Louis J. Antonini

IRON MOUNTAIN - Louis J. Antonini, 87, of Iron Mountain, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.

He was born on April 7, 1920, in Iron Mountain, the son of the late Biago and Assunta (Giachino) Antonini.

Louis was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a mechanic and owned and operated two gas stations. He also worked for the Dickinson County Library and drove the bookmobile.

He had a passion for classic cars and enjoyed playing horseshoes. Louis was a loving grandpa and liked to joke and have a good time.

He is survived by his daughter, Theresa Kayser of Iron Mountain; two sons Joe (Vicki) Antonini of Spread Eagle, Wis. and Dan (Pat Herman) Antonini of Kingsford; one brother, Alvio (Jean) Antonini of Sun City, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Louis was preceded in death by two brothers, Dario and Raymond and two sisters, Elda and Toni.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 17, 2008, at 11:30 a.m. at Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.

The family has entrusted the Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Ada Rock

IRON MOUNTAIN - Ada Rock, 92, of 810 River Ave. in Iron Mountain, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.

Ada was born April 18, 1915, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Ubaldo and Lucia Bartoletti.

She married Donald Rock on Jan. 24, 1938, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 2006.

Ada was a lifelong resident of the area and a longtime member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church. Ada worked for Rocheleau's Bakery, D and B Warehouse and the Dickinson Inn. She and her husband also owned and operated Rock's grocery store on West D Street in Iron Mountain.

Ada was a great cook and enjoyed making pasties and raviolis. She also enjoyed crocheting, making various crafts and going to the casino.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara DeClark of Aurora, Wis.; four sons, James (Mary) of Kingsford, Duane (Vicky) of Norway, David (Julie) of Iron Mountain, and Albert (Deborah) of Green Bay, Wis.; two brothers, Adolph Bartoletti of Green Bay, Wis. and Louis Bartoletti of Milwaukee; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Ada was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Orlando Bartoletti and two sisters, Emelia Nelson and Carrie Russatto.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.

Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will officiate.

Burial will be in cemetery Park.

The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the arrangements.

Marilyn Rhino

CRYSTAL FALLS - Marilyn Rhino, 75, known to her many friends as 'Mim, ' died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility after a long battle with cancer.

She was born at home in the New Bristol Location in Crystal Falls Township on June 1, 1932, daughter of the late George and Margaret (Stevenson) Dahl.

She attended Forest Park Schools until her junior year of high school, when she moved to Chicago and attended Steinmetz High School. On June 1, 1950, she married Albert 'Al' Rhino in Chicago.

She was a stay-at-home mom for many years, venturing out into the workforce when her youngest child went to school. She worked for 10 years as the office assistant for Harold Boberg, D.C. In July 1976, Mim and Al bought McGregor's Resort, later known as Fortune Lake Cabins, and they ran the resort for 21 years. In 1995, they began dividing their time between their homes in Florida and Michigan.

Mim was a member of United Lutheran Church in Crystal Falls, serving on the altar guild and the counting committee. She was a past member of the North Country Kickers, a Red Hat Society member, a Girl Scout leader and helped organize the Newcomers Club. She loved her family, her friends and her home.

She is survived by husband of 57 years Al; two daughters, Denise Nelson and Debbi (Robin) Lynd; one son, Albert (Melissa) Rhino; 10 grandchildren, Elizabeth (Christopher) Loser, Britta Nelson, Erik (fiance Ashley Nunan) Lynd, Jacob, Charles and Stephen Nelson, Alex, Nicole and Lydia Rhino and David Lynd; four great-grandchildren, Annelise Loser and Joshusa, Jacob and Jerimiah Cook; one sister, Andrea (James) Paetsch; two stepbrothers, Paul (Renee) Cram and Russell (Jeanie) Cram; two stepsisters, Evelyn (the late Don) Hebein and Gloria (Ray) Plank; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step parents, Tony Parochelli and Ellen Dahl; and two stepbrothers, Harry and Robert Cram.

There will be no visitation.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be announced at a later date. Memorials may be made to the United Lutheran Church in Crystal Falls.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.

Susan Lin Wilkinson

MILWAUKEE - Susan Lin Wilkinson, 30, of Milwaukee, formerly of Kingsford, died Monday, March 3, 2008, at her home following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She was born Koh Young Mee on Feb. 5, 1978, in Seoul, Korea, and became the beloved daughter of John and Ruth (Peterson) Wilkinson on Sept. 21, 1978. She grew up in Kingsford and graduated from the Kingsford High School in 1996. For the past five years, SuLin lived in the Milwaukee area. She loved music and played piano for many high school functions and church activities. She was a very accomplished musician. SuLin was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her parents, John and Ruth Wilkinson; her fiance', Nick Lehto of Milwaukee; one brother, Timothy 'T.J.' Wilkinson who is attending college; her maternal grandfather, Quentin Peterson of Kingsford; her paternal grandmother, Margaret Newkirk of Mayville, Mich.; three aunts, Karol Peterson of Kalamazoo, Mich., Jackie Doll of Kitchener, Ont., and Sally Stevens of Columbus, N.C.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Esther Peterson.

Visitation was held today from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Our Saviour's Lutheran Church.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today at the church. Rev. Stephen Cowen officiated.

Burial was held in cemetery Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in her memory.

Elsie Erickson

IRON MOUNTAIN - Elsie A. Erickson, 90, of 1252 Kimberly Ave. in Iron Mountain, died Monday, March 3, 2008, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.

She was born Sept. 17, 1917, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Victor and Hilma (Bjors) Holm. After graduation from the Iron Mountain High School in 1935, she worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Co. Through successive promotions, she was named manager of operative services in 1963. This position was held by Elsie until her retirement in 1979 after 42 years of service.

She married William Erickson on July 1, 1958, in Lansing. He preceded her in death in 1992.

Elsie was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church, the Telephone Pioneers of America, the Eastern Star, and a former member of the Lady Lions.

She is survived by one nephew, Theodore (Reina) Johnson of Boston and his children, Justine and Eric and two nieces, Jean Johnson of Iron Mountain and Connie Holm Demeuse of Chandler, Ariz. and her daughters, Shelby, Beth, and Julie.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Irene Johnson; brother-in-law, Theodore Johnson; one brother, Ernest Holm and sister-in-law, Ruth Holm.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Rev. James Chinery will officiate.

Burial will be in cemetery Park.

Dr. William G. "Bill" Treviranus, Jr.

FLORENCE, Wis - Dr. William G. "Bill" Treviranus, Jr, 68, of 7287 North Shore Rd. Florence, WI died Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain, MI.

Bill was born February 27, 1940 in Green Bay, WI son of the late William G. Sr. and Bernice (Walters) Treviranus. He graduated from Plymouth High School and Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville Missouri becoming an osteopathic physician (D.O.) and going to work at the Plymouth Clinic in Plymouth, WI in 1969. Bill spent six years in Plymouth before moving to El Cajon, CA where he worked in private practice for 18 years. In December of 1992 he moved to Wolf Point, MT where he worked at the Indian Health Clinic and became Chief Medical Officer before retiring due to health reasons in 1997. For the past eight years Bill has lived in the Florence, WI area. He was a member of many professional organizations including past president and long time Rotary member, commodore of the Calif Ensenada Yacht Club, and served as a board member of the Calif state osteopathic association. Bill loved boating/sailing and enjoyed many other outdoor activities including ATV riding, snowmobiling, fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed collecting cars and his dogs.

Bill is survived by his wife, Sally; a son, William G. "Billy" (special friend, Terri) Treviranus III of San Diego, CA; three step sons, Michael (Katey) Harder of Germany, Tony (Kelli) Treviranus of Temecula, CA and Stephen (Angela) Harder of LeMesa, CA; a sister, Susan (Robert) Vickery of Green Bay, WI; eight grandchildren, Hunter & Haylee Treviranus, Mike & Mallory Harder, Paige & Tony Treviranus and Austin & Nicole Harder; his father and mother-in-law, Don and Laura Diver of Plymouth, WI; and a sister-in-law, Diane (Rick) Zinkgraf.

He was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Ann.

At Bill's request there will be no services and his remains will be scattered off the coast of San Diego, CA at a later date.

Jean S. Wicklund

IRON MOUNTAIN - Jean S. Wicklund, 80, of Iron Mountain, died Saturday, March 1, 2008, at the Hyland Nursing Home.

She was born May 8, 1927, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Samuel and Jenny (Sprague) Carpenter. Jean graduated from Ironwood High School in 1945. She was a former member of the Westly Methodist Church in Ironwood.

On Oct. 11, 1947, she married James Wicklund in Ironwood. In 1967, they moved to this area. She and her husband enjoyed many years of traveling and camping in their fifth wheel. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1995. Jean's family was the center of her life.

She is survived by three sons, David (Cindy) Wicklund of Iron Mountain and Robert Wicklund and William (Rachel) Wicklund, both of Kingsford; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Carpenter of Ironwood; eight grandchildren, Carlye, Kyle, Jenni, Amy, Trisha, Ryan, Stephanie, and Sidney; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Samuel 'Len' Carpenter.

Friends may call from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.

Burial will be in cemetery Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, U.P. Chapter, 710 Chippewa Square 201, Marquette, Mich., 49855.

Joyce Kampo

IRON MOUNTAIN - Joyce Kampo, 81, of W-8007 Dawns Lake Road, Iron Mountain, died peacefully at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, at her daughter's home in Normal, Ill.

She was born on Oct. 30, 1926, in Florence, Wis., daughter of the late Christopher and Iva (Kinnear) Fraker. She graduated from Florence High School in 1944.

Joyce married Herman Kampo on Aug. 9, 1947, in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death on Feb. 24, 2004. She was a member of Balsam Street Christian Church in Kingsford. Joyce enjoyed reading, spending time with family, Christian music and attending her church.

She is survived by two daughters, Gail (Tom) Wroblewski of Normal and Cherry (Lawrence 'Dale') Lindberg of Iron Mountain; two grandchildren, Karin (Chris) Severns of Cincinnati and Chris (Rachel) Wroblewski of Smyrna, Tenn.; two great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Breana Severns.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Henry Fraker; two sisters, June Holmberg and Florence Lutter and son-in-law, Richard Litersky.

Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Fairway Knolls Church of the Nazarene, Bloomington, Ill., with Pastor Tim George officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park in New Berlin, Wis.

Joyce was a much loved and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed by her family. Her strong faith carried her through to the end and is a wonderful testimony to her life.

Memorials may be made to BroMenn Hospice, Bloomington, Ill, or to the Balsam Street Christian Church in Kingsford.

The family wishes to thank Mom's Hospice nurses, Kathy, Alice, Jamie and Jan.

The Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain is in charge of arrangements.
