WYKOSKI -- MARLENE M. WYKOSKI, aged 78, of Hilliards passed away peacefully at home with her family present on Tuesday, October 1, 2002. She is survived by her sons and their families, Jim & Tess Wykoski, Ed, Annie & John; Larry & Sue Wykoski, Curt & Tim; other grandchildren, Kim & Brian Decker; sister, JoAnn (Carl) Zomerlei; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Wykoski, Geneva Wykoski, Betty Homrich. Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, Edward "Speed" Wykoski, her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy & Jim Decker; brother, Vernon Homrich. Marlene was a member of St. Stanislaus Church, Altar Rosary Society, Ladies VFW Auxiliary Wayland Post, Our Lady of Lourdes Circle. Parish Rosary was held on Thursday at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday at St. Stanislaus Church with Fr. James Vinh Le as celebrant. Internment at the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice of Allegan County. Arrangements were made by Archer, Hampel & Kubiak, Wayland Chapel.

MCBRIDE -- Norma McBride, aged 67, of Hopkins Twp., passed away, Thursday, February 13, 2003. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Marvin; daughter, Joan (Wayne) Halloran; grandchildren, Tony (Nickie) Halloran, Nicki (friend Bill Brefke) Halloran, Mandi (Alex) Ludema; great grandchildren, Ezrian & Cassidy; brother, Dick (Sandy) Kugelard; niece, Gina; nephews, Troy and Greg (Cara). Memorial Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Nancy Zerban officiating. Memorials may be made to Barry County Hospice or Wayland Area Ambulance. The family will meet relatives and friends one hour prior to the Memorial Service on Saturday. Arrangements by Archer, Hampel & Kubiak, Wayland Chapel.

CHAMBERS -- Violet J. Chambers, age 82, of Monterey Twp., Hopkins, MI, died Tuesday, April 23, 2002 at the Laurels of Sandy Creek, Wayland. Mrs. Chambers was born May 5, 1919 in Holland, the daughter of William and Alice (Beekman) Kuhlman. She was a member of the Monterey Center United Methodist Church and had been employed by General Electric in Holland for 20 years, retiring in the mid 80's. Surviving are 2 daughters, Shirley Cook of Douglas and Alice (Larry) Gibson of Hopkins; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Dale Gumser of California; sister-in-law, Gladys Kuhlman of Indiana; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death her husband, Edson; brother, Elmer; and sister, June Gumser. Funeral services were held Friday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel with Pastor Kenneth Reeves officiating. Interment Douglas cemetery, Douglas, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

MODRESKE (Szudzik) -- Lillian M. Modreske, aged 88, of Wayland, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, April 24, 2002, after a long illness, at the home of her son-in-law and daughter with whom she lived the past four years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry in 1962. Lillian is survived by her six children; Adeline & Ronald Hines, Henry Modreske, Floyd & Jean Modreske, Thomas & Joan Modreske, Maryanne & Donald Sevigny, Eugene & Mary Modreske; 21 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren; brother, Edmund & Rita Szudzik; sister, Sophie Baweja; many nieces, nephews & friends. Parish Scripture was Friday at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated Saturday 11:00am at St. Stanislaus Church, Hilliards, with Msgr. Herman Zerfas as celebrant. Interment St. Stanislaus cemetery. Memorials may be made to Wayland Area Ambulance or St. Stanislaus School. Arrangements by Archer, Hampel & Kubiak, Wayland Chapel

WIERSEMA -- Robert Wiersema, aged 66, of Moline, went to his heavenly home, Friday, April 19, 2002, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Hyla; sons, Robert (Lynne) Wiersema II, Jeff (Kimberly) Wiersema; grandsons, Robert III and Benjamin; brother, Donald (Marilyn) Wiersema; sisters, Joyce (Ernie) Cowell, Carol Homrich; step-mother, Juanita Wiersema; half-brother, Jim (Linda) Wiersema; half-sister, Janice Freeland; brother and sister-in-law, Dewey and Ruth Moore; sister-in-law, Gladys Beek; Uncle Henry (Doris) Emelander; Aunt Mildred Emelander; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by father, Martin Wiersema and mother, Lucille Henning. Mr. Wiersema was a United States Marine Veteran. Funeral Services were held Tuesday at Moline Baptist Church, with Pastor Jeff Smalla officiating. Interment will be at the Dorr cemetery. Memorials may be made to Visiting Nurses or Moline Baptist Church. Arrangements by Archer, Hampel & Kubiak, Dorr Chapel

GULCH -- Felix M. Gulch, aged 76, of Wayland, a distinguished veteran of both World War II and Korea, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, April 13, 2002, following a courageous battle with emphysema at his home. He was born October 9, 1925, the son of August & Elsie Gulch. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 49 years, Phyllis (James); his son, W. Lynn (Lisa) Gulch; grandchildren, Kevin, Matthew and Sarah. Felix was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Evelyn, Jean, Emily & Carol; brothers, Frank, Steve, John and Walter. Surviving are his brothers, Ed, Bud, Ron (Kathy), Jim & Tom Gulch, all of Baldwin; his sisters, Jeannette Kaseta, Elsie Prince and Christine Gulch of Sterling Heights; also many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Memorials may be made to Wayland Area Ambulance, Hospice of Michigan or Emphysema Foundation. Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Therese Church with Fr. Gary Pamment as Celebrant. Military Graveside Services at Elmwood cemetery. Arrangements by Archer, Hampel & Kubiak, Wayland Chapel

REURINK -- Charlotte M. Reurink, Shelbyville, died Friday, April 12, 2002 at her home. Mrs. Reurink was born November 3, 1922 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Henry & Emma (Koster) Burg. Surviving are her husband, Henry; 4 children & their spouses, Richard & Mary Reurink of Middleville, Mary & Michael Poeller of Hopkins, Jane & Kenneth Worstell of Otsego and Susan & Jim King of Hastings, 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 1 daughter-in-law, Doreen Reurink of Hopkins, several sisters & brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her son Hank and her brother Irwin. Cremation has taken place. Private graveside service at South Martin cemetery. Arrangements made by the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel.

ANDERSON -- Marvin Dale "Andy" Anderson, aged 75, of Yankee Springs Twp., loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather & friend ended his courageous battle with cancer on Saturday evening, April 6, 2002. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Peggy; children, Terri (Mark) Kirby and Steven (Betsy) Anderson; grandchildren, Danielle, Lacey, Jessica, Jenna, Samuel, Kristin, Mark & Sean; great-grandson, Zachary; also his step-brother, Forrest (Evelyn) Anderson. Andy graduated from Creston High School in 1945 and immediately enlisted in the United States Army. Shortly after his service ended, he joined the Michigan State Police retiring from the Wayland Post after 26 years as a State Police Sgt. He was an active member of the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, the Elks & Yankee Springs Golf Course. Scripture Service was Tuesday at the funeral home. Knights of Columbus prayed the Rosary Tuesday at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial was Wednesday at St. Therese Church in Wayland with Fr. Gary Pamment as Celebrant. Interment at Fairview cemetery in Manistique, MI in late spring. Memorial contributions may be made to Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church Bldg fund or Allegan Co. Wings of Hope Hospice. Arrangements by Archer, Hampel & Kubiak, Wayland Chapel.

BRENNER -- Marian F. Brenner, aged 81, of Wayland Twp., passed away Sunday, April 7, 2002. She is survived by her children, Pauline Hines of Marietta, GA., Maynard (Jenny) Brenner of Wayland, Roger (Becky) Brenner of Otsego & Karen (James) Shea of Hopkins; ten grandchildren & fifteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Furne (Elaine) Zeinstra of Martin, Willis (Brenda) Zeinstra of Allegan, Marlin (Kay) Zeinstra of Byron Center; sisters, Arlene (Harm) Nieboer of Kalamazoo & LaVonne (William) Snook of Martin. Funeral Services were held Friday at Shelbyville United Methodist Church with Pastor William Bills officiating. Interment Elmwood cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Shelbyville United Methodist Church Bldg fund, the Heart Association or the Kidney Foundation. Arrangements by Archer, Hampel & Kubiak, Wayland Chapel

WHITCOMB -- George R. Whitcomb, aged 88, of Moline, passed away April 7, 2002. He was born December 31, 1913 to Alden A and Dena (VanderOudermeulen) Whitcomb in Byron Center, Michigan. George is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nellie (Noah); brother, Woodrow Whitcomb; sons, Jerry L. (Beth) Whitcomb, Robert L. (Terry) Whitcomb; daughter, Linda (Paul) Zimmer; grandchildren, Todd Whitcomb, Teresa Whitcomb, Scott Whitcomb, Amy Norris, Ryan Whitcomb, Matt Maynard, Aaron Zimmer, Megan Zimmer and Jared Zimmer; great-grandchildren, Michael Richmond, Skye Whitcomb, Riggs Maynard; also several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters, Alice E. (Burgess), Edwin Whitcomb, Anna R. (Schwander), Gail Whitcomb, Rose V. Whitcomb, Mable Whitcomb; and also two infant sisters and one infant brother. George retired following 38 years of service at General Motors Plant 1 in Wyoming. He served for a term on the Moline School Board. His favorite hobbies were gardening, baseball, camping and playing in the Moline Kitchen Band. Funeral and Committal Services were held at the Berean Bible Church. with Pastor John Lowder officiating. Interment at Hooker cemetery in Leighton Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Berean Bible Church. Arrangements by Archer, Hampel & Kubiak, Dorr Chapel

MEDENDORP -- Raymond "Butch" Medendorp, age 58 of the Shelbyville and Gun Lake area passed away Saturday, March 30, 2002. He went to be with his Lord and Savior and joined his parents Raymond and Reka, and sister Evelyn Culver who preceded him in death. Butch passed away in his sleep comforted by the presence and love of his brothers and pastor. He will always be remembered for his strong faith in God, his loving and caring manor towards others. He was certainly one of a kind. He spent the last five years of his life with family in Florida, Texas and Wisconsin. Butch was born in Plainwell, and as the years passed on became affectionately known as the "Mayor of Shelbyville." He will be deeply missed by his brothers Albert (Linda) Medendorp, Hilbert (Regenia) Medendorp, Cornelius (Gloria) Medendorp; and sisters Jennie Gale (Richard) Jameson, Karen (Roland) Zwerger. Also many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Dorr Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Merritt Johnson of the Yankee Springs Bible Church officiating. Interment at East Martin cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Barry County Hospice or to schools for special education that Butch attended in Florida and Wisconsin. AUBIL -- Ethel Aubil "Jimmie," aged 84, of Wayland, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 27, 2002. She was born to Milton & Ida Overmire. Ethel married Arthur Aubil, March 26, 1951. Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Arthur Aubil; children, Marv & Janet Wegner of N. Muskegon, Russ & Janet Aubil of Wayland; grandchildren, Dan & Amanda Wegner, Casey & Kelsey Aubil; brother, Richard & Irene Overmire of Wayland; three very special sisters-in-law, Berry & Dorothy Aubil of Wayland, and Marian Aubil of Middleville; many nieces, nephews & cousins. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Jean Wegner. Mrs. Aubil graduated from Wayland High School 1935 and from Western University Teacher's College. She was a retired school teacher, who taught 34 years, most of it in Wayland. Ethel was a Charter Member of Calvary Church of Wayland where she & her husband were very active members for years. Funeral & Committal Services were held Saturday 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Church of Wayland with Pastor Michael Hasper officiating. Interment Hooker cemetery. Memorials may be made to Mel Trotter Ministries of Grand Rapids or Wayland Area Ambulance. Arrangements by Archer, Hampel & Kubiak, Wayland Chapel.

COLLINS -- Judy M Collins, age 59, of Wayland Twp., passed away Friday, March 22, 2002 at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Frank, and her children Tricia (Mark) Forbes, Marty (Carrie) Collins, Hal (Laurie) Collins. Her grandchildren Loren, Julia, Libby, Megan and Trey. Her mother Elaine Cierlak, and step-mother Isabella Woods. Four sisters Caren VanSingel, Julie Haveman, Chris Lubbens and Kathy Nelson; two brothers Ron Woods and Dwight Woods. Judy was a member of the American Quarter Horse Assoc. Funeral Services were Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Ken Nash officiating. Cremation will precede her interment in Elmwood cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Borgess-Bronson Hospitality House for Families. Arrangements by Archer Hampel & Kubiak, Wayland Chapel.

GARCEAU -- Leslie (Les) Garceau, age 80, of Dorr, passed away and went to be with his Lord on Saturday, March 23, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Ila; children Gene (Linda) Garceau, Ellen Garceau, Janet (Jim) Graczyk, Michael (Lori) Garceau; step-children Sally (Tim) Schoen and Dan Isenhoff. Also 10 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife, Beatrice and son, Tom. Les was a member of Dorr American Legion Post #127. Mass of Christian burial was at the Dorr Funeral Home, 11 a.m., Wednesday, with Father Richard Altine celebrant. Military graveside service at St. Mary's New Salem cemetery. Memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or the Wayland Area Ambulance. Arrangements by Archer Hampel & Kubiak, Dorr Chapel.

LANDON -- Wilma J. Landon, aged 69, of Wayland, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Hershel; children, Charles (Andrea) Landon, Susan (Donald) Toler, Ed (Sue) Landon, Deborah (John) Timm, Jerry Landon, Alan (Linda) Landon; step-children, Hershel (Sue) Landon, Jr., Pat (Harold) Hillsamer, William Landon, Faye (Rich) Sox; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Russ (Pat) Jones, Ron (Sally) Jones. Funeral Services were held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Nancy Zerban officiating. Interment Elmwood cemetery. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association or American Heart Association. Arrangements by Archer, Hampel & Kubiak, Wayland Chapel.
