HENDRIXSON -- Pansy L. Hendrixson, 95 of Hopkins, MI died Thursday, June 21, 2001 at Country Liv-Inn, Wayland. Mrs. Hendrixson was born October 14, 1905 in Hopkins Township, MI the daughter of Ralph and Della (Baker) Button. Surviving are 3 children, Donald & Ann Hendrixson of Dorr Twp, Graceann Belka of Martin, Pat Dill of Martin; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Myrtle Bultman of Moline; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton in 1976; a daughter, Pauline in 1956; 2 sisters and 1 brother. A graveside service was held Saturday at Maplewood cemetery, Hopkins Township. WOODFORD -- Hazel (Ryno) Woodford, aged 96, of Wayland, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Earl Ryno, Earl Killmer & Russell Woodford. She and her husband Earl Ryno were the owners of Wayland Dahila Gardens. Surviving are her nieces, Vonda Crane & Lois Mauchmar; great nieces, Margo Halloran & Vicki (Bruce) Schwartz; great nephews, Jeff (Brenda) Goorhouse, Rick (Terri) Mauchmar & Randy Mauchmar; stepchildren, Jean (Wells S.) Marshall of Ill., Marion (Virginia) Killmer of Mn., & Sharon (Irwin) Raskin of Fla.; also several step-grandchildren. Funeral & Committal Services were held Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Charles Kutz-Marks officiating. Interment in Elmwood cemetery. Anyone wishing may make memorial contributions to Allegan Co. Wings of Hope Hospice or Wayland Area Ambulance. LININGTON -- Fred J. Linington, aged 71, of Wayland, passed away, Thursday morning June 7, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Helen; three sons, Denny (Mary) Linington, Tom Linington, Scott (Cathy) Linington; daughter, Penny (Gordon) Hudson; thirteen grandchildren & ten great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Betty Meconis; brother-in-law, Robert (Ella) Schwander; also several nieces & nephews. Funeral Services were held Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Stacy Minger of Wayland United Methodist Church officiating. Interment in Elmwood cemetery. CVRK -- Mary A. Cvrk, aged 93, of Wayland Twp., passed away Sunday, June 3, 2001. She is survived by her very dear friend, Donna Schuber, of Illinois; two great nieces, Sandy Thorstenson of Illinois, Cheryl Hurst of Wisconsin; great nephew, Dan Greben of WI; three great-great nieces, Cara, Helen, Lisa; three great-great nephews, Brad, Matthew & Marcus. Mary was preceded in death by her brother, George, in 1984 and a niece, Georgiann Greben. Scripture Service was held Wednesday at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday at St. Therese Church with Fr. Gary Pamment at Celebrant. Interment Elmwood cemetery. Arrangements by Archer, Hampel & Kubiak, Wayland Chapel.

NICHOLAS -- Gene B. Nicholas, aged 57, of Warrenville, Ill., formerly of Leighton Twp., passed away Thursday, May 31, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Katie; son, Darcy (Mary) Nicholas; 2 grandchildren, Erica and Dylan; parents, Edwin & Delores Belka; brothers, Jerry Nicholas, Barry (Terri) Belka; sisters, Bonnie (Robert) Rogers, Rita (Bill) Martin. Gene was preceded in death by a son, Quinton in 1992. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the funeral home with Fr. Gary Pamment of St. Therese Church officiating. Interment Hooker cemetery. BUSH -- Dorothy J. Bush of Gobles, formerly of Wayland, age 81, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2001 at Metron of Bloomingdale. Mrs. Bush was born Dec. 28, 1919 in Ray, IN, resided in the Wayland area for over 30 years moving to Gobles in 1994. She was a member of the Wayland VFW Auxiliary #7581. Surviving are two daughters, Constance Hicks of Gobles; Jannette Bush of Grand Rapids; seven grandchildren, Dealynne Sparks, Kim (Bruce) Riffle, Amy Bush, Beth Bush, Junsun (Heather) Bush, Ken Hicks, Tracy (Jason) Kasinger; eight great grandchildren; a sister, Virginia DeBoer of Mattawan; a brother, Ned Donovan of Vicksburg; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.W. Bush. Funeral services were held Thursday at the Gobles Chapel, D. L. Miller Funeral Home. Pastor Kimberlee Hancox officiated. Interment Robinson cemetery. Family suggest memorials to the Wayland VFW Auxiliary #7581 or Children International.

FELTENBARGER -- Arthur Clyde Feltenbarger, aged 71, of Dorr, passed away at Spectrum-Downtown Friday afternoon, May 18, 2001. He retired from Thornapple Valley after 48 years, was an avid outdoorsman & Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Bertha (Texer) Feltenbarger; two daughters, Ardith (Tom) Hooker of Wayland, Carol (Larry) Brinks of Dorr; son, Thomas (Cathy) Feltenbarger of Dorr; eight grandchildren & two great-grandchildren. Mr. Feltenbarger was preceded in death by his parents, Otto & Cleo Feltenbarger; sister, Bea Tubergen & brother, Everett Feltenbarger. Funeral Services were held Tuesday at the Dorr Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Reeves of Burnips United Methodist Church officiating. Interment in Burnips cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Burnips United Methodist Church memorial fund. Arrangements by Archer, Hampel & Kubiak, Dorr Chapel.

WASHBURN -- Bertha M. Washburn, aged 76, of Wayland, passed away at her home, Wednesday, May 23, 2001. She is survived by her children, Kenneth (Barb) Washburn of Allegan, Jack (Kathy) Washburn of Shelbyville, Linda (Bill) Firlik of Wayland, Gayle (Jerry) Clement of Caledonia, Sandy (Glenn) Haywood of Bradley, Clair (Don) Black of Shelbyville, Cindy (Larry) Keyzer of Allegan; 21 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Bernice (Penbrook) Hazen of Martin, Geraldine Demereck of OK, Helen Waldo of Climax, Verne (Doris) Carpenter of NM; also many nieces and nephews. Bertha was preceded in death by six brothers & sisters. She was married to Clair Washburn who preceded her in death in 1997. Mrs. Washburn was a member of St. Therese Church, VFW Ladies Auxiliary where she enjoyed playing euchre, Elks Lodge of Grand Rapids. Bert was an avid sports person especially for bowling and golf. Bertha was a business person with the Northway Grill and the Auction House Cafe for 30 plus years. Scripture Service was held Friday at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Therese Church with Fr. Gary Pamment as celebrant. Interment E. Martin cemetery. Memorials may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice. TEW -- Emilee Mae Tew, 22 months, loving daughter of Jonathan & Debra (Hitzler) Tew died Wednesday May 9, 2001 at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo. Surviving along with her parents are grandparents, Jane & Roger Simpson, Ron Hitzler and Brenda DeHaan, Jim & Bert Tew; great grandparents, Bud Wuis, Robert & Dorothy Hitzler, all of Hopkins; aunts and uncles, Jim & Wendy Tew, Gary & Jennifer Teed, Julie Baird and Rick Schmidt, Dan & Ronna Bonga, Dave Simpson, Jason & Stacy Simpson, Jody Simpson, Mike & Carrie Harris, Dan & Jody Murphy; cousins, James, Carrie, Ashley, Megan, Jessica, Kelsey, Andy, Jordan, Allie, Tony, Alison, Rachel and many other great aunts, uncles and cousins. Services were held Saturday 2:00pm at the Hopkins Community Reformed Church. Pastor Tim Crump from the First Church of the Nazarene, Kalamazoo officiating. Interment Maplewood cemetery, Hopkins Township. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene, Kalamazoo. Arrangements by Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel.

FOCKLER -- Bette (VanWeelden) Fockler, Gun Lake. Bette's life began December 8, 1926 in Holland, Michigan, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Slowinski) VanWeelden. She was a member of the little country church, Shelbyville United Methodist near her home, where she was involved in youth work. She was active in Federated Women's Clubs, and had served as state chairwoman. Bette taught in Grand Rapids and Wayland elementary schools for 35 years. In addition to her teaching, she had a 35 year career as a writer and dramatist. During her drama career, she gave one woman shows portraying very powerful women that she admired, including Corrie Ten Boom and Eleanor Roosevelt. Her dramatizations were also used as a testimony to her faith. To the end of her life she delighted in her card ministry, her artistic endeavors enchanting all fortunate enough to be a recipient. Her family includes her sister, Jane Wisniewski of Wayland, nieces and nephews, former students and members of her audiences, and many good friends, in particular her beloved cat Hairy. Bette died Sunday, April 29, 2001 in Hastings, and was preceded in death by her husband Carl in 1994, who had served as City Manager of Wayland from 1975-1987. A memorial service will be announced and held at a later date. Please remember her by reading to a child, watching the grace of Canadian Geese in flight and by giving thanks to God for the beauty of a spring day or the colors of autumn. Cherish one another and laugh often. Memorial gifts may be made to a charity of your choice or the Wayland Area EMS (an organization spearheaded by her husband, Carl). LYNEMA -- Albert Lynema, aged 88, of Shelbyville, passed away and went to be with his Lord, Saturday, April 28, 2001. He is survived by his daughters, Linda (Warren) Hawley of Schoolcraft, Marjean (Ric) Fritz of Muskegon; grandchildren, James Fritz and Katie Fritz; brothers and sisters, Johanna Meyaard, John (Bertha) Lynema, Esther Schaafsma, Betty (Rolland) Earle, Gerrit (Grace) Lynema, Jr.; sister-in-law, Bertha Lynema. Albert was preceded in death by his wife, Dorcia, in 1996; brothers, Cornelius and Jacob; sister, Dorothy Tuinstra. Mr. Lynema retired from General Motors and McNess Company Home Sales. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII where he earned a Purple Heart. Funeral Services were held Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor William Bills of Shelbyville United Methodist Church officiating. Interment Elmwood cemetery. KAUB -- Richard H. Kaub, age 83 of Hastings, died Thursday, April 19, 2001 at Laurels of Sandy Creek in Wayland. He was born June 23, 1917 in Chicago, the son of Henry and Frances (Winkel) Kaub. After he graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1936 he went to Muskegon to work for his uncles at Highland Dairy and Buttercup Bakery. He also had his own coin machine business. He went into the Air Force (World War II) as a mechanic. After his discharge, he worked at Teledyne Continental Motors and had his own business 'Modern Builders'. He built over 300 homes in the Muskegon area. He was a member of the Building Association, CIO Muskegon Union #113, American Legion Post #297 - Ravenna. He also enjoyed membership in the Kalamazoo Mall Chorus, and the Kalamazoo Genealogy Society. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Muskegon and also Emmanuel Lutheran of Kalamazoo. He married Betty Hoogstraten Smith in February of 1989. He has been a resident of Laurels of Sandy Creek Care Facility in Wayland for the past 2 1/2 years. He was preceded in death by his first wife Luella, parents, grandson, John Kaub, and sister Helen Doolittle. He is survived by his wife, Betty of Hastings, children, Karen (Bernard) Wickstrom of Muskegon, MI, Suzette Kaub of Montague, MI, Diane Kaub of Bangor, MI and Lori (Keith) Miller of Kissimmee, Florida, and sons Alan Kaub of Virginia and Brian (Debbie) Kaub of Scotts Valley, California, 4 step-children, Ann (Robert) Roobol of Hastings, MI Daniel (Diane) Smith of Nashville, MI, David Smith and Jeffrey (Catherine) Smith of Augusta, MI. Also surviving are Grandchildren, Debbie (Dale) Roest, Michael Wickstrom, Briana Miller, Kristie, Kathy, Kevin, Adam and Kelly Kaub, step-grandchildren; Arie, Andrew and Aaron Roobol, and Joey, Garret, Abby Elsa and Joshua Smith and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at Hope United Methodist Church in Hastings, Rev. Richard Moore officiated. Burial at Fort Custer National cemetery in Augusta with full military honors. Arrangements by The Girrbach Funeral Home in Hastings.

MATES -- Rita L. Mates, aged 89, of Gun Lake and formerly of Kalamazoo, passed away at home, Sunday, April 22, 2001. She is survived by her brothers-in-law, Kenneth Matecki & friend Jerri Yetter, Edmund (Caroline) Matecki; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Richter & Barbara Miller, very good friend, Elda Bigelow; also several nieces & nephews. Mrs. Mates was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Matecki in 1978 & sister-in-law, Doris Mates. Parish Rosary was held Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church with Fr. Gary Pamment as Celebrant. Interment in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Wayland Area Ambulance or charity of your choice. Arrangements by Archer, Hampel & Kubiak, Wayland Chapel

TRUDEAU -- Mrs. Virginia Trudeau, aged 78 entered into the kingdom of Heaven Monday, April 16, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph; her parents, Vane & Josephine Burgoyne and her brother, Richard. She is survived by her daughter, Judy; her brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Sister Rita Mary Trudeau of OH, Carl & Pat Trudeau of FL, Paul & Penny Trudeau of MO; and many nieces & nephews. Virginia was a wonderful wife, mother and friend. She was a past president of the Aquinas Collage League and a member of the Wayland Garden Club. She and her daughter, Judy, actively raised and promoted Morgan horses for over 40 years at Oldtyme Farm. She was a familiar sight at the Caledonia Elementary School helping in her daughter's room, providing treats, and lending a helping hand whenever needed. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. David LeBlanc celebrant. Interment Elmwood cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Michigan or Holy Family Catholic Church Building Fund. Arrangements by Caledonia Funeral Home.
