Cyril Mattord
BREITUNG TOWNSHIP - Cyril J. Mattord, 92, of N3807 Grandview Drive, Breitung Township, died Sunday, May 14, 2006, at his home.
He was born March 30, 1914, in Sagola, son of the late Victor and Emma (Allard) Mattord. Cyril has been a resident of this area his entire life.
He married the former Gladys Norgren in Iron Mountain on July 3, 1939. Cyril worked at Dickinson Homes for many years retiring in 1979.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. Cyril enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed doing carpentry work and reading. He loved helping his family with work projects.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys; his son, Leon (Charlotte) Mattord of Upper Pine Creek; two daughters, Sandy (Joe) Corsi of Quinnesec and Sally Mattord of Aurora, Wis.; seven grandchildren, Tim (Lynn) Mattord, Jeff (Trish) Mattord, Joe (Kelly) Corsi, Chris (Jacqui) Corsi, Scott (Cindy) Corsi, John Corsi and Luke Corsi; eight great-grandchildren, Andy, Adam, Morgan, Brianna, Casey, Jada, Bill and Jake and, many nieces and nephews.
Cyril was preceded in death by 10 sisters, Mary, Margaret, Eva, Jane, Lillian, Rose, Carrie, Eldora, Eunice, Louise, and two brothers, William and Ernest.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will offer the Mass of the Christian burial.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec cemetery. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory to the Marquette Home Hospice.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Mildred Hagerup
IRON MOUNTAIN - Mildred I. Hagerup, 89, of Iron Mountain, died Saturday, May 13, 2006, at Freeman's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kingsford.
She was born Feb. 9, 1917, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Gunnard and Christine (Sacketson) Wickman.
After graduating from Iron Mountain High School, Millie attended the Augustana Hospital School of Nursing and received a degree as a registered nurse. She also had training as an X-ray technician for two years. Millie was a R.N., R.T., and office manager for a cardiovascular surgeon in the Chicago area for 20 years before retiring.
She married Leonard Hagerup in 1970, and he preceded her in death in 1978.
She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and Pine Grove Country Club. She enjoyed music, cards, golf and spending time with friends.
She is survived by one sister-in-law, Carol (George ) Lundin and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Millie was also preceded in death by her sister, Alice Rushford Simmons and three brothers, Marvin, George, and Henry Wickman.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, May 22, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. at the church. Rev. Stephen Cowen will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Gildo DeMuri
IRON MOUNTAIN - Gildo DeMuri, 87, of 508 E. Main St., Iron Mountain, died Thursday, May 11, 2006, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
He was born August 20, 1918, in Iron Mountain, son of Italian immigrants Antonio and Angelina (Attocchi) DeMuri. Gildo graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1936 and was a lifelong resident of the area.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, obtaining the rank of staff sergeant.
Gildo married Christine Frigo on June 23, 1956, in Florence, Wis. She preceded him in death on Jan. 6, 1991.
Gildo worked for Frigo Cheese, starting out as a warehouse worker. Upon returning from the war, he became an office manager and eventually moved into the position of assistant general manager and part-owner.
Gildo was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50. He enjoyed music, the outdoors, camping, canoeing and cross country skiing.
Gildo is survived by one daughter, Bernadette (Mindas Siliunas) DeMuri of Elm Grove, Wis.; three sons, Jerome (Lori) DeMuri of Melbourne, Fla., Gregory (Patricia) DeMuri of Stoughton, Wis., and Brian (Elizabeth Bruce) DeMuri of Berlin, Wis.; a brother, Guido (Marie) DeMuri of Iron Mountain; four sisters, Jenny Koller, Antoinette Kovachich, Adeline DeJuliannie and Doris (Jay) Constantini, all of Iron Mountain; nine grandchildren, Michael DeMuri -Haeberle, Brian DeMuri-Haeberle, Jonas DeMuri-Siliunas, Sophia DeMuri, Adam DeMuri, Rebecca DeMuri, Benjamin DeMuri, Cecilia Bruce-DeMuri and Camille Bruce-DeMuri; two step-grandchildren, Michael and Kelly Ormesher; three brothers-in-law, Tony (Frances) Frigo, Paul Frigo and Fr. William Frigo; four sisters-in-law, Sister Pasqualina Frigo, Theresa Zappetteli, Alma Frigo and Frances Frigo; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Rena Anderson and Marie Stockero, and one brother, Geno DeMuri.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Tondin-Ross and Freeman Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home and 1 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Msgr. James Kaczmarek and Fr. William Frigo will concelebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Carmelite Monastery.
The family has entrusted the Tondin-Ross and Freeman Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Rayna Heiskala
FELCH - Rayna Perseus Heiskala, two month-old daughter of Jamie Heiskala and James Weber of Felch, died Wednesday, May 10, 2006, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.
She was born on March 3, 2006, in Iron Mountain.
She was lovingly called sweet baby Rayna by her family.
In addition to her mother and father, she is survived by her maternal grandparents, Russell Heiskala of Felch and Laura and Michael Amacher of Monticello, Wis., her paternal grandparents, Robert and Mary Beth Weber of Kingsford; maternal great-grandparents, Martha Heiskala of Felch and Richard and Eve Burger of Kenosha, Wis.; paternal great-grandmother, Charlotte Jedda of Iron Mountain; two half-brothers, Christopher Dziedzik of Vulcan and Michael Weber of Florida; and an uncle, David Heiskala of Felch.
Graveside services were held today at cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

James R. Fruik, Jr.
Iron Mountain - James R. Fruik Jr., 50, of N3905 Pine Mtn. Rd. Breitung Twp., died Friday, May 5, 2006 at Florence Villa Nursing Home.
He was born November 28, 1955 in Stuttgart, Germany. Jim was a graduate of Iron Mountain High School. After high school he worked for some time at the Dickinson Inn in Iron Mountain. He also worked in the restaurant business in Hawaii and Florida, before returning to this area in October 2005. Jim enjoyed reading and loved animals and his pets.
He was preceded in death by his mother Joan and his sister Rosemary Varnadore.
He is survived by his father and step mother James Sr. and Clara Fruik of Breitung Twp.
His brothers, Paul (Sue) Fruik of Tampa, Florida Charles Fruik of Iron Mountain, Jerry Fruik of Green Bay, WI and Daniel (Debbie) Fruik of Delaware. Sisters, Sharon (Keith) Wirkus of Shawano, WI and Terri Fruik of Iron Mountain. Several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00am on Saturday at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am at the funeral home. Rev. Peter Erickson will officiate. Burial will be in Channing cemetery.

Dwaine Munn
KINGSFORD -Dwaine Munn, 76, of Kingsford died, Thursday, May 4, 2006, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
He was born on Feb. 5, 1930, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Roy and Lilly (Glawe) Munn. He graduated from Kingsford High School in 1947. Dwaine served in the United States Army.
He married the former Corrine Bafile on Jan. 30, 1951, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain.
Dwaine worked as a foreman for Bacco Construction for many years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the American Martyrs Catholic Church. He belonged to the American Legion Post 50 in Iron Mountain. He enjoyed spending time at camp and trout fishing. He loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dwaine is survived by his wife, Corrine; his children, Randy (Denise) Munn of Iron Mountain, Pam (Dick) Pierquet of Pulaski, Wis., and Chris (Tom) Steeno of Cedarville, Wis.; grandchildren, Darcy (Jay) Brown, Brian (Laura) Munn, Michelle (Brandon) Witcher, Jeffery, and Meagan Pierquet, Brent and Jared Steeno and great-grandchildren, Cole and Julia Brown, Elaine and Jake Munn
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
The funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.

James E. Balmes
KINGSFORD - James Edward Balmes, 77, of 516 Harding Ave., Kingsford, died Thursday, May 4, 2006, at Hyland Nursing Home in Iron Mountain.
He was born on Feb. 18, 1929, in Marquette, the son of the late William and Rae (Feeley) Balmes. He graduated from Bishop Baraga High School class of 1947. Jim was a member of the United States National Guard out of Ishpeming, and was a part of the medic unit.
He married Marjorie Ann Nelson on July 29, 1950, in Marquette at St. Peter Cathedral.
James attended dental courses, and was licensed by the National Board for Certification and referred to as a CDT (Certified Dental Technician) by the American Dental Association. While in Marquette, he worked at the Quinn Dental lab. He began his career at the VA as a dental technician on March 24, 1952. JIm founded the Balmes Dental Lab and worked with the VA Hospital in this position until his retirement on March 17, 1984.
He was a member of the St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kingsford. He enjoyed hunting and playing cards. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, and his dog, Harley Ann. Jim gave 25 years of volunteer service to the VA Federal Credit Union.
Jim is survived by his wife, Marjorie; children, Nancy Ann (Mark) Bertrand of Howell, lower Michigan, Paul (Theresa) Balmes of Kingsford and David (Laurie) Balmes of Iron Mountain; four grandchildren, Michelle and Nicole Bertrand and Zachary and Kalli Balmes.
He was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Kristine Balmes.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Burial will be at cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
Special thanks to Dr. Leonard and his staff, and the staff at Hyland Nursing Home for their wonderful care.

Lucille Eisemann
KINGSFORD - Lucille D. Eisemann, 99, of Kingsford died Friday, April 28, 2006, at Freeman Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in Kingsford.
She was born on June 26, 1907, in Iron Mountain, the daughter of the late Peter and Georgina D'Alberto.
Lucille graduated from Iron Mountain High School and Dundon's Business College. She enjoyed going to her camp in Sagola, and camping.
Lucille was a very talented ice skater and was a skating instructor for community schools.
She married Carl Eisemann in Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death in 1975.
Lucille is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Fern and Lee Spigarelli of Iron Mountain; a sister, Marquerite Sorenson of Powers, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Viola, Edith, and Lorraine, and two brothers, Frank and Don.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Tondin-Ross and Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. David Anderson officiating.
Burial will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
The Tondin-Ross and Freeman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
