Donald Danielson
BREITUNG TOWNSHIP - Donald "Tud" Danielson, 71, of N4775 Harding Park Drive, Breitung Township, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005, at his home.
He was born Sept. 20, 1934, son of Henry and Celia (Schock) Danielson. Don was a 1953 graduate of Iron Mountain High School.
He worked at the Tilden Mine in Ishpeming before going into the U.S. Air Force in 1956. Don served in the Air Force as a pilot's mechanic and was honorably discharged in 1960.
He married the former Gail Mitchell-Bevilacqua on Aug. 18, 1962, at Immaculate Conception Church in Iron Mountain. Don began his law enforcement career as a patrol officer for the Iron Mountain Police Department for seven years. He retired as chief of the Niagara Police Department after 23 years of service.
Don was a member of the Wisconsin Chiefs of Police Association and the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Association. He was former member of the Niagara Lions Club. Don enjoyed boating on his pontoon and especially enjoyed spending the winters in Florida.
Don is survived by his wife, Gail; two sisters, Ardys Laydon of Ventura, Calif. and Helen (Fred) Miller of San Diego, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Tod and Loran Danielson.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Memorial services will follow at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
A memorial will be established in his memory to the Niagara High School Scholarship Fund.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

LaVerne Roberts
IRON MOUNTAIN - LaVerne E. Roberts, 84, formerly of Iron Mountain, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005, at A Place Called Home in Bellevue, Wash.
She was born on Dec. 12, 1920, in Iron Mountain, the daughter of the late Arvid and Garda (Anderson) Gustafson.
Mrs. Roberts graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1940. She was a member of First Lutheran Church.
She married John Roberts on Jan. 19, 1946, in Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death on Dec. 27, 1999.
She is survived by her sister, Judy Miller of Bellevue; three nieces, Tina Francis of Iron Mountain, Lynne Miller of Redmond, Wash., and Kim St. Ours of Caldwell, Idaho; and a nephew, Robert Gustafson of Milwaukee.
LaVerne was preceded in death by two brothers, Inger Gustafson and Walter Gustafson and one sister, Margaret Gustafson.
Graveside services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at cemetery Park in Iron Mountain. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.

Diane Short
NORWAY - Diane Short, 45, of N2282 Pearney Lane, Norway, died Monday, Sept. 19, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.
She was born on Dec. 12, 1959, the daughter of late Orville and Donna (Gould) Saler. She was the last baby born at the Penn Hospital in Norway.
Diane graduated from Norway High School. She received a bachelor's degree in journalism from Ferris State University and a bachelor's degree in human services from Northern Michigan University. She worked at Northpointe as a behavioral specialist and at Econo Foods prior to taking time off from work to stay home with her twin sons. She enjoyed spending time with her children, archery, and bowling. Her organs were donated to help others.
Diane married Craig Short on Oct. 31, 1997, at their home in Norway.
She is survived by her husband Craig; four children, Nick Husbye of Milan, lower Michigan, Kim Husbye of Iron Mountain, and David and Steven Short, both at home; two brothers, Robert (April) Peterson of Norway and James (Carmen) Peterson of Waucedah; two sisters, Debbie Moore of Iron Mountain, and Judy (Dennis Girardi) Schultz of Vulcan; two stepchildren, Bonnie Short and Mike (Tasha) Short, both of Florence; two grandchildren, Elliot Peterson and Kylaren Short; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Donna Peterson and Orville Saler, and a daughter, Anna Claire Short.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home with the arrangements.

Thelma Conery
IRON MOUNTAIN - Thelma Ann Conery, 77, of 509 W. Flesheim St., died on Friday, Sept. 16, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.
She was born on Dec. 21, 1927, the daughter of the late William and Mary (Clivina) Monigal. Thelma was a graduate of Iron Mountain High School and has been a lifelong resident of this area.
She married Albert 'Buddy' Conery on June 14, 1947, and he preceded her in death in 1983.
Thelma was a devoted member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church. She shared her interests and talents in knitting and crafts with her family, friends, and community. She will be remembered as a mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother by some, but will be remembered by all as a teacher, mentor, and friend.
Thelma is survived by a daughter Michelle 'Mickey' Conway of Milwaukee; one brother, Robert (Lilian) Monigal of Milwaukee; three sisters, Maureen Lucas of Ann Arbor, Magdelan Gustafson of Iron Mountain and Rosemary Lewis of Palm City, Fla.; three grandchildren, Tijuana Conway-Bradley, Brandon Conway and Patrick Alexander, all of Milwaukee; seven great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Tajai, Leona, Isaiah, Aleigha, Imari and Micka; several nieces and nephews and a daughter-in-law, Pat Conery of Milwaukee.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Albert 'Billy' Conery and three sisters, Gwendolyn Daly, Lela Oberthaler and Samantha Monigal.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday at St. Mary & St. Joseph Church in Iron Mountain. Fr. Paul Nomellini will offer the Mass of the Christian Burial.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.

Hanna Nasberg
IRON MOUNTAIN - Hanna C. Nasberg, 92, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, at the Friends Nursing Home in Sandy Spring, Md.
She lived in Iron Mountain until she moved to Maryland in 1972 to be near her family.
In 1960, she graduated from Northern Michigan University from their practical nursing program. After her graduation, she worked at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital for 11 years.
In Maryland she worked at a local hospital until she retired.
She belonged to the First Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain and to Epiphany Lutheran Church in Burtonsville, Md. where her funeral was held on Sept. 9.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; her parents, John and Hanna Carlson; and two brothers, Harry and Elias Carlson.
She leaves her daughter, Marilyn Palmer and her son-in-law, Bob of Burtonsville, Md. and her grandson, Brian Palmer of Washington, DC.
Friends are invited to attend a graveside service for her at the Iron Mountain cemetery at 1 p.m. on Thursday. A reception will follow at the First Lutheran Church, 1210 S. Stephenson Ave., Iron Mountain.

Mary Mlinar
IRON MOUNTAIN - Mary Louise Mlinar, 73 of 1234 Kimberly Ave., Iron Mountain, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 200, 5 at St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, Minn.
She was born in Marquette, on March 14, 1932, daughter of the late Albert and Emma (Clement) Bastien. She has been a resident of Iron Mountain for over 40-years.
She married Paul Mlinar on Sept. 5, 1953, and he preceded her in death on July 3, 1998.
Mary was the loving mother of seven children and the proud grandmother of eighteen grandchildren. She did custom sewing and alterations from her home business for many years. She was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church. She actively lived her faith through adoration to the Blessed Sacrament, volunteering for St.Vincent de Paul and her involvement in the Third Order of Carmel. Also Mary used her sewing gift to fabricate baptismal robes and priest vestments for her parish. In addition, Mary made hundreds of handmade string rosaries that she gladly gave to everyone she could.
Mary is survived by six children, Michael (Diane) Mlinar of Marquette, Kathy (Michael) Ellingson of Duluth, Minn., Sandy (Ronald) Petrelius of South Range, lower Michigan, Joseph (Brenda) Mlinar of Appleton, Wis., Carol (James) Bittinger of Duluth, Minn., and Betty (Robert) Lindholm of Iron Mountain; a sister, Dorothy Inch of Marquette; two brothers, Clement 'Bud' Bastien of Green Bay, Wis. and Paul (Verge) Bastien of Milwaukee, Wis.; a sister-in-law, Sr. Kathleen Mlinar of Appleton, Wis.; a brother-in-law, John Mlinar, of Channel View, Texas and she was further blessed with many close, dear friends.
A son, Patrick Mlinar, a brother-in-law, Jack Inch and two sisters-in-law, Margaret Bastien and Verna Mlinar preceded her in death.
Visitation will be on held on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will offer the Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon at the Church.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
Pallbearers will be Michael Ellingson, James Bittinger, Ronald Petrelius, Robert
Lindholm, Mark Ellingson, Brandon Lunde, and Matthew Williams.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carmelite Sisters.

Mark Johnson
BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Mark M. Johnson, 28, of 209 23rd St. Brooklyn, N.Y. and Spread Eagle, Wis. died unexpectedly on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005, at his home in Brooklyn.
He was born July 5, 1977, in Ann Arbor, lower Michigan, son of Lindley and Mary (Miller) Johnson. Mark was a 1995 graduate of T.C. Roberson High School in Asheville, N.C. He then went on to attend Sierra Nevada College in Lake Tahoe, Nev. Currently Mark was employed at BMW of Manhattan at their Wall St. office as a client advisor. He loved skiing, snowboarding, water skiing and wakeboarding. Mark enjoyed spending summers in Spread Eagle at his parent's home.
Mark is survived by his parents, Lindley and Mary Miller Johnson of Spread Eagle, Wis.; a brother, Lindley K. (Jackie) Johnson of Spread Eagle; two sisters, Kelly Ann Stenson of Alpharetta, Ga. and Kimberly (Dennis) Vassar of Commonwealth, Wis.; four nieces and nephews, Mary and Krissy Stenson, Denny Vassar, and Parker Johnson; two uncles, Norman F. Miller of Arden, N.C. and Ted (Joan) Miller of Tierra Verde, Fla.; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Rev. Murray (Savilla) Johnson and his maternal grandparents, Dr. Norman F. (Dorothy) Kingsford-Miller.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Memorial services will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Jack Weier will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.

Lorraine Massa
IRON MOUNTAIN - Lorraine V. Massa, 89, of 311 Prospect Ave., Iron Mountain, died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She was born April 28, 1916, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Antonio and Ernestine (St. Arnauld) Lefebvre. Lorraine was a 1934 graduate of Iron Mountain High School and resided in the area her entire life.
She married James A. Massa on May 21, 1937, in Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death on Oct. 3, 1994.
Lorraine worked as a bookkeeper for Paul Electric Co. for many years. She also volunteered at the Iron Mountain Schools hot lunch program for several years. Lorraine was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabella. She was an avid reader.
Lorraine is survived by a daughter, Mary Jane Werly of Sun City, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Mark Miceli of Gilbert, Ariz. and Denise (Stacey) Coleman of Copperas Cove, Texas; and four great-grandchildren, Seth, Gabriel, Danielle and Kevin.
She was preceded in death by two infant children; four brothers, Leo, Emil, Robert and Arthur Lefebvre; and three sisters, Marion Simmons, Olive Bauernfiend and Mary Jane Lefebvre.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. The Daughters of Isabella will recite the rosary at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will follow Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home and 12 noon at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
Memorials may be made to the Dickinson County Library.
