Margie Voelker
Spread Eagle-Margie K. Voelker, 61 of Spread Eagle died Fri. April 14, 2006 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain. She was born on August 18, 1944 in New Berlin, WI the daughter of the late William and Iola (Schmitz) Schmitz.
Margie owned Girl Friday Office Help and had worked at T.G. United. She was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where she was in the Creative Kindness group. She enjoyed camping and volunteering for the American Cancer Society.
She married Wayne Voelker on Aug. 17, 1985 in Green Bay.
Margie is survived by her husband Wayne, nine children Master Sgt. Russell Erickson of Hanau Army Base, Germany,
Heidi Erickson of Florence, Wesley (Pam) Erickson of Anchorage, Alaska, David (Lisa) Erickson of Iron Mountain,
Barbara Voelker of Athelstane, Michelle (Dale) Finder of Goodman, Kelly (Mike) Blohm of Wausaukee, Karmen Voelker of Kiel, WI, and Allen Jones of Germany. one brother Edward (Laura) Scmitz of Muskego, WI, two sisters Ilamay Fredericks of New Berlin, WI and Karen Lang of Milwaukee, 18 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sat. April 29, 2006 from 12noon-1:00 pm at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Florence. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm at the church on Sat. April 29. Rev. Doug Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the Harmony cemetery in Harmony, WI.
The Tondin-Ross and Freeman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Agnes Benoit
KINGSFORD - Agnes Benoit, 101, of 125 Withworth St. in Kingsford, died Thursday, April 13, 2006, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She was born on March 25, 1905, in Duluth, Minn., the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary (Shepard) Falconer.
She married Earl L. Benoit on Jan. 26, 1924, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 1962. The couple lived in Kingsford until 1951 when they moved to Olmstead Falls, Ohio. They returned to Kingsford in 1960.
Agnes was a longtime member of a friendship card club, the Order of the Eastern Star, and Royal Neighbors of America.
Agnes is survived by three children, Gerold (Kitty) Benoit of Hemit, Calif., Joyce (Robert) Erickson of Kingsford, and Janice (Bill) Lange of Popple River, Wis.; eight grandchildren, Richard Nelson, Jeanne Dorn, Patricia Kulpa, Maryjane Brunning, Arthur Lange, Paul Lange, Karen Erickson, and Linda Eis, six great-grandchildren Jennifer, Angela and Michelle Eis, Jason Kulpa, Ranae Specht, and David Benoit; and four great-great grandchildren, Jesse and Isaac Specht and Shauna and Brandon Benoit.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Maryellen Nelson and one grandson, Billy Benoit.
Visitation will be Saturday from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Alberta I. Mattson
IRON MOUNTAIN - Alberta I. Mattson, 71, of Iron Mountain, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 12, 2006.
She was born on May 11, 1934, the daughter of the late Richard and Caroline (Gasteyer) Sheldon, and was the first baby to born in Fordville. Alberta graduated from Felch High School in 1953 and worked for Wisconsin Electric for a while. For the next 25 years, Alberta worked as a bookkeeper at the A&P; Store and the IGA stores.
Alberta was an active member of the First Lutheran Church and served on various committees over the years. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.
On April 9, 1955, she married David L. Mattson at Zion Lutheran Church in Metropolitan. They had just celebrated 51 years of marriage. They have five children Debra (Michael) Furno of Iron Mountain, Susan (James) Lindeman of Iron Mountain, David "Henry" Mattson of Iron Mountain, Carolyn (David) Alquist of Westminster, Colo., and Alan (Mary) Mattson of Grand Rapids, lower Michigan. She leaves eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
She is survived by two sisters, Dorothy (Donald) Wickman of Spread Eagle, Wis. and Beverly (Ray) Wickman of Livonia, lower Michigan and two brothers Kenneth (Jacquelyn) Sheldon and Jack (Jeanette) Sheldon, both of Norway Lake and several nieces and nephews.
Alberta was preceded in death by three sisters, Loretta (Leslie) Nelson, Marcellia (Paul) Anderson and Delores "Tutti" (Mureal) Schie, and one brother, Gerald (Norma) Sheldon.
Visitation will be Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at First Lutheran Church. Rev. Gene Wickman will officiate. A lunch will follow in the Luther Hall of the church.
Burial will be in the Felch cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Richard and Brian Bongi, Dennis Mattson, Michael Furno, James Lindeman, and David Alquist.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home with the funeral arrangements.

Ellen Sonnenberg
KINGSFORD - Ellen May Sonnenberg, 96, of 945 Woodward Ave., Kingsford, died Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.
She was born on April 16, 1909, in Bruce, Wis., daughter of the late Thurlow E. and Caroline (Waser) Andrus.
She married Carl Sonnenberg on July 2, 1934, in Waukegan, Ill., and he preceded her in death in 1967.
Ellen has been a resident of the area for the last 29 years, moving here from Lake Elwood after 17 years. She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing bridge and reading.
She and her husband owned and operated Sonnenberg's Appliances in Two Rivers, Wis., for many years.
Ellen is survived by a sister, Patricia Doncheck of Lakeport, Calif.; six nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and great-nephews and many great-great nieces and great-great nephews
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
The funeral service will follow Saturday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Lee Liverance will officiate.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Northwoods AirLifeline.

Anna Dario
IRON MOUNTAIN - Anna I. Dario, 88, of 100 W. Main St. in Iron Mountain, died Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at Freeman Nursing and Rehabilitation Community.
She was born on July 26, 1917, in Iron Mountain.
She was a lifelong resident of Iron Mountain. Anna worked as a nurse's aide at Freeman's Convalescent Home for more than 35 years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Anna married David Dario on Aug. 12, 1933, in Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death in 1976.
She is survived by three children, Joyce Dario of Iron Mountain, Gerry (Jerry) Carollo of Iron Mountain, and David (Barbara) Dario of Crystal River, Fla.; one sister, Eleanor (William) Michaud of Kingsford; seven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a special grandson, James Carollo, who called his grandmother every night from California, and a special friend and roommate at Freeman's, Mary Ropelle of Norway.
Anna was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel Valerio; her father, Domenic Massa; and four brothers, Ernest, James, Domenic Jr., and George Massa.
Private family services will be held.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
The family would like to thank the staff at Freeman's and Anna's doctors, Dr. Ellen VanLaanen and Dr. Daniel McMahon for their tender loving care.
The Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mary Hill
KINGSFORD - Mary Hill, 91, of 528 Waverly St., Kingsford, died Sunday, April 9, 2006, at Hyland Nursing Home in Iron Mountain.
She was born Jan. 8, 1915, in Amberg, Wis., daughter of the late Gardner and Ada Mae (Whaley) Briggs. Mary was a 1933 graduate of Kingsford High School and resided in this area for most of her life.
She married Willard Hill on Oct. 10, 1935, in Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death on Jan. 5, 1996.
Mary was a member of Cornerstone Community Church. She enjoyed ceramics and was an avid quilter. Mary made quilts for all of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. She won the grand champion award and several blue ribbons on quilts she entered in the county fair.
Mary loved writing children's stories. She wrote and illustrated books for all of her grandchildren. Mary also enjoyed going to Family Ties and entertaining people by singing the "Burglar Song."
She is survived by four daughters, Marjorie Willis (fiance, Mel Johnson), Donna (Heber) Mack, and Nancy (Peter) D'Alberto, all of Iron Mountain, and Judith (Richard) Metzing of Shreveport, La.; a brother, John (Thelma) Briggs of Portland, Ore.; 12 grandchildren, Michael (Tammy) Willis, Jeffrey (Faith) Willis, Jonathan (Kathy) Willis, Mark (April) Willis, Gregory Mack, Laurie (John) Steele, Cynthia (Brian) Hord, Peter (Iris) D'Alberto Jr., Paul (Jayne) D'Alberto, Steve (Wendy) D'Alberto, Shawna (Dennis) Davis and Darren Metzing; and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Arvin and Edward; three sisters, Muriel, Bulah and Jessica; and a son-in-law, James Willis.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday at Immanuel Baptist Church in Kingsford.
Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Rev. James Danielson will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship.

Roy Chartier
IRON MOUNTAIN - Roy R. Chartier Sr., 82, of 116 West D St., Iron Mountain, died Sunday, April 9, 2006, at the VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain.
He was born on Dec. 18, 1923, in Niagara, Wis., son of the late Raymond and Myrtle (DePas) Chartier. He served in the United States Army during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
He married Jean LaRoux on Nov. 14, 1942.
Roy worked as a welder and fabricator for Lake Shore for more than 40 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Lake Shore retirees.
Roy is survived by his wife of more than 63 years, Jean Chartier of Iron Mountain; three sons, Roy (Cheryl) Chartier Jr. of Caledonia, Wis., Jeff (Mary) Chartier of Kingsford, and Tim (Debbie) Chartier of Iron Mountain; two daughters, Becky (Rich) Etka of Norway and Carrie (Allan) Swanson of Iron Mountain; nine grandchildren, Roy III, Victor and Albert (Heidi) Chartier, Jill Nekhay and Jamie Chartier, Amanda Etka and Ben, Jacob and Alexa Swanson; five great-grandchildren, Christopher and Megan Nekhay and Angela, Danielle and Kyra Chartier; a brother, William (June) Chartier of Ohio; a sister, Maxine (Ralph) Stauffer of Kingsford and many other relatives and friends.
Roy was preceded in death by four brothers, Kenneth, Donald, Edward, and Allan Chartier.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
The funeral will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will officiate. Graveside military rites will be accorded by the Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home with the arrangements.

Gordon Herzog
AURORA, Wis. - Gordon R. "Sonny" Herzog, 78, of Aurora, died Saturday, April 8, 2006, at his home.
He was born on Oct. 6, 1927, in Niagara, the son of the late Rhinehart and Helen (Brown) Herzog.
Gordon served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a dairy farmer and the owner/operator of Herzog Excavating and Gordy's Royal Flush. He enjoyed hunting.
He married Shirley Anderson on July 7, 1951, at the Aurora Free Church.
Gordon is survived by his wife, Shirley; three daughters, Randi (Robert) Kusmitch of Aurora, Rebecca (Alan) Cornelissen of DePere, Wis., and Ronda (Douglas) Jacobs of Aurora; a brother, Marvin (Bonnie) Herzog of Iron Mountain, two aunt, Hazel DeForge of Niagara, Wis. and Lillice Herzog of Randville; six grandchildren, Butch Kusmitch and Tanya Neuens, both of Aurora, Andrew and Adam Cornelissen, both of DePere, Chad Jacobs of Aurora and Amanda Jacobs of Niagara; three great-grandchildren, Logan, Makayla, and Isabel Jacobs; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Geraine Herzog and Darlene Tappy.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Rev. Brad Moore will officiate.
Burial will be in the Homestead-Aurora cemetery.
His grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.
