Bertha Moroni
IRON MOUNTAIN - Bertha Moroni, 95, of 401 East D St., Iron Mountain, went to be with the Lord and His Blessed Mother on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004.
She was born Aug. 24, 1909, in L'Anse, daughter of the late Zotique and Stephanie (Therault) Morin. Bertha graduated from L'Anse High School in 1928.
She married Frank Moroni on Nov. 28, 1928, in Detroit and shortly thereafter moved to Iron Mountain where she has resided since. Frank preceded her in death in 1981.
Bertha was a stay-at-home mom and was always there for her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Frank Joseph Moroni of Iron Mountain and Lawrence Francis Moroni of Chicago; one daughter, Carolyn Tomasi of Iron Mountain; eight grandchildren, Lynn Marie, Sharon Malone, Sally Benedict, Terry Moroni, Susan Moroni, Shelly, Larry Moroni Jr. and Angelo Moroni; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Jack Tomasi; four brothers; and five sisters.
Burial will be in Dickinson County Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Living Rosary, P.O. Box 1303, Dickinson, Texas 77539.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Jeffrey Hendricks
IRON MOUNTAIN - Jeffery Hendricks, 50, of Iron Mountain, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on Oct.13, 1954, in Iron Mountain, son of Henry (Lydia) Hendricks and the late Peggy Hendricks.
Jeff has been a resident of the area all of his life. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army, and served in Germany. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and going to camp. Jeff was an avid Nascar racing and Tony Stewart fan.
He is survived by his parents, Henry and Lydia Hendricks of Kingsford; a brother, Stewart Hendricks of Niagara, Wis.; two sisters, Sue (Bill) O'Connor of Tomah, Wis. and Judy (Gabriel) Labrador of Plantation, Fla.; a stepbrother, Gary Strohmeir of Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.
He is further survived by special friends Tim & Carla Tippett and family, and Ken & Leona McMahon and family, and many nieces and nephews and other friends
Visitation will be on Friday from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Memorial service will be at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Brad Lemke will officiate.
Burial will be in Dickinson County Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Dickinson County Cancer Unit in memory of Jeff.

Walter Swanson
QUINNESEC - Walter L. Swanson, 87, of Quinnesec, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004, at Ingham Regional Medical Center in Lansing.
He was born Sept. 12, 1917, in Rickardsburg, lower Michigan, son of the late Victor and Emma (Carlson) Swanson. Walter graduated from Quinnesec High School in 1937.
He married Joyce Nelson on May 24, 1941, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. She preceded him in death on July 17, 2004.
Walter was a veteran of World War II. He was in the U.S. Army from August of 1942 until October of 1945, serving in the campaigns in Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe, and the first wave in Normandy.
He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and sang in the church choir and played for fellowship. He enjoyed woodworking, music, and singing.
Walter is survived by two daughters, Suzanne (William) Long of Grand Ledge, lower Michigan and Penny (Karl) Struble of Lansing; a brother, Harry (Ethelene) Swanson of Quinnesec; a sister, Evelyn Piper of Lansing; two sisters-in-laws, Janet Michaud of Quinnesec and Maryellen Nelson of Ann Arbor, lower Michigan; eight grandchildren, Chad and Heidi Eaton, Michael Parrott, William (Deborah) Long Jr., Bryan and Aaron Long, Shannon (Mark) Martin, and Joshua Struble; nine great-grandchildren, Jordan Eaton, Kristin, and Aliyah Eaton, Jaylin and Caleb Cooper, Austin and Macon Martin, Sydney Long and Christopher Briggs; a special niece, Kathy (Deen) Michaud; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend from World War II, Ray Grilli of Syracuse.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Allan Swanson; two brothers, Gordon and John Edward Swanson; and two sisters, Isabelle Larson and Viola Nordman.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Quinnesec.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Rev. Jim Holmberg will officiate. Burial will be at cemetery Park.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial can be made to the Calvary Lutheran Church in Quinnesec in Walter's memory.

Irene Hayes
NIAGARA, Wis. - Irene Alice Hayes, 73, of Niagara, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, in Kingsford.
She was born Nov. 19, 1930, in Niagara, the daughter of the late Dewey and Irene (Peters) Freeman.
Alice was a lifelong resident of the area. She worked at Rodman's Bridge Inn for more than 20 years.
She was a member of American Martyrs Catholic Church and enjoyed making crafts, sewing, gardening, and playing cards.
Alice especially enjoyed helping others and in their time of need, she would be the first one there to lend a hand.
She married Eddie Hayes in July of 1954 in Kingsford.
Alice is survived by her husband, Eddie; one son, Patrick of Kingsford; one daughter, Shelley Liljequist of Kingsford; one brother, Morris 'Bruce' (Rozanne) Freeman of Niagara; three sisters, Anna Mae (Ray) Larsch of Kingsford, Janet Davis of Niagara and Gladys Van Den Heuvel of Pembine; two special grandchildren Lola and Kyle Liljequist of Kingsford; and many nieces, nephew, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Clarence 'Dennix' Freeman, George Freeman, John Rufus Freeman and Edwin 'Putty' Freeman and two sisters, Carmen Harvath and Mabel Chartier.
Visitation was held Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Fr. Joseph Gouin officiated. Burial was in the Quinnesec cemetery.
The Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Lorna Hord
IRON MOUNTAIN - Lorna O. Hord, 88, of Iron Mountain, died Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, at her home.
She was born May 1, 1916, in Coleman, lower Michigan, daughter of the late Earl and Lucrica (Knapp) Davis. Lorna was a resident of this area for most of her life and graduated from Kingsford High School in 1934.
She married Roy A. Hord on Feb. 19, 1936, in Iron Mountain.
She was a devout Christian and very active at the First Covenant Church. Her family was the center of her life and she fully enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Roy A. Hord; two sons, Duane (Lois) Hord of Cape Coral, Fla. and Crystal Falls and Lloyd (Patty) Hord of Kingsford; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Hord; one sister, Ethel Bryngelson of Marshall, lower Michigan; seven grandchildren, Steve, Jeff and Tammy Hord, Susan Bown and James Hord, and Scott and Jerrod Hord; and nine great-grandchildren, Jason, Meagan, Lisa, Mari Lee, Kaitlyn, Austin, Jaydon, Tyler and Patton.
She was preceded in death by her son, Fred in 1995, and by four brothers, Walter, Orville, Kenneth, and LeRoy Davis and one sister, Thelma Razor.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday at the First Covenant Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the church. Rev. Peter Erickson will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Jim Hord, Steve Hord, Scott Hord, Jeff Hord, and Jerrod Hord.
Burial will be in the Homestead-Aurora cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the arrangements.

Marie Peters
KINGSFORD - Marie D. Peters, 92, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.
She was born June 9, 1912, in Florence, Wis., daughter of the late Fred and Freda (Pultz) Miller. Marie helped raise many of the 10 children while living in Alpha, helping her mother with many chores and duties.
She was married to Gera Peters of Fairbury, Ill. and he preceded her in death in July 1996. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Rev. John Miller, Fred 'Fritz' Miller and Wilbur Miller.
Marie was an active member of the home extension programs, Royal Neighbors of America and a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She was very well liked by all that knew her and was always willing to help others.
She loved crafting and enjoyed driving her friends to church, rides in the countryside, or to the fair and many other doings. She loved the outdoors, fishing, berry picking with her brother, Bob and many other activities and events.
Marie is survived by a son, Michael (Trish) Peters of Fairbury, Ill.; three daughters, MaryLou (Bud) Burkart of Bloomington, Ill., Betty (Earl) Steffan of Fairbury, Ill. and Charlotte (Stuart) Griffan of Fortville, Ind.; five brothers, Charles, Bill and Jim Miller, all of Alpha, Clarence Miller of Wayne, lower Michigan and Bob (Jeanne) Miller of Kingsford; a sister, Mae Nicholson of Crystal Falls; sisters-in-law, Irene Miller of Crystal Falls, Alice Miller of Houston, Texas and Justine Miller of Grand Rapids, lower Michigan; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery in Crystal Falls.
The family has entrusted the the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the arrangements.

Marie Ann Bianco
IRON MOUNTAIN - Marie Ann Bianco, 42, of 312 W. Ludington St., Iron Mountain, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004.
She was born April 4, 1962, in Taylor, lower Michigan, daughter of the late John and Vivian (Smith) Bianco. She had been a resident of this area for most of her life. Marie attended Iron Mountain High School.
She enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Bianco Jr.
Marie is survived by her special friend and soulmate, Ike Viz; four children, Amanda Bianco of Goose Creek, S.C., Randy Gendron Jr. of Iron Mountain, Matthew Gendron of Iron Mountain and Cora Gendron of Iron Mountain; five brothers and sisters, Sharon (Simon) Stroia of the Florida Keys, JoAnn Bianco of Whitmore Lake, lower Michigan, Sandy (Robert) Zimmerman of Inkster, lower Michigan, Ronald (Kelly) Bianco of Monroe, lower Michigan, and Ricky Bianco of Deltona, Fla.; special friends, Sally Deau of Quinnesec and Linda Seelund of Iron Mountain; her godchild, Quentin Lindholm, and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday at Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.
A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory.
The family has entrusted the Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.
