Lois Johnson
GRANITE BLUFF - Lois A. Johnson, 75, of Granite Bluff, died Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.
Lois was born Sept. 6, 1929, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Rocke and Rita (Nault) Provencher. Lois has been a lifelong resident of Breitung Township and a resident of Granite Bluff since her marriage. She was a 1947 graduate of Kingsford High School. Following high school, she received her cosmetology license.
On March 31, 1951, she married William V. Johnson. He preceded her in death in February 1992. Lois was consummately devoted to her family. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, music, reading, sewing, knitting and furniture refinishing. She was also an avid Packer fan.
Lois is survived by her children, Kristine (Michael) Van Eyck of Appleton, Wis., Lorri (Joe) Feira of Lee's Summit, Mo., Bill (Debbie) Johnson and Mike (Melody) Johnson, both of Granite Bluff and Brady (special friend, Becky) of Munising; two sisters, Joyce (John) Gagnon of Kingsford and Germaine (Francis) Purcell of Nokomis, Fla.;12 grandchildren, Melissa, Kate, Peter, Jesse, Mike, Billy (Vivian), Bjorn (Amber), Brent, Rob, Brianna, Donny and Brandon and two great-grandchildren, Madisyn and Ashley.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Erica Van Eyck; a sister, Lorraine Kreski; and her brother, Donald Provencher.
Visitation was held Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.
Funeral services were held today at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home and 11 a.m. at American Martyrs Church in Kingsford. Fr. Joseph Gouin offered the Mass of the Christian Burial.
Burial was in the Quinnesec cemetery.
Lois' grandchildren served as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Mary Hendrickson
NORWAY - Mary L. Hendrickson, 86, of Norway, died Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She was born Nov. 14, 1918, in Astoria, Ill., daughter of the late Joseph and Irene (Trimmer) Zeutzius. Mary was a resident of this area for most of her life and graduated from the Kingsford High School.
She married Arthur Hendrickson and he preceded her in death on Aug. 18, 1983. Mary owned and operated a home for veterans for many years.
She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, the Royal Neighbors of America, and the Lady Elks. She enjoyed spending many winters in Florida and also enjoyed ceramics, knitting, and bowling. She loved her grandchildren very much.
She is survived by four sons, William (Mary) Hendrickson of New Port Richey, Fla., Henry (Bonnie) Hendrickson of Menominee, James (Carol) Hendrickson of Norway and Robert (Linda) Hendrickson of Kingsford; one daughter, Cheryl (John) Heric of Sterling Heights, lower Michigan; one brother; Harold 'John' (Ruth) Zeutzius of Alabama; one sister, Vera Hasenjaeger of Iron Mountain; eight grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; and by two brothers, Paul and Lyle Zeutzius.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at the church. Rev. Stephen Cowen will officiate.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.

Edna Rossi
IRON MOUNTAIN - Edna Rossi, 88, of 301 Madison Ave., Iron Mountain, died Monday, June 27, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.
She was born on June 24, 1917, in Channing, the daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Lusnia) Vermulen.
Mrs. Rossi graduated from Channing High School. She moved to Iron Mountain in 1951 and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabella. Edna enjoyed listening to jazz music and traveling.
She married Victor Rossi on Feb. 19, 1941, and he preceded her in death in 1951.
Edna is survived by her children, Vincent (Patricia) of Forestville, Calif., Maria of Silverdale, Wash., and Gregory (Wynn Anne) of Minnetonka, Minn.; a stepson, Richard (Marsha) of Shelbourne Falls, Mass.; a brother, Maurice Vermulen of Channing; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Mark in 1970; a brother, Leonard Vermulen; and a sister, Violet 'Dolly' Barrs.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 16 from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 16 at the funeral home and at 1:30 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in cemetery Park
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Dickinson Area Catholic School, Public TV 13, or to the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN).

Michael Elliott
IRON MOUNTAIN - Michael Paul Elliott, 46, of 304 West D St. in Iron Mountain, died Monday, June 27, 2005, at West Allis Memorial Hospital in West Allis, Wis.
Mike was born March 3, 1959, in Iron Mountain. He was a 1978 graduate of Iron Mountain High School. He has been a resident of Iron Mountain for most of his life and spent several years in San Antonio, Texas.
Michael worked in the construction field by trade and was especially known as a master finishing carpenter. Mike loved to hunt and fish for brook trout. He was an avid sports fan and participated in several sports including ski jumping, baseball and wrestling.
Mike is survived by his son, Nicholas; his daughter, Nevaeh; his father, Gerald and stepmother, Jo Anne Elliott of Kingsford; a stepson, Eric; three sisters, Anita Abraham of Iron Mountain, Julie (Peter) Piatti of Iron Mountain and Donna (Todd) Tousignant of Iron Mountain; a stepsister, Jennifer (Jeff) Porzondek of Gaylord, lower Michigan; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Krystal (Daniel) Elliott-Wentworth.
Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara in 1981; a brother-in-law, Sam Abraham in 2003 and his uncle, John Elliott in 2004.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Rev. Stephen Cowen will officiate.
Burial will be in Iron Mountain cemetery Park. Graveside services will be on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at cemetery Park.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory.

James Stankevich Sr.
BREITUNG TOWNSHIP - James J. Stankevich Sr., 73, of N4739 Harding Park Drive, Breitung Township, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2005, at his home.
Jim was born Nov. 30, 1931, in Iron Mountain. He was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Duda) Stankevich and had been a life long resident of this area.
He was a 1949 graduate of Kingsford High School. Jim served in the United States military at Luke Air Force Base as an A & E mechanic from 1951-1955.
On Nov. 3, 1956, he married the former Dorothy Forcey at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara, Wis. He retired in 1994 after working for many years as a welder at Smeester Bros. Trucking. Prior to that, he worked at St. John Trucking. Jim also owned and operated 'stanky's Marine' in Kingsford.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and the American Legion. Jim was very knowledgeable and creative in mechanics, welding, carpentry and woodworking. At the age of 16, he built his first truck. He also loved airplanes and fishing with his father. During his retirement, he enjoyed gardening (especially his love for lilies), making clocks and working on his home. Jim was kind and caring and loved to help others.
Jim is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his sons, Joseph (Edwina) Stankevich of Norway and James (Kelly) Stankevich Jr. of Iron Mountain; his daughters, Cynthia (James) Counter of Nashville, Tenn. and Sandra (George) Zahn of Homestead, Wis.; a brother, Jerome (Lenore) Stankevich of Norway; sisters, Martha (Harvey) Spiegel of Highland, Ind. and MaryAnn Jacobson of Aurora, Wis.; 15 grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Joseph.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will officiate.
Burial will be in Iron Mountain cemetery Park.
Pallbearers will be Myron Fetterly, Al Cootware, Carl Johnson, Gilbert Fugere, George Zahn and James Counter.

James Steinbrecher
PORTLAND, Ore. - James E. 'Stein' Steinbrecher, 32, of Portland, Ore., formerly of Norway, was granted eternal peace by our Lord on Friday, June 24, 2005.
He was born on Jan. 29, 1973, in Mount Clemens, lower Michigan, the son of James and Kay (Fontana) Steinbrecher of Norway.
Jimmy was a talented artist, musician, horticulturist, and an avid Packer fan. He was gifted with a wonderful sense of humor and a loving heart.
He is survived by his devoted love, Pam Chancey of Portland; his parents, James and Kay Steinbrecher of Norway; a sister, Nicole (Tom) Verrette; a niece, Haley Steinbrecher; a nephew, Marcus Verrette, all of Iron Mountain; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
In respect of his wishes, Jimmy's ashes will be scattered in the Pacific Ocean and there will be no service or visitation.

Donald Ebidon Sr.
KINGSFORD - Donald R. Ebidon Sr., 75, of 893 E. Breen Ave., Kingsford, died Friday, June 24, 2005, at the VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain.
He was born May 3, 1930, in Niagara, Wis., son of the late Andrew and Anna (Strauss) Ebidon. Don graduated from Niagara High School in 1948. He married Irene Cudnohufsky on May 12, 1951, at the American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. From 1951 to 1953, Don served his country overseas in the U.S. Army.
Don was a powerhouse operator at Kimberly-Clark/Pentair Corp. in Niagara when he retired in 1993. He had worked for the mill for over 40 years. He was very active in his church and community. He served as Breitung Township supervisor for several terms and recently served on the Breitung Township Board of Review.
Don was a member of the American Marytrs Catholic Church and an active member of Habitat for Humanity helping build several houses in the area. He was a member of the Carpenter-Clash American Legion Post of Kingsford and the East Kingsford Volunteer Fire Department. He visited shut-ins regularly and was very faithful to that ministry. He volunteered many hours at the VA Medical Center. Don was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed camp and the many fishing trips to Lake Michigan with his boys.
He is survived by his wife, Irene; three sons, Don Ebidon Jr. of Kingsford, Daniel (Shari) Ebidon of Diamondale, lower Michigan and Derrick (Cheryl) Ebidon of Spring Lake, lower Michigan; one brother; Jerry Ebidon of Marinette, Wis.; seven sisters, Jean Ferrari and Beverly Brown, both of Debary, Fla., Joyce (John) Erdelyn of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., Joan (Jack) Smalldon of St. Johns, lower Michigan, Judy (Jerry) Ciezadlo of Des Plaines, Ill., Ellen (Bertrand) Venstra of Niagara, Wis. and Yvonne Settle of Bentley Park, Australia; seven grandchildren, Michael and Megan, Jay P., Benjamin, and Mark, Justin and Sarah; one great-granddaughter, Maria; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Ebidon Sr., Jim and Kenneth Ebidon, and by one sister, Marion Haynes.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Kingsford Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be recited today at 6 p.m. and the American Legion will conduct memorial services at 6:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Kingsford Funeral Home and 11 a.m. at the American Martyr's Church. Fr. Raymond Valerio will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Pallbearers will be Bertrand and Kevin Venstra, Jared Cudnohufsky, Eugene Robert Cudnohufsky, Lloyd Rudolph Cudnohufsky, and Mike Mainville.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory.

Albert Bollini
IRON MOUNTAIN - Albert F. Bollini, 88, of 809 W. Hughitt St., Iron Mountain, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2005, at Freeman Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in Kingsford.
Albert was born April 24, 1917, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Frank and Louise (Cerutti) Bollini. He graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1935 and was a lifelong resident of the area. Al moved to Milwaukee, and worked for Harley-Davidson for 10 years.
He married the former Ann Bluma on June 28, 1941, at St. Stanislaus Church in Hofa Park, Wis. Al was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the Southwest Pacific from 1942-1945. After serving his country, Al moved back to Iron Mountain with his family and was employed at Kimberly Clark in Niagara for 30 years until retiring in 1980.
He was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3674 in Iron Mountain and was a former member of the United Commercial Travelers for 25 years.
Al enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and all sports. He was an avid Packer fan. Most of all, Al loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ann; three daughters, Audra (Harvey) Manning of Toronto, Canada, Susie (Tony) Iasello of St. Charles, Mo. and Marilu (Gary) Klipp of Appleton, Wis.; eight grandchildren, Christi (Kevin) Austreng, Kathy Vogt, Andria, Jessica and Ryan Iasello, and Brad, Emily and Kevin Klipp; two great-grandchildren, Nathan Picus and A.J. Iasello; and a niece, Eleanor (Charles) Radloff.
Al was preceded in death by his stepfather, Emil Strandin, a son, Alan F. Bollini, two sisters, Emelia Bollini and Mary Dulan and two nephews, Eugene and Francis Dulan.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain.
A memorial Mass will follow at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park. The Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 will conduct military graveside services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory.
The Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home of Iron Mountain is assisting the family with arrangements.
