Janet St. Amour
IRON MOUNTAIN - Janet Marie St. Amour, 68, of 1408 West C St., Iron Mountain, died Sunday, June 20, 2004, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born June 29, 1935, in Milwaukee, daughter of the late Joseph G. and Estelle (Mehl) Aussprung.
Janet graduated from Alverno College in Milwaukee with a bachelor's degree in nursing.
She married Richard St. Amour on April 4, 1959, at St. John Depomuc Catholic Church in Milwaukee.
She worked as a registered nurse at the Milwaukee County Hospital and at the V.A. Hospital. She was also the director of nursing at two of the local nursing homes, Americana and Florence Villa.
She was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church. Janet enjoyed traveling and arts and crafts. Her family was the most important thing in her life.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; four sons, Stephen (Michele) St. Amour of Wauwatosa, Wis., James W. (Shawne) St. Amour of Woodbridge, Va., Marc (Lori) St. Amour of Gross Pointe Park, lower Michigan, and Richard (Kristi) St. Amour of Findlay, Ohio; one daughter, Aline M. St. Amour of Langley Air Force Base, Va.; one brother, George (Mary) Aussprung of Burlington, Wis.; and five grandchildren, Caitlin, Sabine, Mathieu, Elliott, and Nicholas.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, July 2, 2004, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dickinson County Cancer Unit at 1401 1/2 S. Carpenter Ave., Iron Mountain, Mich. 49801, or can be reached at (906) 776-0966.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Arthur J. Vandervest
NIAGARA, Wis. - Arthur J. Vandervest, 57, of N21507 West Road, Niagara, Wis., died Thursday, June 17, 2004 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Iron Mountain on Nov. 19, 1946, the son of the late Lloyd and Orez (Dumais) Vandervest. Art was raised in the Detroit area and moved back to this area in the early '70s.
He married Frances VerBurst on Oct. 10, 1992.
He was a carpenter by trade and had worked for several contractors and for himself before he retired due to illness.
He is survived by his wife, Fran; his four children, Mark (Pam) Vandervest of Lansing, lower Michigan, Erik (Jamie) Rasmussen of Ft. Campbell, Ky., Kate Rasmussen and Megan Rasmussen, both of Green Bay, Wis.; three grandchildren, Eric and Luke Vandervest and Hailey Rasmussen; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Monday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society-Relay for Life 1400 S. Carpenter Ave., Iron Mountain, MI 49801.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Alton H. Wickman
QUINNESEC - Alton H. Wickman, 89, formerly of Quinnesec, died Monday, June 14, 2004, at ManorCare Health Care Services in Kingsford.
He was born in Felch on March 16, 1915, the son of the late Andrew and Johanna (Hendrickson) Wickman.
Alton married Eda Dinnocenzo on June 19, 1937, in Iron Mountain and they loved and honored one another for 61 years prior to Eda's passing away on May 28, 1999.
Mr. Wickman was a graduate of the National Hardwood Lumber Inspection School in Memphis, Tenn. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. His garden was one of his hobbies along with woodworking and the making of his famous wine. Camp will not be the same without him.
He was a devoted husband and father and always placed his family first.
Mr. Wickman worked on the Alcan Highway, Columbia Lumber Co. in Sitka, Alaska, Cleveland Cliffs Forestry Division, U.S. Steel, Ford Motor Co., Kingsford Chemical Co., Goodman Forest Products, and retired as a machinist from Lake Shore Inc. in 1977.
He leaves two sons, Tom (Pat) Wickman of Breitung Township and Bob (Ginny) Wickman of Grand Rapids, Minn.; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, Dean (Teresa) Wickman (Jordan and Jade) of Quinnesec, Beth (Marc) Von Amsberg (Audrey and Eric) of Charlotte, N.C., Brenda (Todd) Johnson (Paul, Patrick, Renee and Miranda of Breitung Township, Andrew (Tammy) Wickman (Devin, Taylor, Sydney, and Sabrina) of Quinnesec, Trent (Kim) Wickman (Grant and Ryan) of Duluth, Minn. and Nicole (Mike) Hoops of St. Paul, Minn.
Alton was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sandra Joy and 10 brothers and sisters, Agnes York, Anna Bandt, Ellen Ponchaud, Myrtle Branstrom, and Andy, John, Alfred, Warner, Wallace, and Rueben Wickman.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
His grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.

Lucille Hansen
IRON MOUNTAIN - Lucille G. Hansen, 90, of 310 E. Margaret St., Iron Mountain, passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2004, at her home.
Lucille was born on Sept. 16, 1913, in Iron River, the daughter of the late Henry and Charlotte (Day) Gribbon.
She was born and raised in this area and graduated from Quinnesec High School. She married her husband Russell Hansen in 1935 and he preceded her in death in 1990.
Lucille spent 40 years in Milwaukee before returning to Iron Mountain following retirement in 1990. Lucille was a member of Quinnesec United Methodist Church.
Lucille is survived by her sons, Gary Hansen of Milwaukee, Neil (Pat) Hansen of Quinnesec and Reid (Sharon) Hansen of Quinnesec; a daughter, Pam (Pete) Goralski of Milwaukee; grandchildren, Susan, Kelly and Brian Hansen, Allie and Craig Hansen, Joe (Jen) and Michelle Hansen, Phillip (Allie) and Andrew Goralski and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday morning at the funeral home. Rev. David Snyder will officiate.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Joe and Craig Hansen, Phillip, Andrew and Pete Goralski and Dick Hansen.

Kathleen Sleik
IRON MOUNTAIN - Kathleen (Kay) Dorothy Sleik (nee Day), entered into eternal life on Wednesday, June 9, 2004.
Kay was born in London, England on July 26, 1918. She served in the British Fire Service during World War II and met and married her husband, Frank in London in 1943. She has lived in Iron Mountain since 1946.
Kay was instrumental in organizing the War Brides Club and was a talk host on a local radio show about war brides and their transition to America. She served two six year commissions for the State of Michigan.
Kay was president of Immaculate Conception Church Guild and Immaculate Conception School PTA. She was very active in the Democratic Party and worked at the Chippewa Club for many years.
Kay will be sadly missed by her husband, Frank, of over 60 years; daughter, Janet (Dane) LaGrow; grandsons, Dean (Lori) and Doug, granddaughter, Lisa (Steve); daughter, Beverly (Sam) Rose; Frank (Deborah) Sleik, grandsons, Frank (Jodi), Michael (Andresa), Aaron, and Robert, granddaughters, Kelly, Melissa, Phyllis (Jackie), Amanda (Bobby); son Jim (Debbie) Sleik, grandsons, John, Mick, Paul, Jacob, granddaughters, Jamie, Katie, Sara and Kristen; daughter-in-law, Debbie, grandsons, Brad (Colleen), Brian and Dan; 13 great-grandchildren; special sisters-in-law, Marian Sleik and Ann Sparapani and many other friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her son, Dennis; and her grandson, Tony.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Ray Strong
IRON MOUNTAIN - Ray R. Strong, 82, of 1300 Michigan Ave., Iron Mountain, died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at his home.
He was born on Jan. 19, 1922, in Iron Mountain, the son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Powell) Strong.
He moved to Milwaukee in 1942 and later to Escondido, Calif., where he spent 25 years. He moved back to this area several years ago.
Ray is survived by one son, Steve (Lori) Strong of Lyons, Ore.; one daughter, Echo (Gregory) Heffernan of Oakland, Calif.; one brother, Sam (Evelyn) Strong of Iron Mountain; two grandchildren, Alexis Strong and Sean Quinn and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Betty Collean (Fraker) Strong; three sisters, Dorothy Broom, Barbara Faust and Jean Kerlin;and six brothers, Thomas, William, Ward, Jack, Bob, and Bruce Strong.
A celebration of Ray's life will be held on Sunday at noon at the home of Wayne and Beverly Fraker, 5223 Joe Corn Drive, Iron Mountain (Breitung Township)

Joan Harvey
KINGSFORD - Joan M. Harvey, 63, of 1807 Woodward Ave., Kingsford, died Sunday, May 30, 2004, at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She was born on Dec. 15, 1940, in Norway, the daughter of the late Mario and Mary (Cologna) Perin.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and graduated from Vulcan High School in 1958.
Joan married Bill Harvey on Oct. 18, 1958. They were members of St. Mary Queen of Peace Church in Kingsford.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; two sons, Jim (Kris) Harvey of Menominee and Jeff (Theresa) Harvey of Kingsford; one sister, Lois (James) Hogberg of Faithorn; four grandchildren, Mitchell and Lauren Harvey, and Melissa and Nathan Harvey.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Michael Woempner will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in the Norway Township cemetery.
The family requests that flowers by omitted and memorials be made to the Dickinson Area Catholic School in Joan's memory.

Ruby Sexton
KINGSFORD - Ruby B. Sexton, 79, of 1025 Woodward Ave., Kingsford, died Friday, May 28, 2004, at her home.
She was born April 16, 1925, in Sagola, the daughter of the late Leonard and Lola (Kirkendahl) Bartlett, who were pioneer residents of Sagola. She had been a lifelong resident of this area.
Ruby married Hessie Sexton on Sept. 29, 1941, and he preceded her in death on April 7, 1987.
She retired after 13 years working in the kitchen at Freeman Convalescent Home in Kingsford.
Ruby was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Sagola and the Royal Neighbors of America. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed reading.
In addition to her husband and parents, Ruby was preceded in death by a son, Carl.
She is survived by two sons, James (Grace) Sexton of Sagola and Joe (Dawn) Sexton of Vulcan; two daughters, Bonnie Mayer of Iron Mountain and Cheryl Chartier (Steve McMillan) of Quinnesec; a daughter-in-law, Faye Sexton of Arizona; her grandchildren, Elizabeth McVey, Kathy and Andy Mayer, Michelle Williamson, Stephanie Mansur, Carl and Michael Sexton, Garry Servant, Theresa, David and Brian Sexton, Dustin and Desiree Malone, Tony, Adam and Andy Chartier, and 23 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
