Emery Perron Sr.
LORETTO - Emery J. Perron, 45, of Loretto, died suddenly of an apparent heart attack on Wednesday, May 24, 2006.
He was born Feb. 22, 1961, in Iron Mountain, son of Duane and Lillian (Blazier) Perron. He graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1979. He was a lifelong resident of the area and had lived in Loretto for the past 15 years.
Emery served in the U.S. Marines Corp. and served aboard the USS Nimitz. He was awarded the Navy Marine Corps Medal, one of the highest peace time awards, for valor over and above the call of duty. He was a former member of the Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50.
Emery was employed at Grede Foundries for the past 17 years and currently worked as a sand lab technician. His favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, and spending time at camp.
He is survived by his son, Emery Perron Jr.; his fiance, Lynn Belaire of Norway; his parents, Duane and Lillian Perron; two brothers, Philip (Andrea) Perron of Iron Mountain and Brian (Jeanne) Perron of Mundelein, Ill.; one sister, Valerie Haberkorn of Spread Eagle, Wis.; his best buddy, Abbey, his dog; many aunts; uncles; nieces, nephews, and cousin.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leo and Aimee Perron and Norman and Kathryn Blazier; a brother, Glen; a nephew, Benjamin Perron; a brother-in-law, Jack Haberkorn; and a niece, Gail Asselin.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Randville Community Hall in Randville.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Sidney Cadieu
WARREN - Sidney E. Cadieu, 98, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2006, in Warren, lower Michigan.
Sid was born in Cour De Lane, Idaho., and was an only child. He recent residence was with his daughter in Warren. His last two homes were in Iron Mountain, and Dunbar, Wis. Over the years he lived in many places out west. Sid was a graduate of Iron Mountain High School in 1925.
He was living in Kingsford, when he and Ella were married , they then moved to Phelps, Wis. He and his family moved out west in 1946, then they lived in Grand Junction, Estes Park and Roggen, Colo. He had lived in Roggen as a young child. They returned to Kingsford in 1948. In 1954, they built a home by Lilly Lake, Dunbar, Wis., on land that had been homesteaded by Sid's mother and her parents.
Sid had once belonged to the Masons and over the years he had been active with the Toastmasters organization. He was too old for World War II, so he went down to Janesville, Wis. to work as a guard at a plant that dealt in war equipment, as he wanted to do something.
He leaves his daughter Betty (John, deceased) Catalano, and three grandchildren, Juniata (Tom) Michelin, Mark Catalano and Scott Catalano. He also has many relatives in Northern Sask, Canada.
Sid was preceded by his parents, Hugh and Juniata (Lilly) Cadieu, and his wife, Ella M. (Larsen) Cadieu.
Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Don Christ, P.M. will officiate.
The family request that flowers be omitted.

Henry Kazukiewicz Sr.
SPREAD EAGLE, Wis. - Henry John Kazukiewicz Sr., 79, of Spread Eagle, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2006, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.
Henry was born on March 24, 1927, in Buffalo, N.Y., son of the late Vincent and Frances and late brothers, Al, Stanley, Walter, Leo, Art, and Ray, and surviving sister, Cecelia.
He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II, surviving kamikaze attacks. He also served in the Korean War.
Henry married Irene Lachman on Sept. 9, 1950, in Buffalo, N.Y. at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church.
Henry worked for South Buffalo Railway as a conductor, and retired in 1983. He and his wife moved from Buffalo to Spread Eagle in 1992 and have been residents here ever since. Henry enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of more than 55 years, Irene and children Thomas (Mary) Kazukiewicz of Fern, Wis., Gerald Kazukiewicz of Buffalo, Debra (Bruce) Krause Sr. of Niagara, Wis. and Robert Kazukiewicz of Buffalo; 12 grandchildren, Jennifer, Vincent, Dana, Gary, Gerald Jr., Becky, Jessica, Amanda, Bruce Jr., Robert Jr., Jessica and Henry III; and many great-grandchildren.
Henry was preceded in death by a son, Henry John Jr.
As a husband, he was the love of my life and will never ever be forgotten. He is always in my heart.
Services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the V.A. Chapel at the V.A. Medical Center in Iron Mountain. Fr. Michael Betley will officiate.
Burial will be in the Niagara cemetery.

Marian Weber
IRON MOUNTAIN - Marian Weber, 75, of 519 Houghteling St. in Iron Mountain, died Saturday, May 20, 2006, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She was born Feb. 1, 1931, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Peter and Rose (Turini) Rolando. Marian was a lifelong resident and graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1949.
She married Warren Weber on Dec. 27, 1952, at the Immaculate Conception Church. Marian worked as the secretary at Dickinson Area Catholic Schools. She was also the chairperson for the public and parochial school's hot lunch program for 15 years before she retired.
Marian was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church and a choir member for more than 50 years. She loved to golf and was a member of Pine Grove Country Club where she and Warren were the chairpersons for Scotch golf. Marian belonged to the National Pastoral Musicians Association, the National Pastoral Musicians Marquette diocesan chapter, and two bridge clubs. She was a revered 'grammy' to her two grandchildren, Nicole and Ryan.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Warren; one son, Dave Weber of Iron Mountain; one daughter; Sheri (Joe) Schmit of Pewaukee, Wis., and their children; Nicole and Ryan; one brother, Donald (Mary Jane) Rolando of Neenah, Wis.; several brothers and sisters-in-laws, Marcia Weber of Albany, Minn., Paul (LaVonne) Weber of LeCenter, Minn., and Betsy (Richard) MacDonald of Cincinnati.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Parish prayers will be recited at 7:30 p.m. this evening at the funeral home. Visitation will also be from 10 a.m. to11 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Mary & St. Joseph Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Pallbearers will be Richard Abraham, Louie Cini, William 'Red' Carlson, Donald Flaminio, Donnell Swanson, and James Swanson.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dialysis Unit at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain or to St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Leslie LaPoint
IRON MOUNTAIN - Leslie "Les" LaPoint, 90, of W7136 Upper Pine Creek Road, Upper Pine Creek, died Friday, May 19, 2006, at Freeman's Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in Kingsford. He has been a lifelong resident of the area.
He was born on Aug. 12, 1915, in Quinnesec, son of the late Amie and Mabel (Scott) LaPoint. He graduated from Quinnesec High School in 1933. Les spent four years with the Civilian Conservation Corps.
He married Adeline Marie Lessandrini on Jan. 8, 1940, and she preceded him in death in 1960. He worked as the Breitung Township superintendent of water works for many years, retiring in 1980.
Les married Clara Wender on Oct. 27, 1978.
He was a member of the Quinnesec United Methodist Church, the Golden K Kiwanis, and he loved to help with bingo at nursing homes. He was an avid Iron Mountain Mountaineers and Kingsford Flivvers fan. He loved fishing with his special friend Wally Jones. Les also enjoyed traveling and visiting his grandchildren, and making sure to attend all of their graduations, weddings, and sporting events.
He is survived by his wife, Clara; two sons, Larry (Judy) LaPoint of North Mankato, Minn. and their children, Craig, Christine, Lisa, Steve and James (Ann) LaPoint of Lawrence, Kan. and their children, Michael, Mark, Matthew, Mitchell; one daughter, Diane (Gary) Bell of Negaunee, and their children; Kevin, Kallie, and Kyle; 11 great-grandchildren; four step-children, Nancy (John) Daley, Thomas Wender, James (Bernie) Wender, all of Iron Mountain, and Diane (Dave) Pontrelli of Missoula, Mont. and a sister, Florence Hansen of Kingsford
Les was preceded in death by five brothers, Marlin, Gilbert, Harold, Steve and Stewart LaPoint.
The visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2006, from 10 a.m. to11 a.m. at the Quinnesec United Methodist Church.
The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church.
Burial will be in Quinnesec cemetery.

Albert Quandt
KINGSFORD - Albert Waldemar Quandt, 86, of Kingsford, died Monday, May 15, 2006, at his home.
He was born Aug. 18, 1919, in Hancock, son of Albert W. Quandt Sr. and Alice (Robinson) Quandt. He graduated from Hancock High School and attended Culver Military Academy in Culver, Ind. He graduated from Michigan College of Mining and Technology in 1942. He served in the Army Corps of Engineers during World War II.
On Aug. 24, 1945, he married Zelda S. Caudle in Salerno, Italy. He resided in the Houghton area until 1981, when he moved to Dickinson County.
Mr. Quandt was the former president and chairman of the Hamar-Quandt Co., which later became 41 Lumber. He was active in the Houghton Rotary Club and Portage Lake United Church in Houghton, and was a life trustee of the Michigan Technological University Fund.
He is survived by a son, Stephen (Patricia) Quandt of Spread Eagle, Wis.; a daughter, Sara (Thomas Arcury) Quandt of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a sister, Marjorie of Chicago; four grandchildren, David Quandt, Carol Quandt, Justin Arcury, and Alice Arcury-Quandt; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife and by two sisters, Martha Quandt and Harriet Quandt.
There will be no visitation. Services will be private.
Memorials may be sent to The Michigan Technological University Fund, 1400 Townsend Drive, Houghton, MI, 49931.

William Martin II
KINGSFORD - William "Bill" Martin II, 83, of Kingsford, died Sunday, May 14, 2006, at Freeman's Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in Kingsford.
Bill was born April 10, 1923 in Chicago, son of the late William and Stella (Boivin) Martin. He was a World War II veteran serving as a colonel in the United States Air Force and was awarded the bronze star and purple heart.
Bill married Ora Woodward on Jan. 6, 1946, in Topeka, Kan. He worked as a contract inspector for the U.S. government for many years until retirement.
Bill enjoyed the outdoors and wood carving. He carved many beautiful creations of spectacular skill and art. Bill was also an avid snowmobile rider and was hugely instrumental in the formation of the Tri-County Snowmobile Club. He knew every trail in the area and was a part of implementing the railroad bridge used to access the Wisconsin trails.
Bill loved his family very much and especially adored his wife of 60 years, Ora. He spent the last 1 1/2 months with her in the nursing home while he was sick, and their love never wavered in sickness or in health.
Bill is survived by his wife, Ora; a son, Bill (Sherry) Martin of Hermansville; two daughters, Lynn (Ken) Kramer and Jan (Steve) Davidson, both of Iron Mountain; two brothers, Eugene (Pat) Martin of Peoria, Ill. and Raymond Martin of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Marlene Winchester of Carpentersville, Ill.; 11 grandchildren, Tara, Crystal, Caleb, Logan, Mariah, Jamie, Tiffany, Heather, Amber, Chad and Miranda; and two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Rylee.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Lorraine.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Memorial services will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
Burial will be in Dickinson County Memorial Gardens.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.
