Louis B. Nicolas
IRON MOUNTAIN - Louis B. Nicolas, 83, of 714 East "I" St. Iron Mountain, died Tuesday, Dec.14, 2004, at Hyland Nursing Home in Iron Mountain.
Louis was born on July 13, 1921, in Norway, son of the late Alfons and Marie (DeRouck) Nicolas.
Louis graduated from Kingsford High School in 1939. He served as a 1st Lieutenant with the U. S. Marine Air Corp from 1942 until 1946. He flew B-25's in the South Pacific and received the Distinguished Flying Cross Air Medal.
On Sept. 21, 1946, he married Marjorie Baumler at St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain.
Louis worked for Wisconsin Electric for 43 years, retiring in 1983.
He was a member of St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, United Commercial Travelers, Golden K, Golden Throats, Golden K Band, Civil Air Patrol, Dickinson County Pilots Association, and the EMBA of Wisconsin Electric. He volunteered at the VA Medical Center and local nursing homes.
Music was an important part of his life. Over his lifetime, he played in the KHS band, Niagara Lumberjack band, Spud Ferzacc's Orchestra, Norway City band, Golden K band, and the Dickinson County Area Band. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at the 'Forty'.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marjorie; five children, Barbara (Glenn) Hunter of Englewood, Colo., Kathryn (Erling) Mortensen of Amery, Wis., James (Mary Jean) Nicolas of Breitung Township, LuAnn (William) Edens of Breitung Township and Richard (Debra) Nicolas of Elizabeth, Colo.; one sister, Alfonsine (Robert) Perdzock of Dayton, Ohio; three sisters-in-law, Gladeen Nicolas of Big Rapids, lower Michigan, Pat (Florian) Bray of Iron Mountain and Peg (Don) Gunville of Niagara, Wis.; 11 grandchildren, Jeffrey and Bryan Hunter, Erik (Kim) Mortensen, Kim (Josh) Gould, Kristin Mortensen, Andrew and Jenna Nicolas, Amy and Jennifer Edens, and Clare and Jason Nicolas; three great grandchildren, Tanner and Luke Mortensen and Ella Gould; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, George Nicolas.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Parish prayers will be recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Pallbearers will be Andrew Nicolas, Jeffrey Hunter, Bryan Hunter, Erik Mortensen, Jason Nicolas, Florian Bray and Don Gunville.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Family Ties Adult Day Care Center at 800 Crystal Lake Blvd. Iron Mountain.

Adelaide Sandercock
IRON MOUNTAIN - Adelaide "Skippy" Sandercock, 82, of Iron Mountain, died Saturday, Dec.11, 2004, at Hyland Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 29, 1922, in Republic, the daughter of the late John and Sophie (Kotomaki) Wald.
Skippy has been a resident of this area her entire life and graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1940.
She married Edwin J. Sandercock and he preceded her in death on April 12, 1991.
Skippy worked for 17 years as a teller for Commercial National Bank in Iron Mountain.
She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was a member of the Westside Workshop and Ruth Circle of the Church. She enjoyed knitting and reading.
She is survived by her daughters, Penny Maurina of Iron Mountain and Jill (Ray) Kidd of Lansing; grandchildren, Lauren, Nicholas, Randy Kidd and Jeff and Brandon Stroud; great-grandchildren, Aspen, Savannah, Coral, Laiken, Parker and McKenzie.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Norma LeJeune, Elaine Reynolds and Adele Jaworowicz, a half sister, Lillian Jarvis and a half brother, Jack Wald.
A memorial service will be held in the spring.
Burial will be in cemetery Park

Patrick Rice
HARDWOOD - Patrick N. Rice, 67, of Hardwood, died Saturday evening at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.
He was born Feb. 13, 1937, in Gulliver, the son of the late Robert and Ella (Rodgers) Rice. Patrick graduated from Manistique High School in 1955 and from Michigan Tech with an associate degree in forestry.
He married Shirley Swanson on March 19, 1957, in Manistique. He had worked for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for 32 years as a forest technician, retiring in 1997.
Patrick was instrumental in helping to organize the Nordic Ambulance and Breen Township Volunteer Fire Department. He served on the Breen Township Volunteer Fire Department for over 30 years.
Patrick enjoyed going to camp and playing cards with his camp buddies, and he enjoyed four wheeling and being in the woods.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; four children, Michael (Pamela) Rice of Florence, Wis., Patti (Erv) Kittelson of Norway, Tammy (Gregory) Harris of Wilson and Mark (Christine) Rice of Iron Mountain; two sisters, Martha (Don)Duquette of Holland, lower Michigan and Jackie (Pat) Davis of Simpsonville, S.C.; 10 grandchildren; David, Celeste, Tiffany, Nicholas, Allie, Stephanie, Michaela, Alex, Zachary, and Morgan.
Patrick was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Michael Rice; and one sister; Margaret Nord.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Wednesday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Nordic Ambulance.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Dale R. Gedvick
IRON MOUNTAIN - Dale R. Gedvick, 61, of 110 W. E St. Iron Mountain, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
Dale was born Nov. 25, 1943, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Thorsten and Gertrude (Schultz) Gedvick. He loved the outdoors and had worked as a logger. He loved to hunt, fish and trap. He was also a great fan of baseball and enjoyed spending time in Alaska.
He is survived by five sisters, LaVonne Severinsen of Clearwater, Fla., Barbara (John) Krueger of Wausau, Wis, Darlene Gedvick of Iron Mountain, Shelby (Tom) Bolander of Iron Mountain and Peggy (Kevin) Kramer of Sagola; a brother, Thorsten 'Jay' Gedvick Jr. of Stephenson and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Burial will be in the Foster City cemetery.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the arrangements.

Ruth Tuer
VULCAN - Ruth E.M. Tuer, 87, of W4725 Main St., Vulcan, died Sunday, April 3, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She was born Sept. 22, 1917, in Aurora, Ill., daughter of the late Emil and Francis (Stallman) Abel.
She married Edwin K. Tuer in Aurora in 1937, and he preceded her in death in April 1986. They lived in Aurora until 1984, and then they moved to Kingsford. She moved to Vulcan in 1999 to live with her daughter.
Ruth was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Kingsford. She loved and enjoyed having her family with her. She enjoyed watching the Cubs play baseball and making and giving afghans.
She is survived by two daughters, Lorraine (Terry) Dishroons of Georgia and Sandra Armbrust of Vulcan; a brother, Fred Tuer of Aurora, Ill.; 11 grandchildren, Greg, Bill, Tim, Burton Jr., Edwin, Teresa, Ray, Phil, Christine, Joe and Laura; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Kingsford Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Kingsford. Deacon Bradley J. Lemke will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.

Rhiannon Daugherty
MAULDIN, S.C. - Rhiannon Daugherty, 24, of Mauldin, died suddenly on Sunday, April 3, 2005, as a result of a motorcycle accident in South Carolina.
Rhiannon was born Sept. 22, 1980, in Iron Mountain. She was a 1998 graduate of Kingsford High School, received an associate's degree from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in Green Bay, Wis., and took a job in her field at Optima Corp. in Green Bay for three years.
Then her love for warmer winters led her to Greenville, S.C. where she worked for an engineering company called Advanced Automation Inc.
Her analytical mind and organizational talents were assets they admired and they were grooming her for project management. She would be the first female in the company to ever hold such a high position 'she was very well respected.
Rhiannon lived her life to the fullest - she wanted the best, biggest, and loudest of everything. She strived for perfection in all she did. She had everything, she ever wanted or ever dreamed of and lived life to the fullest. She never did anything half-way. It was all or nothing, and nothing was not acceptable. We will miss her every day forever.
Rhiannon is survived by her mother, Danita (Randy) Larson; her father, Garth (Karen Johnson) Daugherty; her sister, Miranda (Shaun Sabotta) Daugherty (and their children, Logan Ethan, and Paige); maternal grandparents, Melvin and Audrey Johnson, all of Breitung Township; paternal grandparents, Vernon and Joyce Daugherty of Kingsford; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
A memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Dave Grant officiating.

George Bubloni
IRON MOUNTAIN - George M. Bubloni, 86, of 324 Grant St. Iron Mountain, died Saturday April 2, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 3, 1919, in Vulcan, son of the late Joseph and Anna (Masty) Bubloni. George has been a resident of this area for most of his life.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II with the B-29 Flying Fortress in the South Pacific. George worked in the mines, locally in the Mather B Shaft.
He is survived by three grandchildren, Joel Magnuson, Chris Magnuson and Jennifer (Jormah) Louko; a sister, Katherine Stenfors; a son-in-law, Howard Magnuson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Stanley Bubloni; a daughter, Charlotte Magnuson; five brothers, John, Paul, Mike, Henry and Joe Bubloni; and three sisters, Bernice, Mary and Julia.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Kingsford Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will officiate.
Burial will be in the Norway Township cemetery.
The family has entrusted the Kingsford Funeral Home with the funeral arrangements.

Richard Anderson
IRON MOUNTAIN - Richard 'Dick' Anderson, 77, of Kewaunee, Wis., formerly of Iron Mountain, died Friday, April 1, 2005, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, Wis.
He was born Jan. 22, 1928, in Rome, N.Y., son of the late George and Mildred (Molnaa) Anderson. He has been a resident of this area since 1929.
Dick was an Army Airforce veteran and had served for seven years. He drove truck for Clairmont Transfer for many years before retiring. Dick was a member of the Iron Mountain Elks Club, the Teamsters, and the Oak Crest Country Club in Norway.
He loved to golf, bowl and ride his Harley. He was an avid Flivver fan and a Detroit Lions Fan. Dick enjoyed going to the casino and playing cards at the Elks.
He was the loving father of Deborah (Jeff) Dembinski of Kewaunee; loving brother of Ann Richards of Iron Mountain, Thalia (Bob) Cocking of Iron Mountain, Dorothy Maule of Kingsford, Beverly (Charles) Benzie of Felch, and Karen (Cliff) Peronto of Kingsford; and loving uncle of numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a special friend, Arlene Anderson of Kewaunee.
He was preceded in death by his best friend, Carl Evosovich.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 12 noon Tuesday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. The Iron Mountain Elks Lodge will conduct a memorial service at 11:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at noon at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Tony Benzie, Dick, Dave, and Doug Maule, and Mike and Joe Plourde.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oakcrest Country Club tree fund.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.
