Kathryn "Kathie" Skoglund
NORWAY - Kathryn 'Kathie' Skoglund, 76, of Norway, died Wednesday July 18, 2007, at Marquette General Hospital.
She was born on Oct. 26, 1930, in Kingsford, daughter of the late Francis and Grace (Dropp) Ferris. She graduated from Kingsford High School in 1948.
Kathie married
Ralph Skoglund on December 15, 1950, at the original First Presbyterian Church on the corner of Carpenter and Brown Street. In her early years, she enjoyed retouching photographs for Ferris Photo Studio, and in recent years, she enjoyed her trips to the casino, where she was usually very lucky. She was a Packer fan, a Nascar fan, and was always up on the latest news. Kathy took great pleasure in the family that she and Ralph built together, her children, grandchildren, as well as the many friends she made over the years. There was always a smile on her face for those she met, and an occasion that called for a gathering of family and friends was a joy to her, especially if it included a good meal.
Kathie is survived, loved, and missed by her husband of nearly 57 years, Ralph of Norway; children, Glen Skoglund of Norway, Patsy (David) Carnahan of Felch, Nancy (Brian) Finendale of Felch, and Steve (Vickie) Skoglund of Norway; grandchildren, David Hilberg, Miranda Skoglund-Repp, Michelle Plante-Olson, Scott Carnahan, Casey Carnahan, Andrew Finendale, Bailey Finendale, Whitney Bales, Cody Bales; great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Repp, Olivia Kraemer, Brianna Olson, and Kyla Olson; a sister, Adelaide (Bob) Marceau of Harvey;a dear cousin, Mina Hagerty; in-laws, Vivian Ferris, Jim and Ruth Skoglund, Richard and Alice Skoglund and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, a sister, Grace Tregillis, and two brothers, Jon and Richard Ferris.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2007 at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. Friday, July 27, at the funeral home. Rev. Bill Jacobson will officiate.
A memorial will be established in her memory, but flowers are also welcome.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.
Elaine R. Canavera
Niagara - Elaine R. Canavera, 93, of Niagara, died peacefully Tues. July 17, 2007 at Maryhill Manor in Niagara. She was born on January 24, 1914 in Iron River, MI the daughter of the late Larry and Lettie (Brisbine) Watt.
Elaine graduated from Niagara High School in 1932. Elaine worked for Dr. McCormick and Dr. Donovan. She enjoyed gardening, farming, reading, writing, and had belonged to a local writers association.
Elaine was an active member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and a member of Christian Mothers. Elaine also volunteered for over thirty years at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center and at Maryhill Manor. She was a great supporter of education and served on the Niagara School Board. As a lover of animals, Elaine had many animals of her own and was an animal care advocate.
She married
Joseph Canavera on July 6, 1935 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara. He preceded her in death in 1984.
Elaine is survived by three children Barb (Gary) Liebau of Niagara, Father Larry Canavera of Menasha, and Clifford (Debra) Canavera of Brandenburg, KY, seven grandchildren Joseph, Catherine, Mary and Jim (Gail) Liebau; Susan (Tim) Whitstone; and Megan and Kyle Canavera, five great grandchildren Joe Jr., Anthony, and Franci Liebau; and Gareth and Lily Whitstone.
Elaine was preceded in death by one sister Florence Formolo and one great grandson Denver Liebau.
Visitation will be Sat. from 9:30-11:30 am at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara. Funeral services will be at 11:30 at the church. Father Larry Canavera will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in the Niagara cemetery.
Elaine's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Friends of Haiti Fund.

David L. Crosslan
GOODMAN, Wis. - David L. Crosslan, 64, of Goodman, died Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
He was born on Dec.13, 1942, in Lansing, son of the late Harold and Edna (Hervey) Crosslan.
He married
the former Sandra Perron in Iron River on March 14, 1970.
David worked for the Goodman Mill for many years, and he retired in 2004. He loved camping with his dog, Thor. He had a great love for the outdoors and being in the woods. He liked to play smear, and collected coins and swords.
David is survived by his wife of more than 37 years, Sandra; children, Gregory Ames of Lansing, Zita Leask of Iron Mountain, Heather Crosslan of Iron Mountain, and Ernest Crosslan of Iron Mountain; and grandchildren, Hannah, Kayla, Jennifer, and Joseph.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Crosslan; a granddaughter, Desiree Crosslan; and a brother, Melvin Crosslan.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
The funeral service will follow at 12 noon with Fr. Joseph Gouin to officiate.
Burial will be in the Goodman-Armstrong Creek cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory.

Mavis A. Paquette
KINGSFORD - Mavis A. Paquette, 82, of Kingsford, died Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.
She was born on Feb. 3, 1925, the daughter of the late William and Edith Martin.
Mavis enjoyed knitting, crocheting, rug making, and giving her creations to others. She also enjoyed going to the casino to play nickel slots. Together with her husband, Mavis built and remodeled homes. She will always be remembered for making the best tasting pasties.
She married
the love of her life, Robert "Tyke" Paquette on Aug. 4, 1942, in Iron Mountain. This marriage resulted in 62 years of devotion for each other until Tyke's death on July 5, 2005.
Mavis is survived by a daughter, Sandra Gustafson of Kingsford and her children, Wendee (Don) Pete of Spread Eagle, Wis., Tracy (Mace) Mattison of Amberg, Wis., Scott Londree of Iron Mountain, Melissa (Bob) Ashburn of Iron Mountain, Deanna Johnson of Chicago, and Holly (James) Gray of Peshtigo, Wis., a daughter, Linda Chapman of Kingsford and her daughter, Jodi (Gary) Pearson of Aurora, Wis., a daughter, Roberta Roberts of Aurora and her sons, Jesse LaBreton of Kingsford, Joshua Pietrantonio of Aurora, Wis. and Adam Valeski of Arizona; a son, Gary (Gina) of Aurora and a son, Richard of Iron Mountain; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; one brother, Thomas (June) Martin of New Berlin, Wis. and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill, Vernon, and Will Martin, one half-brother, Clarence Martin, and two half-sisters, Evelyn Eckloff and Dorothy Stoos.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at Tondin-Ross and Freeman Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family.

Roger J. Losiniecki
NORWAY - Roger J. Losiniecki, 63, of Norway, died Friday, July 13, 2007, at his home.
He was born on Feb.18, 1944, in Milwaukee, son of the late Sylvester and Viola (Gurgall) Losiniecki and has been a resident of this area his entire life. Roger worked for many years as an equipment operator for Gerald Dugree.
He loved logging and being in the woods.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; sons, Roger (Becky) Losiniecki Jr. of Kingsford and Robert Losiniecki of Iron Mountain; daughters, Penny (Don) Kurtz of Crystal Falls, Amy (Brian) Hall of Iron Mountain, Jean Losiniecki of Iron Mountain, Emily Losiniecki of Norway and Barbara (Matt) Mathias of Centrailia, Ill.; a brother, John Losiniecki and a sister, Rosemary Losiniecki, both of Milwaukee; grandchildren, Brandi, Sarah, Jennifer and Stephanie Losiniecki, Nicole and Kyle Kurtz, Alexander Hall, Kyleena Jacques, Ryan and Meagan Mathias and a great grandson, Tyler Sleeter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sylvia Losiniecki.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Wallace Anderson will officiate.

Betty J. Secrist
BREITUNG TOWNSHIP - Betty J. Secrist, 72, of Breitung Township, died peacefully in the loving care of her family on Friday, July 13, 2007, in Shawano.
She was born Nov. 28, 1934, in Iron Mountain, the daughter of the late Clifford and Doris Swanson. Betty was a 1952 graduate of Kingsford High School.
She married
Marvin Secrist on July 28, 1956, in Iron Mountain. Betty was an active member of First Covenant Church and spent her life as a homemaker and mother.
Betty is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, Marvin; two daughters and their spouses, Laurie and Mark Schindler of Shawano and Michelle and Rich Menard of Iron Mountain; four grandchildren, Chad (Sarah) Schindler, Kari Schindler, Derek Menard and Jacob Menard; a sister, Bonnie (Marvin) Herzog; two brothers, Clifford (Sharon) Swanson, Raymond Swanson; aunt; uncle, nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and sisters-in-law, Judy Swanson and Joyce Swanson.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday at First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will follow at 11a.m. at the church with Pastor Peter Erickson officiating.
Burial will be in Dickinson County Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund will be established in her memory at First Covenant Church of Iron Mountain.

Elwood "Sonny" Walstrom
NIAGARA, Wis. - Elwood 'Sonny' Walstrom, 56, of County Road O, Niagara, died Thursday, July 12, 2007, at his home following a long illness.
He was born Nov. 9, 1950, in Norway, son of the late Elwood and Blanche (Cunningham) Walstrom. He was a life long resident of the area and an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
On Aug. 30, 1985, Elwood married
Darcy Duchaine in Quinnesec. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid country music fan.
Elwood is survived by his wife, Darcy; two sons, Elwood Walstrom of Menominee and Bradley (Tamara) Vertz of Green Bay, Wis.; one daughter, Ellen (Derick) Silvester of Menominee; eight grandchildren; a very special great niece, McKenna; seven sisters, Marilyn Sam, Waneta (Paul) Fayas, Barbara (Clarence) Bennett, Lois Walstrom, Eva (Farrend) Ethington, and Sharon (Alan) Weber, all in this area, and Tina (Donald) Schoolfield of Virginia; three sisters-in-law, Cindy (Paul) Campbell, Judy (John) Wicklund, and Caryn Carlson, all of this area; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Verna Miron, and one brother-in-law, Jim Sam.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday, at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.

James P. Danielson
IRON MOUNTAIN - James P. Danielson, 69, of 841 East B St., Iron Mountain, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 21, 1937, in Burlington, Iowa, son of the late Edward and Mildred (Wolfe) Danielson. He graduated from Cotter High School in Winona, Minn. in 1955, and from Marquette University in Milwaukee with a degree in business and teaching.
Jim married
Sharon Abts on Aug. 4, 1962, in Fountain City, Wis. They had lived in various places throughout his career and moved to Iron Mountain in July of 1978. He was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Church and the Pine Grove Country Club. Jim enjoyed golf and was an avid Packers fan. He mostly enjoyed spending time with his family and his three grandsons.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; his son, Tim (Lisa) Danielson of Oshkosh, Wis.; his daughter, Susan Danielson (Trent Schenk) of Farmington, Minn.; three grandsons, Maclain, Jack, and Nicholas Danielson; a sister-in-law, Devon Danielson and brother-in-law, Bud Kujak.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Jack Danielson, and by one sister, Donna Kujak.
Friends may call on Friday, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at St. Mary and St. Joseph Church.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday at the church. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in the St. Mary's cemetery in Fountain City.
Pallbearers will be Bob Belongie, Ron Penegor, Duane Ryan, Frank Krzoska, Paul Kujak, and John Wolfe.

E. Lorraine Sternhagen
FENCE, Wis. - Lorraine Sternhagen, 82, of Fence, died Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.
She was born on July 1, 1925 in Fence, the daughter of the late Theodore and Edna (Olsen) Berklund.
Lorraine graduated from Goodman High School. She was a lifelong resident of Fence and was a member of the Fence Bible Church. Lorraine liked gardening, embroidering and making braided rugs.
She married
Charles Sternhagen on Sept. 12, 1946, in Fence. The couple enjoyed 60 years of marriage.
Lorraine is survived by her husband, Charles; three daughters Greta (Joseph) Sato of Homestead, Wis., Kay (Frank) Weaver of Iron Mountain, and Linda (Don Schneider) of Kingsford; one brother, Ted (Betty) Berklund of Kingsford; five grandchildren, Rachel Sato, Vance (Bonnie) Sato, Sandy (Roger) Millan, Ed Paul (Tara) Millan, and Tori (Steve) Morin, and four great- grandchildren, Tylor Balfanz, Brett and Beau Millan, and Jarrod Millan.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Fence Bible Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at the church. Pastor Tim Smith will officiate.
Burial will be in Fence cemetery.
