Antoinette Markosen
KINGSFORD - Antoinette "Toni" Markosen, 86, of 617 E. Sagola Ave. in Kingsford, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004, at Freeman's Nursing Center in Kingsford.
She was born Feb. 15, 1918, in Negaunee, daughter of the late Herman and Lillie (Burke) Thibault.
Mrs. Markosen worked as a waitress and as a nurse's aide. She was a member of American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford and was a longtime member of its St. Rita's Circle. She enjoyed playing cards and singing and also belonged to a cribbage league.
She is survived by three daughters, Joyce (Jim) Laughlin of Middlebury, Ind., Judith Perszyk of West Allis, Wis. and Jean E. Markosen of Oakland, Calif.; one son, James (Vickie) Markosen of Lutz, Fla.; one brother, Clement Thibault of Anderson, Calif.; a sister, Rita (Frank) Calliari of Lake, lower Michigan; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her former husband, Earl Markosen of Aurora, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Raymond Thibault; one sister, Clarabelle Vigo; and a son-in-law, William Perszyk.
Visitation will be held Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford.
The funeral Mass will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the church.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.
The Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home of Iron Mountain is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dr. John Rahm
SPREAD EAGLE, Wis. - Dr. John Paul 'J.P.' Rahm, 77, of Spread Eagle, died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004, at the VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain.
He was born Jan. 12, 1927, in Iron Mountain, son of the late J. Paul and Violet (Sandine) Rahm. He was a graduate of Iron Mountain High School, class of 1945. John served in the Navy during World War II.
J.P. did his undergraduate studies at Northern Michigan University and graduated from the University of Michigan - School of Medicine. John began his career as a surgeon in 1958 in Monona, Wis.
He married Betty Alaxson on Oct. 28, 1966, and they resided in Monona until his retirement in 1995.
John was proud of his medical practice and enjoyed being a caregiver. He also enjoyed golf, tennis, boating, and photography. Since retiring, they have resided in Spread Eagle and Long Boat Key, Fla. John was a member of the First Covenant Church and Longboat Island Chapel.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Rahm of Spread Eagle; four sons, Paul (Cindy) Rahm of Sussex, Wis., Stig Rahm of Verona, Wis., Tory (Darcy) Rahm of Denver, and Tim (Andrea) Rahm of Sheboygan, Wis.; one brother, Stan (Mary Ann) Rahm of Minneapolis; six grandsons, Travis Hefty, Shawn Hefty, Justin Rahm, Anders Rahm, Erik Rahm, and Jakson Rahm.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday at the First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday at the church. Rev. Peter Erickson and Rev. Rodney M. Johnson will co-officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Memorial Hospice program or the American Cancer Society.
The Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.

James Servia
QUINNESEC - James P. Servia, 86, of Quinnesec, died on Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.
He was born on Aug. 21, 1918, the son of the late John and Tresa (Varda) Servia.
Mr. Servia served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He worked as a welder for General Motors at the Fischer Body Plant in Maryland.
He moved to Quinnesec in 1977 from Baltimore and had belonged to St. Mary Catholic Church in Quinnesec. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and bowling. He was a past officer of the Breen Senior Center.
He married Betty Volk on Feb. 18, 1944, in Baltimore. She preceded him in death on Dec. 5, 2000.
Mr. Servia is survived by two sons, John (Susan) of Oriental, N.C., and his children, Chris, Jeff, and Jordan; and James (Pam) Jr. and his three children; and one sister, Irene VanGoethem of Arizona.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Edwin; and a sister, Ceil Grimord.
At the family's request, there will be no services.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.

Helen Clarke
IRON MOUNTAIN - Helen K. Clarke, 99, formerly of 501 West "B" St. Iron Mountain, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, September 4, 2004 at Freeman's Convalescent Center in Kingsford.
Helen was born June 21, 1905 in Fergus Falls, MN daughter of the late Charles and Katherine (Downey) Gates. She graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1924. Helen went on to attend the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and transferred to the National School of Education in Evanston, IL where she graduated in 1928. She then came to Iron Mountain and taught kindergarten in the public schools and later became the first lay teacher at St. Mary and St. Joseph's Catholic School where she worked until retiring in 1970. Helen married W. Frederick Clarke on October 7, 1933. He preceded her in death on March 23, 1969. She was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Pine Grove Country Club and was a past member of several clubs and organizations. Helen was a devoted mother, grandmother, teacher and friend.
She is survived by two sons, William F. (Eve) Clarke II of Colorado and C. Thomas (Patricia) Clarke of Iron Mountain; daughter-in-law, Shirley Clarke of Iron Mountain; eight grandchildren, William F. Clarke III of Orlando, FL, Lynne (Leon) Sutherland of Traverse City, MI, Cathy (Craig) Anderson of Chicago, IL, Bob (Elizabeth) Clarke of Lynchburg, VA, Tom Clarke of Phoenix, AZ, Tara (David) Daavettila of Brighton, MI, Tiffany Clarke of Grand Rapids, MI and Tamara (Matthew) Nash of Iron Mountain; nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Helen was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, a son, C. Robert Clarke, two brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 to 6:00pm at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Parish prayers will be recited at 6:00pm Monday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00am at St. Mary and St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in Quinnesec cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary and St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Eileen O'Donnell
IRON MOUNTAIN - Eileen M. O'Donnell, of 300 West F St., Iron Mountain, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
Eileen was born in L'Anse, the daughter of the late Joseph and Isabelle (Laundrich) McKindles.
She married Dr. J.C. O'Donnell at Sacred Heart Church in L'Anse. The couple had resided in Iron Mountain for many years. He preceded her in death in 1967.
She was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabella. She loved her children and grandchildren very much. She enjoyed working in the garden with her flowers and vegetables, and also enjoyed crocheting.
She is survived by her three children, John C. O'Donnell of Iron Mountain, Marybelle Johnson of Norway and Robert D. O'Donnell of Green Bay, Wis.; five grandchildren, Leanne (Brian) Wierschke of Niagara, Wis., Brock Johnson of Norway, Kristen Johnson of Green Bay, Kevin Johnson of Norway, and Kelsey Mauthe O'Donnell of Green Bay; three great-grandchildren, Jacob Freeman, Benjamin Johnson, and Ethan Johnson; a sister, Isabelle Roberge of Mound, Minn.; and special friends, Debbie Mauthe, Kim and Don Dinnocenzo, Rose Vondale, and Jeff Olsen.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Parish prayers will be recited at 5:15 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home and 10 a.m. at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Pallbearers will be Ted O'Donnell, Joey Fortier, Don Dinnocenzo, Craig Ebling, Pat O'Donnell, and Jeff Olsen
Burial will be in Norway Township cemetery.

Gervais LaMarche
IRON MOUNTAIN - Gervais G. LaMarche, 80, of 508 Quinnesec St., Iron Mountain, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at the V.A. Medical Center in Iron Mountain.
Gervais was born Feb.15, 1924, in Hurley, Wis., the son of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Gardner) LaMarche. He graduated from Hurley High School in 1941 and went on to complete two years at Gogebic Community College. Gervais was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He married Ruth Reid on May 3, 1948, at St. Ambrose Church in Ironwood. Gervais worked as a self-employed interior decorating contractor for many years until retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church and sang in the choir. Gervais was past post commander of the Ironwood American Legion Post 5, a member of the Carpenter-Clash American Legion Post 363 and the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; a son, Tom (Gwen) LaMarche of Goodyear, Ariz.; five daughters, Mary Pat LaMarche of Wausau, Wis., Elizabeth LaMarche (Larry Klein) of Kincheloe, Maureen (Rick) Paquin of Iron Mountain, Annette (Ron) Alleva of Anchorage, Alaska and Kay (Mark) Shawbitz of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.; one brother, Willard (Crystal) LaMarche of Norway; 17 grandchildren, Patrick, Marissa, Erik, Angela, Teri, Lori, Jaime, Nick, Tony, Jacques, Jesse, Aron, Jasmine, Jordan, Daniel, Kevin and Kara; and seven great-grandchildren.
Gervais was preceded in death by a son, Reid LaMarche; three sisters and four brothers.
Visitation will be Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will officiate.
Burial will be in Riverside cemetery in Ironwood.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the arrangements.

Cathy Barkle
QUINNESEC - Cathy A. Barkle, 47, of Quinnesec, has passed on to her eternal rest, to be with her mother.
She was born on June 13, 1957, in Iron Mountain, daughter of Ronald Larson and the late Gail (Nelson ). Cathy graduated from Kingsford High School in 1975 and has been a resident of this area her entire life.
Cathy was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed going to the casino.
She is survived by two daughters, Christina (Dennis) Schuirmann of Quinnesec and Missy (Ross Emmrich) Barkle of Kingsford; her father, Ronald Larson of Kingsford; a brother, John (Beth) Larson of Jacksonville, Fla.; three sisters, Lori (Tom) Plante of Kingsford, Lynn (John Dallapiazza) Larson of Kingsford and Robyn (Scott Bellmore) Haupricht of Kingsford; three grandchildren, Zachary and Alan Schuirmann and Makayla Kirby; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a brother, Brian Larson and her stepfather, Donald Foss.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a. m. at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. Memorial services will follow at 11:30 a.m.
A memorial will be established in her memory.

Bernice Erickson
IRON MOUNTAIN - Bernice Erickson, 89, of Iron Mountain, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She was born July 12, 1915, in Iron River, daughter of the late Alexander and Edith Mae (Rogers) James.
Bernice graduated from Iron River High School in 1933.
She married Ruben Erickson on Sept. 8, 1940, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Iron River. He preceded her in death on April 2, 1996.
Bernice has been a resident of the area since 1947, coming from Iron River. She worked at S.S. Kresge as an office cashier until her retirement in 1977.
She was an active member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, serving as treasurer for many years, serving on the altar guild, and working with the women's groups at church. She loved spending time with her family. Bernice enjoyed knitting, gardening, letter writing, crossword puzzles, and jigsaw puzzles.
She is survived by her three daughters, Margaret Scafuri of Honolulu, Carolyn (Richard) Giancola of Kingsford, and Nikki Arlene Clawson of Kingsford; a sister, Lucille Sjolund of Milwaukee; seven grandchildren, Denise (Richard) Lindstrom, Steven (Letty) Lantagne, Shelley (Scott) Celello, Angela Lantagne, Capt. Kenneth (Gloria) Clawson, Eric Clawson (Jackie Plank), and Cassandra Clawson; 12 great-grandchildren, Nichole (Dave) Annear, Tara, Shane, Scott, and Anthony DeCremer, Alyssa and Marcus Celello, Courtney and Nicholas Lantagne, and Forrest, Ian, and Coleman Clawson; a great-great granddaughter, Tailor Rae Annear. Bernice is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Alexander James.
There will be a memorial service at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church on Saturday at 5 p. m. Fr. Charlie Piper will officiate.
The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the memorial service.
Burial of ashes will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the arrangements.
