Mildred F. Phillips

IRON MOUNTAIN - Mildred F. Phillips, 91, of 1115 W. Hughitt St. in Iron Mountain, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home.

Eileen L. LeRoy

KINGSFORD - Eileen L. LeRoy, 86, of 232 Maple St., Kingsford, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007.

Eileen was born Sept. 10, 1921, in Racine, Wis., daughter of the late Walter and Rose (Schlicht) Gothe.

She married Leo R. LeRoy on Dec. 25, 1939, in Kingsford. Eileen was a member of American Martyrs Catholic Church, where she served on the Ladies Guild and was a member of St. Teresa's Circle. She loved Christmas and had an extensive Santa collection. Eileen also enjoyed gardening, playing cards, reading, spending time at camp and with family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 68 years, Leo; two sons, Gary (Reylene) LeRoy of Spooner, Wis. and Leo R. Jr. (Linda) LeRoy of Saginaw, Mich.; three daughters, Mary (David) Sgrecci of Iron Mountain, Suzanne (Peter) Matiash of Waunakee, Wis., and Gloria (Robert) Fugere of Menominee; a sister, Geraldine Weber of Aurora, Wis.; two sisters-in-law, Vivian Gregory and Peggy Gothe; 15 grandchildren, David Sgrecci (fiance, Jackie), Carol (Steven) Havens, Angela (Darren) Anderson, Joseph Sgrecci, Anthony Sgrecci (Richard Harrison), Michael (Sue) LeRoy, Aaron (Karmen) LeRoy, Sara LeRoy, Tracy (Scott) Ocel, Nicholas (Jodi) Matiash, Michael (Angela) Matiash, Leo (Kathrine) LeRoy, Michele (Paul) Geyer, Karl (Sheryl) Fugere and Jessica (Brian) Beaman; 21 great-grandchildren and one more on the way.

Eileen was preceded in death by four brothers, Walter, Eugene, Gerald, Robert Gothe and one sister, Beverly Thompson.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford.

Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.

Burial will be in cemetery Park.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory.

The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Kingsford with the funeral arrangements.

Louis F. Cavaiani

IRON MOUNTAIN - Louis Frank Cavaiani, 90, of 712 N. Kimberly Ave. in Iron Mountain, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, at his home.

He was born on Nov. 8, 1917, in Iron Mountain, the son of the late Anton and Maria (Bianchini) Cavaiani.

Louis graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1936 and later attended the Postal Administration Vocational Institute. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theater from 1942 to 1946.

He married Lucille Kovachic on Oct. 7, 1950, in Iron Mountain. She preceded him in death on Feb. 19, 1993.

Louis worked for Ford Motor Co. in Kingsford and for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1982 after many years of service. Louis also was a self-employed carpenter. He enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, hunting, ice fishing, gardening, and camping. Louis was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Bishop Baraga Council 1585, AARP, and the National Association of Federal Employees.

He is survived by one brother, David (Etta) Cavaiani of Iron Mountain; one sister, Mary Lancour of Escanaba; a sister-in-law, Antonette Kovachic of Iron Mountain; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends, George and Angie Fornetti and Ed and Carol Wicklund.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard G. Cavaiani

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will officiate.

Burial will be in cemetery Park.

The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with arrangements.

Lenore M. "Lee" Jauquet

CHANNING - Lenore M. 'Lee' Jauquet, 82, of 845 Railroad Ave. in Channing, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2007, at the Beverly Living Center in Florence, Wis.

Lenore was born July 4, 1925, in Channing, daughter of the late Edwin and Mary (Duffena) Roell. She graduated from Channing High School in 1943 and was a lifelong resident of the area.

Lenore married Herbert 'Hub' Jauquet on Oct. 30, 1943, in Channing. They recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Channing. Lenore loved spending time at home surrounded by her family and enjoying her many hobbies. She inherited her mother's love of fabric and design spending many hours sewing. As a young wife, Lenore relied on her mother-in-law, Josephine, for sewing guidance. Gardening brought her into her yard during the summer months while sewing and interior decorating occupied her winters. Lenore will be remembered as a kind woman who always looked forward to celebrating her July 4th birthdays when family would gather.

She was incredibly strong, having survived cancer at age 39 and other illnesses along the way. Her husband was devoted to her, traveling 80 miles almost every day to visit her in the nursing home where Lenore spent the last 20 months of her life. She passed away as quietly as she lived, surrounded by loving family. She will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her husband, Hub; two sons, Herbert Jr. (Patricia) Jauquet of Kingsford and Michael (Laurie) Jauquet of Channing; three daughters, Mary Lenore Tassava of Hancock, Barbara (Greg) Kalinoski of Thief River Falls, Minn. and Roberta (James) Kluskens of Niagara, Wis.; three sisters-in-law, Imogene Roell, Gerry Bushman and Marion Finger; three brothers-in-law, Joe (Betty) Jauquet, Clem (Shirley) Jauquet and Jim (Joyce) Jauquet; 12 grandchildren; four great-granddaughters; several nieces and nephews; and a special lifelong friend, Donna Copeland.

Lenore was preceded in death by a son, Patrick; two brothers, Robert and Clarence Roell; and two sisters-in-law, Agnes Roell and Katie Flaherty.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at St. Rose Catholic Church in Channing.

Funeral services will follow at 12 noon at the church. Fr. Dick Mroz and Fr. Chris Gardiner will con-celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.

Burial will be in Channing cemetery.

Marion Nelson

IRON MOUNTAIN - Marion Nelson, 89, Formerly of N5697 M-95, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, at ManorCare Health and Rehabilitation Services.

Marion was born on April 16, 1918, in Randville, the daughter of the late William and Martha (Babcock) Edick. She was raised in this area.

She married Bernard 'Chick' Nelson on May 20, 1933. Marion moved to Detroit in 1936 and worked for the Chrysler Corporation at the Jefferson Assembly Plant. She retired Dec. 31, 1980, after 30 years with Chrysler. Marion and her husband returned to this area in 1982. Bernard 'Chick' preceded her in death on Oct. 2, 1992.

Marion was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She enjoyed going out to eat with the Lunch Bunch. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She had knitted afghans for all of her grandchildren. Marion loved to play bingo.

She is survived by her son, Robert (Charlotte) Nelson of Traverse City, Mich.; her daughter, Sharon Nelson of North Fort Myers, Fla.; grandchildren, Adam, Erick and Robyn Nelson, Loreen Nelson, Kimberly (Richard) Wirsing and Richard (Darlene) Zegarski; 11 great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins including a special niece, Darlene Waino of Beechwood.

She was also preceded in death by her half-sisters, Wilma Dams, Marietta Skog and Lorene Clark and half-brother, Lloyd Hawkins.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Erickson-Rcohon and Nash Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Debbie Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in cemetery Park.

The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the arrangements.

Olive M. Okler

NORWAY - Olive Mary Okler, 90, of Norway, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, at Maryhill Manor in Niagara.

She was born April 7, 1917, in Lake Linden, the daughter of the late Arthur and Ida (Bourdeau) Richards.

She married Mike Okler on July 27, 1934, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Hermansville. Mike preceded her in death on May 13, 1997.

Olive worked for Perfix Corp. and also at several area restaurants. She was an accomplished cook and homemaker who took great pride in being a wife and mother. She enjoyed watching her husband's baseball games, traveling out west on hunting trips, and visiting family and friends.

Olive was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Ladies Guild in Niagara and the Daughters of Isabella, Immaculate Conception Church in Iron Mountain.

Olive is survived by two sons, Richard Okler of Superior, Mich. and Donald (Bernice Erickson) Okler of Kingsford; one daughter, Jacqueline (Howard) Willis of Niagara; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clem Richards and Raymond Goodreau and two sisters, Irene Pirlot and Eleanor LeBeof.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Fr. Joseph Gouin will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.

Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.

Her family wishes to thank all Maryhill Manor staff members and physicians for the caring and compassionate care given to their mother.

Todd Richard Schoen

IRON MOUNTAIN - Todd Richard Schoen, 30, of Iron Mountain, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.

He was born Feb. 18, 1977, in Iron Mountain, the son of Stephen and Cathy (Warmuth) Schoen.

Todd graduated from Kingsford High School in 1995. He was a carpenter for Bruce Laing Builders. Todd was a dedicated father and enjoyed spending time with his son, Lucus. He also liked hunting and ice fishing.

Todd is survived by his son, Lucus; his parents, Steve and Cathy Schoen of Kingsford; his wife, Heather of Kingsford; his sister, Sara (Tracy) Horwitz of Upper Pine Creek; his brothers, Nick Schoen of Kingsford and Steve (Samai) Schoen Jr. of Belleville, Texas; his maternal grandparents, Frank and Mary Lu Warmuth of Kingsford; his paternal grandparents, Joyce and Bill Brew of Norway; his niece, Ashley Horwitz; his nephews, Derrick Lessor and Bryce Horwitz; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends.

He was preceded in death by his niece, Rochelle Horwitz.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established for Todd's son, Lucus.

The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home with arrangements.

Donald J. "Brock" Brockington

CRYSTAL FALLS - Donald Joseph 'Brock' Brockington, 68, of Crystal Falls, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.

He was born on Feb. 7, 1939, the son of the late Clyde and Illabelle (Bouchard) Brockington.

Brock graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1957, and attended Ferris State University for two years. He served in Panama with the U.S. Army as a Green Beret and paratrooper.

Don married Lorraine Gustafson on June 12, 1965, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain.

He worked at Lake Shore Inc. for 34 years, retiring in 1998. Brock loved to be outdoors and had a tremendous knowledge about nature. He enjoyed flower gardening, hunting, ice fishing, and John Deere tractors. A talented craftsman, Brock could make or repair anything.

Don is survived by his wife, Lorraine; his children, Kelly (James) McMillen of Yucca Valley, Calif., Donn (Stephanie) Brockington of Yorktown, Va., Lynette (David) Vardian of Iron Mountain, and Karla (Pat) McMillen of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister, Theresa (Ray) Struve of Marinette; three grandchildren, Marissa Bazan, and Ashlyn and Austin Brockington; his mother-in-law, Evelyn Gustafson of Iron Mountain, and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ruth (Jerry) LaVigne, Marion Gustafson, LaVerne (Bob) Servia, Glen (Carol) Gustafson, Jeannette (Jerry) Kazianka, and Alicejean (Jerry) Kirby; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.

The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home with arrangements.

Marcey M. McCardell

IRON MOUNTAIN - Marcey M. McCardell, 50, of 503 Norway St., Iron Mountain, died, Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.

Marcey was born July 5, 1957, in Oshkosh, Wis. She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Lola (Barnard) Briggs. Marcey graduated from Holbrook High School in Holbrook, Ariz.

She attended college for a year at Ricks College (currently Brigham Young University, Idaho). She served a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Tallahassee Florida Mission. Her mission gave her a strong and lifelong testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Marcey returned to the family home in Tolleson, Ariz. and worked for her father in the timekeeping department at the Palo Verde Nuclear Power Plant. She spent some time in Tennessee before moving to this area in the early 1990s. Marcey attended college at Northern Michigan University for two years. She interrupted her education to return to Kingsford and take care of her parents. After her parents passed away, she returned to NMU and was pursuing her degree.

Marcey was a member of the church, Relief Society where she had a calling as a teacher. Marcey enjoyed decorating and making beaded jewelry, she used her artistic talents in decorating the church for gatherings and seasonal changes. Marcey was a very glamorous woman, she had a flamboyant and classy style that was all her own.

She is survived by her sister, Chavonne (Les) Klatt of Kingsford; nieces and nephew, Tanith, Cole and Aurora Paquette; honorary siblings, Tony Paquette, Barbara Black, Jo Scott, Kathy Mitchell and their families.

Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.

Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. from the funeral home.

Branch President Myron Berry will conduct the services.

Burial will be in the Homestead-Aurora cemetery.

The funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.

Attilio "T" Picucci

IRON MOUNTAIN - Attilio 'T.' Picucci, 90, of 919 E. Stanton St., Iron Mountain, died peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.

He was born April 12, 1917, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Carmen and Mattie (Coduti) Picucci. He was a lifelong resident of Iron Mountain. Attilio graduated from Iron Mountain High School and attended Dundon's Business College and Northern Michigan University.

He married Alice Bugni on Dec. 6, 1941, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Iron Mountain. She preceded him in death on July 23, 2003.

Attilio served in the U. S. Air Force during World War II from 1942 to 1946 and attained the rank of major before being honorably discharged. He was the assistant to the base commander at several large military bases in the states. He also worked in the intelligence field while in the Air Force.

He began his banking career with the First National Bank of Iron Mountain on Sept. 9, 1937, and retired in 1981, as senior vice president with more than 40 years of service to the bank. Attilio was a past president of Pine Grove Country Club, the Chippewa Club, and the Chamber of Commerce. He served as president of the Lake States Bankers Association, president and chairman of the Group One Michigan Bankers Association, and served on the NMU School of Banking Advisory Board. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Iron Mountain-Kingsford Rotary Club. He loved to golf and enjoyed the fellowship at the Pine Grove Country Club.

He is survived by one son, Jerry (Marci) Picucci of Iron Mountain; one brother, Alfred G. Picucci of Iron Mountain; four grandchildren, Shari (Ken) White of Iron Mountain, Anthony 'Tony' Picucci (Melissa Scott) of Kingsford, Mark (Katie) Picucci of Marquette, and Paul Picucci of Iron Mountain; a great-grandson Max J. White; a brother-in-law, Louis Ballario of Iron Mountain and sister-in-law, Lucille (Mel) Groepel of California.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Florence and Marietta Picucci and two brothers, Antonio Picucci and an infant brother, Alfred.

There will be no visitation.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.

Interment will be in cemetery Park. Pallbearers will be Tony, Mark, and Paul Picucci, Ken White, Bert Moore, and Mike Youngberg.

In lieu of flowers, contributions or memorials may be made to the Carmelite Monastery.

The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with arrangements.
