Jordan Groeneveld
IRON MOUNTAIN - Jordan Paul Groeneveld, 17, of 223 Easton Lane, Kingsford, died Thursday, March 20, 2003.
Jordan was born May 9, 1985 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain. He has attended Kingsford Schools and was currently a junior at Kingsford High School. He loved hunting, fishing and camp. He also loved all sports, especially football and bowling. Jordan was a member of American Martyrs Church in Kingsford.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Albert and Joyce Groeneveld; his maternal grandfather, George Massa; and an uncle, Billy Groeneveld.
He leaves his parents, Jan and Melanie Groeneveld of Kingsford; two brothers, Justin and Jacob at home; his maternal grandmother, Betty Massa of Kingsford; two uncles, George (Shelly) Groeneveld of Kingsford and Rodney Massa of Iron Mountain; two aunts, Kay Groeneveld of Kingsford and Joy (Larry) Nasi of Kingsford; and many other special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Parish prayers will be offered at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home and 11 a.m. Monday at American Martyrs Church in Kingsford. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of Christian burial. Burial will be in the Felch cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Groeneveld, Michael Bazinet, Bryan and John Bray, Erich Groeneveld, Lindsay Groeneveld, Brian Lequia, and Bryce Cuggino. Honorary pallbearers will be George Groeneveld and Rodney "Rat" Massa.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.

Chester Isaacson
IRON MOUNTAIN - Chester H. Isaacson, 81, of White Birch Village, Iron Mountain, died Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
Chester was born Feb. 23, 1922, in Felch, son of Jacob and Anna (Wickman) Isaacson. He had been a lifelong resident of this area and was a 1940 graduate of Felch High School. He was an honorably discharged U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He served in the European-African-Middle Eastern and Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations. He completed his tour in the military police and as a guard patrolman. Chester married the former Alice Jarvi on Aug. 26, 1961, in Iron River. He retired after many years of employment from Lake Shore Inc. Chester was a member of First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain. He was one of the first volunteers for the local Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization. He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, music and gardening.
Chester was preceded in death by five sisters, Ellen and Mildren Isaacson, Emelia Anderson, Agda Lindstrom and Clarice Richtig, and three brothers, Alfred, Leo and Werner Isaacson.
He is survived by his wife, Alice; two sisters, Beatrice Maki of Kingsford and Joyce Muterspaugh of Iron Mountain, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain. Rev. Bruce Linscheid will officiate. Burial will be in Dickinson County Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Mark and Warren Isaacson, Clinton and Marshall Seawright and David Schettler.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.

Georgina Johns
KINGSFORD - Georgina "Jean" Johns, 83, of 217 Withworth Ave., Kingsford, died Sunday, March 9, 2003, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She was born Oct. 20, 1919, in Ironwood. She came to Iron Mountain with her family as a child and graduated from Kingsford High School, class of 1939. Jean had worked in the sewing factory on Iron Mountain's Northside. She married Walter A. Johns in 1940, in Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 1983. Jean was a member of American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford and a former member of St. Theresa's Circle. She enjoyed her time at the Breen Senior Citizens Center.
She is survived by two sons, Peter L. Johns of Bloomington, Minn., and Walter A. (Diann) Johns of Tampa, Fla.; two daughters, Fran (James) Formolo of Iron Mountain and Mary Lou Clement of Kingsford; a brother, Charles (Myrtle) Raess of Fond du Lac, Wis.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Eugene) Kempka, Al (Carol) Johns, Aileen (Dave) Machus and Carol (Leo) Pilon; nine grandchildren, Randy (Marianne) Johns, Mickey Johns, Becki Johns, Todd (Elisa) Dario, Tim (Jenny) Dario, Tracy (Craig) VanBeek, Jimbo Formolo, Joe and Jared Clement; stepgrandchildren, Wayne, Todd, Jesse and Lee Formolo; 15 great-grandchildren, a special friend and guardian angel, Barb Ponchaud of Breitung Township.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, George and Katherine (Duquette) Raess; a daughter, Joanne Johns, and granddaughter, Margret Johns.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Kingsford Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be recited at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Kingsford Funeral Home to handle the funeral arrangements.

Roger Cini
IRON MOUNTAIN - Roger S. Cini, 67, of Wauwatosa, Wis., died Saturday, March 8, 2003, at the Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.
He was born May 8, 1935, son of the late John Sr. and Myrtle (Anderson) Cini. Roger was a U.S. Navy veteran, a retiree of Briggs and Stratton of Milwaukee and a member of the Railroad Historical Society. He was also a charter member of St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
He is survived by a brother, John Cini of Wauwatosa, Wis., and three cousins, Rosemarie Cini Kuehl, Alfio Cini and Louis (Julie) Cini, all of Iron Mountain.
Roger was also preceded in death by a brother, Amedio Cini.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Rev. Lori Liverance will officiate. Burial will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.

Helen DiLoreto
IRON MOUNTAIN - Helen M. DiLoreto, 93, formerly of 405 Millie St., Iron Mountain, died Friday, March 7, 2003, at ManorCare Health Center in Kingsford.
She was born June 23, 1909, in Hungary, daughter of the late John and Magdalina (Schaffer) Burbach. She had been a resident of this area for most of her life. Helen married John DiLoreto on Aug. 16, 1947, in Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 1982. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Iron Mountain.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Diane (Richard) Fedrizzi of Quinnesec; a brother, Philip Burbach of Texas; a sister, Katherine Stanchina of Kingsford; three grandchildren, Amy (Kyle) Ziehm of Iron Mountain, Beth (Mike) LeSage of Marinette, Wis. and Tony Sparapani of Escanaba; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Rev. William Seitz will officiate. Burial will be in cemetery Park.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Ruth Dashnier
IRON MOUNTAIN - Ruth G. Dashnier, 93, of Vallejo, Calif., formerly of Iron Mountain, died Monday, March 3, 2003, in Vallejo.
She was born Aug. 26, 1909, in Milwaukee, daughter of the late George and Adelaide (Kamrath) Damon. Ruth and her husband Gilbert were residents of this area from 1948 to 1973. Gilbert preceded her in death on Aug, 23, 1961. While in Iron Mountain, Ruth worked for Montgomery Wards. She was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Church and served as regent for the Daughters of Isabella. She was a member of st. Dominic's Church in Benicia, Calif. and enjoyed crocheting and crafts at the Benicia Senior Center.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Janet (Bob) Amrhein of Benicia; a son, Glenn (Joyce) Dashnier of Midland, lower Michigan; four grandchildren, Brian (Kristy) Dashnier of Sanford, lower Michigan, Denise Martin of Lennon, lower Michigan, Sara (Keith) Wood of Livermore, Calif. and Charlene Amrhein of San Francisco, Calif.; eight great-grandchildren; a niece, Ruth Dreyer of Milwaukee; a sister-in-law, Cathleen Gilling of Green Bay, Wis.; and a dear friend, Margaret Mich of Franklin, Wis.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will be held Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will officiate. Burial will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.

Richard Nordell
NIAGARA, Wis. - Richard A. Nordell, 43, 1380 Mill St., Niagara, Wis., was suddenly called to his eternal home on Monday, March 3, 2003.
He was born April 1, 1959, in Marinette, Wis., son of Josephine Nordell and the late Albert Nordell. He was a lifelong resident of Niagara and graduated from Niagara High School in 1977. Rick worked at the Niagara Paper Mill in Niagara for 25 years. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara, United Paper Workers Local 1166, and the local dart league. Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing and his motorcycle.
He is survived by a daughter, Melinda Nordell of Quinnesec; a son, Jason Nordell of Iron Mountain; mother, Josephine Nordell of Niagara; his fiancee, Julie Finendale and her son, Jon; a brother, John (Jody) Nordell of Niagara; a sister, Mary (Paul) Martin of Iron Mountain; three aunts, Irene (Ron) Helms, Betty Stachowicz and Margaret Basso, who was also his Godmother; three nephews, Bob and Dustin Nordell, Tyler Martin; a niece, Shanna Nordell, who was also his Godchild, and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Nordell on March 9, 1999.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Fr. Mike Betley will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in the Niagara cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Nordell, Paul Martin, Randy Weinfurter and Michael Klenovich.

Ralph Verley
QUINNESEC - Ralph H. Verley, 96, of Quinnesec, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003 at Freeman's Convalescent Home.
He was born Dec. 1, 1906 in Sheridan, Wyo., son of the late William and Alvena (Fraker) Verley.
Ralph married Mildred Tippett on June 5, 1926 in Crystal Falls. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Iron Mountain. Ralph was a jack of all trades. He could do everything - plumbing, electrical, builder, wood working, car painting and repair. He worked for Ford Motor Co. for 22 years, Grand Ledge Michigan Academy Craft Shop, drove truck for D & B Freight Sales for many years out of Iron Mountain and he owned and operated a mechanic shop out of his garage. Ralph was part of the crew who built the little stone church on the corner of Carpenter and C.
Ralph is survived by his wife of 76 years, Mildred Verley; two sons, Ralph Jr. (Irene) Verley of Arlington Heights, Ill. and Norman (Evelyn) Verley of Quinnesec; three daughters, Lois (Bruce) Ring of Iron Mountain, Della (Ron) VanAlstine of Quinnesec and Susan (Charles) Kempf of Quinnesec; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Harold, Cecil, Archie, Victor, and Floyd, and a sister, Carla Trecartin.
Private family services will be held at a later date.

Joseph Cuculi
CHANNING - Joseph F. Cuculi, 90, of Channing, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iron Mountain.
Joe was born Sept. 14, 1912, in Channing, son of the late John and Jovanna (Blazavich) Cuculi. He was a lifelong resident of Channing and was a 1931 graduate of Channing High School. He married Mary Alice Tobin on Sept. 14, 1946, and she preceded him in death on March 17, 1992. Joe owned and operated Cuculi's Bar in Channing for more than 40 years, retiring in 1978. He was a lifelong member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Channing, a lifetime member of the Sagola Sportsman's Club and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 168 for 56 years and the 40 et 8. He served on the zoning board for Dickinson County and was on the Sagola Township Board for more than 30 years. Joe loved to play cards and bowl. He spent endless hours with his grandchildren and they were a very big part of his life. He was an avid supporter of everything in the Channing community. He coached baseball for many years in Channing.
He is survived by a son, Patrick (Sandie) Cuculi of Sturgeon Bay, Wis.; a sister, Elizabeth Kothanek of Chicago; two grandchildren, Mike (Nancy) Cuculi and Michelle Cuculi (Mike Pfannenstiel), both of Sturgeon Bay; a sister-in-law, Carol Fontana of Channing; a brother-in-law, Mike Tobin of Green Bay, Wis.; two step great-grandchildren, Alan and Michael Schmidt; and several nieces and nephews. Joe was also preceded in death by two brothers, Vincent and Leonard; and two sisters, Millie Olson and Marge Namen.
Visitation will be held Monday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Parish prayers will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Visitation will also be held Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church in Channing. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the church. Fr. George Kuppayil will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in the Channing cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established at St. Rose Catholic Church in Channing.
Pallbearers will be Mike Cuculi, Mike Pfannenstiel, Roy Ross, Ken Frey, Tim Olson and Clayton Olson.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain
