He is survived by his wife, Teresa; sons, David Johnson & Martin Johnson; daughters, Marie Johnson & Crystal Johnson; stepson, Soney Walton; several grandchildren; his mother, Mae Anderson; brothers & sisters, Carole (Robert) Dexter, Betty (Ronald) Shooks, Chuck Anderson, Jim (Donna) Anderson & Jean (Bill) Goldner; also several nieces & nephews. Memorial Services will be at 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 1, at Ideal Park Christian Reformed Church at 320 56th Street SW with Pastor Don Graham officiating. RITTENHOUSE -- JoAnn Rittenhouse, aged 50, of Dorr, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2003, following a courageous 2 year battle with cancer and went to be with her Lord. She is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Brian (Kim) Rittenhouse, Karen (Carrol) Belka, Brenda Rittenhouse; five grandchildren, Nicolas, Adam, Tyler, Morgan and Kayleigh; her mother, Lois Maddox and special friend, Howard Hasman; father & mother-in-law, Robert & Alida R. Rittenhouse, Sr.; brothers & sisters, Jeanne (Jim) Bayles, Jerome (Marilyn) McGraw, Nancy (Bill) McClellan, Robert (Susan) Maddox, James (Chris) Maddox, Andy (Chris) Maddox, Thomas (Ann) Maddox, Sue (Brad) Owens, Phillip Maddox, Dede (Bob) Briggs; special friends, Johanna & Ron Spoors; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. JoAnne was preceded in death by her father, Harland; brother, Doug. Funeral Services were held Friday at Corinth Reformed Church with Rev. Warren Burgess officiating. RYBISKI -- Harry Rybiski, aged 85, of Wayland, passed away at St. Mary's Medical Center, Friday, January 17, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy; children, Mary Ann Rybiski and Robert Rybiski; grandchildren, Jon (Shannon) Rybiski, Debra (Ken) Wendling, Brett Rybiski and Shannon Rybiski; great granddaughter, Sierra Rybiski; also one sister, Virginia Staworek. Mr. Rybiski was a member of the Wayland VFW Post 7581 & Knights of Columbus Council 4036. The K of C Rosary was held Sunday at the Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Therese Church with Fr. Gary Pamment as Celebrant. Military Graveside Service was under the Auspices of Wayland VFW Post 7581 at Elmwood cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Therese Education Fund or Wayland Ambulance. Arrangements made by Archer, Hampel & Kubiak, Wayland Chapel.

MILHEIM -- Eldon E. (Shorty) Milheim, aged 80, of Wayland, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Catherine; sister, Edith Butler; nephews, Larry Butler, Rollin Butler & Robert Milheim; niece, Rexine (Charles) Finn. He was preceded in death by his brother, Howard Milheim & infant daughter, Dawn Marie. Eldon was a veteran of World War II, serving in the USS Navy from May 1941 to October 1945 and participated in the Guadalcanal Campaign aboard the USS San Juan. He was a life member of the R.C. Hatheway Lodge 387 F & A.M., Wayland V.F.W. Post 7581, American Legion Post 258 (Furniture City) & Disabled American Veterans Chapter #2. Also past Chef de Gare of Forty & Eight 161, USS San Juan Shipmates, Guadalcanal Campaign Veterans, Grand Valley Cap 'n Ballers & F.O.P. South Kent Lodge #134. Eldon retired from the Wayland Police Department with 28 years of service to the community. R.C.. Hatheway Lodge #387 of Caledonia Masonic service was held Tuesday at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services were held on Wednesday with Fr. Gary Pamment officiating. Military Graveside Services were held at Elmwood cemetery under the Auspices of the Wayland V.F.W. Post 7581. Memorial contributions may be made to Wayland Area Ambulance or Visiting Nurses & Hospice of Grand Rapids. Arrangements made by Archer, Hampel & Kubiak, Wayland Chapel.

MOSER, Mary A. Moser, aged 45, of Martin, passed away, Tuesday, January 7, 2003. She is survived by her daughter, Memorie Moser; grandson, Andrew Boss; brothers and sisters, Diane Caywood, Don Snooks, Sharon Bacon, Marilyn Brilhart, Oren Moser, Robert Moser; special nephew, Justin Moser; also several other nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew & Betty Moser; sister, Lila Wright; brother, Richard Moser. Mary enjoyed cooking and being a part of her church community. Memorial services were held Saturday at the Funeral Home with Fr. Gary Pamment officiating. Her cermains will be interred at SS. Cyrill & Methodius cemetery. Arrangements made by Archer, Hampel & Kubiak Funeral Home.

MAYNARD: Wilton J. "Bill" Maynard, aged 80, of Wayland, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Nellie (Oliver) Maynard; children, Scott (Kathryn) Maynard, Janis (James) Drubert, Brian (Dana) Maynard, Linda Lee Richards; grandchildren, Dawn (Ken) Kunard, Jason (Tara) Maynard, Nicole (Jammie) Klinge, Brett Maynard, Della Richards, Lance Richards, Alexis Drubert; brother, Justus (Betty) Maynard. Mr. Maynard was a member of Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, Wayland VFW Post 7581 and R.C. Hatheway Masonic Lodge 387 of Caledonia. Funeral Services were held Saturday at the Funeral Home with Rev. Wendell Stine officiating and the Masonic Lodge participating. Mr. Maynard's cremains will be interred at Fort Custer National cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, 300 Monroe NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49505. LUCKEN -- Mr. Dan C. Lucken, aged 50, of Kentwood, entered into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, April 19, 2003. He was employed by the Kentwood Public Schools Food Service Department. Dan was also heavily involved with the Kentwood AYSO (American Youth Soccer Organization) for 11 years as a coach, referee, worked on the fields, coordinated teams and set up goals. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia and Charles Lucken. Surviving are his wife, Laura; his sons, Jeremy, Jason and Jeffrey; his brother and sister William (Caroline) Stewart, Wendy (Charles) Huizinga; his mother-in-law, Laurel Kerner; his father-in-law, Robert (Marilyn) Kerner; his brothers-in-law, Ronald (Myra) Kerner, Patrick (Jodi) Kerner; several nieces and nephews and many special friends. Funeral Services were held Friday at Stroo Funeral Home. Interment at Pine Hill cemetery. In lieu of flowers, with much gratitude, contributions can be made to the Lucken Children's Fund

GREEN -- Ted L., 74, of Portage, Michigan, formerly of Wayland. Ted Green will always be remembered as a quiet guy who was bright and successful but hadn't assumed any airs. He was born on February 19, 1929 in West Plains, Missouri and faithfully served his country in the US Army Air Force from 1946-1949. After his military tour, he enrolled in college at the University of Missouri. He worked at Pet Milk Co. for 38 years, managing several of their locations including Wayland, MI, where he served as labor negotiator. He was active in the community serving on the village board and as mayor pro team. He retired as Vice President of Production. He was a member of the Masons in Kentucky. He and his first wife, Donna Blue Green were married 17 years before her death in 1985. He married Charlotte Tully on July 20, 1996. They spent winters in Florida and together they enjoyed traveling. Ted died on March 28, 2003 in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. His family includes his wife, Charlotte, a sister-in-law Edna Green of Florida, five stepchildren, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A celebration of Life Service will be held at the Rupert, Durham, Marshall & Gren Funeral Home, Portage Chapel at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2003. Ted's family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Ted will be buried at the Elmwood cemetery in Wayland. KLOMPARENS -- Mr. Vernon E. Klomparens, age 66, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2003. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Fanny Klomparens. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Margaret; children, Jeff (Renee), Steve (Shawn), David (Sharon), Kathy Wright; grandchildren, Brad, Courtney, Mallory, Jennifer, Brent and Lindsay Klomparens, Becky and Zack Wright; brothers, Ralph (Virginia), Ken (Carol); sisters, Marge (Len) Berkenpas, Shirley McClure, Helen Klomparens; several nieces, nephews and friends; and their loving horse, Kisses. Vern was a Little League Coach for many years coaching at Pinery Park in Wyoming. After retiring from General Motors, he worked for the last 3 1/2 years at the Lovin' Oven Bakery in Wayland. A special thanks to the staff at Wayland Ambulance for their wonderful care and dedication. Funeral Services were held Friday at Ronan-Vanderpool-Stegenga Funeral Chapel on Division with Pastor Nancy Zerban officiating. Interment at Elmwood cemetery in Wayland. In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Wayland Ambulance. Arrangements made by Ronan-Vanderpool-Stegenga Funeral Chapel, Wyoming.

SLATER -- Paul R. Slater, aged 52, of Dorr, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Karen; son, Justin (Tracy) Slater; daughter, Melanie; grandson, Braden; sister, Sharon (Jon) Johnson, brothers, Gary (Judy) Slater, David (Rhonda) Slater; father & mother-in-law, Walter and Marilynn Fifelski; godfather, Joe Iciek, several brothers and sisters-in-law; also many nieces and nephews. Paul was a Vietnam War Veteran and owner of Slater Enterprises Inc. and Dorr Mini Storage. Knights of Columbus Council #4036 and the Parish prayed the rosary on Tuesday at the Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday at St. Mary's Visitation Parish with Fr. Richard Altine as celebrant. Interment Dorr cemetery. Memorials may be made to Pathways. BENEDICT -- Frances Eunice Benedict, aged 98 of Wayland, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2003. She is survived by her sons, Norman (Alice) Benedict, David (Sherry) Benedict; daughter-in-law, Donna Benedict; seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; son, Willard; grandson, Tim; great grandchildren, Miracle, Beatrice, Shane; two sisters and one brother. Funeral Services were held Monday at Calvary Church of Wayland with Pastor Michael Hasper officiating. Interment Elmwood cemetery. Memorials may be made to Calvary Church or Wayland Area Ambulance. Arrangements made by Archer, Hampel & Kubiak, Wayland Chapel.

STALLARD -- James Randall Stallard of Plainwell, MI, was born February 25, 1961 in Grand Rapids, to Larry & Carole (Laninga) Stallard. Jim graduated from Wayland High School before entering the work force. He held several jobs over the years, but worked mainly for his father as a pavement contractor. Jim's family includes his parents Larry & Carole Stallard of Dorr; son, Eric of Wayland; sisters, Cathie & Rick Kroll of Dorr and Barb & Doug Helmholdt of Dorr; brothers, Dave & Julie Stallard of Dorr and Tim Stallard of Dorr; 9 nieces & nephews and many cousins, aunts and uncles. Jim died at his home in Plainwell on April 2, 2003. A Celebration of Life Service was held at the Rupert, Durham, Marshall & Gren Funeral Home, Plainwell Chapel, on Friday, April 4, 2003 at 10 am, officiated by Pastor Calvin Compagner of Friendship Christian Reformed Church. A committal service was held Monday, April 7, 2003 at the Dorr cemetery

GREEN -- Ted L., 74, of Portage, died March 28 at Bert Fish Medical Center in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. An Air Force Veteran, Mr. Green retired as Vice President of production for Pet Milk Company, St. Louis, Missouri. He was a Mason in Kalamazoo and enjoyed reading, finances, gardening and walking. He was a world wide traveler who recently spent part of his time in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Mr. Green is survived by his wife, Charlotte Tully Green, Portage and New Smyrna Beach, sister-in-law, Edna Green, Palm Coast, Florida, stepchildren, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews in Michigan, Florida, Georgia, Ohio and Missouri. The family suggests memorial donations to the American Heart Association, 555 W Granada Blvd., Suite A-1, Ormond Beach, FL 32174 or the American Diabetes Association, 1101 N Lake Destiny Rd., Suite 415, Maitland, FL 32751. Arrangements made by Settle-Wilder Funeral Home and Cremation Service, New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

HARTL -- Elsie F. Hartl, aged 74, of Wayland, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2003. She is survived by her son, Jimmie(Debra) Hartl Sr.; grandchildren, Jimmie Jr., Jennifer & Jessica Hartl; brothers, Joe ( Violet) Hartl & Bill Hartl; also many nieces & nephews.
