Lois Anna Johanna DiBiase
IRON MOUNTAIN - Lois Anna Johanna DiBiase, 83, of 613 West B St., Iron Mountain, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2006, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She was born on Dec. 8, 1922, in Metropolitan, the daughter of the late Emil and Ida (Wickman) Mattson.
Lois graduated from Felch High School. She worked at Kemper Insurance in Chicago, as a telephone operator at Michigan Bell, and as a dispatcher for the Dickinson County Sheriff's Department. After retiring, Lois and her husband, Frank spent many winters in Brooksville, Fla.
She was an active member of First Lutheran Church and its quilting group. She enjoyed knitting, quilting, doing crossword puzzles, going for walks, and collecting angels.
Lois was very devoted to her faith and to her family.
She married Frank DiBiase on April 13, 1946, in Iron Mountain. The couple celebrated 60 years of marriage this year.
Lois is survived by her husband, Frank; two daughters, Yvonne (Tom) Sericati of New Baltimore, lower Michigan and Cindy Reynolds of Iron Mountain; two brothers, Elroy (Dee) Mattson and David Mattson, both of Iron Mountain; six grandchildren, Tami (Jerry) Higgins, Traci Sericati, John (Rhonda) Reynolds, Brad (Jessie) Reynolds, Steven Reynolds, and Nicholas Reynolds; five great-grandchildren, Madisun and Catelyn Higgins and Tyler, Hunter and Hailey Reynolds; one sister-in-law, Sally Mattson of Appleton, Wis.; two godsons, Dennis Mattson and Richard Bongi; and many other loving relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Esley Mattson and Donald Mattson; one sister, Phyllis (David) Bongi, and a sister-in-law, Alberta Mattson.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Rev. James Chinery and Rev. David Anderson will officiate. Funeral services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at First Lutheran Church. Rev. James Chinery will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
Her grandsons and godsons will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sjogren's Syndrome Foundation Inc., the American Lung Association, or the First Lutheran Church.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

George E. Anderson Sr.
IRON MOUNTAIN - George E. Anderson Sr., 57, of 1621 Parkview Drive in Iron Mountain, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2006, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
He was born on April 20, 1949, in Norway, son of the late E. William and Lucile (Tracy) Anderson. He was a lifelong resident of the area and as a child, George enjoyed many summers with his family at Spread Eagle, Wis.
He graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1967. He attended the University of Tampa and later graduated from Northern Michigan University with a degree in business and economics.
George married Boofer Meneghini on July 21, 1973, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Norway. He was a wonderful husband and father, and a good, loyal friend to many. Anyone who knew him loved his tremendous sense of humor and wit. He loved spending time with his family at Spread Eagle. George enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles, golf and water skiing. He was vice president and the chief administrative officer at MJ Electric in Iron Mountain. George was a member of Pine Grove Country Club, the Chippewa Club, 6-7-8, and AA, which he was very proud of.
He is survived by his wife, Boofer; two children; George (Carla) Anderson of Kingsford and Martha (Mark) Wolff of Norway; three grandchildren, Lindsay, Nicholas, and Lily Chapman; one brother, William (Linda) Anderson of Plymouth and one sister, Martha Anderson Torlak of Chicago; a nephew, William (Amy) Anderson; nieces, Tracy (Brian) Rosewarne and Katherine Anderson and fiance John Sytniak; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Meneghini; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dennis and Maxine Meneghini, Lee and Marge Meneghini, Lynne and Charles Wiethoff, Monica and Alan Erickson, Neil and Karen Meneghini, Mark and Pam Meneghini and Elise and Richard Hermsen; numerous nieces and nephews; and his very special friend, Stephen J. Reiten.
In addition to his parents, E. William Anderson and Lucile (Tracy) Anderson, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Edwin C. Meneghini and a very special young woman, Jennifer VanOss.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford. Rev. Michael March will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Reiten, Kevin Sullivan, Marc Mogan, David Sand, Richard Ring and Michael Horton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Relief Fund.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Julius J. "Pat" Patzer
CHANNING - Julius J. "Pat" Patzer, 78, of Channing, died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iron Mountain.
Pat was born Oct. 29, 1927, in Kingsford, son of the late Julius and Mima (Quick) Patzer. He attended Kingsford High School and resided in the area for most of his life. Pat was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He married Betty Larson on Dec. 24, 1944, at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain.
Pat worked for A&P; as a manager for more than 33 years. During his working career with A&P;, Pat spent 16 years in Iron Mountain, 15 years in Munising and two years in Hayward, Wis. After retiring in 1977, Pat worked as produce manager for Angeli's in Iron Mountain.
Pat was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the American Legion Post 168 in Channing and Post 363 in Kingsford, the Cloverland Chapter 23 of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), the Sagola Sportsman's Club, and the Eastern Dickinson County Sportsman's Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.
Pat is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty; three daughters, Kathryn (William) Hall of Elizabethtown, Pa., Mary (Ed) Hicks of Ashland, Ky. and Marilyn Patzer of Randville; six grandchildren, James (Jerry) Hall, Suzanne (Glen) Fitzgerald, Greg (Jeanna) Hicks, Ross Hicks, Richard "Mike" Collins (Gary Faulkner), and Kate Hamby; and 11 great-grandchildren, Samantha and Jessica Hall, Shelby, Sarah and Matthew Henderson, Emma and Jack Fitzgerald, Cory Hicks, Madalynn Jack, Shelbie Jeffrey, and Rhiannon Hamby. Pat was also blessed with an extended family which includes James (Lori) Jauquet Jr. and their children Andrew, Josh and Katie and Robert (Beth) Bobnock.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Alfred Patzer; four sisters, Jane Nault, Lila Wisniewski, Mildred Ramsey and Laverne DeNeve; and a grandson, Thomas Hall.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Rose Church in Channing. The Knights of Columbus will recite the rosary at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home, followed by parish prayers lead by Fr. Raymond Zeugner.
Funeral services will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church in Channing. Fr. Raymond Valerio will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Channing cemetery. The American Legion Post 168 will conduct military graveside honors. A naval farewell will be presented by Master Chief Derle De Los Sandos U.S.N. (retired).
Pallbearers will be Ross and Greg Hicks, Richard "Mike" Collins, James Hall, Andrew, Josh and Paul Jauquet, and Christopher Larson.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Pat's memory.

Dale E. "Butch" Charlier
NORWAY - Dale E. "Butch" Charlier, 61, of Norway, died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, after a long illness.
He was born on Jan. 4, 1945, in Kingsford, the son of the late Edward J. and Margaret R. (Coleman) Charlier.
Dale was a lifelong resident of this area. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an auto mechanic.
Dale leaves his sisters, JoAnn (Lyle) Pavloff and Gloria (Charles) Washburn, both of Muskegon, lower Michigan; his dear friend and caregiver, Wanda Collins of Norway; and two nieces and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by two infant children.
Honoring Dale's request, private family services have been held.
Burial will be in Quinnesec cemetery.
The Tondin-Ross and Freeman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Doreen M. Givogre
KINGSFORD - Doreen M. Givogre, 66, of 2108 W. Breen Ave. Kingsford, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
Doreen was born June 17, 1940, in Kingsford, daughter of the late Ralph and Dorothy (Pelot) McMahon. She graduated from Kingsford High School in 1958, and was a lifelong resident of the area.
Doreen married John Givogre on Feb. 1, 1964, in Iron Mountain. She was an extremely devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Doreen is survived by her husband, John; two sons, John L. and James B. Givogre, both of Gainesville, Ga.; a daughter, Gina M. (Jim) Brandt of Fairfield, Conn.; two brothers, Daniel (Ann) McMahon of Iron Mountain and David (Mary) McMahon of Aurora; three sisters, Marilyn (James) Moreau of Niagara, Wis., Judy (Tracey) Wales and Kathleen (Roger) Lindholm, both of Kingsford; three grandchildren, John Givogre, Caroline Givogre and Katie Brandt; and several nieces and nephews.
Private family services will be held.
Burial will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory.

Howard "Jay" Uren
SPREAD EAGLE, Wis. - Howard "Jay" Uren, 71, of Spread Eagle, passed away Saturday, Oct.14, 2006, at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
He was born Sept. 28, 1935, in Iron Mountain, the son of the late Howard A. Uren Sr. and Rose (Gregorich) Uren.
Jay was a 1953 graduate of Iron Mountain High School and attended Michigan Technological University and the University of Michigan. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was honorably discharged after two years of service.
On Feb. 21, 1963, he married the former Linda Channing.
Jay was a part owner and corporate officer of Bacco Construction Co., Inc. where he was employed for more than 30 years until his retirement in 1992. Personal memberships include Pine Grove Country Club, Trout Unlimited and professionally the Michigan Road Builders Association. Jay enjoyed golf, duck hunting, downhill skiing, fishing and the weekly gathering of the "Liars Club". He was an accomplished woodworker and furniture maker.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Linda; brother-in-law, John P. (Rosemary) Channing; an aunt, Caroline "Tillie" Miller, and several cousins, nieces, nephews and many dear and special friends.
In addition to his parents, his brother, Dennis Uren, also preceded him in death.
Jay will be missed by his loving and faithful companion "Casey".
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home.
Private family services will follow at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society.

Helen J. Koch
KINGSFORD - Helen J. Koch, 85, of 521 Harding Ave. in Kingsford, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006, at Maryhill Manor in Niagara.
She was born on Aug. 7, 1921, in Waukon, Iowa, and was the daughter of the late James and Jane (Egan) Brannan. Helen has been a resident of this area since 1952, coming from Milwaukee.
She married her husband, Clarence Koch on May 30, 1941, and he preceded her in death on March 16, 1996. Helen worked at Daniel's Gift Shop in Iron Mountain for 13 years, retiring in 1981. She was a member of St. Mary Queen of Peace Church, St. Anne's Circle of the church and the Daughters of Isabella. Helen was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. She enjoyed reading, playing cards and was a great cook and an excellent baker of apple pies. Helen especially loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Judith (Stanley) McCoy of Shorewood, Wis. and Diane (Kenneth) Kurz of Winneconne, Wis.; three grandchildren, Kevin (Michelle) McCoy, Michael McCoy and Jennifer Harbison and two great-grandchildren, Hennah and Mira McCoy.
In addition to her husband, Helen was preceded in death by her brothers, Leo and James Brannan and a sister, Marie Klapka.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. from St. Mary Queen of Peace Church.
Fr. Michael Woempner and Fr. Paul Nomellini will concelebrate the Mass of the Christian Burial.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to St. Mary Queen of Peace Church or Maryhill Manor Convalescent Home.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Daniel Mitchell and Dr. Nilar Shein for their excellent care and concern. A very special thank you to the staff at Maryhill Manor for their compassion, care, friendship and love for Helen. They were her second family.
