Viola Nordman
QUINNESEC - Viola E. Nordman, 93, of 937 Lake Ave., Quinnesec, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at Hyland Nursing Home in Iron Mountain where she had been a resident for the 1 1/2 years.
Viola was born on July 5, 1911, in Minneapolis, daughter of the late Victor and Emma (Carlson) Swanson. She was a resident of Quinnesec for most of her life and graduated from Quinnesec High School in 1929.
Viola married Arthur Nordman on Oct. 20, 1934, in Quinnesec and he preceded her in death on Sept. 17, 2000.
She was a devoted member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Quinnesec and took an active part in the church's fellowship and bazaars. She also served as a Sunday school superintendent and teacher.
She leaves two brothers, Harry (Ethelyn) Swanson of Quinnesec and Walter Swanson of Lansing; a sister, Evelyn Piper of Lansing; and many nieces and nephews.
Viola was preceded in death by a brother, Gordon Swanson; a sister, Isabelle Larson and two infant siblings.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Quinnesec.
Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Cynthia Cowen, licensed lay minister, will officiate.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Viola's name to the Calvary Lutheran Church memorial fund.

Fr. William Callari
VULCAN - Fr. William P. Callari, 68, Pastor of St. Barbara Parish, Vulcan, died in the Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, Wis.
Father Callari was born on Aug. 26, 1936, in Escanaba, the son of the late Joseph and Katherine (LaChappel) Callari. He was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Marquette on April 27, 1979, at St Louis the King Church in Marquette (Harvey), Mich., by Bishop Mark F. Schmitt. He received his seminary studies at Sacred Heart School of Theology in Hales Corner, Wis., and received a diploma in Religious Education from the Pius XII Religious Education Center in Detroit. Prior to being ordained as a priest, Father Callari served as a religious brother with the Brothers of St. Pius X, at LaCrosse, Wis. Diocesan Institute where he taught high school for 20 years.
Father Callari's priestly assignments include: St. Mary Parish, Norway; St. Mary Mission, Quinnesec, St. Ignatius Loyola Parish, Houghton; St. Mary Mission, Atlantic Mine; Administrator of St. Anne Parish, Chassell; Holy Family Parish, South Range; Pastor of St. Albert the Great Parish, Houghton; and since 1997, as Pastor of St. Barbara Parish, Vulcan.
In addition to his pastoral assignments, Father Callari served as a member of the Diocesan Board of Education/Formation and held membership in the National Association of Catholic Chaplains as a substance abuse counselor. Father Callari was an avid Detroit Lions fan. He was very devoted to the Diocese, serving his parishioners faithfully for many years. Please remember him in your prayers.
He is survived by his sister, Joyce (Ken) Limberg of Owensville, Mo. several nieces and nephews, and his dog and special friend, Scooter.
Father Callari was preceded in death by two brothers, Father Joseph Callari and David Callari.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at St. Barbara Catholic Church in Vulcan and from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Monday prior to the funeral mass.
The Most Reverend James H. Garland, Bishop of the Diocese of Marquette, will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial for Father Callari at 11 a.m. on Monday at St. Barbara Catholic Church.
Burial will take place at Holy Cross cemetery in Escanaba.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Barbara's Catholic Church Memorial Fund.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home with the funeral arrangements.

Bruce Carpenter
KINGSFORD - Bruce L. Carpenter, 78, of 108 Lawrence St. Kingsford, went home to meet his Lord, Friday, Sept. 24, 2004, at Marquette General Hospital.
Bruce was born on March 28, 1926, in Kingsford, son of the late Jesse and Elsie (McMahon) Carpenter.
He married Carmaine 'Connie' Sorenson in June of 1949 in Kingsford.
Bruce owned and operated the Blackstone Taxi and Wrecker Service in the 1950s. He was a school bus driver for the Iron Mountain Public Schools and was known as 'Blackie.' Bruce also worked the Green Bay to Iron River run for Wisconsin-Michigan Coaches until a heart attack made him retire. He was an elder and active member of Balsam Street Christian Church. Bruce loved woodworking, rug weaving, creating cards on his computer and playing with his dog, Pushon. He had a quick wit, which made people laugh and always answered the phone 'Jesus loves you.' Bruce loved all people, young and old. He was a very special person and will be missed by all who loved him.
He leaves his wife, Connie; a brother, Clyde (Lorraine) Carpenter; three sisters, Arlene Anderson, Sarajane Hochmuth, and Nona (Lyle) Troutman; nieces and nephews who were like his own children, Jodi (Jaime) Goulette and their children, Tara, Amber, and Ashley, and Jeff (Cindy) Kleinschmidt and their children, Justin, Brooke, and Kimberly; several nieces and nephews; and his great-great nephew who brought him so much joy the past 22 months, Gavin Goulette.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at the Balsam Street Christian Church in Kingsford.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at the church. Pastor Don Hochmuth will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.

Renee A. Anderson
BREITUNG TOWNSHIP - Renee A. Anderson, 53, of N3905 Pine Mountain Road, Breitung Township, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, at Aurora Bay Care Hospital in Green Bay, Wis., after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on June 29, 1951, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Leonard and Roberta (Richards) Paquin.
Renee has been a resident of Iron Mountain for most of her life. She spent about 15 years in the Chicago area where she worked as a beautician. She has been back in Iron Mountain for the past seven years.
She worked as a manager and purchasing agent for Value Added Distributors in the Iron Mountain Industrial Park for the past five years.
On Oct. 15, 1999, Renee married Joseph M. Anderson in Iron Mountain. Renee enjoyed spending time with her husband in the outdoors and fishing, and enjoyed going to the Hitch'n Post and the movies.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Anderson; four brothers, Leonard Paquin of East Kingsford, Ted (Sylvia) Paquin of Iron Mountain, Lester (Betty) Paquin of Utica, lower Michigan and Randy Paquin of Iron Mountain; three sisters, Marie Hicks of Aurora, Wis., Sheila (James) Walters of Hornlake, Miss., and Rochelle (Larry) Short of Libertyville, Ill.; three stepchildren, Tricia (Jason) Wilke of Goodyear, Ariz., Joseph (Shelly) Anderson Jr. of Clarkston, lower Michigan, and Michael Anderson of Avondale, Ariz.; 25 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Christopher Rahoi.
Visitation will be held on today from noon until 2:30 p.m. at the Kingsford Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be held today at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate.
The family request that flowers be omitted.

Carl Kazianka
IRON MOUNTAIN - Carl J. Kazianka, 82, of 1424 W. Hughitt St., Iron Mountain, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
Carl was born Oct. 8, 1921, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Carl and Elizabeth (Kuss) Kazianka. He graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1939.
Carl married Kathleen Chandler in July of 1944 in Iron Mountain. She preceded him in death in January of 1985.
Carl owned and operated Kazco Tool and Die in Milwaukee for many years. Soon after retiring in 1987, he moved back to Iron Mountain.
Carl married Marian (Jensen) St. Arnauld on Feb. 17, 1989, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain.
He was a longtime member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Pine Grove Country Club and Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Carl enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his wife, Marian; a son, John (Stephanie) Kazianka of Lompoc, Calif.; two daughters, Karla Kazianka of Milwaukee and Reena Kazianka of Sparta, Wis.; a stepdaughter, Sharon Laubenstein of Green Bay, Wis.; a brother, Eddie Kazianka of Iron Mountain; two sisters, Mary (Alvin) Bauer and Ann Bauer, both of Milwaukee; several grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Carl was also preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Kazianka and a sister, Betty Schupp.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.to noon on Saturday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday at the funeral home. Rev. Lee Liverance will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.

Joyce Baldinelli
IRON MOUNTAIN - Joyce C. Baldinelli, 75, of 1220 1/2 Devereaux St., Iron Mountain, died on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.
She was born on Nov. 23, 1928, in Iron Mountain, the daughter of the late Herbert and Augusta (Busse) Waltz. She was a 1946 graduate of Kingsford High School.
Joyce was a very active member of First Lutheran Church and had worked as the church janitor, served as church treasurer and spent many years in charge of the church funeral committee.
In her younger years, she was an avid golfer and bowler. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing cards, and traveling. Joyce loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She leaves her son, Dennis Baldinelli of Kingsford; daughter, Debby (Ehi) Izirein of Ypsilanti, lower Michigan; three grandchildren, Ailohi, Emijoy, and Jesi; two sisters, Joan (Curtis) Oberthaler of Norway and Irma Eisenmann of Sun City, Ariz.; a special friend, Donna Jensen and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sister, Judith Owsley and June Peskey.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon on Friday at the First Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday at the church. Rev. Peter Jonas will officiate.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory at First Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain.
