Katherine Pollard
IRON MOUNTAIN - Katherine F. Pollard, 87, of 1820 Mary's Way in Kingsford, formerly of 616 Birch St., Iron Mountain, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.
She was born April 21, 1916, in Ewen and graduated from Ewen High School in 1935.
Katherine married Sam Pollard on July 2, 1938, at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death on May 22, 2001.
She enjoyed bingo and playing cards, specially Smear. Katherine was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. She enjoyed traveling through the United States, just recently returning from Las Vegas, where she attended the wedding of her first great-grandchild, Kristen (O'Donnell) Todd.
She was also preceded in death by her mother and father, George and Frances Chopps; her adoptive parents, Peter and Adele Beaudin; 18 brothers and sisters; and an infant grandson, Danny Paquette.
Katherine is survived by her son, Carlton (Judy) Pollard of Vulcan; two daughters, Joan (Lane) Perdue of Green Bay, Wis. and Linda (Roger) Polkinghorne of Newbury Park, Calif.; two sisters, Edith VanGoethem of Beaverton, Ore. and Ann Manninen of Ewen; 10 grandchildren, Joyce (Lance) Bashaw of Iron Mountain, Ken (Denise) Pollard of Omaha, Neb., Debbie (Warren) Brisson of Tucson, Ariz., Sue (Tom) O'Donnell of Broken Arrow, Okla., Gary (Shawna) Perdue of Green Bay, Randy (Beth) Perdue of New Franken, Wis., Sheri (Michael) Hodson of Puyallup, Wash., Kim (Roy) LaPlante of Orcutt, Calif., Tim (Renee) Polkinghorne of Bakersfield, Calif., and Terri (Rudy) Avila of Moorpark, Calif.; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.
The funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons Tim Polkinghorne, Gary Perdue, Ken Pollard, Randy Perdue, Lance Bashaw and Rudy Avila.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with funeral arrangements.

Irving G. Olsen
KINGSFORD - Irving G. Olsen, 85, of 1864 Mary's Way, Kingsford, formerly of Escanaba, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green bay, Wis.
Irving was born on May 5, 1918, in Homestead, Wis., the son of the late Einar and Ruth (Mild) Olsen. He graduated from Kingsford High School in 1935 and from business school in 1938.
He served with the United States Army for four years during World War II and was honorably discharged as a captain with the Transportation Corps.
He married Wanda Gross on Jan. 10, 1942, in Aurora, Wis.
Irving began his working career with Kalamazoo Stove and Furnace in sales and later as Upper Peninsula district manager until 1942. Transportation was to remain his interest for many years as he joined the Cochran Freight Lines in Iron Mountain in 1947 as operations manager and then had the same responsibility with Clairmont Transfer. He moved to Escanaba in 1964 to become the executive vice president and general manager of Clairmont. In 1973, Irving retired as vice president and general manager after 25 years with the company.
After retirement, he worked part-time in public relations for the State Bank of Escanaba and later as industrial relations representative for the Escanaba Foundation.
Irving was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Iron Mountain. He was active in the Dickinson County Chamber of Commerce while in Iron Mountain and the Delta County Chamber of Commerce in Escanaba. He had also worked on fund-raising drives for a variety of charities.
He was active in the Masonic Order including the Consistory and Shrine. He was past president of the Wisconsin Trucking Association and past president of the Chippewa Club. His family was his life. He enjoyed remodeling, carpentry, skiing and golfing. He had a hole-in-one at the Lake Bluff Country Club in 1997.
Irving was preceded in death by two sisters, Arlene Olson and Doris DeClark.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda; his sons, Glenn (Judy) Olsen of Coudersport, Pa., Gary (Debbie) Olsen of Escanaba, Greg (Julie) Olsen of Strongsville, Ohio and Gene (Colleen) Olsen of Manitowoc, Wis.; a brother, Roland (Judy) Olsen of Iron Mountain; a sister, Carol (Lloyd) Pryor of Kingsford; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Rev. Michael March and Rev. David Anderson will co-officiate.
A memorial will be established in his memory.
Burial will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.

Domenic Novara
KINGSFORD - Domenic Novara, 92, of Maryhill Manor in Niagara, formerly of 621 W. Sagola Ave., Kingsford, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
Domenic was born Oct. 17, 1911, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Carlo and Nevina (Fornango) Novara.
He married the former Valda Pizzatti on Sept. 25, 1937, in Iron River. She preceded him in death on Dec. 11, 1992.
Domenic worked as a bricklayer for Novara Bros. and was a member of the Bricklayers Union. He was also a member of the American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. He enjoyed working on small engines and woodworking.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, James and Joseph Novara; and a sister, Rose Novara.
He is survived by two sons, Raymond (Caryl) Novara of Milan, lower Michigan and Michael (Pamela) Novara of Kingsford; three daughters, Barbara (Gary) Johnson, Donna (Novara) Pouliot, and Mary (Jeffrey) Chartier, all of Kingsford; 12 grandchildren, Kevin (Melissa) Johnson, Jeff Johnson, Michelle and Jason Pouliot, Jill (John) Nekhay, Jamie Chartier, Amy Novara, David (Meegan) Novara, John (Nikki) Novara, Gina Koski, and Jennifer and Suzanne Novara; and six great-grandchildren, Cody, Christopher, Jade, Savanna, Dylan, and Megan.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Parish prayers will be recited today at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Johnson, Jeff Johnson, Jason Pouliot, Jamie Chartier, David Novara, and John Novara.
The family requests that flowers be omitted.

Delores H. Chiapusio
IRON MOUNTAIN - Delores H. Chiapusio, 79, of 1421 W. Hughitt St., Iron Mountain, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford. She died peacefully in her sleep after many difficult months with her illness.
She was born July 18, 1924, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Roy and Helen Sovey. She was a lifelong resident of the area and graduated from Iron Mountain High School with the class of 1942.
Delores married Domenic Chiapusio on Oct. 6, 1945, at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain, the church she attended since her childhood.
She was a member of the Iron Mountain-Kingsford Women's Club, the Daughters of Isabella, a lifetime member of the Menominee Range Historical Foundation, and a former member of the Pine Grove Country Club and the Tuesday Morning Women's Golf League.
Golfing and snowmobiling were hobbies of Dee's in past years. She never tired of playing a game of cards and loved her flowers. An important part of their lives, Dee and Dom enjoyed their camp at Peavey Falls, the 'Wop Stop, ' where family and friends were always welcome for a visit.
Delores is survived by her husband, Domenic; a daughter, Dianne Castelaz-Chiapusio of Norway; a son, John (Sandra) Chiapusio of Waukesha, Wis.; her grandchildren, David (Terri) Castelaz, Dawn (Brian) Burcar, Christopher (Cindy) Chiapusio, Scott Chiapusio, John (Wynne) Slusar and Christopher (Lisa) Slusar; her great-grandchildren, Amber, Christine and Heather Burcar, Payton Castelaz and Marcus and Cassandra Treiber, Keith (Kayla) Burcar, Crystal Burcar, Natalie, Mitchell, Madeline and Nicholas Slusar, and Victoria and Christopher Chiapusio; one great-great grandchild, Kelly Burcar; a sister, Kathleen (Marvin) Fayas of Iron Mountain; two brothers, Raymond (Rose) Sovey and Joseph Sovey, both of Iron Mountain, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Dolores Sovey, and one great-grandchild.
Visitation was held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. The Daughters of Isabella recited the rosary at noon today at the funeral home.
The Mass of Christian Burial was held at 1 p.m. today at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Daniel Zaloga officiated.
Burial will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
Pallbearers were David Castelaz, Brian Burcar, Keith Burcar, Jeff Fontecchio, Jim Sovey, and Daron Fayas.
The family requests that flowers be omitted.

Katherine Tedeschi
IRON MOUNTAIN - Katherine A. Tedeschi, 85, formerly of 1012 West A St., Iron Mountain, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at San Luis Manor in Green Bay, Wis.
Mrs. Tedeschi was born June 10, 1918, in Crystal Falls, daughter of John and Zuzanna Sekerka. She lived most of her life in Iron Mountain and graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1935.
She was employed by SBC-Michigan Bell for 43 years. She loved her work.
Mrs. Tedeschi was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain and was a past member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very, very much.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore; a brother, Samuel; and her parents.
She leaves a son, Thomas (Karen) Tedeschi of Green Bay; a daughter, Mary (Russell) Johnson of Aurora, Wis.; a brother, John (Willimena) Sekerka of Portland, Ore.; a sister-in-law, Patricia (Samuel) Sekerka of Clermont, Fla.; six grandchildren, Michael, David and Laura Tedeschi, Lisa (Joe) Witynski, Sheryl (Joe) Schomer, and Scott (Beth) Johnson; five great-grandchildren, DoriAnne and Andrew Vassar, Benjamin Johnson, and Josh and Stacey Schomer.
Visitation will be held today from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. in Green Bay. A memorial service will be held today at 7 p.m. at the funeral home in Green Bay.
Visitation will also be held Saturday from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. A prayer service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home in Iron Mountain. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate. Burial will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory.

Irene V. Baldinelli
IRON MOUNTAIN - Irene V. Baldinelli, 93, of 1020 W. Hughitt St., died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She was born Feb. 23, 1910, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Frank and Ann (Sachetti) Cerasoli.
She attended Iron Mountain Schools. Irene married Dominick Baldinelli at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on June 23, 1928, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 1984.
She worked for Spiegel for many years in the Chicago area before moving back to Iron Mountain in 1964 with her husband. Upon his retirement from Ford Motor Co., she then worked for the El Capitan Restaurant.
Irene enjoyed cooking, baking, and traveling. She was also an avid card player. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where she was a member of many of the ladies organizations.
Irene is survived by her two sons, Robert (Carole) Baldinelli of Iron Mountain and Donald (Mary) Baldinelli of South Bend, Ind.; two brothers, Attilio Cerasoli of Caspian and Albert (Arlene) Manfredi of Iron River; an aunt, Mary Coombs; six grandchildren, Irene (Stanley) Grzesik of LaGrange Park, Ill., Robert (Ann) Baldinelli of Tinley Park, Ill., Dorothy (Glen) Mesck of Woodbridge, Ill., Pamela Baldinelli of Riverside, Ill., Charles (Mary) Baldinelli of Des Moine, Iowa, and Lauren (Marcus) Wanez of Westchester, Ill.; 12 great-grandchildren all from Illinois; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
The funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory.

Alvin Miller
FLORENCE, Wis. - Alvin Howard 'Alvie' Miller, 71, of Keyes Lake in Florence, Wis., formerly of Kingsford, died unexpectedly on Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
He was born May 15, 1932, in Kingsford, son of Bert and Alice (Fezzat) Miller. He graduated from Kingsford High School in 1951. He lived in Kingsford all his life until 1993, when he and his wife moved to their retirement home on Keyes Lake.
Upon graduation from high school, Alvie enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving his country in the United States and in Germany.
He married Corrine (Corky) Balzola in August of 1955. They raised three children together.
Alvie enjoyed all sports. He coached and played baseball for many seasons. He was a constant and enthusiastic face in the stands at Flivver Field, supporting 'his' school and especially this year, proudly watching his granddaughter cheer and her classmates play. He was also an avid golfer and enjoyed his boat and the wildlife on the lake. Alvie and Corky wintered in Myrtle Beach enjoying friends, golf and the ocean.
Alvie always had a kind word, a friendly hug and a huge smile for everyone he knew. He loved people and people loved him. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved to take them boating and watch them enjoy the water at his home. He had many friends and will be truly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Jean in 1973; his brothers, Harold and David; his sister, Viola Carlson and his favorite mother-in-law, Margaret Balzola.
Alvie is survived by his wife, Corrine; his son, Steve (Mary) of Iron Mountain; his son, Chris (Catherine) of DePere, Wis.; his grandchildren, Stephanie, Nicholas, Matthew and Claire; his brothers, Norman and Arnold (Mary); his sisters, Arvella Rudd, Shirley (William) Grailer and Rosemary (Donald) Phillips; his sisters-in-law, Gertrude Miller and Connie Balzola Flemington; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ed Miller, John Miller, Steve Miller and Chris Miller.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.
