JEANETTE (BLACKMORE) CATALINE

Novi

Jeanette (Blackmore) Cataline, 70, of Novi died suddenly at home June 19, 2006.

She is survived by four children, Joel (Jane) Schuneman of Pittsburgh, Sara (Bob) Falcone of Strawberry Lake, Jennifer (Lloyd) Hopkins of Novi and Amy (Jamie) Wyles of Atlanta. Also surviving are six grandchildren; one brother, John (Carol) Blackmore; and an aunt and uncle, Barbara (Luick) and James Stephenson of Ann Arbor.

Funeral services were held June 23 in Walled Lake. Cremation has taken place.

RICHARD D. "RICK" MCCULLOUGH

Dexter

Richard D. "Rick" McCullough, 52, of Dexter died unexpectedly July 11, 2006, in Ypsilanti. He was born June 30, 1954, in Garden City the son of Travis "Dale" and Peggy Ruth (James) McCullough.

Mr. McCullough graduated in 1972 from Dexter High School and had been a resident of Dexter since 1962. His life work was within the moving industry. He was a highly regarded member of the Ann Arbor Moose Sportsman's League, Lodge 1253.

Mr. McCullough enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, gardening, the outdoors and playing with his grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Papa."

He is survived by his first wife and mother of his children, Janice McCullough, of Dexter; his mother, Peggy McCullough of Ypsilanti; his children, Bill McCullough of Lima, Ohio, and Christal (Dennis) Carney of Chelsea.

Also surviving are his grandchildren, Taylor, Corey and Holly McKenna of Chelsea; a brother, Randy (Cindy) McCullough of Stockbridge; a sister, Jackie (Bob) Raymond of Willis; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral was held July 14 at Hosmer-Muehlig Funeral Chapel in Dexter. Burial was at Forest Lawn cemetery in Dexter.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

WESLEY J. HOWES

Ormond Beach, Fla.

Formerly of Chelsea

Wesley J. Howes, 90, of Ormond Beach, Fla., died July 27, 2006. He was born in Lapeer and moved to Florida from Chelsea in 1968.

An Army veteran of World War II stationed in the European Theatre, he was part of the landing in Normandy, France.

Mr. Howes was the owner of a Gambles store for 23 years in Chelsea, a Realtor for Key Realty in Daytona, Fla., and enjoyed golf, bowling and loved to travel.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby, of 65 years; their daughter, Rebecca Hudson, also of Ormond Beach; and grandson, Sean Murray.

Graveside services and military honors will be held 11 a.m. Aug. 3 at Wixom cemetery in Wixom.

BRIAN G. GUNDERSON

Chelsea

Brian Gunderson, who was known as "Mr. G" a.k.a. "D, " 58, of Chelsea died July 29, 2006, at his home with his caring family at his side.

Mr. Gunderson lost his long, courageous battle with cancer after 14 years. He was born Oct. 6, 1947, in Evanston, Ill., the son of Glenn O. and Frances (Mueller) Gunderson.

Mr. Gunderson owned Wazoo Records in Ann Arbor for 20 years. He was active in the First United Methodist Church, teaching Sunday school to middle school students. He was a member of the Inverness Country Club, and was active in the Ann Arbor City Tennis Tournament.

Mr. Gunderson volunteered for many community organizations, including Arbor Hospice, Detroit Woman's Shelter, Habitat for Humanity and as a child advocate for Washtenaw County Courts. He was a funny, generous man who touched people in a positive way.

Mr. Gunderson was loved by many and respected by more for his genuine appreciation of thoughtfulness and self-improvement, as well as his positive attitude, relentless sarcasm and the long drives down the middle of the fairway.

He made philanthropic efforts and had a never-ending quest to find the truth and compassion in what we often describe as an unfair and cruel world.

Mr. Gunderson was a graceful man, vibrant as an autumn leaf and always optimistic toward the new life that blooms after the cold, wintery days we sometimes struggle through, his family said. His golden smile and his witty humor brought sunshine to many cloudy hearts.

"He taught us that life is in the details, but also that we can't appreciate their meaning unless we step back and look at the big picture, " they said.

Mr. Gunderson is survived by his two sons, Gavin and Ben, and their mother, Kathy Gunderson of Chelsea; his brother, David (Patricia) Gunderson of Madison, Wis.; his sister, Sharon (Eric) Ryback of St. Louis; his heartbroken mother, Frances; and his pal, Beverly Dronen.

He was preceded in death by his father.

A funeral will be held 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Chelsea. The Rev. Barbara Lewis-Lakin will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Cole Funeral Chapel.

HARRY E. BURNETT

Chelsea

Formerly of Dexter

Harry E. Burnett, 56, of Chelsea, formerly of Dexter, died July 25, 2006, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Superior Township. He was born Oct. 21, 1949, in Ann Arbor the son of Harry Jr. and Marjorie (Umstead) Burnett.

Mr. Burnett was a truck driver for R and L Carries for 13 years, retiring in 2001. He loved hunting, fishing and playing with his grandchildren. He served two tours in the Vietnam War.

On Dec. 26, 1971, he married Deborah A. Williams in Dexter, and she survives.

Also surviving are his mother of Jackson and his father of Florida; four children, Jason Burnett of Michigan, Heather (Steve) Bohnette of Milan, Harry Burnett IV of Chelsea and Beth (Jason) Hewitt of Chelsea; one brother, Tony (Laura) Burnett of Florida; one sister, Tamie Petty of Jackson; four grandchildren, Devin, Cody, Morgan and Kyle; sister and brother-in-laws Sherry (Bruce) Parks of Ann Arbor and Brent Williams of Ann Arbor and Steve Williams of Saline; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends Robert "Bud" and Joyce Freysinger.

A funeral was held Friday at Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home in Chelsea. Robert Freysinger will officiate. Private burial will take place at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Burnett family, who sends a special thank you to the nursing staff at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital oncology and rehabilitation units.

CLARINDA DELL'ANNO

Perry

Clarinda Dell'Anno, 74, of Perry died Aug. 4, 2006. She was born Nov. 16, 1931, to Ethel (King) and Anthony Wayne Combs. On April 7, 1947, she married the love of her life, Joseph Dell'Anno, and together they raised four children.

In 1983, Mrs. Dell'Anno retired from Michigan Bell after 25 years of service. She loved to travel and visited 47 states along with many different historical sites during her lifetime.

For many years, she collected and sold antiques, and was especially fond of her Blue Willow, Barbie, Coca-Cola and teddy bear collections.

Mrs. Dell'Anno was proud of her southern roots and enjoyed reminiscing about her childhood spent in the hills of Kentucky. During her long illness, she remained furiously independent, her mind clear and strong as she challenged those around her regarding history and word definitions.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dossa Fay White; granddaughter, Petra Dell'Anno Anonuevo; and grandson, Trevor Scott Anderson.

Mrs. Dell'Anno is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Dell'Anno Sr. of 59 years; four children, Charlotte (Stephen) Katz of East Lansing, Joseph Dell'Anno Jr. of Dexter, Anthony (Janet) Dell'Anno Sr. of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., and Carla (Maurilio) Bravo of Huntington Beach, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Erin and Alan Katz, Joseph Dell'Anno III, David Dell'Anno, Anthony Dell'Anno Jr., Lara Dell'Anno, and Christin and Justin Anonuevo; two great-grandchildren, Joseph Dell'Anno IV and Cassie Dell'Anno; and a special friend, Sue Reed, of many years.

She is also survived by two sisters, Joyce Wooten and Ruth Hoffman, and a brother, Wayne Combs.

The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to Great Lakes Hospice, especially to Diane and to the St. Lawrence Hospice House of Mid-Michigan for their love, care and compassion.

The family also wishes to thank Brenda Alchin for all her support and companionship.

A memorial for family and friends will be held 4 p.m. Friday at Forest Lawn cemetery in Dexter. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

ERMA FRERICHS

Arizona

Erma (Dettling, Bertke) Frerichs, 90, of Arizona died Oct. 24, 2005. A celebration of her life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John's United Church of Christ, 801 S. Mechanic St. in Jackson. The Rev. Jay Cummings will officiate.

Mrs. Frerichs is survived by a son, David (Phyllis) Bertke of Charlotte N.C.; two daughters, Barbara (Carl) Byrum of Jackson and Marcia Westerbeke of Lake Havasu City Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

LEWIS KNICKERBOCKER

Ann Arbor

Lewis L. Knickerbocker, 68 of Ann Arbor died Aug. 6, 2006, at Saline-Evangelical Home while under hospice care. He was born Nov. 21, 1937, in Chelsea.

Mr. Knickerbocker served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1959. He retired from Sweepster in 1997, and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also was an avid Detroit Tigers fan.

He is survived by his siblings, Robert L. (Sandra) Knickerbocker of Dexter, Harold F. (Donna) Gross of Hubbard Lake, Lawton (Virginia) Gross of Dexter, Tim (Nancy) Gross of Whitmore Lake and Debbie (Mike) Phillips of Ann Arbor.

Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, cousins and close friends, as well as his loving cats, Lucy and Heidi.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Florence Winkle Gross; stepfather, Harold Lawton Gross; and his sisters, Eileen Knickerbocker and Beverly Ann Gross Hirth.

Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service in his honor will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Andrew's United Church of Christ in Dexter.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Arbor Hospice or St. Andrew's United Church of Christ.

Chelsea

Mark A. Bach, 45, of Chelsea died Aug. 1, 2006, at the University of Michigan Hospital. He was born May 29, 1961, in Royal Oak the son of Anthony M. and Nancy J. (Judy) Godin Bach.

Mr. Bach is survived by his wife, JoAnn M. Kassmann, whom he married June 21, 1996, in Chelsea. He had been a resident of Chelsea for the past 10 years.

Mr. Bach was the manager for inside sales at KSS Enterprises in Jackson. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and antique boating. NASCAR and his computer were favorite pastimes.

Mr. Bach also was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Chelsea.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Angie Bach and Anthony Bach of Dexter; his parents of Troy; his brother, Mike (Ellen) Bach of Chelsea; two sisters, Margaret Bach of Troy and Mary Alice (Dave) Misz of Sterling Heights; five nephews; and one niece.

Also surviving are his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joe and Ann Kassmann of Rochester Hills; and his former wife, Diane Bach of Dexter.

A Funeral Mass was held Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chelsea. The Rev. William Turner officiated. A vigil was held Thursday at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, where the family received friends.

Burial was at Mount Olivet cemetery in Chelsea.

Memorial contributions may be made to an educational fund for Mr. Bach's two children.

LUCILLE LOUISE MARTIN

Chelsea

Lucille Louise Martin, 85, of Chelsea died Aug. 3, 2006, at her home with her daughter, Judy, by her side. She was born June 13, 1921, in Detroit, the daughter of Edward and Elsa (Schiller) Martin.

Ms. Martin was a lifelong Chelsea resident. She was confirmed at and a lifelong member of St. Paul United Church of Christ. She graduated from Chelsea High School in 1939, and from Alexandra School of Cosmotology.

Ms. Martin was a hairdresser at Norma's Beauty Shoppe, with her Aunt Norma Schiller, until her retirement in 1986.

Ms. Martin enjoyed sewing, her flower garden and especially her grandchildren. Family gatherings and extended family were very precious to her.

She is survived by and was a loving mother to her daughter, Judith A. Irwin of Chelsea; her sister, Arlene Larson of Chelsea; her grandchildren, Jane Irwin (Paul Sizer), Thomas Irwin (fiancee Amanda Foreman), James Irwin and Jill Barrett (fiance John Olasz); and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a dear maternal aunt, Norma Schiller, and her sister, Muriel Chance.

A funeral was held Monday at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Chelsea. The Rev. Karen Schulte officiated. Burial was at Oak Grove cemetery in Chelsea.

The family received friends at Cole Funeral Chapel.
