Marshall Robinette
HARDWOOD - Marshall George Robinette, 82, of 1561 Hwy M-69, Hardwood, died Friday, February 11, 2005 at the V.A. Medical Center in Iron Mountain. He was born February 22, 1922 in Hardwood, son of the late Joseph and Louise (Peronto) Robinette. Marshall was a 1939 graduate of Felch High School. He married the former Ruthie McMahon on September 4, 1971 in Foster City. She preceded him in death on July 31, 2001. Marshall was a WWII veteran and served with the U.S. Army in the European Theater from 1942 to 1947. After serving his country, Marshall worked as a logger and was the Breen Township Supervisor for 12 years. He eventually took over the Robinette Grocery store in 1961. Marshall was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Foster City and the Felch-Breen VFW Post #4803. He enjoyed playing cards, hunting and building his camp. Marshall was loved by all and will truly be missed by everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Robinette and two sisters, Pearl Davis and Viola Juneau.
Marshall is survived by four brothers, Malvern "Dutch" (Arlene) Robinette, Robert (Nancy) Robinette, Donald (Marie) Robinette and Harold (Carol) Robinette; three sisters, Alice (Harold) Charlevoix, Betty (Earl) Cary, Shirley (Allen) Johnson; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Robinette; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00pm on Thursday, February 17th at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain and from 10:00 to 11:00am on Friday, February 18th at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Foster City. Parish prayers will be recited on Thursday evening at 6:30pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00am at St. Joseph's Church. Fr. George Kuppayil will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in Foster City cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marshall's memory to St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Holly Joy Anderson
IRON MOUNTAIN - Holly Joy Anderson, 46, of 635 East H St., Iron Mountain, passed on unexpectedly on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran NICU Center in Milwaukee.
She was born on Feb. 11, 1958, daughter of Joyce M. (Peterson) Hassell and the late Oscar B. Hassell.
Holly graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1976. She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain. She was employed by the Veteran's Canteen Service at the Veterans Administration Medical Center for 14 years.
Holly enjoyed crossword puzzles, online computer games, was an avid reader and an excellent cook. She especially loved spending time with her granddaughter, Sabre Jane. She also loved her pets, Brandy and Sassy.
She is survived by her mother, Joyce Hassell; one son, Christopher Anderson (Lisa Justice); one granddaughter, Sabre Jane Comeaux; fiance, Andy Owen; brother, Scott (Kim) Hassell; nieces and nephew, April, Tracie, and Dillon Hassell of Colorado Springs, Colo.; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and a special girlfriend, Cara Trecartin of Oshkosh, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her father, Oscar B. Hassell; and grandparents, Axel (Erma) Peterson, and Oscar (Alice) Hassell.
Holly was a very kind and caring person, who always thought of helping others before herself. She will be dearly missed by all those who loved her.
Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon at the First Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain.
The funeral service will be Saturday at 12 noon at the church. Rev. Peter Jonas will officiate.

Etolo Rocconi
IRON MOUNTAIN - Etolo F. 'Rac' Rocconi, 91, of 543 Detroit Ave., Iron Mountain, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at Florence Villa Nursing Home with his wife, Christine, by his side.
He was born Oct. 10, 1913, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Frank and Maria (Filosofi) Rocconi. Rac was a lifelong resident of Iron Mountain and a graduate of Iron Mountain High School where he excelled in music as a trumpet player.
He was a distinguished member of the U.S. Army band in Fort Bragg, N.C. during World War II. It was there that he met and married Christine Smith on March 28, 1946. After the war, Rac was instrumental in forming the Dickinson County Area Band which he directed for 23 years.
He worked as a supervisor for the Iron Mountain Post Office until his retirement in 1971. Rac was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church and a longtime member of the Lions Club. He enjoyed reading, fishing, woodworking and walking. Rac was a devoted and loving spouse, father and grandfather. Fondly remembered as the 'Music Man, ' he often said, 'music was good to me.'
Rac is survived by his wife of 59 years, Christine; a son, Charles Rocconi of Traverse City, lower Michigan; three daughters, Joanne (Michael) Bowen of Boulder, Colo., Patricia Nemode of Traverse City and Janet (Michael) Froze of Cedarburg, Wis.; a sister, Inez Bugni of Iron Mountain; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Daniel, Benjamin, Rachael, Emily, David and Scott; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Angelo, Albert and Ludwig; and two sisters, Helen and Esther.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home and 10 a.m. at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
Pallbearers will be Charles Smith, Stephen McPhail, Eugene Tomassucci, Louis Pucci Jr., Theodore Pucci and Roger Rocconi.
Tom Bugni will serve as the lector during Mass.
Donations can be made in his name to the restoration fund of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Ray Galbraith
AURORA, Wis. - Ray Dean Galbraith, 82, of Aurora went peacefully to be with his Lord on Monday, Feb. 7, 2005.
He was born Feb. 27, 1922, in Gladstone, Ill., the son of the late Lynn and Hester (Cook) Galbraith. Dean graduated from Kingsford High School in 1939 and lived in the area most of his life.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served 27 months overseas in England, Belgium, France and Germany.
Dean married Margaret Peterson on March 24, 1943.
He worked for Lake Shore Inc. for 35 years, retiring in 1984. Dean was a member of First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain, where he sang in the choir for nearly 50 years and also served on the church board. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and farming, which he did for many years.
Dean is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret; four sons, David (Kathy) Galbraith of Dewey, Ariz., Alan Galbraith of Merriman, Jeffrey (Ann) Galbraith of Stevens Point, Wis. and Peter (Shelby) Galbraith of Eau Claire, Wis.; a sister, Florence Frederick of Santa Rosa, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jamie Galbraith; two sisters, Berniece Meier and Joy Ryan; and a grandson, Raymond Galbraith.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain. Rev. Peter Erickson will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
A memorial will be established at the First Covenant Church.

Lillian Forsberg
BREITUNG TOWNSHIP - Lillian O. Forsberg, 83, of W6760 Upper Pine Creek Road, Breitung Township, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, peacefully at her home with her family at her side.
She was born Dec. 16, 1921, in Norway, daughter of the late Richard and Olga (Branback) Norgren.
Lillian was a lifelong resident of the area and married Harold Forsberg on Oct. 26, 1940, in Norway.
They resided in Pine Creek where Lillian enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, and watching and feeding the birds in the yard.
Lillian's family was the most important part of her life and she always put the needs of others before her own. She was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a member of the Upper Pine Creek Birthday Club for more than 40 years.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Harold Forsberg; five children, Dennis (Jeanine) Forsberg of Manitowoc, Wis., Kim (Rachael) Forsberg, Jon Forsberg, and Todd Forsberg, and Diane (Scott) Ohlsen, all of Pine Creek; two sisters, Marion (Jack) Waddell of Dawson Spring, Ky. and Evelyn Langlois of Marinette, Wis.;11 grandchildren; Jodi, James, Kristine, Jeffery, Jean, Laura, Philip, Andrea, Alexandra, Erin and Trevor; and three great-grandchildren; John, Jeremiah, and Jacob; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one grandson; Eric Forsberg and one brother-in-law, Joseph Langlois.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday at the Trinity United Methodist Church.
Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the church. Rev. Dr. Meredith Rupe will officiate. A luncheon will follow.

Norman McKindles Jr.
IRON MOUNTAIN - Norman Donald McKindles Jr., 81, of Iron Mountain, originally of L'Anse, passed away at Hyland Nursing Home in Iron Mountain on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005.
Norman endured many years from Parkinson's Disease and rheumatoid arthritis.
He was born Dec. 19, 1923, in L'Anse, the son of Norman D. McKindles Sr. and Alice (Douville) McKindles.
Norman was a 1942 L'Anse High School graduate and attended both St. Norbert College and Northern Michigan University. Norman was a first lieutenant in the United States Air Force (navigator) and was active in both World War II and the Korean War.
He married Marilyn Francois on May 15, 1954, in L'Anse.
Norman worked as a teacher of biology and chemistry at L'Anse High School. He served many years as a L'Anse School board member and as board president.
He was a radiology technician and laboratory technician at Baraga County Memorial Hospital in L'Anse and eventually worked as supervisor of Nuclear Biophysics Department at both Baraga and Ontonogan Hospitals. He also freelanced in preparing income tax returns.
Norman was a member of Sacred Heart Church in L'Anse and also a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; four sons, Norman 'Mick' (Doreen Coron) McKindles III of Hamilton Lakes, Joseph (Maureen) McKindles of Breitung Township, Timothy (Ruth) McKindles of Oswego, Ill. and Robert (JoAnn) McKindles of Suamico, Wis.; a brother, Patrick McKindles of Florida; two sisters, Lucille Schultz of L'Anse and Mary Alice Havel of Big Bay; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.

Margaret Korten
LANCASTER, Pa. - Margaret Ann (O'Grady) Korten, 91, of 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, formerly of Kingsford, died Wednesday evening, Feb. 2, 2005, in Lancaster.
The daughter of Edward E. and Ann (Franke) O'Grady, she was born Sept. 1, 1913, in Iron Mountain.
While a student at Iron Mountain High School, she attended music camp at Interlochen. She played the French horn under the direction of American composer and conductor John Philip Sousa.
After she graduated in 1931, she went to Northern Michigan Teacher's College (now Northern Michigan University) in Marquette, where she earned her three-year life certificate in 1934 and her bachelor's degree in 1940.
In 1975, she earned her master's degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She was licensed as a reading specialist in 1979.
She wed John Stanley Korten on March 17, 1945, at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. They were married 49 years.
A later elementary school teacher for 28 years, she taught at Immaculate Conception in Iron Mountain, Westwood grade school in Kingsford, and at schools in Gwinn and Saginaw, lower Michigan, and Wauwatosa, Mequon and Cedarburg, Wis. She retired from the Cedarburg School District in 1980.
She was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Lititz, Pa., and a former member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Ozaukee County Retired Teachers Association, Wisconsin Retired Educators' Association and the Ozaukee County Republican Party. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
She is survived by a son, Patrick S. Korten, husband of Anita (Norfolk) Korten of Great Falls, Va.; and a daughter, Jean A. Korten, wife of Carl R. Moser of Lititz; three grandchildren; two sisters, Agnes LaLond of Oshkosh, Wis. and Patricia Jackson of Springfield, Mass.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her husband, John S. Korten, and a daughter, Kathleen Carole Korten, preceded her in death.
A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
A memorial service will follow Thursday at 11 a.m.
Interment will be in cemetery Park.
