren, David and Mathieu Wasylak of Framingham, MA, and Rhoda Kranenberg of Grand Rapids, MI. A private burial service was conducted at Elmwood cemetery, Wayland Twp., MI, on October 18, 2000. Time and place of Memorial Service to be determined. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Kent County Humane Society. Arrangements by Archer, Hampel & Kubiak, Wayland Chapel.
