Rudolph "Lefty" Cerasoli
IRON MOUNTAIN - Rudolph "Lefty" Cerasoli, 89, of Iron Mountain, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.
He was born on June 8, 1917, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Pasquale and Marion (Santini) Cerasoli.
He met and married Mary Natalie Kennis on March 31, 1941, in Duluth, and she preceded him in death on July 10, 2006. He served in the United States Army in the Medical Core during World War II. He worked as a nursing assistant for the VA Hospital for many years.
He enjoyed golfing, visiting casinos, and watching television. In younger years he enjoyed baseball, fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed cooking for his family.
He is survived by a son, Rudolph J. (Faye) Cerasoli of Appleton, Wis.; grandchildren, Brian (Mary) Cerasoli of Appleton, and Mara (J.P.) Pastore of Naperville, Ill.; great-grandchildren, Jack Cerasoli of Appleton, and Angelina and Anthony Pastore of Naperville; and sisters, Veronica (Robert) Nault and Eleanor Barkle, all of Iron Mountain
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Peter DeCarlo, Fausto Cerasoli, and Dick Cerasoli, and two sisters, Muffaulda Lavigne and Theresa Nokes
Visitation will be on Friday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Marnie M. Wiitanen
IRON MOUNTAIN - Marnie M. Wiitanen, 38, of W8095 Oakridge Road Iron Mountain, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Marnie was born June 13, 1968 in Detroit, MI daughter of Robert F. Swatosh and the late Sharon L. Carpenter. She married Ross Wiitanen on October 12 1991 in Hancock, MI. Marnie worked hard to obtain her registered nursing degree despite her illness and was proud of her work at ManorCare Health Services. She loved being a part of her sons' sporting events, especially hockey, where she was the ultimate "hockey mom". In addition to being active in the Dickinson Area Hockey Association (DAHA), Marnie enjoyed camping, crafts, and gardening. She is survived by her caring husband, Ross; three loving sons, Matthew, Tyler and Alex, all at home; her father Robert F.(Cheryl) Swatosh of Macomb Township, MI; a brother, Joe (Michelle) Swatosh and nephew, Gavin, of Fenton, MI; paternal grandfather, Robert J. Swatosh; aunts and uncles, Carole (Barry) Bartlett, Sharon (Don) McKay, Debbie (Scott) Wilson, Eugene "Butch" Karinen, Lillian Karinen, and Gloria (Andrew) Henry; mother and father-in-law, Barb and Dennis Wiitanen; brother-in-law, Mark (Barb) Wiitanen and nephews Paul and Eric, brother-in-law Michael (Kathy) Wiitanen and nephew Jack; sister-in-law, Amy (Eric) Stier and nephew Will and niece Maya; and numerous cousins and friends. Marnie was preceded in death by her mother, Sharon, on March 7, 2000; her paternal grandmother, Eileen Swatosh; her maternal grandparents, Emil and Vieno Karinen; and a brother-in-law, David Wiitanen.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday September 29, 2006, at Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Chaplain David Anderson will officiate.
Burial will be in Oskar Bay cemetery near Houghton, MI.
In lieu of flowers, a fund has been established at the First National Bank of Iron Mountain-Kingsford, or donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in Marnie's name.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Bernice M. Johnson
FELCH - Bernice M. Johnson, 94, of Felch, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.
Funeral services will be Friday at 12 noon at the Zion Lutheran Church in Metropolitan.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home with the funeral arrangements.

Louise A. "Weeza" Aronson
IRON MOUNTAIN - Louise A. "Weeza" Aronson, 76, of 205 W. Brown St. in Iron Mountain, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, at her home.
She was born on April 29, 1930, in Iron Mountain, the daughter of the late George and Frances (Maynard) Quick.
Louise was a lifelong resident of Iron Mountain. She worked at Marten-'s Manufacturing for many years before retiring. Weeza loved taking care of her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking for all of them.
She married Arne Aronson in 1953 in Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death on Sept. 8, 1968.
She is survived by two sons, David Aronson of Tucson, Ariz. and Steven (Norma) Aronson of Kingsford; two daughters, Susan (Mark Schuirmann) Richtig of Kingsford and Jean (Dale Lessor) Rea of Iron Mountain; one sister, Betty Smokovitz of Kingsford; two brothers, George (Carol) Quick of Kingsford and Pete (Joyce) Quick of Milwaukee; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews
Louise was preceded in death by one son, Richard Quick in 1994; two sons-in-law, Michael Richtig in 1984 and Michael Rea in 1974; two sisters, Gladys Sorenson and Annette Perry; and two brothers, Robert Quick and James Quick.
Graveside service will be held on Friday 2 p.m.at cemetery Park
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory.

Vera Ruth Kezar
IRON MOUNTAIN - Vera Ruth Kezar, 85, of 1020 N. Evergreen, Iron Mountain, died at her home on Friday, Sept. 22, 2006, at 2 a.m. after a short, but courageous battle with cancer.
She was born June 15, 1921, in Stephenson, to Edward and Viola (Lipke) Kezar. The family moved to Kingsford when Vera was two years old.
Vera was a graduate of Kingsford High School, class of 1938. In 1939, she graduated from the Upper Peninsula School of Beauty Culture and worked in the field locally for a few years. In 1946, she entered nursing school at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago, graduating with an AD degree in 1948. In 1953, she graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. She returned to Iron Mountain and worked as Nurse and Utilization coordinator at the Veterans Administration Medical Center for 32 years, retiring in 1986.
She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kingsford. She also belonged to the Eastern Star and, during their pasty season, each Thursday would find her at the Masonic Temple making and delivering pasties by the hundreds.
Vera was also a member of The Chippewa Club, Pine Grove Country Club, GFWC-Iron Mountain/Kingsford, Navy Memorial Foundation of Washington, D.C., and local quilting and painting clubs. She joined Pine Grove Country Club while in her teens and held the oldest continuous membership.
Her interests were varied. She enjoyed golfing, gardening, painting, sewing, woodworking, quilting, needlepoint, and travel. During the course of her many trips, she visited 61 countries and all seven continents.
Survivors include her adopted family, Jim and Joan Flood, Jodie and Dan Howell, Bruce and Shari Bellchambers, Kim and Peter Swanson, and Dr. James Flood; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are a niece, Bonnie Sue Mayes, a nephew, David Kezar, a cousin, Norma Croft and other great-nieces and nephews. Also surviving are special friends, Linda and Robert Hendrickson and Karen and Roger Sufka.
Her parents and two brothers preceded her in death.
The family will greet friends at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. The Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service at 3 p.m. on Sunday followed by the funeral service. Pastor Jim Nephew will officiate.
Burial will take place in Stephenson Township cemetery in Stephenson.
Memorials may be directed to the Vera Ruth Kezar Scholarship Fund at Pine Mountain Christian School.

Natalie Jayne Knase
IRON MOUNTAIN - Natalie Jayne Knase, stillborn on Sept. 19, 2006, at 7:37 p.m. to the proud parents, Zach and Brenda Knase. She weighed 6 pounds 2 ounces and was 18 1/2 inches long. She had her Daddy's nose, face, and toes and her Mommy's hands, ears, and dark brown hair.
She is survived by her parents, Zach and Brenda Knase; Grandpa Tom and Grandma Bev Krogman; Grandpa LeRoy and Grandma Marcie Knase; Uncle Mitch Knase; Uncle Mike and Aunt Karen Budworth; Aunt Kim and Uncle Jim Fishnick; Aunt Melina and Uncle Eric Hough; Uncle Bruce Budworth; Uncle Keith and Aunt Leanne Budworth; and Great-Grandpa Tom and Great-Grandma Evie Krogman.
She was preceded in death by Uncle Brian Budworth.
Our little angel will always be loved and never forgotten. We love you, Peanut!

Marjorie L. Holman
IRON MOUNTAIN - Marjorie L. Holman, 86, of Iron Mountain, died Monday, Sept.18, 2006, at ManorCare Health Services.
She was born on Aug. 22, 1920, in Iron Mountain, the daughter of the late Ludwig and Anna (Paljug) Dulan.
She graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1938, and from St. Anthony School of Nursing in Rockford, Ill. in 1941 as a registered nurse.
Marge enlisted as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps in 1943, stationed at Percy Jones General Hospital in Battle Creek, lower Michigan until 1945. In 1945, she was assigned to the 86th Field Hospital in Okinawa, which was the last before World War II ended. She was discharged from the U.S. Army as a captain in 1946.
She worked as a registered nurse in the Louisville VA Hospital, the Iron Mountain VA Hospital, and was the director of nursing at Maryhill Manor.
She was a member of St. Mary Queen of Peace Church and the Friends of the Museum.
Marge married Dr. Arthur Holman on Feb. 7, 1952, in Iron Mountain. Dr. Holman preceded her in death on April 22, 1995.
Marge is survived by her daughter, Ann (Adam) Holman Holcman of Itasca, Ill.; two granddaughters, Sarah and Emma; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three infant sons; eight brothers; and two sisters.
Visitation will be Thursday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Tondin-Ross and Freeman Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. at the Carmelite Monastery. Fr. Michael Woempner will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in cemetery Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Carmelite Monastery.
The Tondin-Ross and Freeman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

P. Irene Olson
IRON MOUNTAIN - P. Irene Olson, 99, of Iron Mountain, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She was born on June 13, 1907, in Beacon, a small mining village in the Upper Peninsula, the daughter of the late Harry and Lida (Brewer) Olson.
As a young child, Irene lived in Ishpeming and Negaunee, until 1916 when her family moved to the Rogers Location by Iron River.
She attended Rogers School and graduated as valedictorian from Stambaugh High School in 1924. Irene graduated from Marquette Normal (Northern Michigan University), where she was a member of Beta Sigma Tau Sorority.
Irene taught second grade for the Gaastra Township School and the Stambaugh Township School. In 1945, she moved to Iron Mountain where she was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church-'s Martha Rachel Circle. She was also a longtime volunteer for the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital League and the Hospital Auxiliary and a lifelong member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She married Brewer Fred Olson on June 13, 1929, in Iron River. He preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 1993.
She is survived by her son, Richard Dean (Anne) Olson of Aliso Viejo, Calif.; her twin daughters, Ruth (Lee) Tripp of Mt. Airy, Md., and Beth Taylor of Cleveland, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren, including triplet girls.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Whear; and two brothers, Edmund (Lenore) Whear and Willard (Lillian) Whear.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford. Rev. Michael March will officiate.
Burial will be in the Ishpeming cemetery.
The Tondin-Ross and Freeman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
