Frederick Combs
DUNBAR, Wis. - Frederick W. Combs, 82, of N17577 Lily Lake Road, Dunbar, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
He was born Oct. 16, 1923, in Racine, Wis., son of the late Frederick and Violet (Haas) Combs.
Fred had been a lifelong resident of Racine and has resided in Dunbar for the past six years. He served with the United States Navy in the South Pacific during World War II.
Fred married the former Jean Maysian on July 7, 1945, in Racine. He worked as a machinist for Walker Manufacturing Co. in Racine for many years.
Fred was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1391 in Racine and the Racine-Belle City Masonic Lodge where he was a 32nd degree York Rite. He attended the Northwoods Chapel in Pembine and in his younger years, enjoyed playing baseball and softball.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; one son, Fred 'Tom' (Ellyn) Combs of Dunbar; two grandchildren, Jason (Michelle) and Tracy (Susan) Combs; step-grandchildren, David (Linda) Tock, Michael Tock and Mary (James) Angus; great-grandson, Logan Combs and step great-grandchildren, Andrew, Jeremy and Krista Tock and James, Christopher, Chad, Danny and Tina Angus.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Caroline Garner.
A memorial services will be held Sat. May 13, at Northwoods Chapel in Pembine. Rev. Fred Barribeau will officiate. Burial will be in the Dunbar cemetery.
Memorials can be made in his memory to the Springlake Humane Society.
The family has entrusted the Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the arrangements.

Pasqualina Young
RESTON, Va. - Pasqualina C. Young, 71, of Reston, Va., died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006, at her home.
She was born on April 6, 1934, the daughter of the late Pasquale and Camilla (Rocheleau) Frigo.
Pasqualina was an active member of the Daughters of St. Francis de Sales and her parish, St. John Neumann.
She is survived by her husband, John Young; two sons, John and Gregory; her brothers and sisters, Antonio Sr., Pasqualine CSJ, Paul, William OFM Cap. and Therese Zappatelli; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Pete, Francis, Leo, Dominic, Pio, and Camille and three sisters, Mary Louise Frigo, Philomena Klee, and Christine DeMuri.
Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Aurora.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at the church. Fr. William Frigo OFM Cap. will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
The Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Violet Pittaway
IRON MOUNTAIN - Violet E. Pittaway (nee Peterson), 92, of 601 East G St., Iron Mountain, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, at Hyland Nursing Home in Iron Mountain.
She was born May 25, 1913, in Chicago, daughter of the late Thure and Esther (Bennett) Peterson.
She married Orville E. Pittaway in January 1935. He preceded her in death in 1985.
She was a member of the First Covenant Church of Iron Mountain.
She is survived by a daughter, Violet P. 'Penney' Pittaway and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Spalding and a brother, Robert Peterson.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Peter Erickson will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Covenant Church.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Donald Larson Sr.
AURORA, Wis. - Donald B. Larson Sr., of Aurora, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, at his home.
He was born on Feb. 15, 1948, the son of the late Howard and Ellen (Cantwell) Larson.
Donald graduated from Florence High School in 1967. He received a degree in gunsmithing from Trinidad Junior State College in Trinidad, Colo. Don worked as a gunsmith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, attending gun shows, and watching football, especially the Denver Broncos. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by four children, Hester (John) Cowling of Norway, Donald Jr. of Aurora, Heather Clifford of Niagara, Wis., and Robert of Escanaba; two brothers, Richard of Aurora and Robert of Appleton, Wis.; two sisters, Laurie of Crystal Falls and Carol of Aurora; five grandchildren, Johnny and Jeremiah Cowling, Megan Larson, and Victoria and Ashley Clifford; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald and one son-in-law, Brian Clifford.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Kingsford Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Mark Markham will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Kingsford with arrangements.

Scholastica Manders
KINGSFORD - Scholastica "Sally" Manders, 86, formerly of Kingsford, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, in Gunter, Texas.
She was born March 5, 1919, in Kenosha, Wis. She was a former member of St. Mary Queen of Peace Church in Kingsford.
Sally married Arthur Manders on Nov. 30, 1939, in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death in 1979. She was a resident of Kingsford for more than 50 years.
For the past 11/2 years, Sally lived in Texas so she was closer to her sons.
She is survived by two sons, David (Carole) Manders of Fairview, Texas and Douglas Manders of Denison, Texas; one brother, Leo (Evelyn) Bucko of Sacramento, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by seven siblings.
Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Queen of Peace Church in Kingsford.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at the church. Fr. Paul Nomellini will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary Queen of Peace Church or to the charity of your choice.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the arrangements.

Earl J. Raboin
GOODMAN - Earl J. Raboin, 89, of Goodman died Sat. Jan. 14, 2006 at the Oddfellow Nursing Home in Green Bay. He was born on Sept. 10, 1916 in Daggett, MI the son of the late Louis and Esther (Foley) Raboin.
Earl proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater. He worked for 47 years at the Goodman Mill.
Earl was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His passion was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He had a genuine love for family, God, and nature. He was an excellent storyteller and was a quiet teacher to his family and friends. He will be remembered as a gentle man.
He was a very talented man and loved sharing his talents with others. He enjoyed fly fishing and was an expert at tying flies. He enjoyed giving his flies to everyone. He was a remarkable woodworker, making cabinets for his home and furniture for his family. Earl had the ability to make treasures from things that others would throw away. He also enjoyed being in the outdoors hunting, fishing, and trapping.
Earl married Mary Ann Matetich on Aug. 23, 1941 at St. Joan of Arc Church in Goodman. She preceded him in death on June 14, 2004.
He leaves his three children June (Sam) Sawant of Hartland, WI, William (Lillis) Raboin of Manitowoc, WI and Mary 'Betsy' (James) Pisczor of Ashwaubenon, WI one sister Lucille Engel of Goodman, 8 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. He was anxiously awaiting the birth of his new great grandson.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Norman and Ray, one sister Gladys Shaker, and a grandson-in-law John Engberg.
Visitation will be Sat. Jan. 28 from 9-11am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Goodman. Services will be Sat. at 11am at the church. Father David Schmidt will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in the Glenwood cemetery.
The Tondin-Ross and Freeman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Arthur Larson
FOSTER CITY - Arthur C. Larson, 75, of N6944 Harry Peterson Road, Foster City, entered into the presence of the Lord on Friday, Jan. 13, 2006, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
He was born July 15, 1930, in Chicago, son of the late Arthur and Lillian (Olson) Larson. He moved to Foster City with his mother at the age of four and has been a resident ever since. He graduated from the Felch High School in 1948.
Art married Florence Gustafson on Nov. 27, 1974, at the home of her parents in Iron Mountain.
Art was an adult foster care provider for more than 35 years. He was an active member of the Mission Covenant Church in Foster City having served in various capacities.
Art was an avid reader and was a whiz at crossword puzzles. Other hobbies included working in the woods and gardening. In the summers, he enjoyed working as a tour guide at the House of Yesteryear in Quinnesec.
He is survived by his wife, Florence, and two sons, David Larson of Foster City and Daniel Larson, a student at North Park Seminary in Chicago.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Mission Covenant Church in Foster City.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church. Rev. David Anderson will officiate and will be assisted by Larry Neargarth.
Burial will be in the Foster City cemetery.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Ida Selle
KINGSFORD - Ida Selle, 97, of Kingsford, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2006, at Manorcare Health Services.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The Tondin-Ross and Freeman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
