M. Elizabeth Noskey Michaud
KINGSFORD - M. Elizabeth "Betty" Noskey Michaud, 89, of Kingsford, went to be with the lord on
Tuesday, March 21, 2006. She was born on July 26, 1917 to Jacob and Elizabeth Smith in Iron Mountain. Betty graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1935, attended business college and then joined the Commercial National Bank in the book keeping department. After the war she left her job to raise her family. She returned to the bank in 1961 and was promoted to head book keeper and bank officer. Betty retired in February of 1983 and was honored with a retirement party for her years of service with her co-workers who had also become dear friends.
In June of 1946 she was joined in matrimony at St. Mary and St. Joseph Church to William J. Noskey, who had courted her for many years. They had four children, Jane (Curtis) Kipke of Traverse City, MI Janet Noskey of Woodstock, VT Joanne (Harry) Cook of East Tawas, MI and Ronald (Lori) Noskey of Negaunee. She leaves six grandchildren, Bryan (Karen) Kipke of Nashville, TN Elizabeth Kipke of Traverse City, MI Shelly Kipke of Grand Rapids, MI Lance Corporal Kevin Kipke, USMC of Yuma, AZ Jessica Noskey and Benjamin Noskey of Negaunee. Betty is also survived by a brother, Harold (Eva) Smith of Iron Mountain and a sister Ethel Mae "Smitty" Sullivan of California and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband William Noskey in 1960. She was also preceded in death by a sister Verna.
Betty married Earl Michaud in 1988 at American Martyrs Church in Kingsford where they enjoyed many friends and shared their faith together. Earl preceded her in death in 1996.
She will be remembered first as a loving and dedicated mother in the hearts of her children. Also, as a lifelong friend to Marge Menghini and many who shared her life of service, integrity and always her faithfulness to the lord. She was an active member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Church and sang in the church choir. Since 1988 she has been a member of American Martyrs Church in Kingsford and served in various activities at American Martyrs. She was also a member of the Business and Professional Women's Association. Betty was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed making clothing for her family. She also enjoyed making baby towels for the hospital league and other organizations.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 24, 2006 from 9:00-10:30 am at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at American Martyrs Church. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of the Christian burial. Burial will be in Iron Mountain cemetery Park.
Her children will be forever grateful to the many staff members a Manor Care Nursing Home who lovingly served her during her six years as a patient.

Elsa Dabb
Kingsford - Elsa M. Dabb 89, of Kingsford, went to be with her lord and savior on Friday, March 17, 2006. She was born on October 22, 1916 in Quinnesec, Michigan, daughter of the late Alexander and Ingeborg (Halverson) Forstrom. Elsa was a lifelong resident of Kingsford. She married Edward Dabb on February 28, 1934, and he preceded her in death on April 25, 1959. Elsa worked as a cook for the Breitung Twp. Schools for 29 years and retired in 1988. She was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church. Elsa loved children and enjoyed her work as a cook for the school.
She is survived by two sons, Donald (Rose) Dabb of Aurora and Wayne (Jennie) Dabb of Vulcan. A daughter, Nancy (Ron) Hulce of Norway. Three brothers, Robert and Jack Forstrom of Morgan Hills, CA and David (Lucille) Forstrom of Iron Mountain. Two sisters, Olga Nunnamacker of San Jose, CA and Nancy Dinapoli of Santa Cruz, California.
Fifteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and three great- great grandchildren.
Elsa was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy, Clarence and Erik Forstrom.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 22, 2006 from 10:00-12 noon at the Kingsford Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at Noon at the funeral home. Rev. Ron Wolfe will officiate. Burial will be in Iron Mountain cemetery Park. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Wally Swanson
IRON MOUNTAIN - Wallace A. "Wally" Swanson
81, of 1020 Kimberly Ave. Iron Mountain. Died, Thursday March 16, 2006 at his home. He was born on August 24, 1924 in Iron Mountain, the son of the late August and Anne (Aimone) Swanson. Wally graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1942 and then from Northwestern University with a degree in music education. He was the band and choral director at Iron Mountain schools for 37 years. On June 9, 1952 he married Lois Johnson of Iron Mountain. He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Army Signal Corp. in China, India and Burma for two years.
Wally was a member of First Lutheran Church where he was a former choir director and church council member. He was also a member of Pine Grove Country Club where he served on the board of directors.
He is survived by his wife Lois.
Three sons, Craig (Diane) Swanson of Pleasant Prairie, WI Gary (Catherine) Swanson of Lexington, MA and Mark (Anne) Swanson of Manitowoc, WI. Six grandchildren, Amy, Jon, Eric, Melissa, Joshua and Matthew. A brother in law, Gus (Joann) Johnson and sister in laws, Faye (Bruce) Johnson and Genevieve (Otis) Vradenberg. Also by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Wally was preceded in death by a brother Alton and brothers in law Bruce and Jim Johnson.
He was blessed to be a blessing.
Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00-1:00 at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:30pm at the First Lutheran Church of Iron Mountain. Rev. Gene Wickman will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home with the funeral arrangements.

John Steger
IRON MOUNTAIN - John Steger 82, of Iron Mountain died Thursday, March 16, 2006 at his home. He was born in Chicago, on May 9, 1923, son of the late Louis and Lena (Klann) Steger. He served in the United States Army during WWII. He met and married Evelyn Marie Hansen in Chicago on August 10, 1945, and she preceded him in death on January 19, 1988. He worked as a maintenance mechanic for the Corrugated Box Company in Chicago until retiring in 1988.
John moved to the area in 1994 to be near family after the loss of his wife. After living in Goodman for awhile he moved to Iron Mountain. He loved carpentry and watching professional wrestling.
John is survived by five children Marie (David) Bash of Iron Mountain, Phillip (Flora) Steger of Iron Mountain, Janet (Kevin) Dolatowski of Iron Mountain, Nancy Steger of Iron Mountain, and Robert Steger of Chicago, IL
17 grandchildren 13 great grandchildren
Visitation will be on Sunday, March 19, 2006 from 11:30 to 1:30pm at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will be Sunday at 1:30pm at the funeral home. Rev. Michael March will officiate.
Burial will be in the Woodlawn cemetery in Chicago, IL
In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in his memory.

Michelle Forcey
Niagara - Michelle Marie (Posselt) Forcey, 41, of Niagara, died Thurs. March 16, 2006 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain, after a two year battle with cancer. She was born on Nov. 30, 1964 in Shawano, WI.
Michelle graduated from Shawano High School in 1982 and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 1986. She worked for the Shawano radio station and its affiliate station, WJNR, during the mid to late 1980's She then went to work at the Iron Mountain-Kingsford Post Office for twelve years.
She attended Riverside United Methodist Church in Niagara.
Michelle married Randall Forcey on May 30, 1982 at First United Methodist Church in Iron Mountain.
Michelle is survived by her husband Randall, her sons Samuel and Jacob, her parents David and Jewell Posselt of Shawano, her sister Kerry (Mark) Harding of Rutland, VT, her brothers Daniel Posselt of Shawano and Andrew Posselt of Madison, her aunts and uncles Dennis and Ursula Posselt of Shawano and James and Patsy Vandenbrook of Bonduel, WI, her mother-in-law Betty Forcey of Iron Mountain, her sisters-in-law Dale (Jeff) Marquis of Amberg, Dorothy (Dana) Forcey of Iron Mountain, Elizabeth Jones of Kingsford, Diane (Don) Bloch of Iron Mountain, her brother-in-law David (Joan) Forcey of West Bend, WI and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her father-in-law David Forcey.
Visitation will be Tues. from 11:30am-1:30pm at Riverside United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm Tues at the church. Reverend Patricia Nolet will officiate. Burial will be in the Niagara cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.
The Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.

Ellen Hayward
COMMONWEALTH - Ellen J. Hayward, 88, of Commonwealth, died Weds. March 15, 2006 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain. She was born on Sept. 23, 1917, in Milwaukee, the daughter of the late Alexander and Clara (Kallas) Wood.
Ellen received her teacher certificate from County Normal. She taught at a one room schoolhouse in Stephenson Township.
She married Raymond Hayward on June 6, 1942 in Stephenson. He preceded her in death in 1994. Together the couple ran the family farm in Stephenson prior to owning and operating Northern Products Manufacturing Company which is most remembered for its sawmill.
Ellen was a member of Aurora Free Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, bird watching, gardening, and crocheting. An avid sports fan, her favorite teams were the Chicago Cubs, the Green Bay Packers, and the Florence Bobcats.
She is survived by four daughters Sandra (Jim) Campbell of Commonwealth, Bonnie (Dennis) Daneels of Roscoe, IL, Jean (David) Walker of Tarpon Springs, FL, and Wendy (Dan) Zoeller of Commonwealth, one brother Alexander (Lorraine) Wood, Jr. of Stephenson, nine grandchildren Jim Campbell, Ray Campbell, Mary Ellen Daneels, Peter Deneels, Anne Marie Daneels Smith, David Walker, Wendy Walker Duffey, Sandra Zoeller, and Bill Zoeller, 12 great grandchildren Matthew and Emily Campbell, Michael, Charis, and Gabriel Campbell, Alex, Jacob, Jessica and Alaina Smith, Josiah Daneels, John "Jack" Duffey, and Davy Walker, and many nieces and nephews.
Ellen was preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers.
Visitation will be Sun. from 5-7 pm at Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home and Mon. from 9-10 am at Aurora Free Church. Funeral services will be Mon. at 10 am at the church. Rev. Karl Utzat will officiate. Burial will be in the Homestead-Aurora cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Aurora Free Church or Rise International for building a school/church/hospital building in Angola.

Roy Stenfors
IRON MOUNTAIN - Roy V. Stenfors, 76, of 308 E. Hughitt St. died, Wednesday March 15, 2006 at his farm in Foster City. He was born on January 29, 1930 in Foster City, the son of the late Victor and Hilja (Longshea) Stenfors. Roy graduated from Felch High School in 1948 and attended Milwaukee Technical College for electronics.
Roy served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal with the 1st Electronic Unit in Germany during the Korean War. He married the former Willie Mae Anderson on December 15, 1951 in Iron Mountain. Roy owned and operated K and G TV service in Iron Mountain and Norway for over fifty years. He attended First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain and sang with the singing strings of the church. He loved farming, gardening, singing, logging and cutting pulp. Roy also enjoyed reading and working with his computer. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Arne, Jalmer, Leonard, Gilbert, Edward and Walter.
He is survived by his wife Willie Mae
A daughter, Judy Stenfors-Magunson of Iron Mountain.
Two brothers, Albert (Dorothy) Stenfors of Iron Mountain and Robert (Judy) Stenfors of Spooner, WI
Two sisters, Alice (Howard) Carlson of Foster City and Bertha Carlson of Foster City. Two sisters in law, JoAnne Stenfors of Foster City and Mayme Stenfors of Iron Mountain. Many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday from 12:00-2:00 at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:00pm at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
Burial will be in the Foster City cemetery.
A memorial will be established in his memory to the Mission Covenant Church in Foster City.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home with the funeral arrangements.

Verna Balzarini
KINGSFORD - Verna Eva Balzarini, 91, of Kingsford, died Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at Freeman's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kingsford.
She was born on Feb. 13, 1915, in Hermansville, daughter of the late Art and Louise (Gendron) Mitchell, but spent most of her life in Iron Mountain. She married Charles Balzarini on Aug. 9, 1932, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 1987.
Verna was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and she loved to crochet, making hundreds of afghans and scrubbies for her family and friends. She was also noted for her wonderful cooking, especially her outstanding pasties.
Verna also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and playing cards. She was a great wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. Verna was employed at Weber's Drug Store and Quality Hardware for many years.
She is survived by a son, Charles (Marie) Balzarini of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; a daughter Jackie (Carl) Lemin of Kingsford; eight grandchildren, Cristina Balzarini, Debby (John) Bray who were a great support to Verna, Laura (Tim) Krueger, Jon (Mickey) Lemin, Don (Jennifer) Lemin, Tom (Yvonne) Lemin, Marie Lemin and Nicole (John) McVicker; 16 great-grandchildren; a very special brother and friend, Art Mitchell; a sister-in-law and church partner Olympia Balzarini; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Balzarini, Agnes Mitchell, Joan Mitchell, and Mary Pucci; and many nieces and nephews, but two very close and extremely helpful nephews and their wives Bob (Isabel) Paoletti and Don (Carol) Paoletti.
Verna was preceded in death by three brothers, Duane, Earl, and Jack Mitchell; two sisters, Genevieve Deneen and Maxine Yatchek; two sisters-in-law, Rita Mitchell, and LaVerne Balzarini; and three brothers-in-law, Joe, Angelo, and Frank Balzarini
Visitation will be on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.
