Donald Hyland
IRON MOUNTAIN - Donald Hyland, 91, of 601 East G St., Iron Mountain, died Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at Hyland Nursing Home in Iron Mountain.
Don was born on Feb. 20, 1913, in Little Suamico, Wis., son of the late Abe and Mary (Rowell) Hyland. He served in the United States Army from 1940 to 1945.
Don married Gladys Olson on July 8, 1950, in Iron Mountain. She preceded him in death on May 19, 1996.
He worked for the Ford Motor Co. for several years. He then worked for the Square D Co. of Milwaukee until retiring and returned to his hometown of Kingsford.
Don was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Kingsford.
Don will be missed by three sisters, Mary Massicotte of Iron Mountain, Violet Putnan of Oconto Falls, Wis. and Doris (Carl) Kriegl of Homestead, Wis.; a special sister-in-law, Bea Johns; a niece, Roxanne Miller; two nephews, Darell and Donald Pugh; and many other nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Jack, Elmer and Robert Hyland and six sisters, Irene Brendemehl, Alice Smith, Peggy Peterson, Rose Geil, Laura Zoeller and Grace Allen.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Deacon Brad Lemke will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Eldred 'Al' Tennermann
KINGSFORD - Eldred 'Al' Tennermann, 68, of Kingsford, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.
He was born on Nov. 3, 1935, in Stambaugh, son of the late Fred and Mary (Varda) Tennermann.
He married Irene Stockstill on March 15, 1958, in Waukegan, Ill. Al had been a resident of the area for 31 years moving here in 1973. He worked as a salesman for City Sales for many years, retiring in 1987.
Al was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spending time boating at his cottage on the Menominee River. He also loved to watch his grandchildren play sports.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Irene; two daughters, Pam (Mark) Meneghini of Norway and Paula (Rick) Schillerstrom of Kingsford; a brother, Earl (Pat) Tennerman of Gurnee, Ill.; a sister, Ethel (James) Herman of Antioch, Ill. and four grandchildren, Nathan and Jake Meneghini and Janelle and Heather Schillerstrom.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Kingsford Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Stephen Cowen will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Kingsford with the funeral arrangements.

Wilbur Steinbrecher
FELCH - Wilbur B. Steinbrecher, 89, of W5459 Lindholm Drive, Felch, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004, after a long illness.
He was born on Oct. 6, 1914, in Daggett, the son of the late Eugene and Elizabeth (Srnka) Steinbrecher. Wilbur was raised in Daggett.
He married Gunhild Anderson on Nov. 11, 1944, at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. They lived in South Bend, Ind., St. Louis, Mo. and moved to Felch in 1950.
Wilbur was a lifelong potato farmer and potato broker along with his trucking career. In 1982, Wilbur was named Farmer of the Year for Dickinson County. He was a proud member of the Mac Truck Million Mile Club.
Wilbur enjoyed playing cards and was an avid pool player with his children and grandchildren. He was especially fond of his three chihuahuas; Piccolo, Cocoa and Chip.
He is survived by his wife, Gunhild; nine children, Bonnie Bailey (Don Froberg) of L'Anse, Leon (JoAnne) Steinbrecher of Gladstone, Kathy (Robert) Mattson of Iron Mountain, Linda (John) Newkirk of Green Valley, Ariz., Teresa Bryant (Bob Fuse) of Iron Mountain, Adrian Steinbrecher of Felch, Michael (Pam) Steinbrecher of Felch, Mary Beth (Paul) Schuiteman and Dan (Mary) Steinbrecher of Felch; two brothers, Fabian Steinbrecher and Robert (Dorothy) Steinbrecher, both of Felch; 24 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Wilbur was preceded in death by a son, Mark Steinbrecher; a brother, Eugene Steinbrecher; and five sisters, Ruth Steinbrecher, Grace Nolan, Olive Cappaert, Lucille White, and Anita LaCombe.
Visitation will be on Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain with parish prayers at 7 p.m. There will also be visitation on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Foster City.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Fr. George Kuppayil will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Graveside services will be held in the spring.
Burial will be in the Felch cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.

Herman Kampo
IRON MOUNTAIN - Herman J. Kampo, 86, of W8007 Dawns Lake Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iron Mountain.
Herman was born Oct. 5, 1917, in Milwaukee, son of the late Anton and Emma (Eidtman) Kampo.
He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II in the 32nd Division (Red Arrow Division), where he received the Purple Heart.
Herman married Joyce Fraker on Aug. 9, 1947, in Milwaukee. He retired after 25 years as a painter with the Milwaukee County Parks Service.
Herman volunteered for 12 years as an income tax preparer for those with low income and senior citizens. He loved to fish and enjoyed dancing, and in his younger days, swimming and playing tennis.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; two daughters, Gail (Thomas) Wroblewski of Normal, Ill. and Cherry (Lawrence) Lindberg of Iron Mountain; two grandchildren, Karin (Chris) Severns of Marysville, Ohio and Christopher (Rachel) Wroblewski of Nashville, Tenn.; and two great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Breana Severns.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Meister and Minerva Krueger; and a son, Richard Litersky.
Private family services were held with Rev. David Anderson officiating.
Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park in Milwaukee.

Edward Stenfors
FOSTER CITY - Edward A. Stenfors, 90, of Foster City, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette.
He was born on April 19, 1913, in Foster City, the son of the late Victor and Hilja (Longsea) Stenfors.
Edward worked very hard as a logger and for many years he worked seven days a week. He was a member of the Felch-Breen Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4803. He was an avid reader and liked to travel. He attended the Mission Covenant Church in Foster City.
He is survived by four brothers, Walter Stenfors of Marquette, Albert (Dorothy) Stenfors of Iron Mountain, Roy (Willie Mae) Stenfors of Iron Mountain and Robert (Judy) Stenfors of Spooner, Wis.; two sisters, Bertha V. Carlson of Foster City and Alice (Howard) Carlson of Foster City; two sisters-in-law, Mayme Stenfors of Iron Mountain and Joanne Stenfors of Foster City; many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
Edward was preceded in death by four brothers, Jalmer, Leonard, Gilbert, and Arne Stenfors.
Visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Rev. Lloyd Nelson will officiate.
Burial will be in the Foster City cemetery.
A memorial will be established at the Mission Covenant Church in Foster City.

Audrey Hoyle
IRON MOUNTAIN - Audrey Eleanor Hoyle, 90, formerly of N3751 U.S. 2 Moon Lake, Iron Mountain, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.
She was born June 14, 1913, in Iron River, daughter of the late Earnest and Anna (Peterson) Friestrom. She graduated from Kingsford High School in 1930. Audrey attended Dundon School of Business.
She married Robert C. Hoyle at United Methodist Church in Hancock on Dec. 16, 1932. He preceded her in death on Nov. 17, 1999.
Audrey worked with her husband as a bookkeeper for many years. She was a former member of the PEO Sisterhood women's club, the Pine Grove Country Club and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She enjoyed playing bridge, golf and gardening. Audrey loved spending time at camp and in California. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, Dohn Robert (Sally) Hoyle of Brighton, lower Michigan; a daughter, Bonnie Janeshek of Iron Mountain; eight grandchildren, Meredith Hoyle, Robert Hoyle, Drew Burton, Frazer Burton, Price Burton, Audrey (Wade) Liston, Amy (Mike) Hauswirth and Pamela Janeshek; and four great-grandchildren, Brett and Kyle Hauswirth and Wyatt and Kaaren Liston.
Private family services will take place in the spring. Burial will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Menominee Range Historical Museum or the Association for Community Advocacy.

M. Cecille Rapaich
IRON MOUNTAIN - M. Cecille Rapaich, 81, of 511 East 6th St., Iron Mountain, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at her home.
Cecille was born Feb. 1, 1923, in Waterbury, Conn., daughter of the late Clinton and Marie (Cote') Fitch.
She moved to Tennessee at an early age and attended high school at the Notre Dame Academy in Chattanooga, Tenn., graduating in 1940. After high school, she completed a two-year secretarial program.
Cecille married Dan Rapaich on March 31, 1949, in Chattanooga, and since 1951 they resided in the Iron Mountain area. She worked as a secretary for Iron Mountain High School for more than 20 years, retiring in 1993.
Cecille was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain and the Hospital League. She was also an active member of the Dickinson County Republican Party.
She was a avid reader and hobbyist and maintained an active lifestyle, in relative good health, until her death. Cecille shared a love for the Green Bay Packers with her children and grandchildren and relished their company as all cheered enthusiastically for their beloved team on 'Packer Sunday.'
Cecille's adoration for her grandchildren was evident in many ways. Her numerous expressions of love will live on through the personalized Christmas ornaments she crafted every year, in the clothing she sewed for her children and grandchildren, in the knit sweaters and hats she made which warmed them and in the care and creativity she displayed in baking sweets and treats for them. She will be greatly missed.
Cecille is survived by one son, Mark Rapaich of Westfield, Iowa; four daughters, Diane Rapaich of Royal Oak, lower Michigan, Amy (Bruce) Moser of Madison, Wis., Dr. Ellen (Jeff) VanLaanen of Iron Mountain and Lisa (James) Carollo of Iron Mountain; two sisters, Elaine (Earl) Barrows of Waxahachie, Texas and Barbara Fitch of Chattanooga; 12 grandchildren, Allie and Bernadette Rapaich, Katrina and Ben Moser, Hannah, Colin, Russell, Seth, Grace, and Dominic VanLaanen, and Angela and Santino Carollo; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Parish Prayers will be recited at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Dan Zaloga will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dan and Cecille Rapaich Family Scholarship Fund at Iron Mountain High School.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.
