Thomas Tunney
IRON MOUNTAIN - Thomas G. Tunney, 89, of Iron Mountain, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2005 at Maryhill Manor Nursing Home in Niagara, Wis.
He was born May 30, 1915, in Oconto, Wis., son of the late Clifford and Agnes (Dory) Tunney. Tom was a WWII veteran serving with the U.S. Air Force at March Air Force Base in California and in the Aleutian Islands.
He married Dolores Belongia on June 8, 1943, in Oconto and they have lived in the area for the past 57 years. Tom was a self- employed clock and watch repair man. He also owned/operated a tree nursery for many years.
He was a member of American Martyrs Catholic Church and the VFW. Tom enjoyed collecting watches and pocket knives. He also enjoyed working at the nursery, cross-breeding trees and playing the guitar. Tom was very dedicated to serving the community through his businesses.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dolores; four sons, Jerome (Laurie) Tunney of downstate Holt, Thomas (Patricia) Tunney of Naples, Fla., Gene Tunney of Iron Mountain, and Greg Tunney of Kingsford; a daughter, Eyelyn Geb (Leslie Bedell) of Iron Mountain; a sister, Marie Frye of Kenosha, Wis.; five grandchildren, Charles (Melissa) Geb, Dolores (Brice) Christiania, Jill Marie (Brian) Dujardin, Jenny (Matt) Essell and Jimmy Tunney; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in Quinnesec cemetery.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Sharon Nelson
MILWAUKEE - Sharon L. Nelson, 61, of 3355 S. Kinnickkinnick Ave., Milwaukee, was born to eternal life on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005.
She was born Aug. 10, 1943, in Fence, Wis., beloved daughter of Frank and Florence (Sadowski) Demko. Sharon graduated from Florence High School. She lived her life serving others as a nurse for more than 25 years.
Sharon was the loving mother of Kimberly, James (Valerie) Nelson, and Kristin (Daniel) Dane; the sister of Robert (Lauren) Demko; and proud grandmother of Elizabeth, Madison, Javier, and Brittany. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Martha Blixt
IRON MOUNTAIN - Martha Blixt, 93, a recent resident of Freeman Nursing Center, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
Martha was born Jan. 6, 1912, in Dunbar, Wis., daughter of the late Joseph and Lillian (Van Deusen) Lachapell. She worked at the Four Seasons Club in Pembine, Wis. and at the M&M; Hospital in Marinette, Wis. during her early years.
Martha married Walter Blixt on Oct. 24, 1936, and he preceded her in death in 1963. She worked for the Annex and Hyland Nursing Home for many years.
She was a longtime member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Universal Living Rosary Association, the Miraculous Medal Association, the Calvary Mothers and the Adoration Chapel. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and was a great cook. Martha loved her family and helping others.
She is survived by three children, Elizabeth (Walter) Sala of Albuquerque, N.M., Glen Blixt of Green Bay, Wis., and Jeanette (Ray) Marchand of Kingsford; a brother, Joseph (Hilda) Lachapell of Menasha, Wis.; five grandchildren, Lisa (Dave) Temple of Geneva, Ill., Michael Marchand (fiancAŠ Katrina) of Iron Mountain, Sally (Chad) Baker of Geneva, Jill (Tim) Fresso of Roselle, Ill. and Steven Hohbein of Pennsylvania; two great- grandchildren, Nathan Baker and Theodore Fresso; and many nieces and nephews.
Martha was preceded in death by four brothers, Arthur, Edmund, Raymond and Lawrence Lachapell and two sisters, Agnes Lachapell and Irene Engel.
Visitation will be Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.

Alexis Constantinoff
IRON MOUNTAIN - Alexis MacKenzie Rose Constantinoff, infant daughter of Jason and Ashley (Babin) Constantinoff, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She will be dearly missed by her parents, Jason and Ashley of Kingsford; her brother, James Alexander 'Alex;' her maternal grandparents, Shari and Marty Young of Pensacola, Fla. and Guy and Aline Babin of Westminster, Md.; her paternal grandparents, LouAnn and James Smith of Niagara, Wis.; and many aunts, uncles and other relatives.
Visitation will be Friday from noon until 12:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. at the church. Rev. Keith Wall will officiate.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Eva Bryngelson
NIAGARA, Wis. - Eva Brunhil Bryngelson, 79, of Niagara, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She was born on June 14, 1925, in Niagara, the daughter of the late William and Anna Marie (Johnson) Hansen.
Eva worked in the kitchen at Maryhill Manor and as a waitress at the Knife and Fork Restaurant.
She was a former member and Sunday School teacher at Union Protestant Church in Niagara. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She liked to reminisce about the past.
She married Donald E. Bryngelson on May 8, 1948, in Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death in 1986.
She is survived by one son, Gary (Karyn) of Lake Villa, Ill.; two daughters, Denise (Alfred) Sauld of Niagara and Peggy (Rich) Moore of Iron Mountain; one brother, James Hansen of Milwaukee; nine grandchildren, Lynne Ford, Steven Bryngelson, Craig, Kurt, and Ahren Sauld, and Ronnie, Wayne, Brandon and Christy Branback; 10 great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren, 11 step great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Eva was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Karen Suzanne; three sisters, Kathryn Galuppo, Jennie Drengberg, and Eleanor Hansen; and two brothers, William and Frank Hansen.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Aurora Free Church.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. at the church. Rev. Karl Utzat will officiate.
Burial will be in the Niagara cemetery.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home of Iron Mountain is assisting the family with arrangements.

Orville Best
IRON MOUNTAIN - Orville Kenneth Best, 83, of 904 W. Fleshiem St., Iron Mountain, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iron Mountain.
He was born Nov. 19, 1921, in Iron Mountain, a son of the late Edward and Lillian (Lanney) Best. Orv grew up in the Iron Mountain area and attended school here until he worked for his father, who owned Best Brothers Creamery on River Avenue.
Orville enlisted in the U.S. Army in December 1941, three days prior to the start of World War II. He served as a medical aidman in the 87th Mountain Infantry and was promoted to corporal in July 1942. He was honorably discharged in October 1945. While serving, he was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and the Combat Medical Badge.
Upon discharge, he moved to Alton, Ill., where he was employed by Laclede Steel, retiring after 30 years. He then moved back to the Iron Mountain area and married Joyce (Roberts) Pearson on Dec. 5, 1981, at First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford.
Orville enjoyed passing time by watching his favorite western and war movies on TV and making trips with Joyce to the casino.
He also listened to all the local area high school sports. He especially enjoyed attending his great-grandchildren's basketball, baseball and soccer games. He was also known to make sure he called his granddaughter, Terri, when the Packers or Lions played the Chicago Bears just so he could bet with her. He was also a Chicago Cubs baseball fan.
Orv was known for his good sense of humor. There is probably no one in the area he has not touched with his special talent of making people laugh.
He was 'famous' for his cooking. Amongst many dishes it was hard to beat his delicious chocolate cake and extra-ordinary coleslaw. He willing shared all of his recipes with others.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), American Legion, and National Association of the 10th Mountain Division, and a former member of the Elks Club and Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce; three daughters, Patricia (Michael) Inglese of Felch, Rose (Gary) Foiles of Shipman, Ill., and Dorothy (Jim) Reis of Wood River, Ill.; one son, William Kenneth (Cindy) Best of Marietta, Ga.; one sister, Lorraine Fontecchio of Iron Mountain; one brother, George (Winifred) Best of Iron Mountain; eight grandchildren, Terri (David) Castelaz, Kevin (Melissa) Krokstrom, Christopher (Angel) Inglese, Melissa Inglese, Michael Inglese, Lori (Victor) Kroeger, Kelly (Joe) Hicks, and Natalie Best; 10 great-grandchildren, Cassandra Treiber, Marcus Treiber, Payton Castelaz, Mackenzie and Cooper Krokstrom, Chrislyn Inglese, Keeton Kroeger, and Tanner, Alexis and Allisa Hicks; special friends, Doug and Julia Krokstrom of Iron Mountain and Kathleen and Marvin Fayas of Iron Mountain; numerous nieces and nephews; and his favorite little girl, his kitty, Lucretia.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Archie, Harold and Edwin Best.
Visitation will be Thursday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Michael March will officiate.
Burial will be in Iron Mountain cemetery Park.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Krokstrom, Doug Krokstrom, David Castelaz, Marcus Treiber, Michael Inglese and Christopher Inglese.

Joseph Bartolameolli
IRON MOUNTAIN - Joseph Francis Bartolameolli, of 309 Fourth St., Iron Mountain, died on Feb. 20, 2005, after a very brief illness.
Joe was born on April 4, 1916, to Amadeo and Cathryn (Fedrizzi) Bartolameolli in Loretto. His family moved to Iron Mountain when Joe was a child and he spent his entire life here, except for serving in the Army in Europe in World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Vera (Geline) of Iron Mountain and their son, Joe (Bernie) Bartolameolli of Menasha, Wis.
Also surviving are his brother, Ernie (Clarine) Bartolameolli of Iron Mountain and four grandchildren, Lori (Dean) Vernon of Grand Rapids, lower Michigan, Sheila Bartolameolli (Bill) Todd of Tonka Bay, Minn., Wendy (Bill) Wilson of Minneapolis and Jeff (JoAnn) Bartolameolli of DePere, Wis. Also surviving are 11 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his daughter, Rita (Lundell), three sisters, Linda Weiser, Minnie Simons and infant Mary, and two brothers, John and Guido.
Joe led an outdoor life in both his vocation and in his leisure time. He enjoyed working with wood and was a carpenter-contractor for most of his working years, having built many homes in the area, including his own and his camp. His greatest passions in life were brook trout fishing, watching football of all levels, playing cards and morra, and spending time at his camp. Joe will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.
His family thanks the staff at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iron Mountain and Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers for their kind and understanding care.
Private services were held at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.

Gordon Thorland
KINGSFORD - Gordon Thorland, 78, of 108 Cleveland Ave., Kingsford, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
He was born Dec. 23, 1926, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Ole and Thera (Bjorkman) Thorland. Gordon was a 1944 graduate of Kingsford High School. He was a veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater from 1945 until the end of the war. He was a graduate of the Milwaukee School of Electronics.
Gordon married Shirley Cook on Jan. 5, 1953, in Kingsford. She preceded him in death in 1991. Gordon lived in Sun Prairie, Wis. for 29 years until moving back to the Kingsford area in 1984. He spent most of his working life as an electronics repairman.
He was an avid bowler and softball player. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50.
He is survived by five sons, Tom of Jacksonville, Fla., Tim (Sue) of Madison, Wis., Ted of Orange Park, Fla., Troy of Jacksonville, and Todd of Kingsford; two daughters, Sally Harvey of Munising and Sharon Kalscheuer of Jacksonville; a sister, Lois Shtogren of Clawson, lower Michigan; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Gordon was preceded in death by one brother, Leroy Thorland.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Kingsford Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Kingsford Funeral Home with the funeral arrangements.
